Judd and I stopped by the K Street Carnival of Corruption on our way home. Couldn’t stay long — the DeLay supporters passing out Newsmax magazine (cover story: “Targeting Tom DeLay“) were just a bit much — but it was great fun:
A view of the Hilton’s front door…

Yours truly plays (and wins!) “Drop the Hammer: Smash the Corruption”. (Not the most flattering shot, I must say.)

And — hey! — there’s Tony Blankley, editor of the Washington Times! What a surprise!

Looking good Nico. Wish I could have been there with you guys.
May 12th, 2005 at 7:50 pmThis pic of Blankley is hilarious.
May 12th, 2005 at 7:59 pmWhy are the fat cats actually so…fat? I think it’s some sort of Republican status look. The idea is twhoever consumes the most wins. I think Arianna Huffington had it right…”Pigs at The Trough.”
May 12th, 2005 at 8:08 pmOK… I love you guys, I really do, but you’ve GOT to learn to optimize your pics for the web. Do this: Open the pic in Photoshop, then choose File>Save for Web. Select jpeg at a medium setting, and –Voila!– your pic will be a fraction of the size. That first pic weighs in at almost 500K, and that’s brutal for old-fashioned dialup folks like me. You should be able to slim those down to less than 60k apiece.
I’m just saying….
May 12th, 2005 at 9:25 pmSorry, Peteykins, we’re still a bit new to the magic of the internets. We’ll do better next time. (seriously, thx for pointing this out.)
May 12th, 2005 at 9:41 pmHey, no problem. I’d be happy to help any time.
And, also seriously, keep up the good work. I check you guys several times a day, and love what you’ve been doing. The posts here are so consise and well-stated.
I see that the pics also were not rescaled (in Photoshop, go to Image>Image size> and enter the new dimensions) for this page. I’ve gone ahead and done that for you. The URLs are here:

Again, if you’d like any tutorials on how to use images on the web efficiently, I’d be happy to serve. :)
May 13th, 2005 at 5:54 amI was there last night! Spun the wheel and won a $500,00 trip to South Korea. Told everyone I was trying to decide what slimy critter to turn DeLay into with my witch’s brew. The host suggested a newt, although I was going with a salamander…
May 13th, 2005 at 9:08 am – “I’ll take my medicine now, Tom. Yes you are the best leader I’ve ever known. Please take me on your next golf trip – I’ll let you drive my car, it’s a real beaut.”
May 13th, 2005 at 10:38 amThe pic of Blankley is typically disgusting…. why is it that all these guys are such corpulent, bloated, part-on-the-side, greasy blobs???
Never mind…
May 13th, 2005 at 10:44 amTake alook at many male southern conservatives–short neck, fat face, big head, the result of inbreeding!
May 13th, 2005 at 12:05 pmCan someone please point out the irony of the crowd singing “If I Had a Hammer” (as reported in the NY Times) at this event. The folk song was written by Pete Seeger, who was blacklisted and investigated by the HUAC for his ties to the communist party and was also about social activitism that Rep. Delay would undoubtedly not approve of (i.e., labor organizing and other social justice causes).
May 13th, 2005 at 12:19 pmThanks to all who came out – what a great time -will work on that pete seeger thing – man is that aweful! – sincerely, a- k street carnival o corruption barker
May 13th, 2005 at 12:29 pmScott! You rocked my world. Thanks for the fun! When do I get my ticket to South Korea?
May 13th, 2005 at 12:37 pmThank you, Gwen! I heard that on NPR this morning and almost barfed all over my steering wheel. It was written by Pete Seeger and the late Lee Hayes, two of the most liberal songwriters ever. Pete’s 86 as of May 3rd. He’s probably throwing crockery today.
May 13th, 2005 at 1:36 pmTom “I ain’t got no morals at all” Delay stating last night that Democrats have no class has to be the best joke of the year so far.
May 13th, 2005 at 5:37 pmScott, the work you did was fantastic. Had a great time – thanks a ton.
May 13th, 2005 at 11:49 pmPlease list the corporate sponsors of this event.
