1,156 Days Wasn’t Enough Time For Frist

This morning Bill Frist said that delaying a vote on Bolton to get more information is wrong:

[T]he other side is unreasonably and irresponsibly filibustering this nominee [John Bolton].

In November, Bill Frist — defending his vote to postpone a vote on Judge Richard Paez — said delaying a vote to get more information was OK:

Filibuster, cloture, it gets confusing–as a scheduling or to get more information is legitimate.

Today Frist emphasized that it was time for a vote on Bolton because it’s been “over 200 days ago that the position of the U.N. ambassador came open” It’s been only 99 days since Bolton was nominated. At the time Frist voted to prevent an up-or-down vote on Paez his nomination had been pending 1,156 days.

  1. Bill says:

I don’t think Bolton should have to wait 1000 days. I think he should get a vote now. I don’t like him. But he should have a vote. Otherwise they’ll just be a recess appointment.

  2. kindness says:

Why don’t you wait to see what the security papers the Democrats have asked for say Bill. I’ve got the time so does everyone else. It’s Bushco that is the one holding it up. Don’t let ANYONE forget that little fact.

On another note, for a professed “born again christian” Frist sure does seem to lie like all hell. They must issue those folks different bibles than the ones I grew up with.

  3. Skid says:

What will be the next angle to try to get the security papers pertaining to Bolton? Unfortunately it seems we shall see them at about the same time as the DSM and its like get the DAMNING credit they deserve.

Faust/Frist is exempt of the meager Christian values and codes of conduct that the rest are to follow. Just as Bush, God has a different path for them.

  4. Dick (no, not that one) says:

how about an up or down recorded vote on lynching?

  5. Zookeeper says:

I picture Frist with a scared looking kitty in his arms, red-faced, tears streaming through the dirt on his face, jumping up and down, and whining, I WANT IT, IT WANT IT, NOW! IT’S NOT FAIR! IT DOESN’T COUNT WHEN I DO IT! MOM! MAKE THEM DO IT!

  6. brett says:

C’mon now! You must admit that both sides of the aisle have been woefully inept in this entire mess. If you want to fillibuster then DO IT. save the threats, get off your asses and start talking. Thats all any of ‘em do anyway. Hell, maybe that jackass Byrd will even keel over if he joins in the fracas. If the Dems believe in what they are doing then do it. If the Republicans believe in what they’re doing then bring on the fight. Sadly, as usual damn little is getting done put if posturing counted for something…

  7. Susan says:

Of course Brett, as a government worker, ha, ha, you’d love to allow a vote before all of the evidence is gathered…What are you hiding? What are you afraid of?
Hmmm, republican and works for the government, I see,
    the answer is ALOT!

  8. Jon says:

This from Bill Frist, the original proponent of the feline nuclear option.

  9. brett says:

You got me I admit it, Susan! I want the vote yesterday. Before some would-be slacker thats soft on crime, as long as it doesn’t affect him/her, get into the position where the balance of power shifts to you birkenstock wearing, tree hugging loonies. NUKE ‘EM, NUKE ‘EM ALL TO HELL!!!!
Just kidding. Actually I am a good right winger, in my book, but I also believe in the legalization of marijuana and prostitution if for no other reason than for tax revenue. The government has been pimping folks out for years. I don’t ccare if they wait for the facts but how long, really must this be prolonged. I’ve heard all the same crap as you from both sides. Just vote dammit. Now, based on the division of the senate the right will pretty much have its way. I don’t necessarily agree with all the choices but to the victor goes the spoils. They are the majority and thats just tough cookies. If things were reversed I wouldn’t be as happy, granted. But my philosophy wouldn’t change.
By the way its local gov’t and it is most assuredly left of center.

  10. Willie Loucks says:

I would just as soon have them stalled in the senate and that way they can’t do damage in other areas. And they have other areas they want to do damage to. Believe me
