White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan took questions from the press today aboard Air Force One. No one asked him about Karl Rove’s role in outing undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame.
Yesterday, McClellan held a press conference and no one asked him about Karl Rove’s role in outing undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame.
In fact, no member of the White House press corps has asked McClellan about Rove’s role in the Plame outing since his lawyer admitted on Saturday that Rove was one of Matt Cooper’s sources. (And there are plenty of good questions to ask.)
Why is the White House press corps ignoring this story?
White House Press Corps Blackout On Rove
White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan took questions from the press today aboard Air Force One. No one asked him about Karl Rove’s role in outing undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame….
July 6th, 2005 at 4:36 pmthe wash post had a story today regarding an interview rove did yesterday with wp editors and reporters. apparently they asked rove, and he refused to comment.
July 6th, 2005 at 4:39 pmBecause there is absolutely nothing more terrifying to them than to be accused of having a liberal agenda.
July 6th, 2005 at 4:40 pmRove has a liberal agenda? I knew it! After all, when the terrorist struck on 9/11, his boss prepared indictments and offered therapy and understanding. Just a few weeks ago Bush was bragging about the indictments he brought. He had a prominent campaign commercial where he hugged a young daughter of a 9/11 victim. And when told Iraq did not attack us he said, “I understand that!”
July 6th, 2005 at 4:42 pmIt’s that nasty “Left Wing Media”, ya, right! How about this: the Republicans have the corporate media in thier pockets. It is pathetically sad what passes for news reporting and equaly pathetic how believed the propaganda is! My hope is someone will start a real news outlet, something based in the reality founded world we live in. There has got to be a market for something not ressembling the terrified and sycophant media that currently “sells”. Boy does it sell!
July 6th, 2005 at 4:43 pmI think this is a matter that should just fade away quietly without any major trauma to the nation, just like the Lewinsky affair.
July 6th, 2005 at 4:45 pmHey Karl, a word of advice…Don’t drop the soap…
July 6th, 2005 at 4:56 pmWhy won’t the corporate backed media ask about Rove? Because they are scared sh*tless of him and what he will do to them if nothing comes of the charges. Read “Bush’s Brain and see what an evil genius this guy is. I’d love to see sharing a cell block with a biker gang, but he’ll wiggle out of it somehow. It’s up to Air America, the bloggers and independent news sources to make the drum beat so loud, they can’t ignore it.
July 6th, 2005 at 5:07 pmThis looks as if it will be slow, legal wrangling, with mind-numbing excuses and diversion. Be cautious.
The focus seems to be on the reporters’ ability to withhold source’s ID rather than the case itself. While I respect that greatly, each case should be judged, as it seems to be currently, on its own in relation to the cause of the investigation. The ‘hesitant whistle-blower’ theory doesn’t cut it for me, for accomadations can be arranged. Some of the defense of J. Miller by the MSM sounds like people that are more scared of losing their jobs. We need REAL reporters anyway.
July 6th, 2005 at 5:38 pmBecause, “Ask the right questions and you get to keep your press pass. Ask the wrong questions and you’re looking in from the outside.” This administration has shown contempt for the free press and public access. To wit, more documents are being classified as “Secret” than ever before in US history while at the same time, the discovery process is now the slowest in US history. These folks don’t want anyone to know what they are doing so they have eliminated the need to be responsbile both to the press and to public inquiry.
So far, it’s working!
July 6th, 2005 at 5:40 pmThe WH press corps can’t all be married to undercover CIA operatives.
July 6th, 2005 at 6:17 pmBring back Jeff Gannon, maybe he’ll ask. Seriously, this is like the DSM, wait until it’s talked about and polled, and the country starts paying attention, and the MSM will follow. Keep it buzzing.
July 6th, 2005 at 6:49 pmthe fix is in.
July 6th, 2005 at 6:55 pmWho are the people in the Washington Press corp? Do they have email addresses? Put up their names and email addresses and get people writing them. How about mention them by name in an article asking why this person or that person didn’t ask the pertinent questions? Ask why they are refusing to do their jobs, but USE THEIR NAMES!!!!! They aren’t protected under any kind of law, as a matter of fact they are in the public forum so they don’t have the same privacy rights that ordinary citizens do.
