The Moral Vacuum

The Moral Vacuum

Members of private contracting firms in Iraq were deeply involved in the abuse which occurred at the Abu Ghraib prison. The involvement of the contractors was exposed in a Pentagon investigation last year which found that “several of the alleged perpetrators of the abuse of detainees” were private contractors.

(For example, remember CACI International? The company, which had no experience in professional interrogations, supplied the U.S. military with interrogators like Steven Stefanowicz, the CACI employee considered by Major General Antonio Taguba to be “directly or indirectly responsible” for encouraging the horrific abuse and torture at Abu Ghraib.)

Not only did Stafanowicz escape any criminal prosecution, according to the Financial Times, not one single private contractor has faced criminal charges or prosecution. Not one. A new Pentagon report found that even though cases were referred to the Department of Justice, “to date, no charges have been filed.”

Welcome to the moral vacuum. Leave your accountability at the door.

Liberals only care about morals when it comes to trashign the war or saving vicious murderers on death row. IT’s disgusting. You people are so self-righteous!!!

Partial birth abortion – GOOD. Abu Ghraib – EVIL

    Makes alot sense.

  2. Lyle says:

Again, NED. It is illogical to compare sadists with rational people. I’m pro death penalty, anti-rape of children, for example.
You’re either/or rationale shows your age.

  3. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Alex – your invective is welcomed. Who’s in power asshole? Not liberals – why? Because you are blinded by hatred and too busy sympathizing with terrorists to fight the War on Terror. Maybe you’ll learn when you lose more seats next year.

  4. Brian says:

Good to see ya comin’ ’round, Lyle.

  5. Skid says:

Why take the moral high ground, right DilEnema?

  6. Alex says:

the only people who are blinded are the stay-the-course-bring-em-on-last-throws chickenhawks like you who are running the United States into the ground. And the American public is waking up to this. Why don’t you?

  7. Gary Kleppe says:

    Who’s in power asshole?

    Jeff Gannon?

    Not liberals – why?

Diebold, ES&S, and widespread voter suppression.

  8. Citizen80203 says:

NED, can’t your parents keep you warm and quiet?

  9. Krazny says:

    Ned,

you spew the most hatred, how are we blinded by hate?

Your the one who starts with the name calling and inane rants.

  10. Alex says:

oh, i forgot, might makes right. i take it all back.

  11. No Dilemma Here says:

NED, what has “liberal” or “conservative” got to do with torture? Maybe for you if it is a christain being tortured then you would want to kill the bastards yourself. OH I forgot, Bush thinks torture is OK & Bush has faith = torture is OK. Self Righteousness has nothing to do with putting electrodes on another man’s genitals.

  12. Fred says:

    NED,
Sittin’ back, watchin’ you neo-CONs drive it, like you stole it.

  13. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Kranzy – you people have implied that the President lied to go to war (even though everyone agreed Sadaam had weapons including Clinton), you’ve cried endlessly over prisoner abuse (yet you supported Kerry last year – a man who admitted to behaing like Genghis Khan), every election you’ve lost – you claim you really didn’t lose, it was stolen. Just exactly who hates? I hate the discourse you people have stooped to because you can’t win elections. That’s what this all comes down. You can’t win and your angry as hell over it. Well, get over it and come up with a positive vision.

  14. kindness says:

I wish there was a troll rating on this site.

  15. Marie says:

I think NED is certifiable. His rants are incoherent, irrelevant, and totally misrepresentative of facts.

  16. Citizen80203 says:

The problem NED boy is the Dear Leader steps in shit over and over again then has idiots like you lick them clean. Does it taste like candy?

  17. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Marie – name one lie in what I said.

  18. Darwin says:

    All

We Christians are conservative because we want to keep up the traditions of our people and our religiion. Along with many others, torture and killing are long standing traditions of Christianity. The Crusades, the Inquisition, the Salem witch trials are some of the milestones.

Whether you like it or not, this is a Christian nation. May the Lord give us the courage of our convictions, and let us get back to the roots of your faith where Senator Santorum is leading us

I will pray for all you liberals to see the light

  19. Krazny says:

we don’t need to implie NED the evidence is pretty clear. Many democrats have come up with a clear vision, I am sorry you can’t see it.

