Bin Laden (Still) Determined To Strike America

Tomorrow marks the four-year anniversary of the day President Bush received a President’s Daily Brief (PDB) entitled “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US.” There are many eerie similarities between now and August 6, 2001. Chief among them is that the threat of terrorism remains high, President Bush is at his ranch in Crawford, and Osama bin Laden is on the loose looking to inflict greater terrorist damage.

Bush candidly acknowledged that he was not thinking about a terrorist strike on the U.S. during the hot, pre-9/11 days at his Crawford ranch. He told Bob Woodward: “I was not on point I have no hesitancy about going after him. But I didn’t feel that sense of urgency, and my blood was not nearly as boiling.”

THEN: Bush Went on Longest Vacation In 32 Years

“By the time President Bush returns to Washington on Labor Day after the longest presidential vacation in 32 years, he will have spent all or part of 54 days since the inauguration at his parched but beloved ranch. That’s almost a quarter of his presidency.”

NOW: Bush Goes On Longest Vacation In 36 Years

“The president departed Tuesday for his longest stretch yet away from the White House, arriving at his Crawford ranch in the evening to clear brush, visit with family and friends, and tend to some outside-the-Beltway politics. By historical standards, it is the longest presidential retreat in at least 36 years.”

THEN: Bush In “Carefree” Mood

“President Bush was in an expansive mood on Aug. 7, 2001, when he ran into reporters while playing golf at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Tex. The day before, the president had received an intelligence briefing — the contents of which were declassified by the White House Saturday night — warning ‘Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US.’ But Bush seemed carefree as he spoke about the books he was reading, the work he was doing on his nearby ranch, his love of hot-weather jogging, his golf game and his 55th birthday.”

NOW: Bush In “Playful” Mood

Bush was in a playful mood as the foursome climbed into the truck and rode off. When a reporter asked if Bush actually had a driver’s license, the president replied ‘Si,’ which is Spanish for ‘yes.’”

THEN: Top of Bush Agenda Was Stem Cell, Immigration, Social Security

“But if top officials were at battle stations, there was no sign of it on the surface. Bush spent most of August 2001 on his ranch here. His staff said at the time that by far the biggest issue on his agenda was his decision on federal funding of stem cell research, followed by education, immigration and the Social Security ‘lockbox.’”

NOW: Top of Bush’s Agenda Is Stem Cell Immigration, Social Security

“But questions remain about the rest of Bush’s agenda. For one thing, many items remaining on Congress’ plate – such as Social Security private accounts, expanding federal funding for stem cell, immigration reform, and even the annual federal spending bills – are likely to spark fissures within the GOP and near-unity among Democrats.”

THEN: Bush’s Political Standing Slipping

“During that month, Bush’s top aides were concentrating on the president’s political standing: His approval rating had slipped

NOW: Bush’s Political Standing Slipping

“Americans’ approval of President Bush’s handling of Iraq is at its lowest level yet, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that also found fewer than half now think he’s honest.”

After reviewing Bush’s attitude at his ranch in August 2001, the Washington Post concluded that he “gave no sign of worry” of the danger to come. In the midst of a New York Times warning today that al Qaeda is planning to hit the U.S. with suicide bombers, has Bush learned his lesson?

  1. Theresa says:

Well, I guess having a driver’s license is the only legal thing Bush has done in the last five years…but is the registration and insurance valid?

  2. Skid says:

“…that al Qaeda is planning to hit the U.S. with suicide bombers, has Bush learned his lesson?”

Should I get ready for something? God I hope not.

  3. Yak says:

I’m sure Bush is counting on it, Skid. And plans to let it happen.

  4. Citizen80203 says:

Perhaps a new National Lampoon movie here…Presidential Vaction?

  5. Ryan Neat says:

Great time for Bush to go on a Vacation, didn’t he leave yet again for texas? Anyone hear if he washington is on alert, it would explain why the chicken crossed the road.

    He’s such a coward!

  6. Flamethrower says:

at least someone in the press knows “si” means yes in Espanol.

Boy, can’t get nuthin’ by these guys………

  7. Don says:

No, the President said “see” as he exposed himself in a carefree manner to the female reporter.

  8. Don says:

Oh — I thought you said Clinton.

  9. John the Elder says:

If anyone doubts that Bush has no conscience his five weeks vacation, while American Youth are dying for his lies and deceits, is proof positive! What a poor ecuse for a human being.

  10. ohdave says:

Bush is really French, but it’s a big secret.

That’s why he takes August off every year.

  11. Christopher says:

Bush slithered out of town just as the 1,800th Amerian soldier was killed in Iraq, and the CBS New poll showed 77% of people think he’s lying about the Plamegate investigation and, the AP-Ipsos poll shows 38% have no confidence in his handling of Iraq.

It’s no accident he’s at the pig farm for 5 weeks.

    . . .

  12. Aaron Swartz says:

Stem Cell Immigration? I think you left out a comma.

Just imagine the disaster if illegal stem cell immigration was actually happening!

  13. Alfred E. Newman says:

    What, me worry?

