To quote a recent draft for impeachment:
1. Providing misinformation to the United Nations Security Council, Congress, and the American people overstating the offensive capabilities of Iraq, including weapons of mass destruction, as justification for military action against Iraq.
2. Repeatedly manipulating the sentiments of the American people by erroneously linking Iraq with the terrorist attacks of September 11th by Al-Qaeda.
3. Repeatedly claiming that satellite photos of sites in Iraq depicted factories for weapons of mass destruction in contradiction with the results of ground inspections by United Nations teams.
4. Stating that "Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa" in his State of the Union Address after being told by the CIA that this was untrue and that the supporting documents were forged.
5. Influencing, manipulating and distorting intelligence related to Iraq with the intention of using that intelligence to support his goal of invading Iraq.
6. Invading Iraq with United States military forces.
7. Sacrificing the lives of thousands of American soldiers.
8. Killing tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians and conscripts.
9. Rejecting peaceful resolution by acts of UN compliance by Saddam Hussein.
10. Violating the Geneva Convention by abducting and transporting human beings to prisons in foreign countries where they can be subjected to inhumane treatment.

Need any more reasons?

OK, Impeach Bush! He lied! He is a sucker!
He is all that!
You sound like a bunch of frustrated losers.
I hear "smart" liberals talk about how dumb Bush is -compared to their smart selves, presumably.
But you don't realise this:
1 Folk wanted to impeach Clinton for a clear cut case of outright lying- backed by indubitable evidence.

Contrast that to
2 Bush believed Iraq was a threat, and had WMD's etc which turned out not to be true.
Are you going to aduce dna evidence that he sincerely knew otherwise but deliberately misled? - I guess smart
liberals should be able to adduce such evidence.
3. NSA taps's legality is debatable.
Consider the fact that this are warrants on (possible) citizens communicating with al-qeada operatives (presumably) not citizens.
In the that case one- and that is just one of several- line of argument is this:
"We were tapping the communication of the al-qaeda operative. It is the foreing party whose communication we are interested in"
The laws you folk are brandishing about are laws about "domestic" spying. These are not "domestic" taps in a very technical sense of the word.
It is more of an "international" tap

Do my smart "higher-than-Bush's-IQ-possesing" liberals see the fact that this is not a "clear-cut-matter-of-fact" issue of wrong doing as in the Clinton case? Don't tell me Clinton's sexual escapades do not warrant all the hullabaloo because that is not the argument here. Argument is about how you "smart" liberals think this is a forgone conclusion a la impeachment of GW.

It doesn't take much to see that many things are wrong wtih the leadership of this country. I don't understand why there is even a debate over the need for Impeachment of Bush and Cheney. It seems pretty clear that there was a terrible mistake in allowing Bush to be Pres. a secong time. America just didn't get enough abuse the first time around? I have never liked Bush or anything that he seems to stand for as a man. Recently I read a newspaper article that led me to an online Petition To Repatriate Geronimo's Skull. I don't see how anyone could read this and not know that the Bush family line is just sick. People like this should not be running our country. Impeach Bush!

To Kevin Groenhagen,
Clinton didn't take this country into a full scale invasion of Iraq. No, he shouldn't be impeached for that reason. Last but not least, the nation of Iraq will be better off of the new government ends up better than Saddam's... I see no evidence that suports this happening, the new Shia led majority will want their revenge on the Sunnis, Muquada al-Sadar and Sistani have just been waiting for the US troops to leave. Then the real Iraq government will take control-it will mirroe the Iraninan government and it will hat the US like Saddam's regime only dreamed of. THAT is why we were against going to war-That is why Clinton never attacked. Athens8

where do you start. The war that never should have been. the relief that never came in time for thousands. the people that are out of work because the economy is dying before our eyes. a president that won't recognize and the failure to help his own people. the price of gas thats causing our children to shiver in the classrooms.I have a newspaper in front of me and the jobs that are listed require at least 4 years of education or training in the field of nursing. This was a automotive town with 7000 workers at its best. now we see 1500 and possible closing of plants. wake up before its to late.

Cheryl:

You're assigining blame to the wrong person. Mayor Nagin had 2,000+ buses at his disposal to use to evacuate the people of NOLA. That's what NOLA's evacuation plan called for. However, those buses were left sitting idle in parking lots that eventually became flooded. At 50 people per bus, Nagin could have evacuated 100,000 people BEFORE Katrina hit. Let's not blame Bush for the corruption and incompetence found amongst Democrats in Louisiana.