July 6th, 2005 at 6:59 pmI am just appalled that the only thing being discussed about this case is whether two reporters are willing to give up their sources. The fact that Karl Rove has been put out there now as a source–is not even mentioned!!!
July 6th, 2005 at 7:18 pmGod help us if reporters now become the villains in news stories and not the real culprits. Outing a CIA undercover agent is a felony–a federal offense. George Bush ,SR. called it tantamount to TREASON. I hope and pray that Ambassador Wilson will not allow this to just go away. It’s been 2 years already and enough is enough.
I think they are afraid of Karl Rove. I know that I am. Look what has been done to the press in Iraq. Then look at Hunter Thompson and Gary Webb. It has to be tough to commit suicide by shooting yourself twice in the face.
July 6th, 2005 at 7:24 pmGiven the rumors that abounded about Rove and Gannon/Gluckert, Rove may just _want_–nay, _need_–to drop the soap!
July 6th, 2005 at 7:26 pmIf you ask me, Rove is showing us all what a genious he really is. On the premise that Rove picked Miller, Cooper, and Novak to leak the name of Plame. Novak the Prince complied completely. Cooper printed a story smearing Wilson but didn’t print Plame’s name. But Miller didn’t report this story at all….correct? If you looked at it from this angle, one would wonder if prosecutor Fitzgerald has a partisan agenda and is singling out Miller and more specifically…the New York Times for not obeying to smear Wilson and out Plame. So assuming this is Rove’s ploy…it’s genious. Takes the spotlight off yourself and at the same time send a message to all ethical journalists by backstabbing one of your very own mole’s inside the New York Time’s. This will push the media even further into the hollow, superficial world of info-tainment Michael Jackson type coverage that we all are completely sick of.
Then again this might not be the case at all. Miller’s attorney, Bob Bennett, was just asked today (on MSNBC) if the rumour that Miller was actually the leaker of Plame’s name to Rove was true. Bennett suspiciously dodged this question. This is a possiblity when you consider Miller’ history with regards to her WMD and Oil for Food reporting. Plus, with her image as an elitist Bush stenographer mole, she is probably the country’s worst representative of an ethical and independant press. So defending her and sympathizing is tough.
What doesn’t make sense is why they even asked Miller and Cooper to testify in the first place considering we now know that prosecutor Fitzgerald has admitted that he already knows who the sources are. If so, why the hell does he need their sources?
July 6th, 2005 at 7:38 pmIf so, why the hell does he need their sources?
Federal prosecution for treason and/or perjury require two live witnesses.

July 6th, 2005 at 7:48 pmGee, let’s see.
They didn’t ask about the 2000 elections – slash – selection. They didn’t ask about ENRON. They didn’t ask about Iraq, Gannon, the 2004 elections and the Downing Street Memo’s – mind you I’m just bringing up some of the most horrendous – what makes you think that Rove, the man that is the “axle” in the “Axis of Evil”, like Gobbels before him, (and if the reference to Nazi Germany offends you – stick it up your ass) the man that has done something only the lowest of the low would stoop to do would be “news”?
What? Being a traitor to your country is more despicable with the stench of corruption then the formentioned?
May I give credit here to Gil Scott Heron: “The revolution will not be tevelvised.”
If you don’t recognize that it’s time – then the time has already past you by.
July 6th, 2005 at 7:52 pmI agree, this is terrible and all, but this is nothing new under Bush’s fascist regime. The mainstream print media have no ethic’s or independance left. Especially if you compare the press of today, to the press of the 1970’s-1980’s. It’s hard to sympathize for a bourgeous establishment-type figure like Miller when she hypocritically wraps herself in the Constitution.
As far as the court being “activists” by targeting Miller, and not Novak, by unfairly keeping vital document’s from the defense attorney’s, is criminal and completely un-demcratic. But under Bush, this is absolutely nothing new. Just look at the Sibel Edmond’s case. The activism in the Sibel Edmond’s case is something out of the 3rd Reich. Where’s all the noise in the Edmond’s case? Edmonds, in my opinion, is waaaaay more credible than Miller IMO. Edmond’s has proven to be very brave and honest and way more admirible. She doesn’t have any MSM reporters screaming the 1st Amendment for her.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:03 pmNice take gonnuts. Excellent point. I’m drooling for a friggin revolution. Unfortunately America is either too fat, too lazy, or on meds.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:06 pmFat people don’t revolt.