  14. Darth Filibustrous says:

    Good question about the license!

I was hoping the media wouldn’t ask boring questions during his vacation: like about Gen. Casey’s Iraq troop reduction statement, about what US counterterrorism strategy is besides the quagmire in Iraq, about why he hasn’t asked Rove directly whether he leaked classified information, about Bolton, and so on…

  15. Krazny says:

LOL Aaron thats a good one.

anyway, I notice our usual kool aid drinkers are quite on this post.

  16. wysiwyg says:

Hey Theresa, didn’t you hear? W’s records pertaining to his driving record were WIPED and he was given a new license.

  17. Skid says:

Bush meant “See? Now watch me drive”.

  18. Skid says:

    No more DUI for Georgie.

  19. Don says:

Darth, the media reps DO want to keep their jobs and get invited back to Crawford, you know. They know their place, and it’s not in Iraq and Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and . . . covering the real news.

  20. Ryan Neat says:

    Well,

NED and his CONservative boys who sold Plutonium Nuclear reactors to Iran, WMDs to Iraq and who funded and trained AlQueda (to fight russia?) are now selling f16s to Pakistan. And of course that gives them a pretty decisive advantage over india in the air.

These guys are such stupid greedy idiots! Just so the war machine makes a few dollars, they’ll trade international stability in a heartbeat. It’s like watching kindergarden cop graphed into westwing!

  21. Jennty says:

    #18

Ya, it’s good to be the King.

  22. Dubya says:

Hell! Bein’ president is “hard work” sayin’ all them dumb things and struttin’ and swaggerin.” I just gotta go be a windshield cowboy every few weeks, so I can be rested before I jump on that tread mill I keep in the Oval office.
Yep! It’s good to be the king. Dictators are all right too, as long as I am the dictator. See I don’t feel I have to answer to anyone.

  23. Marie says:

The damn fool should at least be embarrassed enough to stay in Washington and PRETEND to work. Oh, wait – I forgot. It takes a brain capable of abstract thoughts in order to feel embarrassed.
Young people are dying over there because of his lying arrogance and stubbornness. Iraqi children are sick and dying for the same reasons.
Saddam was a tyrant – no doubt – but the people had commerce, they had utilities, they had schools, they were functioning as a society. What do they have now? And Fearless Fosdick in the White House feels he needs to take a break. What? A working vacation? Yeah, right. Someone, quick, condense another memo into a 7 word headline, so he’ll take a few seconds to read it.

  24. renato says:

    cue the Go-Go’s:

    Vacation all I ever wanted
    Vacation, had to get away…

  25. kindness says:

I was reading over at Redstate today, I can’t post because they thought I was a liberal and had my “privlidges” revoked. They are still claiming 9/11 was Clinton’s fault .

God help the idiots in this world. The funny thing was (well, it is sad, not funny), no one disagreed. Duh.

We are being led by Homer Simpson. Now if only he’d buy me a beer.

  26. Bruce says:

I’m not worried and Bush isn’t worried and you shouldn’t be worried either.

The difference between 2001 and 2005 is that the madman Saddam Hussein is safely locked away.

Really, people. We have absolutely nothing to be worried about.

Please, go about your business and stop making trouble.

  27. Skid says:

    Bruce,

Are you trying to pull the old Jedi mind-trick on me?

  28. cynical ex-hippie says:

    (pointing to Saudi Arabia)

…these are not the Arabs you are looking for…

  29. Gary Kleppe says:

Skid: He’s just repeating GOP talking points.

If another attack does happen, he’ll come back and tell us what fools we were to not be worried, that we never should have let [insert designated enemy here] run around free, and now we’ve got to invade that person’s country before the evidence comes in the form of super-duper death ray machines aimed at Wyoming.

  30. Krazny says:

regardless of who attacks us, we will invade Iran next.

  31. Susan says:

We all know that Bin Laden is in Crawford holding hands with Bushie now that Bandur dumped him.

The ranch is fully equiped with a dialysis machine and a mountain of sex toys.

Should be a good vacation for the fella’s.

  32. Brian says:

I don’t know, krazny. Iran is far more western than Iraq.
Many of the justifications for war aren’t there as they were in Iraq.
Will you believe the Gov’t when they tell you Iran has a bomb?

  33. Skid says:

    Don’t forget Syria.

  34. darrelplant says:

Also the Hiroshima anniversary. You’d have thought that might have clued Rice into its significance. Or maybe that’s too “historical” for her.

  35. Phil says:

What a snapshot of this presidency: President golfing and weed-wacking, Vice-President in Saudi Arabia fartin’ around and divvying up with Princes, while at war.
.. and the former Secret Serviceman shill had the nerve to write “Dereliction of Duty” about Clinton.

  36. Politically Connect says:

    George takes a vacation

President Bush is going on the longest vacation of his presidency, and the longest presidential vacation in 36 years. After his upcoming vacation is complete, Bush will have spent nearly 20% of his presidency at his ranch in Crawford, TX. Though the…

  37. Skid says:

If/When we go after Syria, BushCo will try telling us that they KNOW Iraq sent their WMDs there, rather than use them against US invading forces.

