G’Day All:

RE: #6: The fact is that this administration is far more corrupt than the Nixon administration. If the Downing Street Minutes can be taken at face value, then this administration intentionally misled the Congress along with each and every American into an unwarranted pre-emptive war with a nation that posed no threat to our national security. In a word, this war is illegitimate; it was also ill-conceived.

As Deep Throat said thirty-some years ago: “Follow the money. Ask yourself: Who is profiting (read that: making mega-bucks) from this war? Halliburton and KBR come to mind.

Conservative estimates of non-combatant Iraqi civilian deaths since March 2003 are approaching 100 thousand – old men, women and children. There is a tremendous amount of blood on the hands of each and every insider of this administration resulting from their illegitimate, ill-conceived, unwarranted pre-emptive invasion and subsequent occupation of a sovereign nation that posed no threat to our national security or our way of life.

If morally bankrupt neo-cons (i.e. #19: Always Right – and others) wish to support this administration and its illegitimate (ill-conceived, unwarranted pre-emptive) war, let’m go for it. If they believe in this bastard war, so be it; it’s their grave they’re digging.

It is so true that you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time. Frankly, I’m of the opinion that this administration has sold more than enough of its snake oil; it’s time for them to close shop and move on, or as Ross Perot would say, “It’s time to clean out the barn.

#19 The press isn't showing their true colors, they are doing their job, asking questions that need to be asked.
The answer to 1 is: Democrats in congress know this is a hopeless cause because the Republicans have the White House, Senate and House and the investigation will most likely go nowhere.
The answer to # 2 is of course no they are not scared of Rove, they are leery of him. Better to have the ammo in the gun before going in the dark basement alone. We will see what happens in the days to come. Also look here:

Regarding #8. Republican strategists -- Rove, Luntz, etc -- understand very, very well that tens of millions of voters in this country simply do not have the mental skill set to carry a conversation beyond the first layer of discussion. That's why name calling, talking points, asininely simplistic reasoning is all you hear from right wingers. I mean, when is the last time you heard or read a right winger walk you through an issue point by point in a logical, thoughtful manner? If the day ever comes when 90 % of the people who vote red realize that they are being used by a republican machine that doesn't give a rat's ass about their real-life needs, watch out.

#19 "it looks like the press is taking upon itself to ask the White House about Rove"

You mean like, why would the press do such a thing? Aren't they supposed to just mindlessly repeat press releases?

No wonder you love Fox News, you don't even know what a free press is SUPPOSED to do...

"taking upon itself"... sad indeed.

Why doesn't somebody point out to El Jeffe Bush that, if he hadn't noticed, that Rove's Lawyer is blabbing away about the investigation. Last I heard Rove is a member of the Bush administration. Didn't he get the memo that the Leader says they are supposed to respect the preference of the Fitzgerald's office and not talk about the case? What gives here???????? Bunch of two-faced bastards. They'll talk to the press when its convenient and serves their ends but not when it comes to being held accountable.

If Dem's aren't asking the tough questions, Bush should have no trouble answering the easy ones: Will he keep his word and fire those invovled in the leak?

#13 it looks like the press is taking upon itself to ask the White House about Rove and by doing so they are showing their true colors. They have to because:

1. Democrats in congress know this is a hopeless cause and that Rove is innocent.

2. Democrats are so scared of Rove that they aren't asking the tough questions.

Which is it?

Thank you for pointing that out. I will defer to the memory of someone who seems to know.

But please don't mischaracterize my statement. I am not insinuating that this is the same as Watergate, but merely that the style of both administrations seem to have striking similarities (as John Dean pointed out at length in his book 'Worse than Watergate').

For once the press are asking tough questions, which leads me to wonder if someone unlocked the cabinet and gave them back their testicles. Problem is, Bush and McClellan are playing the old game of repeat the same statement 5,000 times until the press quits asking. Let's pray the reporters won't let up and that the public will demand real answers.

JohnS, it's not a repeat of watergate until Bush uses the word 'poppycock' to dismiss something as being out of hand, he has used the word absurd so he's getting close.

>does Bush talk like he thinks the rest of us are stupid?
Bush is stupid.
AND, he thinks the rest of us are even more stupid.

Boy, I can hardly wait until American gets an active, professional press corps.

When will one of these guys ask the iconic question:
"You have done enough; have you no sense of decency sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency? "

The Monster is smiling!!!

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-07-13-bush-rove_x.htm?POE=NEWISVA

Check out the USA Today report with the photo of Rove smiling as Bush brushes off questions!!

Bush says he'll withhold judgment on Rove -- for now

The White House said two years ago that Rove wasn't involved in the leak. Bush said last year he would fire anyone found to have leaked the identity of Valerie Plame, the wife of former U.S. diplomat Joseph Wilson. Her name was given to reporters and published in 2003 after Wilson publicly criticized the Bush administration's use of intelligence leading up to the Iraq war.

A grand jury is investigating because leaking the name of a covert CIA officer could be a crime.

Bush refused Wednesday to directly answer questions about whether he had spoken to Rove about his discussion with Cooper.

"I have instructed every member of my staff to fully cooperate with this investigation," Bush said. Rove sat stoically behind Bush during the questions about his involvement.