This round of fascists learned from the past’s failures.
Germany, 1938.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:18 pmAmerica, 2005.
TREASON . It has no expiry date.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:19 pmSay it loud and often.
50+ million Americans would be hard to ignore.
We interrupt this story about Karl Rove betraying America to bring you this.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:30 pmThis just in….we are following Michael Jackson, who is travelling in a black SUV. He appears to be going nowhere in particular. His motorcade has just left Neverland and is traveling South.
Now to Don Farmer in Chopper 7 for our LiveChopper News.
We will resume normal broadcast of Karl Rove after we check in to see if Scott Peterson is still in prison and a full evaluation of his current mental condition.
Sibel Edmond – indeed. As I referenced – one of many scandals. And whether we’re too anything? No matter. This will all end soon.
Again, the obvious is the obvious. Soon conditions will be so bad (they may be already beyond repair)that when oil tops $100 – remember the shit has already hit the fan at $60 – when the entergy really does run out – all of this – we won’t be talking about.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:35 pmTalk of revolution is a good way to energize the country. I actually hear it on very right wing forums populated with military and Law enforcement types, I kid you not. Do not think the GOP hacks who troll this and other blogs are representative of the vast majority of the right leaning population. But take a lesson from the Maoists, let these imperialist idiots beat themselves to death on the rocks of their own empire, that’s what they are doing right now, and destroying the military in the process. Military people aren’t stupid. They know this instinctively. When the time comes, the next revolution in this country will be more of a bloodless coup.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:36 pmgonnuts, where do we sign up? I’m ready and I know many of us here have been ready for a revolution for some time. We have the technology to organize and communicate, we have the raison d’etre, we have the fire in our bellies. Let’s change the course of this ship. Where do we start? Can we organize a group, start a petition, just get our asses to DC and camp out? I’m past ready. It’s time we stopped typing and started acting.
Let’s take our loyal friend Susan’s advice and get on the vote to impeach bandwagon. When do we need to be in DC again Susan?
July 6th, 2005 at 8:36 pmOne thing that does give me hope.
We certainly have a better sense of humor.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:37 pmBecause the press is a propaganda blast machine, it isn’t the free press anymore. The only lie bigger than WMDs in Iraq is the ‘liberal press’.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:38 pmRead this:
http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2005/06/hunting-of-liberals.html
July 6th, 2005 at 8:40 pmKillCon,
I’d like to hear more from you. What far right sites are you referring to? Are these military/law enforcement types talking coup? Are CIA people ready to revolt? I agree that they are stewing in their own juices but we need people on the inside to start to show courage (there have already been some and all have suffered the same smeared fate) and speak the truth about what they are privy to.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:42 pmFirst – don’t follow me. Please.
Next – the revolution is here. It will just get more intense. And I’m being very liberal here with the word intense.
There are many creditable groups that I’m sure you are already formilar with – MoveOn, and such, for right now, before it gets to the serious part, politicains respond to two things – money and public opinion. Call, write – not just once, often – bug your friends to do the same. Print form letters they can sign and make them pay for the postage. Find out who in your area is organizing. If no one is – you do it. Make a fucking pest of yourself. Carry a sign. Print one up and place it in the window of your vehicle. Wear a button. Make comments. Ask questions. Piss people off.
When all this fails … then it gets serious. Hopefully (which I don’t have much of) we can avoid this part.
July 6th, 2005 at 8:59 pm“Karl Röverer”s outing of Plame was pure treason. But I would expect no less from the proud grandson of a German concentration camp builder. I guess it was fate: Karl’s granddad was probably in cahoots with Pappy Prescott Bush (who was a notorious WWII war profiteer). These crooks have spent decades perfecting treason. We need to work just as tirelessly to throw these Benedict Arnolds out of our government chambers.
July 6th, 2005 at 9:28 pmJay, thanks for the compliment,
“Let’s take our loyal friend Susan’s advice and get on the vote to impeach bandwagon. When do we need to be in DC again Susan?”

July 6th, 2005 at 9:50 pmThe white house press are stenographers. They are afraid to really do their job. Too bad for all of us. And I guess Rove is a pretty scary guy. Looks like a geek to me.
July 6th, 2005 at 10:05 pmC’mon, what do you expect from the White House press corps? I mean, it’s not like Rove got a blow job, or something serious like that!