Don’t think I can hold that much smoke up my ass.

  38. sid says:

I can’t wait for Hilliary to move into the White House so she can clean this mess up!

  39. Skid says:

Yea! Georgie and Hasterd are coming to Aurora Illinois in a few days! Great photo-op! How many miles away will they keep the protesters at bay?

  40. Susan says:

Hey Skid, Durbin just sent me an e-mail in response to my demand to impeach.

I couldn’t believe he wrote a personal e-mail to me. He says he’s as appalled as we are and says we need to bring our demand to all house members.

He also invited me over for coffee. Pretty cool Senator we have.

  41. always right says:

    Politically,

The president is always on call should a situation arise. I don’t remember the right giving this much grief when Clinton went on vacation. Last week, Bush was taking heat for being too fit and now he wants to get out of town. Could you blame him? I wouldn’t want to stay there either with all of the liberal nuts living there.

  42. Susan says:

Skid, I know I won’t get in. I’ve been sending Bushie a lot of mail telling him he is a coward and traitor. I know I’m black listed.

Got more info? I’d like to at least protest the visit. Aurora is only 10 miles from my house.

P.S. We gotta get Hasturd out of office.

  43. Skid says:

    Thats cool Susan.

  44. Skid says:

What are you talking about Always Votes Right-Wing?

  45. Krazny says:

I think that if clinton had gone on vacation as much as bush has, that clinton would have gotten lots of shite

  46. Zippy says:

Heard the same company that builds the Wild West town facades for Disney also did the Crawford ranch for Bush.

  47. Tovan says:

It will be Iran, it seems, not Syria, according to this bit in the “Amercian Conservative”:

    http://www.amconmag.com/2005_08_01/article3.html

  48. Dumb Fox says:

#41. We know. I expect Dubya to return in a blaze a glory to save the brain dead.

  49. Marie says:

Anyone planning to attend the Impeach Bush rally in Washington, DC on 9/24?

  50. Susan says:

Hope there’s a Caterpillar accident that day.

  51. Don says:

Bruce, I don’t care what you say, I’m worried and scared. First they told me we’re attacking them there so they won’t attack us here, but now after London they’re teling us we’re going to get attacked no matter WHAT we do. And now this Crawford thing — where fratboy is carefree and ‘not on point’ again –could it be 9/11 redux?

  52. Skid says:

    Susan,

Perhaps Hasterd will have another pig-roast for this occasion. Pork is on the menu.

  53. Susan says:

    I am, Marie.

A week after that I’m walking from Chicago to Springfield, Illinois to the Governors office with an education petition.

I’m raising funds for the walk but using my own money to get to D.C.

I think I’ve convinced my mom to meet me in D.C. She lives in MA so it’s a short drive for her.

  54. G.S. says:

Instead of “Dereliction of Duty” one of Bushs’ S.S. men will write “Howdy Duty”………….(doody)

  55. Marie says:

#42 Susan, I feel the FBI has a folder on me too, for all the mail I send, letters to papers, etc. When someone posts the information on the planned visit to Aurora, I will be very interested as I am less than 20 miles away. According to today’s paper, I am not sure the Bush visit is a done deal. They may cool their jets until the last minute, thereby foiling those of us who might need a day or two to plan. I will need time to remove all those bumper stickers from my car dare I get myself arrested for simply being there (you heard about Colorado?)

  56. Skid says:

    Zippy,

    How about Neverland Ranch?

  57. sanders says:

    Skid,

The pork has been served! In the form of energy and highway bills

  58. Larry Epke says:

    “Now watch this drive!”

  59. Susan says:

Skid, if pork is on the menu then I think it is safe to say the there will be a Hasturd roast.

I’m sure there will be an ozone action alert as a result.
I’ll be sure to bring a nebulizer.

  60. Skid says:

    Denny won’t let me in.

  61. Susan says:

I’ve been waiting for Bushie to come to Illinois. I’ve been saying all along that he’s too chicken to go to a blue state. He’ll either back out or do like Marie said and come in with no hoopla.

I’ve never known a president who is as afraid as Bushie. Says something about his own perception of himself.

  62. The Northeast Dilemma says:

I LOVE THIS POST!!! This moron gets elected President, vacations all the time, let’s America get attacked…..yet – you still CAN’T BEAT HIM. As a matter of fact, Democrats have suffered historic losses under Bush’s failed leadership. What does that tell you about the state of liberalism today?

Susan – how’s weight watchers working out for ya?

  63. Zippy says:

FOX REPORTER: How many servicemen died today mister President?

    Prez: WHACK! …… Fore!

FOX REPORTER: Relax. Told you he was on top of things people.

  64. Skid says:

    How’s AA treating ya, DilEnema?

I bet if I wear my old Hank Williams Jr. shirt I’ll get in.

  65. Skid says:

    YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAWWWW!

  66. Susan says:

The only thing Bushie is on top of is Bin Ladens lap.

And to Ned, nice to see that your enjoying your minority status. Do all the patients feel as you do or do the meds work for some?