Why? Why did our government under the Bush Administration failed the people of the USA AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA? -- I strongly believe that we should start an impeachment proceedings to get him out of office FOR NOT ACTING QUICK ENOUGH TO SAVE LIVES IF A DOCTOR WAITED FOUR DAYS TO ADMINISTER CARE, WE WOULD CONSIDER THAT AN ACT OF COMMITING MURDER/MAN SLAUGHTER AND PUT HIM IN JAIL. THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA HAD THAT POWER IN HIS HANDS TO ADMINISTER IMMEDIATE CARE TO THE DYING PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THIS HURRICANE AND DID NOTHING. HE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE AND BE SUBJECTED TO CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR THIS FAILURE. THIS is the only way Mr. Bush would get the message that he must protect the people of USA FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WILL SEND A STRONG MESSAGE TO FUTURE PRESIDENTS. WE ARE CRIMINIALLY CHARGING OTHER PRESIDENTS OF DIFFERENT NATIONS FOR MISUSE OF POWER AND COMMITING WRONGFULLY ACTS UPON THEIR PEOPLE. HOW CAN WE LOOK THESE PRESIDENTS OF OTHER NATIONS IN THE FACE AND SAY TO THEM IT IS ALLRIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY TO TREAT THEIR PEOPLE WRONGLY BUT YOU CANNOT. WE MUST DO THE SAME TO OUR PRESIDENT - HOLD HIM ACCOUNTIBLE FOR THIS MISUSE OF POWER AND WRONGFULLY ACT UPON OUR PEOPLE.

To those liberals who believe Bush should be impeached for "lying" about Iraq's WMD, do you believe Bill Clinton should be sanctioned in any way for "lying" to the American people about Iraq's WMD, the threat Iraq posed to the U.S., and Iraq's ties to al Qaeda? Would you support retroactive impeachment as a means to demonstrate your call for impeaching Bush is motivated by justice rather than partisan politics?

[...] Already, 42% of Americans believe that Bush should be impeached if (a charge for which the evidence is plentiful, and which is already the belief of the majority) he lied about the reasons for going to war. That’s about as many as tell pollsters that the President is doing a good job, and more than support Congress. Times is tough for the Bushists. So, as PGL notes and as we have already seen, all that can be done is to hope that irrelevent (and, as far as I care to tell, baseless) smears of Joseph Wilson can distract and confuse - which was, after all, the whole point of the White House’s leaking of Plame’s identity in the first place. It can’t be allowed to work. [...]

Jim: You forgot to mention that Clinton admitted lying to a grand jury (after his DNA was found on Monica's dress) and to date their is no evidence President Bush misled the nation. In God we trust , all others must have proof.

Its difficult to be optimistic about the obvious. What I find most interesting is that 41 percent in favor of clinton vrs 42 in favor of Bush. And this is with a 6 year constant compaign by the right to "get" Clinton, vrs a free ride by the press. If the Press were doing its job, I think the Bush would be hoping for a 42%. The press has given the administration a free ride on the following subjects: (hopefully this will change)..

Jeff Gannon's sexcapades in the white house (Roves special friend??? perhaps)
Illegal War
Misleading the American public about the connection between Iraw and 9/11, a shameful offense.
Leaking the name of a CIA agent to press
etc etc

Non of these things have been given the attention they deserve by the media. What incentive do they have? If they report anything negative against this administration, they lose their access to "news".

This administration talks alot about the founding fathers. Each of the FF must rolling in their graves. The irony, ohhhh the irony..

Suggestion for the Democrats in 2008. Run on a campaign of bring decency back into the white house. Looking very forward to how this Jeff gannon thing plays out. There are very few in the white house who could have authorized his access.

Back to being pessimistic. Do I expect the media to do their jobs.... NO. Don't be surprised if we do get 4 more years of bush in 2008, and all that that implies.

Please . . . you liberals are becoming more pathetic every day. "Kerry lost because of the Christians!" - "Karl Rove is an evil genius . . . that's why Bush won!" - "people who live in red states are stupid!"

It's no wonder John Kerry is sitting at home with his dick in his hand rather than sitting in the white house. The hysterics and exagerations of the left repelled the middle. Oh sure . . . . like typical liberals, you refuse to take any responsibility for your loss. But face it . . . you LOST. You lost because of your own stupidity. I mean, my god, you lost against Bush . . . he's a dope . . . how much you must have sucked in your strategy and execution to lose against Bush.

You guys are the losers of all time losers!!!! And you won't learn . . . you keep adhering to your self-indulgent loser ways - you will lose again, because you won't learn from your mistakes. You won't even acknowledge responsibility for your loss. You want Bush to acknowledge his mistakes in Iraq . . . why? He won - you lost. How 'bout acknowledging that you couldn't even win against a dope!! I feel sorry for you . . .a little.

Group Calls For Bush Impeachment, Cites Poll

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - A nationwide group opposed to President Bush's policies cites a new poll as showing that it is time for a serious national dialogue on the impeachment of Bush and other top officials.