July 6th, 2005 at 10:07 pmNo-one in the Whitehouse press corp is going to ask the probing questions. They are all part of the MSM. All the owners of all the MSM outlets are owned by fat-cat repubs. Therefore none of the reporters in the press corp are going to put their jobs on the line by embarrassing their bosses or the Bush administration. What I can’t figure out is how come Helen Thomas hasen’t asked the tough ones. Maybe she didn’t get to go with the press corp goofs ’cause she does ask the hard ones.
July 6th, 2005 at 10:18 pmIt doesn’t matter. It’s just another diversion from the real crime: the war in Iraq. Even if he’s convicted of something, he’ll be pardoned on Bush’s last day in office.
In the mean time, he’s delivered the presidency to Bush twice, helped increase the Republican’s majority, struck fear into the hearts of Democrats, convinced half of the U.S. that if you critisize Bush you hate America, made the media into a giant proaganda machine, and enabled Bush to trample the constitution and our liberty and privacy while funneling our taxpayer’s money to his corporate buddies. Not a bad record. I think Mr. Rove will spend the rest of his days in wealth and comfort.
July 6th, 2005 at 10:21 pmIMHO Judi Miller’s a traitor. She’s being played up as a ‘martyr’ when she’s really on a Rove-inspired strategic counterstrike against the freedom of the press and her own employer, the NY Times. Goebbel’s aint got shit on Rove.
July 6th, 2005 at 10:24 pmThe little drummer girl of Bush’s War is willing to take one for the team. Like a good mafiosa soldier she’ll take the fall. Now that is loyalty but then the one thing GWB admires as much as power is loyalty. It’s just too bad that more lazy, complacent, fat cat journalists couldn’t join her in the slammer. Hope springs eternal.
July 6th, 2005 at 10:30 pmAs I stated in another post. I believe
we must hit them in the wallet. A national
strike would do just that. Close some of
the nationa interstates with trucks. Block
railroads with large objects. France shuts
down the whole country and it gets the
goverments attention pretty fast.
I agree that just typing here does not do
much to bring down the gov’t or get their
attention. It worked in St. Martin FWI when
they were tired of sending their taxes to
France and were paying more than Guadalupe.
One time they shut both roads to the airport
and many tourists missed their flights. Then
the next year they placed a crane and an
18 wheeler blocking the road and going around
the island added 2 hours to get there.
It worked France stopped the practice. Civil
July 6th, 2005 at 10:37 pmdisobediance is the only lawful way to do it.
Unless we can get the armed forces to revolt.
Just a thought.
Forget impeachment nail the entire Administration with the 1990’s War Crimes Act. No Cheney, Hastert et al to bare their greedy mugs.
Every republican who has stood in the way of an independent investigation,by silence condoned,by lack of action confirmed the actions of this administration are just as guilty and may be tried as War Criminals.
In a gang like this you can always count on the “tragic” figure ala Shakespeare. The thing that makes you great is also your tragic flaw. Rove, Rove, Rove, Rove…………..
July 6th, 2005 at 10:41 pmUSA Medic
An aquaintance of mine, a staunch Republican, explained this to me.
Mr. Bush has been elected in order to bring about Biblical prophecy. “The world must be destroyed in order that the chosen will be raptured to Jesus.” Counting of votes will be outlawed. After all, everyone other than the chosen few are already dead. We require more war. More death. All other than the chosen should die for the greater glory of Bush. The air, the water, everything must be polluted. The so called Democrats and all opposition are impotent and nothing.
I would say that the results confirm this is truth. As is said, the proof is in the putting. The results speak for themselves.
I see a few of us fighting what appears to be a losing battle. I wish I were wrong.
Michael Walz
July 6th, 2005 at 10:42 pmI still don’t understand why Novak has not been more in the news. He started it.
July 6th, 2005 at 10:56 pmTwo live witnesses??: Novak and Cooper. Miller is just “being one” with the administration and being a loyal to the Rover. But they may need her testimony cause they really only have one witness who knows who leaked.(?) It is all very interesting and confusing.Lets hope this Fitzgerald is true to his job.
Anyone have the whitehouse press corps list.?
The White House press knows what the rest of us don’t: Karl Rove rules this nation and crossing him endangers their careers. Until next year when the electorate, which is starting to regurgitate the Bush gruel, punishes the GOP in congressional elections.