  67. Christopher says:

Is Pickles conveniently “away” for the 5 weeks Bush is in residence?

She usually is. She roams around New York, the Kennebunkport compound, or the Bush ranch down in Zacatecas, Mexico when her hubby is in town.

So much more sensible considering Bush is then free to entertain Jimmy Jeff Guckert Gannon and the 2 can play US Marines butt nekkid.

    . . .

  68. The Northeast Dilemma says:

I am so happy Democrats are still focusing on the August 6 memo and blaming Bush for letting 9/11 happen. The GOP could never have the power we have without your hatred. Thanks guys – I appreciate it.

BTW, how did you feel about President Clinton ignoring terrorism for oh, say 8 YEARS!!!!

Skid – I will be in AA when I’m good and drunk!!!

  69. Susan says:

Ned, you should try assinines anonymous. I hear fake joined and is doing a little better.

  70. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Susan – I’m sorry, are you serious. We have 55 senators, 233 house members – you couldn’t even beat that dipsh*t Jean Schmidt for God’s sake, the Presidency and now THE SUPREME COURT. Oh and Susan – it’s going to get worse. Better pray that geeser John Paul Stevens hangs on. Just one question – will you insist we remove his feeding tube too when it’s time? lol!!!

  71. Don says:

NED, please don’t use ‘Democrats’ and ‘liberalism’ in the same sequence. See, the Dems are trying to out-Bush Bush, is why they’re doing so poorly. They lost any semblance of liberalism with Clinton. So — all is forgiven — let’s you and I work on ‘em and make them realize that Democrats (think Kerry) no longer represent liberal values.

  72. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Don – that’s interesting. Kerry represented liberal values until he had to run for office. But, I’ll take your bet. Go ahead and run a liberal – and you ain’t seen nothing yet in terms of losses. Liberalism has failed and people are moving on. It’s a dirty word, but I dare you anyway….

  73. Susan says:

Your rambling again NED, maybe its time for you to get a feeding tube. I will be happy to pull it for you when you give me the nod.

  74. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Susan – I’m waiting. How can Republicans be in the minority when you control NOTHING.

  75. Susan says:

Also NED, I could care less who’s on the Supreme court. I don’t use the abortion and law like you do.

Maybe you haven’t grasped reality yet but there are many laws in this country that are broken every minute of every day. Take a look at your criminal in charge for example.

  76. Susan says:

NED, I’m sorry you cannot comprehend what the American people feel these days.

You are the minority. Only 38% support your criminal in charge.

    Go back to school idiot.

  77. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Susan – I am glad liberals are still quoting worthless polls. Gee, the AP must have gotten on the phone right after the 14 marines were killed. Talk about exploitation.

The only poll that matters is the one on Election Day. AND I promise, it only gets worse from here. Democrats have no chance in hell of winning anything – while our side is plotting our next big defeat, you guys still hung up on DeLay, Rove and whoever the smear of the week is.

We will be running on energy reform, less than 5% unemployment, tort and bankruptcy reform, and a conservative judiciary. That’s called a positive agenda. What will you be running on?

  78. Ugh says:

I would run through the “spooky” similarities between the Lincoln and Kennedy assassinations but they would be as irrelevant as this post.

  79. Susan says:

Tell you what NED, I’ll put my polls up against your crusty ol crotch anyday. The stink may knock me out but I bet I win anyway.

  80. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Susan – you’re very vulgar person who no ideas and can’t handle debate. That makes you the perfect liberal.

WHAT WILL DEMOCRATS RUN ON IN 2006? No one here can answer that question – it’s amazing.

  81. dicky says:

    NE,
The bankruptcy is a big fat kiss to the big credit card companies. And yes I know many corperate whores that signed up for it were Dems. Did you know that we tried to give an escape clause so that Iraq vets would be protected from this travesty and you aholes failed to put it in the bill. Love how you hypocrites support the troops. The energy reform gave billions in tax cuts to industries that are all ready rolling in money. The WH house has allready acknowledged it would do NOTHING to alliviate our energy woes. Many of the so called employed are slaving for peanuts at low wage dead end jobs like wallmart. So your 5% unemployment is a sham – give me 5% unemployment with those working having health care and a living wage then maybe you
f**nk repugs actually did something good. As far as I can see, all you did was still two elections, devide the country, screw the middle class, enrich the rich even more, and kill THOUSANDS of innocents in the process. fu*king EVIL bastards is what the GOP has become.
    go to hell ned.

  82. cynical ex-hippie says:

“while our side is plotting our next big defeat”

That plot seems to be right on schedule for ‘06

  83. cynical ex-hippie says:

“Gee, the AP must have gotten on the phone right after the 14 marines were killed.”

I bet you think American support for FDR was at an all-time low after D-Day? Problem is, you Republicans think you can hold on to public support if you can only keep the bad news off the front page, hide the coffins from public view. Guess what, in WWII there were plenty of coffins to see, and the public was behind the president 100%. Why? Because he had one goal throughout the entire 4-year world war. That’s right, the war was over in 4 years. Unlike Bush, who four years later can’t even define victory.

