I would say that not only includes the war effort but pretty much any other socially responsible program that comes down the pike. Compassionate Convervative is just a spin talking point and ultimately another lie.

Tell them to come meet me in Germany and I’ll enlist them. Heck, I coming to the states for a couple weeks of Leave they can meet me anywhere in Indiana and I would be proud to give them the oath of enlistment.

I can’t believe how loyal some of you sheep are to the Democratic party. They are a bunch of crooks, just like the Republicans, and they don’t give a shit about the common man either.

I doubt that this country has ever been so badly in need of another viable political party as it is now. There are some better choices than the Dems or Repubs right now (i.e. Libertarian), but most people are either voting “lesser of two evils” because they don’t want to “waste” their vote and allow the worst guy in, or else they are just sheep like you who are incapable of being free-thinkers. And many are just morons who vote the way that their union or their preacher tells them to, or the way that their father did.

however, they CAN still support bush-the-deserter and his illegal war AND feed their other all consuming illness: greed. become a private military contractor in iraq. those are really safe jobs in the rear echelons. they support the war and make LOTS of money.

they don’t have any life-threatening worries. oh, weren’t 4 contractors killed, mutiliated, burned and hung from a bridge? oh, that drive from baghdad to its airport can be dangerous, but only if you’re an italian journalist speaking truth to power. no worries on THAT score with young college republicans.

Look at map of the U.S. countries with shrinking population and then look at a map of the counties with the strongest Bush vote. They look the same. Many Bush votes came from rural people angry that they feel they have been left behind. Clinton mostly ignored them.

When Dems figure this out they will get the White House and Congress back. Until then we better get used to being the minority.

Western MN, SD, ND, NE, WY, IA, KS are all full of shrinking towns. It’s sad. The states I just listed have 14 senators. That’s a lot of power. I came from a rural farmer area (formerly very Democratic but now Republican) with the majority of farm households having some current or former connection to the military. The moderate Republican suburban area in PA I live in now has very few veterans by percentage but voted heavily for Kerry. huh? Go figure.