July 6th, 2005 at 11:00 pmre: #43 – it’s in the PUDDING . . . yum yum.
But alas, you who know too much and feel less than sanguine about our plight need to remember that even the ‘burbs are awakening. Blogging has caused MSM to open its jaundiced corporate eye: Back-to-back – the increasing visibility of the Downing Street Memos, and now with Rovegate abrewing, it’s no wonder that 42% of the Fox/MSNBCd sheeple dare to speak the I-word!! Rovegate is just starting . . .
The earth is moving, the sea is turning.
July 7th, 2005 at 1:24 amWith Congress’ approval rating now at 33%, it’s quite conceivable the neutered and DLCd Dems could re-take the House. Conyers would then chair the Judiciary Committee, where impeachment begins. Could happen . . . Keep that chin up, we need you whole, intact, and healthy to keep pushing to create a more progressive history.
it’s no mystery… why would reporters rat out the very guy who has set himself up as their major “inside source” at the wh…?
July 7th, 2005 at 2:00 amRovegate
July 7th, 2005 at 2:39 amAs lucious as the thought of Rove in chains is, it won’t happen. If Rove is indicted for anything Bush will pardon him. Rove is the one man who knows ALL the dirt on everyone and everything, he also has a well proven vindictive streak Just imagine the deal he cut with any grand jury, I mean where to begin?
Hold on for a minute here. Karl Rove is a genius. How many times have we heard/said that. Am I the only person who noticed that a few days ago the story of how Rove was the “Plame source” was about to hit the fan, but has since evaporated? What happened? This is pure textbook Rove. This is the CBS document scandal all over again. Rove, gets the press to overplay their hand trying to be first with the story. When it turns out he’s not the source (or when it gets pinned on someone else), He can scream liberal media bias, and cower the press even more than it already is (if that’s possible). Knowing he has allies in the press, such as the trio of Novak/Miller/Cooper, they pile on, and suddenly “biased” questions disappear, just in time for Supreme Court nominations. Is it me, or are we really, really, stupid to keep falling for this?
July 7th, 2005 at 4:44 amI guess I just don’t get it.
Miller, Cooper, and Novak all received what would seem to be “classified information” (identity of an undercover CIA agent). As none of the reporters did not immediately report the reception of this information to authorities would seem to make them just as guilty as the leaker. Then the fact that they published this information would make them and their editors guilty of treason. And on top of it all, they admit to knowing who passed on the information but say that they agreed with the leaker to be silent, would seem to make them all guilty of conspiracy!
Hang em high!
July 7th, 2005 at 6:51 amWhat troubles me more is the desultory whorl in which you and the rest of Americans respond.
On a milder note, let me ask you all something…
IS THERE EVEN A UNION OF JOURNALISTS IN THE UNITED STATES?
If not– since media is corporately owned, shouldn’t there be? or should there be?
July 7th, 2005 at 7:17 amKillCon,
I’d like to hear more from you.
Comment by Jay
Jay, suffice it to say that as time passes, more people will wake up from the kool-aid hangover. They are still right wingers, rabidly so, but Bush just isn’t. He is not providing the smaller, limited Gov. or fiscal responsibility he promised. Some of these guys have been over there, some are on there way, and most who enlist and go are Democrats, most who were in already are conservatives. Also, the troops know when they are getting the shaft. I’m not saying some of these guys would ever vote Democratic, not the hardcore conservatives, but they are not as happy with Bush as they were in Nov. 2004. If you believe Wayne Madsen, and many do, the CIA has been slowly putting the screws on this administration for the last 2 years.
http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/060804_coup_detat.html
I am skeptical of Madsen’s stuff at times, but he keeps getting it right. It’s difficult to argue with success.

July 7th, 2005 at 1:18 pmRove gets swept under the rug
Which is what baffles me most about the media particularly those covering the White House or the President. When the opportunity comes to ask a different question about a different piece of information that is out there, why not take it? It isn’t lik…
July 7th, 2005 at 1:24 pmI just do not get how this man gets away with all of this.
I believe dating back to TX and Bush’s run there -
SC McCain he went for for the cut throat in that with the fibs he threw out there about McCain (how can the man forgive Rove??)
Look at anyone who stands up and throws America a red flag about Iraq?
9/11, you get pounced -
I guess it’s up to us to sit in misery and blog.