If were angry about something it is seeing our country hijacked by bush an co.

what clear thing has bush done? aside from go against everything you convservatives supposedly hold dear?

individual and states rights? down the drain.
    Fiscal responsibility? gone.
Moral and ethical responsibilty? not with Delay, and Rove around.

  20. MisterB says:

#19 Oh the Irony. Stop it! I can’t breath. ROFL

  21. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Kranzy – your positive vision seems pretty negative. Keep it up and the GOP will get their filibuster proof majority. You cannot win on hatred alone.

But I thank you much. Spineless Bill Frist and corrupt Tom DeLay could not remain in power without the left wing invective you peddle on a daily basis. You’re a conservatives best friend.

  22. MisterB says:

    Oh, and by the way…
Replace the word Contractor with Mercenary. mk? thx.

  23. Sara says:

    Darwin, you rock.
So obvious that Ned is a paid troll trying to derail discourse. Ned, you still haven’t answered my question, many other threads back – If Bush is guilty, will you change your mind?
Does anyone but me think this guy is actually a computer program that responds or posts automatically?
Do let’s get a troll rating going – on a scale of 1 (nice people) to 10 (troll jerks) I would say Ned is about a 17…

  24. Christopher says:

It’s a long way back from Abu Ghraib in the minds of Islamic and Muslim nations.

While many conservatives cheered this abuse of power (Limbaugh: “nothing more than a frat party”), I have to wonder if people in Iraq understand the outrage felt among the decent (READ: liberal) American people over the these abuses?

I can just see Rumsfeld gaffawing over the photos and even pleasuring himself at the sight of those nekkid Iraqi male butts.

The neocons are the sickest to ever walk the earth.

    . . .

  25. MisterB says:

Ned gives us something to sharpen our rhetorical teeth on. He’s like a Republican punching bag.

  26. Krazny says:

Not really following your train of logic ned care to go into more detail?

really it sounds mindless to me.

  27. Gary Kleppe says:

Marie – name one lie in what I said.

    Okay, I’ll bite.

“Liberals only care about morals when it comes to trashign the war or saving vicious murderers on death row.” Lie.

“everyone agreed Sadaam had weapons” Lie. The arms inspectors and the CIA did not agree to this, just to name two. I’ll also note that those of us who said there were no WMD were proved right.

“Kerry… a man who admitted to behaing like Genghis Khan” Lie, or at least a gross exaggeration.

“every election you’ve lost – you claim you really didn’t lose, it was stolen.” Lie. Nobody’s claimed that Reagan stole office, or George I.

  28. Citizen80203 says:

1: Kranzy – you people have implied that the President lied to go to war (even though everyone agreed Sadaam had weapons including Clinton) Well, the intel was fixed on the weapons NED. Who is everyone? Clinton never said Iraq had WMD. Lie 1
2: you’ve cried endlessly over prisoner abuse (yet you supported Kerry last year – a man who admitted to behaing like Genghis Khan) Actually, you are the crying shrill, however, Kerry never said or endorsed torture. Lie 2
3: every election you’ve lost – you claim you really didn’t lose, it was stolen. Just exactly who hates? Actually, no one said every election was stolen, just adjusted. Lie 3
4: That you are a patriotic American. We all know you are a chickenhawk who has never served. Hell, that’s whay Vets like me mock you on post like this. Lie 4
Go buy your books for school like a good boy and leave these post for the adults.

  29. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Kranzy – You know exactly what I am saying. You fools are your own demise.

  30. Gary Kleppe says:

Does anyone but me think [Neddy] is actually a computer program that responds or posts automatically?

Naaaaah. A computer program wouldn’t make so many typos.

  31. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#29 – Kerry admitted war crimes at the 1971 hearing before the senate. Join reality and then you might have a chance at taking on the conservative majority. lol!! LOSERS – you people are SUCH SORE LOSERS!!

  32. Krazny says:

Delay is still around because the ethics committe is all buddies of his, but if you like to think I have that much power thanks Ned.