The Zogby International poll found that 42% would support impeachment, while 50% would oppose. Even 25% of Republicans would now support impeaching Bush. Support was never so great for the impeachment of Bill Clinton. Shortly prior to his impeachment, an NBC poll found that only 27% favored impeachment while 69% opposed. Even after Clinton admitted lying and was impeached, a USA Today poll found only 36% supported convicting Clinton in the Senate, while 60% opposed.

ImpeachCentral.com is calling on Congress to open investigations of possible crimes committed by top officials by passing a Resolution of Inquiry into the charges that would be the first step to a possible impeachment. Sophie G. de Vries, co-founder of ImpeachCentral.com, noted that "for 42% to support impeachment when public discussion of impeachment has not really even started is astonishing. We expect support to grow substantially once people begin hearing more about it. Even in the Bush states in the South and Midwest, there is a significant fraction of people who would support impeachment."

It is a felony to mislead Congress or any federal investigators such as the 9/11 Commission. "If Bush misled Congress when he gave them the State of the Union speech, he committed a serious impeachable offense," said Bob Fertik, president of Democrats.com, an affiliate of ImpeachCentral.com. "There is ample evidence suggesting that he should have known that what he said was not true."

Richard M. Mathews, the Southern California Director of ImpeachCentral.com, said, "We impeached Clinton for lying about sex. It seems that Bush has lied about national security." Echoing O.J. Simpson's lawyer, Johnny Cochran, he added, "If Bush lied in the speech, we must impeach."

"The Downing Street Memo corroborates statements made by 'deep throats' with access inside the White House, including Richard Clarke, Paul O'Neill, and Bob Woodward," according to Mathews. "A credible case has been made that laws were broken by Bush and his top people. To block an investigation of these felony charges is to cover-up criminal actions. As we learned from Watergate, the cover-up can be as dangerous as the original crime."

The so-called Downing Street Memo was written by the head of British intelligence. It is the official minutes of a British Prime Minster's meeting before the Iraq War, and it reports on meetings with White House officials. The memo declared, "Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

As we move into the Independence Day holiday, the group noted the similarities to our Founding Fathers' fight against King George III. Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence that "when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce [the people] under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

"We now face a fight against President George II," says de Vries. "Protecting the laws of the country is as patriotic as you can get."

"If Nixon taught us anything," said, Fertik, "it is that the President is not above the law. Congress wrote these laws for all of us."

ImpeachCentral.com is a nationwide organization of thousands of activists dedicated to the impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for violating the laws of the United States. While the Bush administration has violated the Constitution on numerous occasions, the group is focusing on the lies they told the American people and Congress which led the country into the disastrous Iraq War. These lies were confirmed when the Times of London published the secret Downing Street Memo.

Darth - you are so right!
I found MoveOn last spring and recommend it (even if I am a Republican). The other thing we need to do is praise, commend, slather-up and even give money to ANY member of Congress who stands up against the administration. Be it ever so humble, or even if it's self-serving, if they take a stand away from the herd, let 'em know you appreciate them. Start with the "gang of 14." I'm not sure if that was a good idea or not, but they stood up!

Especially communicate with moderate Republicans, they have the most to lose. They not only get pressure from their own leadership but they stand to lose party funding in their next election. And they suffer the wrath of the administration even more than the Democrats.
There is so little publicity on those who are trying to expose what's happening. John Conyers Jr., Henry Waxman, Byron Dorgan and several others REALLY shine in the House.
They are trying to provide information on the shenannigans. What a thankless job! They need our support and input from people who can help.
And we need to keep the pressure on local media. Most local outlets have websites, local and national columnists have email addresses. I was talking to a local columnist and he welcomes ideas and information, especially with backup resources. He says it isn't easy writing 3-6 columns a week. Even important hot topics need fresh angles. So it's a way we can help. If we get involved, maybe we can get back a media that isn't scared of its own shadow.

I agree on Santorum, et al. Harris, Ralph Reed in GA, and the Secretary of State in Ohio -- all running for office with the full faith and credit of the right wing behind them. DeLay should be forced to resign. And he's got some new pals that need to talk to the Ethics Committee: Robert Ney and Randy Cunningham.

There are some days when I feel like "duck and cover" should be brought back! It's coming in from all sides!

And we need to keep the pressure on local media. Most local outlets have websites, local and national columnists have email addresses. I was talking to a local columnist and he welcomes ideas and information, especially with backup resources. He says it isn’t easy writing 3-6 columns a week. Even important hot topics need fresh angles. So it’s a way we can help. If we get involved, maybe we can get back a media that isn’t scared of its own shadow.

I agree on Santorum, et al. Harris, Ralph Reed in GA, and the Secretary of State in Ohio — all running for office with the full faith and credit of the right wing behind them. DeLay should be forced to resign. And he’s got some new pals that need to talk to the Ethics Committee: Robert Ney and Randy Cunningham.

There are some days when I feel like “duck and cover” should be brought back! It’s coming in from all sides!