July 7th, 2005 at 1:41 pmClinton had sex
Nixon left
there has to be deep throat on Bush… people die he lies
and Rove (where does he get CIA identity to clear people??)
how does he know this?
ugh
After the judges gave him the first presidency,,,,51% of american voters gave him the second term. That makes those bubbleheads really …really …really DUMB!
July 7th, 2005 at 2:28 pm[...] Not a single question. Not one: [N]o member of the White House press corps has asked McClellan about Rove’s role in the Plame outing since his lawyer admitted on Saturday that Rove was one of Matt Cooper’s sources. [...]
July 7th, 2005 at 3:41 pmLet me get this straight – Dan Rather reports on Bush hiding (in the National Guard – if he ever showed up) and Cheney not serving (5 deferments) in the military and their country and Dan gets run out of CBS – Miller and Cooper report about Novak’s column and they go to jail. Kerry, McCain, Max Cleland and other true war heros are treated like traitors? Novak (the right winger) isn’t even questioned? Uh-huh. Are 50% of Americans not getting it? Now a $5b contract to Halliburton? Reagan put the country $5trillion dollars in debt – republicans are then handed a surplus from Bill and piss it away after all their complaints about the debt and Bill’s private life. What is it gonna take to convince the “conservatives” (what a joke) that their leaders are full of it?
July 7th, 2005 at 4:11 pmGeorge you are correct.
July 7th, 2005 at 4:33 pmThe one thing I still don’t understand is why no one is going after Robert Novak? He should be charged with Treason IMO.
Thanks
Personally, I don’t want to bother with impeaching Bush because we’ll be left with his garbage; Karl, Donny, Dicky, Madam evil-eye Rice, Gonzales, et.al. I say put Dubya up for war crimes, then we’ll go after the rest of the trash for doing what they do best:plenty of illegal AND unethical practices (maybe even get a refund from Bechtel and Halliburton and subsidiaries). After that, the country will already be in shambles, so we might as well get busy with Congress and clean “house”…They’ve been collecting too many of my hard-earned tax dollars helping to create such a friggin’ disaster.
July 7th, 2005 at 4:38 pmSheesh! “Culture of Life” MY ASS!!! Now, I ask you, WWJD…
George
Please do not distinguish the courage and valor of war heros John McCain and Max Cleland by grouping them with John Kerry. They actually finished their tours in Viet Nam. They received Purple Hearts for real wounds. ( Kerry lost no time for his 3 scratches) They did not invoke a petty rule to leave combat after 3 very questionable no lost time wounds. Kerry went to Viet Nam to pad his resume and has only been able to fool the people of his home state.
George: You forgot to mention the pass Clinton got from the press on his service in the Guard. At least Dubya showed up , some of the time. He didn’t send a letter to explain his loathe of the military, then forget his draft notice.
July 7th, 2005 at 6:25 pmBigmarunga, you are in the wrong room, perhaps even the wrong dimension. Rove commits treason, the press says nothing, we can no longer claim that no one is above the law, Democracy as we’ve known it goes to hell, and still the greater concern is Kerry’s purple hearts? Astonishing. Even Bush questioned McCain’s patriotism in 2000. According to the right, all silver stars are fakeable, too. This is what the current crop of suckers, a.k.a. soldiers have to look forward to when/if they return from Iraq. The Downing Minutes says they’re all war criminals now, for killing in an illegal war.
Rove must fry. But, short of revolution, he won’t. Bush will pardon. And the press will praise the “healing process” this will impersonate.
I don’t personally condone violence in any shape or form, but I’m beginning to understand why our Founding Father’s insisted on the right for citizen’s to bear arms against a tyrranical government. Pray it doesn’t come to that.
July 7th, 2005 at 7:00 pmI agree with everybody!
But I have a couple of nagging questions: Time and Cooper have stated that Cooper was given permission from his “source” to go public. Miller didn’t get such permission. If it’s Rove in both cases, why would he: (1) confirm that he’s the perp of a possible criminal act or (2) NOT give the same treatment to both, especially since she didn’t write an article? What’s the point unless it IS to “punish the NYT” for NOT doing as commanded.
Novak talked to the grand jury. Let’s say he blabbed — with or without the “source” giving permission. Let say the grand jury wants corroboration on that evidence — which would be why Cooper and Miller become involved. So what does Novak have on Rove? He’s not talking “until the right moment” — probably when he starts his book tour?