But please elaborate I am very interested what do you mean?

  33. Brian says:

You’re just not very smart, NED.

  34. Krazny says:

I think John Kerry admitted to seeing war crimes, not being involved in war crimes. I would have to check. NeD do you have a link that does go to some right wing rag to back up your assertion?

  35. Krazny says:

meant to say does not go to some right wing rag sorry.

  36. Citizen80203 says:

No Idiot girlboy, Kerry testified that he knew of atrocities being committed. Which brings us back to your pussie ass eh?

  37. No Dilemma Here says:

NED likes the neocons because of thier double standard – one for the neocons and one for everyone else

  38. kindness says:

OK, this is dumb & we’re playing to it.

There are 37 comments on this thread so far, 7 of them are from ned himself and 16 are comments from us back to him or referring about him.

Am I alone in thinking ned doesn’t amount to a hill of beans in this world? If so, why are we spending so much time spinning wheels to the idiot?

  39. Krazny says:

    to get back on topic:

if your a friend of bush then your okay in his book.

  40. Citizen80203 says:

Your right Kindness, but golly it sure is fun somtimes.

  41. Gary Kleppe says:

Am I alone in thinking ned doesn’t amount to a hill of beans in this world? If so, why are we spending so much time spinning wheels to the idiot?

“It is said… that civilised man seeks out good and intelligent company, so that, through learned discourse, he may rise above the savage and closer to God…. Personally, however, I like to start the day with a total dickhead to remind me I’m best.” — E. Blackadder

  42. obvious says:

“Kerry admitted war crimes at the 1971 hearing before the senate. Join reality and then you might have a chance at taking on the conservative majority. lol!! LOSERS – you people are SUCH SORE LOSERS”

Did you even read the transcripts – or did you lift that off your fellow liars at swiftboats for republican traitors anonymous?

First of all Kerry did no such thing, although liars like you continue to make those slanderous claims. What Kerry did was recant confessions made by other soldiers at a meeting of veterans – and he told as a WITNESS what he’d heard them admit to. He did not claim to commit (nor was he accused of committing) war crimes. He however said that some other soldiers that were at the event saw war crimes themselves.

NortheastDelusional, why do you hate america so much that you would lie on a daily basis? Why do feel the need to fabricate (or pass on fabrications) about every topic you post? Are you a professional propagandist – or are you just an uneducated person who doesn’t know any better?

Have you ever read the transcripts? The actual transcripts are available at:

    http://ice.he.net/~freepnet/kerry/index.php?topic=Testimony

Maybe you should actually read about the topics you lie about for a change – it would do you some good…
In particular this paragraph where he recants what others said (and other witnesses at the winter soldier event also verified hearing).

“They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.”

Partial birth abortion – GOOD. Abu Ghraib – EVIL

    Makes alot sense. “

    ***
Response – Typical hot head hyperbole. Hyperbole – go look it up dummy.
You deliver broad-brush, inflammatory statements, and we must question your motives.

    ***
The Northeast Dilemma farted – “Alex – your invective is welcomed. Who’s in power asshole? Not liberals – why? Because you are blinded by hatred and too busy sympathizing with terrorists to fight the War on Terror. Maybe you’ll learn when you lose more seats next year.â€?

    ***
Response – Again, hyperbole and conjecture, based on your “blinded by hatredâ€? viewpoint. We the People are the power, Sir. The People mandate political power. I assure you, The People are pissed and the only seats the War Party will be taking are the ones they have stolen.

    ***
The Northeast Dilemma regurgitated – “Kranzy – you people have implied that the President lied to go to war (even though everyone agreed Sadaam had weapons including Clinton), you’ve cried endlessly over prisoner abuse (yet you supported Kerry last year – a man who admitted to behaing like Genghis Khan), every election you’ve lost – you claim you really didn’t lose, it was stolen. ***
Response – There is no implication here, we are explicitly declaring that he did lie. Whether members of the Civilian leadership believed that lie is irrelevant. Their was ample evidence from weapons inspectors and in the Intelligence agencies that conclude there was no threat. (Read something other than Republican talking points)
Torture is bad. I don’t know how to put that any plainer. It’s bad when they do it, and it’s bad when we do it. Please grow a conscience, Sir.
Kerry is as much a tool as bush in my opinion. Democrat, Republican, Liberal, Conservative are all false paradigms. Liberty and justice are the proper viewpoint, not tyranny, theft and murder. How does smashing Iraq give us more freedom? Why are we so interested in bringing liberty to Iraq while we remove liberty at home? That, Sir, is what makes me angry, not your side or my side won, but we the People lost!

