BREAKING: New Evidence of Koran Desecration and Administration Deception

From today’s White House press breifing:

QUESTION: Scott, there’s an FBI memo that’s been released today through a Freedom of Information request. It dates from August 23, 2002, and recounts the interrogation — the interview of a detainee at Bagram. And in this memo, the FBI recounts that this detainee says he had nothing against the United States, but the guards in his detention facility do not treat him well, their behavior is bad; about five months ago, the guards beat the detainees and they flushed a Koran in the toilet.

White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan’s response:

I mean in terms of if there’s any abuse of detainees, we take any such allegations very seriously.

But Pentagon spokesman Larry DiRita said, prior to this month, there were no investigations regarding Koran desecration:

QUESTION: [H]ave there been or are there current investigations of possible similar desecrations [of a Koran] elsewhere — (inaudible)?

[Snip]

MR. DI RITA: Those types of allegations have not previously been — there’s — we’ve not previously included that in any kind of previous investigations into detainee operations, because there haven’t been credible allegations to that effect.

Why didn’t the Bush administration take this detainee’s allegation of abuse and Koran desecration seriously? If they didn’t investigate, how do they know his allegation isn’t credible?

    This is just shows how much we need an immediate independent investigation of the whole situation. These guys can’t be trusted and their story doesn’t hold up.

    This administration does not care one iota about a Koran being flushed. They only care about the repercussions BECAUSE of the flushing, or alleged flushing.

    There is no mystery here. A democratic administration would handle things this same way, obfuscation and coverup. It’s just another diversion and is meaningless to most of us.

    Yes, the allegations of those who are indoctrinated to hate America are to be taken seriously. Indeed, those poor detainees who wanted nothing but to kill liberals, infidels, Westerners and anyone else who doesn’t adhere to their belief are alot of things…but not liars. No. Just because they have an interests in saying things like American’s desecrated the Koran and much, much worse…we should give them the benefit of the doubt. Sure, being taught hatred against the US by their totalitarian governments since grade school and being exposed to the vile propaganda of state-run media…couldn’t possibly have made them make claims that weren’t true. Yes, we are to believe those who are at war with our nation. Our responsibility is to our political identity that seeks to not only deny who our enemy is (even as they are quite honest in this regard) but to offer our “liberal” values and sympathies to these poor detainees. Of course, the Iraqi Kurds, Shiites and Marsh Arabs would have really liked some sympathy and projection of liberal values– but you couldn’t make a rhetorical point from their tragedy. They didn’t matter– and the progressives and left would have preferred that they die or endure the torture and oppression of Saddam (or his sons). The women and gays and liberals and progressives in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran and Sudan would like your sympathy and compassion now, as they endure the totalitarian reality which you are apologists for. Unfortunately, your humanity and indignation and ability to be caring human beings only presents itself if there is a political point to score against those who disagree with you. Yes, Christians in Sudan know that you are shadows of a humanistic spirit. It would be tragic if your only character flaw was selling out your values, your principles and your nation for a mere political identity. What’s more tragic is that you are leading those who want to destroy us down the path toward annihilation. Mothers and fathers who care about their children more than the existence of those who offer nothing but hate will not listen to your calls of restraint if your allies (totalitarians and their warriors) unleash further destruction on the US. Instead of helping them to understand this, you prefer to push them toward this abyss and justify their march to annihilation. Indeed, besides being poor advocates for human life, poor advocates and protectors of America, poor custodians of your own interests and future…you are extremely poor sychophants of Islamic totalitarians.     Regrettably, buckshot does come across as a troll, which in all probability is his intent. His assertions are almost always generalizations and standard Conservative talking-points, mixed repetitively with shots at the imagined ignorance and anger of “Progressives” and which are invariably sandwiched by comments about self-reliance and dark prophetic warnings of financial disaster for all save those like him who already have their fiscal houses in order. In style, he is rather like bacon, sans profanity.

    Yet for all this, buckshot is certainly entitled to his informed opinion, and I support his right to do so here and anywhere. I only wish he would conduct himself more in the manner of his fellow resident Conservative Tony, whom I know many of you don’t care for, but who I see as someone holding up the Conservative viewpoint in this forum with little or no credible assistance, and yet with a respectable degree of grace, courtesy and reason.

    In the last day or two Tony and I have exchanged a few missives back and forth, and while I know from having following his postings for some little time now that he and I are miles apart on a goodly number of issues, it has so far been something of an unexpected pleasure to debate with him. I will likely never budge him from his world-view, nor he from mine, but so far our discussion has been civilized and I feel that even if we never completely agree with one another, I expect we will at least come to understand each other’s view, and acknowledge each other’s right to express it. This is precisely why I come in here. While I am not a religious man by nature, I most heartily support the following quotation:

    Buckshot, I call on you to bring your best game in here and assail the Lefties with well-reasoned logic and tightly-constructed arguments. Force them to respond with every last bit of skill, knowledge and persuasion they posess; everyone here will benefit from it. I assure you, in all seriousness, that if you continue on in your usual manner, you will be damned for the troll your postings to date suggest you to be. I don’t think you want that and I know I certainly don’t. I know you have more in you. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Instead, ALWAYS give as good or better than you receive; mix up your talking points, come into debate from different angles while still maintaining and expressing your core beliefs. “Citius, Altius, Fortius.”