  84. Brian says:

Nice to hear from you again, Susan.
Keep checkin’ under the seat, NED.

  85. Don says:

If the Dems run on a Progressive agenda they can win, but with the current cast of characters it won’t happen. They’re all in the corporate cradle, suckin’ their corporate bottles.

    The Progressive agenda should be:

    – no more lie-based foreign military adventures that kill tens of thousands and cost hundreds of bilions, prodce terrorists by the bucketful and alienate us throughout the world.

    – No further attempts to curtail our civil liberties and Constitutional rights.

    – a rollback of corporate welfare tax reduction programs.

    – restraint on military expenditures, in line with reduced military adventures.

    – health care for all, just like Congress enjoys.

    – cease the war on Marijuana.

    – trade agreements that give equal consideration to workers as well as corporations.

    – cease federally-mandated education testing.

    – cease the free ride to Israel on economic aid without recognizing Palestinian rights.

  86. Rover says:

“I was not on point” said Bush, on vacation before 9/11.
“I was pinchin’ a loaf in the brush and thinkin’ about liftin’ my leg and wizn’ on the American people.

  87. Ryan Neat says:

“I am so happy Democrats are still focusing on the August 6 memo and blaming Bush for letting 9/11 happen. The GOP could never have the power we have without your hatred. Thanks guys – I appreciate it.”

Lets see, BushI trains and funds AlQueda. BushI puts troops in saudia arabia. BushII ignores memos that clearly state airplanes are to be hijacked and used as weapons. Well a rational person would blame bush – but CONservatives like are never rational.

“BTW, how did you feel about President Clinton ignoring terrorism for oh, say 8 YEARS!!!!”

Well, guess you never read Clarke (a REPUBLICAN’s) book. Not only was terrorism the #1 priority of the clinton whitehouse, because of this they caught the millenium bomber. Ironically when the leaving clinton admin told bush to put his highest priorities as terrorism – he ignored them with the same stupid and arrogant attitude of irresponsibility that you have.

“Skid – I will be in AA when I’m good and drunk!!! ”

The first step is admitting you have a problem. Now if we can just get to admit your psychosis – that would be a better step in the right direction.

  88. Ryan Neat says:

“I LOVE THIS POST!!! This moron gets elected President, vacations all the time, let’s America get attacked…..yet – you still CAN’T BEAT HIM. As a matter of fact, Democrats have suffered historic losses under Bush’s failed leadership. What does that tell you about the state of liberalism today?”

That’s just because cheaters like you rigged the election machines. You’re such stupid, desperate little losers that you can’t even convince rednecks to vote for you in high enough numbers to win fairly!

    http://www.argusleaderonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3170&page=2

    http://archive.democrats.com/display.cfm?id=181

But then again, facts never persuade fascist progandists like yourself to believe in democracy. See unlike you, I believe that CONservatives should have a voice even when they’re in the minority – and yet you being a fascist totalitarianist (which means total control) have no such ideas of democracy….

Thanks for reminding everyone that you’re so stupid you don’t even know you’re a fascist!

  89. Ryan Neat says:

“NED: WHAT WILL DEMOCRATS RUN ON IN 2006?”

What do you care Ned? An full glass has no more room – you’d simply ignore anything that wasn’t on the talking points crib sheets you’re fed. You’re too stupid to think for yourself, so there’s no way you’d ever care what anyone else stands for other than in you psychotic desire to lie and twist it.

  90. Ryan Neat says:

Last week, Bush was taking heat for being too fit and now he wants to get out of town. Could you blame him? I wouldn’t want to stay there either with all of the liberal nuts living there. ”

That’s because Bush in 5 years has already taken more vacation more vacation time than any previous president did in 8 years! Duh! But then again when you’re a howdie doodie stooge for RoveTheHutt, who cares if you’re in washington as long as you rubberstamp the NeoCon fascist bills..

  91. Ryan Neat says:

“Liberalism has failed and people are moving on. It’s a dirty word, but I dare you anyway….”

Sure it has! Only in your own head does this tune play. When americans are polled about specific agenda points they care about, democratic values win the majority of americans. The only reason Bush is there, is because like all Fascists – he cheated. Being a cheating bully doesn’t mean the people are behind you as his 38% approval rating in Iraq has shown.

Most americans I’ve polled think you’re an idiot dick NED – so keep on living in your dream world, it’s obviously more comfortable for you than the reality that your political stances are the same as a nazi fascist!

  92. Ryan Neat says:

Well all, this has been fun, but I’m on vacation for the next month, and out of the country for the rest of it.

Have fun, and I’ll check in to see if any of the CONservative mars attack aliens heads have exploded from their own delusional seizures when I get back.

Keep up the good fight everyone – you guys rock! And NED, Little closeted queer FascistButtheadIdiot, and Fish the impotent – get a clue! Wize up! Learn to discern source from propaganda – you guys are all sad!

  93. Phil says:

Most of the neo-CONs are on vacation, what a coincidence, all the private S&M and B&D clubs in D.C. have closed down too.