This is an exercise in futility. I know. But, I had to try.

  45. Brian says:

Kerry would have been out of Iraq by now, regardless of what he said during the campaign. Which goes back to the other thread about American disappointment with America. It’s a game.

  46. MisterG says:

Well said MisterB. I’m not American. I’m human living in 2005. Bush and company are putting the world on a path of ruin. Torture is torture. Lies are lies. Facts are facts. Neocons turn a blind eye to torture caused by thier own. Neocons lie to advance thier agenda. Neocons are not interested in facts.

    Sad, very, very sad.

  47. cynical ex-hippie says:

I’m still not clear what “lesson” NED thinks we should have learned. NED?

  48. Brian says:

And now? Rumsfeld is saying Iran is smuggling weapons into Iraq. And I don’t believe him. Too many liars. Too many criminals.

  49. obvious says:

“yet you supported Kerry last year – a man who admitted to behaing like Genghis Khan)”

    NorthEastDelusional,

Kerry never admitted to, nor was he ever accused of behaving in this fashion by anyone but the swiftboat campaign terrorists. He did however act merely as a second hand commentator on what others say they’d witnessed. To accuse him of actually participating in this, is like accusing Limbaugh of being a 9/11 terrorist because he recanted what he’d heard about the event.

  50. Sara says:

Okay, you’re right, he’s too dumb to be a program.
Can we all just STOP responding to Ned? Worst that can happen is he’ll change his handle…
I wonder how he would feel in a couple of years, when he has been drafted, captured by the enemy, and tortured? Notice I am only fantasizing… not directing my question to him…
And NeD, you still haven’t answered my question…

  51. Dumb Fox says:

Let’s get this straight – Gonzales tells Bush the Geneva Conventions are “quaint”. Cue the abuse and torture in Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, Baghram etc. Pentagon investigates abuse. Refers cases to DoJ.

Who’s call is it re. criminal charges? Where does the buck stop on these decisions? Gonzales.

The Neocons and their mascot in the White House must be laughing their asses off. Accountability? Never.

  52. margaret says:

We will never win this war. The Muslims do not want us on there land. We went over there in Middle East and planted bases. When we did that it pissed them off. They want us out it will never stop until we are out. The terrorism will go on for centuries. We will never kill all the extremists. I wish there was an answer but neither Rummy nor I has one. So what do we do kill each other for what may I ask you?

  53. Brian says:

Bush has already publicly stated that we won’t win the war, Margaret. This is bad policy rooted in lies and greed and death.

  54. margaret says:

I am just searching for answers. The people behind this war must do some research on the Muslims and there religion. The people who stand behind this war must do some research on the Muslims extremist. Then give me answer to how we can possible win this war. I have researched and I find no answer. I know from what I read and they will produce generation after generation to blow themselves up to kill us. They will never stop until we are no longer on their soil. What end in sight do people see because I do not what this for my children and their children.

  55. Brian says:

It’s my opinion that when it comes down to it this is just two Abraham religions butting heads. Despite what administration says, I don’t think they care about Islam or historically Islamic land or tradition.

You can beat yourself up all day trying to discern the rationale for this war, but there is none. This administration is fine getting in the faces of radicals in their lands while simulaneously turning our country into a police state.

  56. margaret says:

Why is it that you and I Brian understand this? The people of the United States need to understand this.
We invaded there country and I always seem to get the answer they invaded ours. But people seem to forget we invaded first by going into Saudi Arabia and planting our military bases.

