When Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT) called for the resignation of Rep. Tom DeLay, conservatives turned on Shays as if he were the one going around verbally attacking federal judges and embroiled in ethics scandals. Shays’s congressional colleague Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) claimed he was “totally out of touch” with mainstream conservatives and “disloyal to the party and to people as individuals.” That personal attack wasn’t enough for Rohrabacher who went on to call Shays a “jerk” who gained his notoriety off of his disloyalty. Rush Limbaugh addressed his comments to Shays himself and declared, “It’s going to take a lot more than you, Chris Shays, to get rid of someone who’s decent and good and moral and upstanding and a fighter, and that’s Tom DeLay.”
Now, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) has postured that if Tom DeLay “chose to resign as majority leader until these matters are resolved, that’s probably not the worst idea.” This is the same congressman who served as the keynote speaker at the kickoff event for the Minuteman Project, calling the group “heroes.” Well, you really have to wonder how DeLay feels knowing that a man ready and willing to defend armed “vigilantes” won’t even jump to his defense. Or is Tancredo just another “disloyal” “jerk”?

One can only hope that the far right challenges the right in Connecticut where a real liberal type Democrat would win a Congressional seat.

Osama bin Laden, even though he seemingly hated Saddam Hussein and in fact broke w/ the Saudi royal family permanently when they refused to let him conduct an Afghanistan-like insurgency against Iraq because of the Kuwait invasion, was really in cahoots with Saddam.
Saddam and the Iranians, despite their differences (that 10 year war which cost millions of lives; the one nation, a relatively modern secular dictatorship; the other, a Shia theocratic republic playing economic catch-up; etc), were involved in and behind 9-11. The complete lack of “evidence” just proves how we need to ignore evidence.
This nation, as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution clearly show, was founded on Biblical Law.
Evolution is just a false theory perpetuated by elitist liberal humanists out to promote toleration for homosexuality and Islamic terrorism.

April 15th, 2005 at 10:51 pmMan, I could have been more open to accepting Republicans but with fascists like Bush, Rove, Rumsfeld, Delay, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, etc … I’ve finally given up trying to accept the party’s insanity. I can’t say the Democrats are much better since a greater percentage of the party almost always panders to the Republicans be it Bush’s tax shifts, un-patriot act, iraq war, terri schiavo, free trade, bankruptcy protections for ken lay but not for the lower and middle class, or class action un-fairness. I swear, if I have to vote between another DLCer and another rightwing puppet for president, I’m going to vote Independent, whoever the independent candidate is, no libertarian type but clearly gets at the issues and will for once run a 50 state campaign rather than act as a spoiler like Perot or Nader !