You first need to prove a lie, before you can accuse someone of lying. I post facts, resources and references that prove the truth – just because you’re delusionally insane doesn’t mean your opinion is factual. But then delusionally insane people like you are always that way…

As for ‘lying liberals’, that’s projection as liberals tend to use sciences, facts and rationality – whereas CONservatives use fear, religion, propaganda and other tools at their disposal to lie. If congress hadn’t been stolen by Diebold, you and your lying cabal would have been impeached from office, and sent to jail.

Take some medication for that delusion – it’s overtaken all sensibility one would hope you might have had at some point in your life. Your DESPERATE desire to cling to your delusion in the face of what must be becoming overwhelming proof of the delusional state seems to be more than your tweeter brain can handle. It explains why you so readily say the opposite of truth on a consistent basis.

And while you’re at it – how was the shock of learning your politics are right wing fascism? The same as hitler? You seem to have no problems with that identification – or have you rejected yet another truth to keep up the facade of lies you live in?

  114. SpudgeBoy says:

The only reason we invaded Iraq was because “we” thought that Iraq would be easy pickins after 10 years of sanctions.

Turns out that when we dropped that first bomb, the Iraq army went under ground and now are called insurgents. I remember that before Operation Desert Storm, the world was told that they had one of the largest armys in the world and yet, we keep having hig ranking officials tell us that the insurgency is dying off.

What a load of crap. WE ARE FIGHTING THE IRAQI ARMY.

It won’t die off anytime soon.

How do we get ourselves and our children out of the mess the Bush administration has got us into? The rest of the world views it as America, when we know that it was less than half of the voters that go them back in.

And I made sure to say less than half the voters. It was let alone the peple that didn’t vote. Do you think the non-voters will care when the Draft is reinstated?

  115. Don says:

And they don’t have Saddam. We need to have our demons personalized.

  116. SpudgeBoy says:

    Saddam. Hah.

What we are dealing with is this:

How much longer would World War II lasted if the Nazis wouldn’t have stopped when Hitler died. What if they put on civilian clothing and blended in with he rest of the german population? What if they started using road side bombs and suicide bombers to keep on killing?

The Iraq is not a war we should have started. There are way to many fundalist (notice I didn’t say extremist) Muslims. I think would should have went after (and kept at it) Osama bin Laden. The problem with that is that the bin Ladens are good Bush friends. Why would Bush go after a family friend?

Not to mention that they can see we have fundamentalist Christians here. The Muslims consider this war as a war on Islam, not a war on terror. That is a huge mistake on our part.

  117. Josh says:

“Some of the violence you see in Iraq is being carried out by ruthless killers who are converging on Iraq to fight the advance of peace and freedom. Our military reports that we have killed or captured hundreds of foreign fighters in Iraq who have come from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Libya and other nations.” Bush June 28, 2005, Fort Bragg, NC. While a lot of the insurgents are of the Iraqi Army, even more are pouring in from other countries to fight against us. The war was not inevitable, it was created by this “war president”.

If you do not recall Bush’s “secret air campaign” against Iraq in late 2002. Where we bombed the hell out of Iraq, months before congressional approval, or request of congressional approval for war. And as stated in the DSM’s the soul purpose of these bombings were to coax Saddam into retaliating against us, thus giving Bush an excuse for war. This failed, so he just had the intelligence and facts “fixed around the policy” conjoining Saddam with 9/11 and al queda, and accussing him of having WMD’s. The two only basis’s for war, there was nothing in his letter to congress about “freeing the Iraqi people”, why? Because it is unlawful to go to war on that premise. And yet now it’s the only real justification they’re giving.

  118. Steed Lankershim says:

Okay Josh, Clinton bombed the hell out of Iraq in 1998 and 99. Killed lots of civilians. Hit some targets, missed some targets. What was his basis? Hmmmmmm?

BTW, you must not be aware of the Liberation of Iraq Act of 1998. Why is it one of the key reasons included in the joint resolution to authorize use of force?

Saddam was a tyrant – no doubt – but the people had commerce, they had utilities, they had schools, they were functioning as a society.

She’s concerned about sick and dying people now, but thinks things were better under Saddam?! Maybe we’ll get to hear her defend mass graves, rape rooms, disappearing family members, assissinations, people arrested or losing appendages for publically denouncing Saddam. Oh, and children sick and dying because Saddam is siphoning off money for his fancy house. I can’t wait…

    Dead couple had marital problems

Soldier informed Army but wasn’t considered a risk

By Hector Gutierrez, Rocky Mountain News
    August 6, 2005

A few days before apparently killing his wife and committing suicide, a soldier just back from Iraq told Army evaluators of his financial and marital problems. But they didn’t consider him a risk to himself or others.

“He was not flagged for any kind of mental health issues,” 1st Lt. Justin Journeay said Friday in reference to Stephen S. Sherwood. “There were no indicators.

“He said, from what I understand, that he was having a couple of financial issues and a marital issue, but it wasn’t considered serious at the time.”

Larimer County sheriff’s investigators said they learned that Sherwood’s wife, Sara, may have been involved with another man.