    Now to be completely fair, there are posters in here from the liberal-left-democratic-progressive direction who, as resident hosts in an ideological sense, seem all to eager to dismiss the comments of their Conservative-minded guests in an over-zealous or almost rabid manner. Some of them unwittingly get sucked in by buckshot and end up calling him a asshole or the like, then he plays his “anger” trump card and generally makes them look rather flustered, flummoxed and foolish. Believe me, I frequently have the same knee-jerk thoughts after reading much of the incensive yet uninspired commentary he’s offered up to date, but all such responses are counter-productive because of this: HE WANTS YOU TO REACT THAT WAY! That’s how he gets off. Perhaps if we can stop calling him names, he will act in kind, bring his A game and show us all up! God, I hope not.

    Here is my manifesto, which is indeed communal but not communistic in nature:

    All of us: You, Me, Buckshot, Tony and the rest need to bring our best efforts to this forum and freely and effectively exchange our differing yet informed opinions. If I’m not up to speed on a subject, I don’t stick my oar in just for the sake of getting it wet. Instead, I first do some reasearch from at least a few diverse sources of information/opinion; then I form my own opinion, and then I offer an INFORMED comment.

    It is now my intention, in all of my subsequent postings, to treat everyone in this forum in a civil manner, and I’m asking everyone here to back my play. Some, I expect, won’t and that’s their right to do so, but I think that for each one of us willing to hold him or herself to this standard of conduct, we can raise the level of discourse in here tenfold. No more insults, jibes, snipes, snarks or the like, if you please. If someone does it to you, I ask that you ignore it (and them, if it continues), and just continue giving us only your best. C’mon folks! This isn’t fucking IRC, for Christ’s sake, or at least it shouldn’t be.

    I apologize for banging on about this for so long, but I sincerely hope that we will all give this a try. There really is no limit to our potential if only we can come together in unified purpose. Think of what we might discover about and learn from each other! Think of the satisfaction to be gained knowing that we, as citizens gathered together for reasoned debate are accomplishing that which the officials we elected to represent us cannot! Let us show Washington, both its Democrats and its Republicans, that they are doing a god-damned piss-poor job on our behalf and that we’re more than prepared to throw the whole sorry, sodding lot of them out on their collective asses. After all, they are our employees, right? Are you satisfied with their productivity? Would you give them a passing grade for their results or efforts to date? Not me. I expect more.

The important thing is McClellan lied to the American people. And, as usually, he takes pains to be “technically” correct. There were no “credible” reports of abuse.     I thought I was a republican when Reagan was elected. I have lived through Ike to Jr and remember pretty much of Johnson thru JR.
    I do agree with Buckshot, the Dems are not without their lies and coverups, Buckshot, I would like to see your list of Kerry lies please.
    After the Reagan years I felt I was not as much of a republican as I thought, and after Bush 1 I tried to stay true. Then the Newt hit town, and Clinton went along with cutting social programs.
    I became independant then. There were many more issues than these, but I can not cover all.
    I still gave the GRP a chance after the 2000 SC awarding of the presidancy to JR.
    I finally gave up on them after the 2002 elections. They degraded the same people they now use to advance their own agenda, remember the attacks on McClain and Cleland? Honored vets, when they are a bunch of chickenhawks!
    Also Buckshot, I think you put down, I think susan for questioning 9/11. And please try to be rational here.
    Ask Yourself a few questions(of the many that should be)
    1 Why were our military doing exercises that day?
    2 Bushs plans for that day were well documented, why would the SS allow him to keep reading if he was in danger?
    3 Saudis allowed to leave the country without FBI interviews?
    4 Neo cons saying we need a pearl harbor to launch their agenda and then they get jobs with JR
    5 Why did they get such large settlements, I know no amount of money is enough for the victims, but this adm, has fought against large settlements even against our gulf war troops who won a huge settlement against Saddam
    6 Why is Sybyl Edmonds under a gag order when 2 prominent senators believed she had relevant info to 9/11? Forgive my spelling here
    7Why were Warren Buffett and a bunch of big money in nebraska meeting at the same place Jr ended up on 9/11
    8 Why did Ashcroft get a message to fly private way before 9/11
    9 Why did Jr fight so hard against an investigation, and finally handpick the investigators?

    Please let me know your thoughts, but also think for yourselfs and question what you are told.

    When it comes to the crimes committed on 9/11, and I suspect Dubya had nothing to do with because they don’t trust the clown (it’s Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Libby and the rest of the Pentagon’s civilian warmongers that I don’t trust), people should not dismiss logical suspicions simply because the “offifical” story has been etched in stone. Many of the facts surrounding what happened that day have been filled with holes. We’re not talking about conspiracy theories but cold hard evidence.

    Grab a barfbag and get yourself over to Fromthewilderness.com or check out “Crossing the Rubicon” or 911truth.org. There are too many people presenting to much evidence to dismiss it.

    If the officials I mention didn’t have a long history of power positions in the government, if I hadn’t investigated the Project for a New American Century (just look at the signatures on the website), if they hadn’t gone directly after Iraq and told so many lies to get there while previously stating publicly the need to do so, if they weren’t so close to the House of Saud and didn’t have deep roots in the CIA….I wouldn’t be so suspicious.

    Read about this people. It doesn’t feel good going down, but once you read the FACTS, you’ll have trouble putting down your politics.