You have to be right about Rove — he knows where all the skeletons are buried. He helped do ‘em in. Kinda the J Edgar Hoover of the 21st century!
But I get the feeling Bush doesn’t care. He wants a legacy as President. He’s got it already — the WORST President in the history of the United States. In his twisted logic, that puts him right up there with Washington and Lincoln; ahead of Nixon, Reagan and Clinton — even JFK. But most importantly, ahead of his Daddy. In future history books, Bush ‘41 will be known as the father of Dubya. The worst outcome for Dubya would be to finish in the same category as Harrison, Tyler, Filmore and Pierce. Sure, he’d love to have been the Savior of America; but if not well, what the hell.
I’m not sure impeachment is that easy to do to a “Commander-in-Chief” while troops are in harm’s way. I’d sure hate the idea of trying it and having him get off. I’m reading more about war crimes trials, treason or other such offences.
Maybe we only have to wait a few months. If KBR keep feeding the troops out-dated food that’s been shot up en route to the mess hall, it’s only a matter of time before a couple of GI’s get a bullet or shrapnal in their mac and cheese. And if the troops revolt; it’s “Katy bar the door!”
bigmarunga: I agree in general with your statements. But you’re talking about Kerry’s SECOND TOUR in Vietnam. He had already completed one. Yes, Dubya showed up — his Dad’s foot was firmly planted in his butt (maybe even his mother’s too). Daddy pulled strings, remember? Besides, Dubya wanted to be a flier — the uniforms were real babe-magnets!
July 7th, 2005 at 7:30 pmEvery powerful man that assumes he is coated with teflon has a weakness. With Bill Clinton it was women. With Nixon it was paranoia. Ford, bumbling, fumbling, stumbling….
July 7th, 2005 at 7:46 pmKennedy, more women.
My guess is just the sneaky little shit ole Karl obviously is, I’d be willing to bet his computers are crammed with kiddie porn.

White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan took questions from the press today aboard Air Force One. No…

Larry Flint where are you ?
July 8th, 2005 at 11:14 amWe don’t have news coverage any more. Ever since the neocons modern messiah, Mr. Reagan eliminated the FCC’s ability to monitor and audit news reporting, guys like Ted Turner have been able to put whatever they want on television and call it a news program. These “news” programs are actually considered entertainment, and thier ratings are monitored. Their ratings, and the personal political views of those at the top of the media power chain, are the only thing that will ever again control the end product they push on us. Karl Rove will not be fired, He will not stand down, He will not be found guilty of anything regardless of any information that has been gathered by the grand jury. For that matter, no Republican will ever have to worry about being held acountable for anything, whether it be fixing intelligence information, accepting illegal contributions, or giving up classified information about undercover personnel to exact political revenge. Even when Rummy tried to resign several times because he knew he was a crook and a schmuck, our dear pres denied him that dignity. Bush knows there is no accountability. Well, unless you are a dissenter anyway. I’d bet you a dollar that Bush could walk right up to William Rivers Pitt and shoot him in the face in broad daylight. All he would have to say in his defense was that it was a matter of national security. Keep the morons scared. They’ll give you all of thier freedoms and you won’t even have to ask.
“Beware of the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry, [who] infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this I have done. And I am Julius Caesar.” – Julius Caesar
July 8th, 2005 at 11:23 amCANCEL Newspaper subscriptions. CANCEL Cable TV. THEN they FEEL it — no money.
THEN they change their act. All the BEGGING and SHAMING on the MEDIA ain’t gonna get SQUAT.
We can always reconnect our subscriptions after Impeachment. No doubt the paper and cable company will be happy to ‘reconnect us for free.’
You and I have a BIG STICK in our hands when we hold a DOLLAR.
July 11th, 2005 at 11:41 pmWhen we give the dollar to them, we got nothing but more propaganda for information. Same as sh*t for brains, like neo-cons.
Rove will twist slowly, but it makes it little difference if he is “guilty” or not.
It’s the coverup that is most important and the perjury charges.

August 4th, 2005 at 2:23 amI would also like to know why they haven’t pressed Scott McClellan on the whole Guckert/Gannon scandal. He’s a gay male prostitute. What’s he doing at the White House late at night? Who’s he seeing and talking to? Why are the press corps such weenies?