The 30-year-old woman was shot five times in the head and torso, the sheriff’s office said. Her husband then shot himself in the head.

A Larimer County SWAT team found the bodies in the couple’s Highland Acres home near Fort Collins on Wednesday night.

Sara Sherwood took their 15-month-old daughter to a neighbor’s home about two hours before the shooting so that she and her husband could talk about her relationship with the other man, investigators said.

A neighbor said he spoke with Stephen Sherwood a day before the apparent murder-suicide, and the former paramedic mentioned he was having family problems.

Sherwood had returned from Iraq with members of his 2nd Brigade Combat Team on July 25. He and other soldiers were allowed to go on 48-hour leaves after their arrival in Colorado, said Journeay, 7th Infantry Division and Fort Carson spokesman.

Sherwood then returned to the Army post where he went through “soldier readiness processing,” during which returning combat veterans receive mental and physical screenings.

During the mental evaluation, the staff found that Sherwood, 35, did not display any signs of distress when he disclosed that he had marital problems.

Had the staff detected that Sherwood was under severe duress, they may have required him to stay in the barracks to undergo further evaluation, Journeay said.

Army Community Services, which helps soldiers “reintegrate” with their families, is also available to counsel couples, Journeay said. The Army also provides resources for troops who would prefer to seek help in the civilian community.

However, Journeay said, “you can only offer” the services.

On Monday, Sherwood received the monthlong leave soldiers often get after returning from overseas, Journeay said.

Friends and neighbors said Sherwood had joined the Army so he could provide health care and financial support for his daughter. His wife was pregnant with their baby when Sherwood joined the Army in January 2004.

Sara Sherwood had left her job at the Hunt Club, a topless business in Fort Collins, about two weeks ago, said Aaron Bekkela, the bar owner.

The Sherwoods were planning to move to Colorado Springs, but neighbors said Sara was not pleased about having to relocate to El Paso County.

Bekkela refused to say how long Sara Sherwood worked at his business but said it had been “for a while.”

The bar has helped collect about $2,000 in donations from customers and other employees for the couple’s daughter.

Sara “was a very, very well- liked girl,” Bekkela said.

Perhaps, the DoD ought to change its name back to the “Department of War”, since before, during and even after September 11th, 2001, our illustrious Schizophrenic-in-Chief has shown more interest in waging war on other countries than in defending this one.

The problem with idiots like you is that you don’t realize that because you’re a radical terrorist yourself, to us you look virtually identical to islamic terrorist. The problem isn’t islam, or arabs -it’s radical fundamentalism. The christian taliban is every bit as dangerous, as we’ve seen by the oklahoma and olympic bombings, as well as the numerours assasinations of abortion doctors, torture of prisoners, and bombings of black churches and gay bar. From where I sit, murder in the name of christianity looks no different from murder in the name of islam – I’m against it all!

What it is going to take (sadly) is another 9/11 to make these morons realize that not only are we not safer than before 9/11, but in actuality, we are very much more less safe.

Bush picked a fight with Islam, not Iraq. He is getting close to starting World War III and the people who voted for him, i believe, want that. WHy? because that would bring about the “rapture” and all the good Christians can go to heaven.

I say “Why wait? Go kill yourself and you can be with God now.” Then they would say “Suicide is a sin and will cause you to go to hell.” To that I say “Go to a middle eastern country and proclaim your a Christian.” That will get you killed, which is not a sin.

People are suffering in America, children are without health care, old people are unable to afford their prescriptions, and worst of all, our young people are dying in a war he started under false pretenses because he thought it would be an easy way to gain a foothold in the oil-rich part of the world. If he were as “christian” as he proclaims, he would be too embarrased and sad to vacation, he would be begging our forgiveness for his errors, and he would be praying to his God for mercy.

    Council hopeful doomed by Web
    Supremacist postings revealed

By TIM WHITMIRE, The Associated Press

CHARLOTTE — A city council candidate dropped out of the race Friday after it was disclosed that he posted comments to a white supremacist Internet bulletin board more than 4,000 times.
Doug Hanks said the postings on the site were fictional and designed to win white supremacists’ trust as he researched a novel he was writing.

“I needed information for the book and some other writings I was doing,” Hanks told The Associated Press on Friday. “Obviously, when you go to a site like that as a reporter, nobody’s going to give you the time of day. I did what I thought I needed to do to establish myself as a credible white nationalist.”

Hanks’ 4,000 postings to the Web site over the past three years were first reported Thursday by The Rhinoceros Times, a weekly newspaper.

    Web postings

In a June 1 posting, Hanks wrote: “When Blacks start acting equally, only then will they enjoy the benefits of being treated equally. I treat a rabid dog differently from a healthy one. In fact, this gives me a terrific idea! Let’s treat all the Blacks like the rabid beasts they are. ‘Yeller! Here Boy!’ ”

Michael Dickerson, director of elections for Mecklenburg County, said Hanks formally withdrew from the race Friday morning. Hanks had filed papers seeking the Republican nomination for one of four at-large seats on Charlotte’s council.

