Press Conference: Selective Learning

The President retorted that he doesn’t know about the NCLB lawsuit filed by the nation’s largest teachers union because he’s not a lawyer. Yet not being a ballplayer didn’t stop him from knowing about the Washington Nationals’ lineup. Interesting how he knows about what he wants to know about.

It doesn’t matter, lack of knowledge has not hurt him so far’ it’s almost expected.

  2. Scott says:

Now that was funny (ok, it was sad) – “Bush’s sports expertise…” Because, as we all know, sports expertise is a vitally important skill for a Commander in Chief to have. Who needs to know about boring crap like geography or current events, when you have sports expertise. In keeping with the wildly successful “trickle down” things the Greedy Old Party loves, I propose a No President Left Behind Act. Better yet, who wouldn’t love a “Send the President to Fallujah, then Leave Him Behind Act”. Even Cheney is talking about the incredible progress we’re making over there. I bet Iraq is now as safe as Disneyland, because the Iraqisgreeted us as the liberators that the talking points memos keep reminding us that we are. Let freedom ring! I can hear it already. Oh, false alarm, it was just the phone. I wish we’d put as much energy into making America safe for Democracy as we do forcing it on countries that don’t want it in the first place.

  3. Tom Wyka says:

What’s sad is that the net effect is to endear him to so many (don’t we all plead ignorance to some degree on these complex issues) The reality is that you can’t fall back on your “intellectual sloth” when it’s your damn job to know

Fox stopped covering the conference at this point

  5. Susan says:

Did you see the old video clips of dubya and Laura picking their noses at the Rangers game?
Guess they were a little lost in their thoughts..
    “Can’t get sued for picking”

  6. daedalus says:

I hate Bush, but it’s pretty stupid to attack him for liking baseball. Why have we as Dems become so blinded in our hatred for Bush that we have to pick on stupid things? Comment number 5 case in point. Why don’t we start focusing on ideas rather than criticizing?

  7. daedalus says:

p.s. For the record, Mike Lieberthal has been catching for the Phillies for a dozen years. Anyone who is familiar with baseball would know him.

  8. Susan says:

    daedalus,
I guess you can’t understand that the intention of these comments are to say that Bushie was avoiding the question..
    Chill.