Hanks’ novel, called “Patriot Act” and self-published under the name D.A. Hanks, is described on Hanks’ Web site as ” ‘Unintended Consequences’ and ‘Harrison Bergeron’ meets ‘The Turner Diaries’. … The book presents some unique methods of improvising weaponry when our guns are banned, as well as preparing and caching your weapons when that inevitable day arrives.” The Web site also advertises an 80-page guide by Hanks that tells how to build a rifle “that requires no Government paperwork!”

    Seeking an audience

Hanks told the AP that he thinks the Patriot Act has sent the nation sliding “downhill into a totalitarian society” but that he wanted his novel about it to appeal to more than just “the gun crowd.”

“I saw how successful these ‘Turner Diaries’ had been, and that was the path to take,” he said.

“The Turner Diaries,” a racist novel by William Pierce that begins with a truck bombing of FBI headquarters as part of a war against the government, is thought to have inspired Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.

“That [white supremacist readership] was who I was trying to target for better sales of the book,” he said. “They have more of a tendency to word of mouth, to say, ‘Hey, you ought to pick this up.’ ”

Hanks, who describes himself as a contractor, minister and conservation officer, was active in a debate last winter over whether a Confederate battle flag would be allowed to fly over a public cemetery in Charlotte. In January, he scaled a flagpole and reattached the flag. The city later removed both the flag and the pole.

But he said his support for that fight was distinct from racist beliefs.

“I believe wholeheartedly that the Confederate flag was [taken] down for the wrong reasons,” he said Friday. “If there had been a black regimental flag there, I would have done the same thing.”

Republican Mayor Pat McCrory condemned Hanks.

“He’s a man of total inner hatred in both his heart and soul, and it doesn’t matter what party he’s in,” McCrory said.

Irradiating both innocent Iraqi civilians and American forces and creating inescapable diseases among those innocent civilians and American forces for generations to come, as well as destroying the profit source for which the invasion was undertaken, would seem to be rather counter-productive. Or is Da Prez just jealous of the commemorations of the 60th anniversary of the first use of radioactive weapons on innocent civilians and wanted to get his licks in?

Well said, Sherree. Young people like you will change the face of this country from ugly and hateful to hopeful and proud to be an American again. Thank you. You made my day.

By the feel of the web blogs (all of them) he picked the perfect time to vacate! As a matter of fact he’s probably skipped the country along with all his cronies and his family…extended and otherwise.

  157. JARRETT says:

NEXT ELECTION American’s need to remember the lie’s and the sneaky behavior from The Bush Administration and see to it that Laura Bush NEVER has a chance to win the Presidency in 2008, If Laura Bush is elected, I can promise you all of you we will be at war again another four years

  158. Chris says:

Laura Bush? you really think people would vote for that robotic woman?

  159. JARRETT says:

The people that re-elected George W Bush are the one’s we have to worry about , we can only wait for his term to end. In 2008 we need Hilary Clinton to restore the true values to our country in which our country once stood for.
OHH !! robotic ? i was thinking drag queen, but if you look at her , dont she kinda look like Michael Jackson (nothing against MJ)

Offered into the discussion as an attempt at capturing my feelings (and the feelings of so many, many others) at what evil this man and his administration have wrought over the last five years (so far).
Oh, and to NED, I think Homer Simpson said it best:
    SHUT UP, FLANDERS!!!!!!!

I’m looking for a title for this, any suggestions welcomed. I wanted “While my country gently weeps”, but then, it’s not my country (I’m Irish).
Anyway, I’m working on it, so if yez like it let me know and I’ll post more verses.
    Be safe

The Thief of Baghdad hides in Crawford now:
“Victory will be ours in Iraq!” (But how?)
A legacy of hatred from a frighened man:
Greed and the need to topple Saddam.
Sending all the women, sending all the men
To war, but not his daughters — not them!
Fighting for Democracy, Freedom, Right and God —
(Never mind that the intelligence was flawed!)
The neverending war must go on and on and on
Till all your sons and daughters are gone.
Then while Osama relaxes at Bush’s right hand
Their children can go and fight in a foreign land.

(A dreadful calm, a cold silence descends, and the Beast speaks — hear the clinking of dollars in its awful, bloody, oily voice!)

I’ll be gone by ‘08, but it’s alreayd far too late!
Violence begets violence and hate fosters hate.
There’s no way out, there’s no way back:
The future ahead is bloody and black.
By the rocket’s red glare, the terrified stares,
The screams of despair and the wealth I won’t share,
I’m over here and you’re over there.
(That may not seem terribly fair
But you elected me, and you can’t change your mind
Even after all the death-warrants I’ve signed).

of course bush was nonchalant when informed of bin laden’s threats-daddy hasn’t issued bin ladens orders yet,so why should jr worry?they know exactly what bin ladens up to cuz they finance him.osamas been their boy for a long long time-since 1976 at least.he was the point man for the mujahedeen against the soviets and was a go between with ollie north in the exchange of stinger missiles to iran for the hostages.and now he’s public enemy #1-much like noriega was before the first bush experiment with regime change.”Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it”