  57. Brian says:

Most people on this website and in the country understand the dynamic. The difference is we’re not afraid of terror. At least I’m not. Scared people elected our current Gov’t., regardless of their feelings about morality of war or occupation. They’re overcompensating.
    They’ve been touched by terror.
I was pro war, then I discovered I was lied to. And I am one of many who are very angry. Welcome to the club, Margaret.

  58. MisterB says:

    Brian wrote -

I remember when all the hype was going on about Iraq and mushroom clouds, it scared the hell out of me.
I bought it too. I said at the time, that if they were lying, there would be hell to pay.

  59. margaret says:

See I guess I was a little smarter. Not a college grad but I new something was fishy. Why would we go in to Afghanistan to destroy the Taliban, which truly were the cause of 911 and then turn around and go into Iraq? It just did not make sense to me. Not only that if Sadam Hussein had WMD he would have used them in the first gulf war. Its over now we just have to figure out how to get our guys home. Not only that we have just made a complete mess out of Iraq. We need to admit that we made a mistake a figure out how to fix it.

  60. Marie says:

I have been thinking similarly — is NED a plant to keep us off track and derail any sensible discourse. He is so very extreme that I won’t even answer him any more — he makes no sense — he just rants.

  61. Brian says:

    NED is harmless.

  62. dicky says:

    NED is not harmless Brian.
This moron represents thousands more like him that support and defend the indefensible. I have seen him and a few other trolls get these blogs so out of context you forget what it was about originally. Because these brown shirts are so shrill, it makes it almost irristable to respond to their inane sh*t.
How they behave on blog is a mircocosm of how they behave in the “real” world. If course to these cultist “real” is relative. I could see NED wearing a “Liberals must Die” t-shirt – and then say “whay are you all so hateful”.
    what an a-hole.

  63. dicky says:

The double dealing and duplicitous nature of the way Bush’s War is being run make the case of limiting corperations power over our government. If you have not allready I highly recommend the DVD “The Corperation” it is available at blockbuster – at least in my area.
    it is chilling.

  64. Stephan says:

#17 All of them are unfounded and misrepresentative.

    Who’s sympathizing with terrorists?

Abu Gharib was full of first-offenders and innocent Iraqis. To not condone such actions, you portray yourself as monsterous. There is no difference in you and terrorists — You will not receive my sympathy.

“Partial birth abortion” (a term coined by the likes of you) should remain legal– whose choice is it to make to take the mother’s life or the unborn child’s if both are in jeopardy?

Indirectly it is the Neo-Conservative Christian Right (to place “Christian” within that title sickens me) who has assisted terrorism through arrogance, ignorance, and ethnocentricy; all in while the inconsistency of the implmentation of their “morality” is undermining any claim they may provide to support their holier-than-thou values and social status.

Morality– You are what you fight. It is from weakness that must adopt principles that were altogether foreign to you rather than being a good human being by nature.

God does not speak to any of them. God is not built from conviction. God is of art and truth– emancipation in seed. Those with vision and spiritual leadership have not yet spoken. They will in time, that is, if they are still capable of existing in America. The softness of their words will rattle politics, religion, media to its knees. Their patience comes from the acceptance of all things– monsterous and beautiful, both which are horrific.

You are an idiot. Your gullibility to believe in whatever may support your convictions and adopted-ideals is brain deadening. Breathe, Think– stop functioning like a primate.

To think, that you could approach God, morality, life with the strength and openness that is required when you cannot even approach politics with an unbias eye.

Every zealot is a liar, and his conviction a lie.

A fine way to wake up from a nap. I should learn my lesson by now.

  65. obvious says:

    “NED is harmless.
    Comment by Brian ”

Anyone who undermines the sincerity and integrity of the nation by condoning torture, election fraud, smearing war heros with lies, and taking away peoples civil liberties and scientific education based on religious bigotry and dogma isn’t harmless, they’re pathological…

  66. Brian says:

There’s a big difference between NED and this gov’t.
The gov’t does not believe what NED would have you believe. They use him. He is a low rent cog.

Centrists put this gov’t. in power, and they don’t peruse progressive websites. I have faith in the centrists.

  67. MisterB says:

    Tim, John, Mike, Sherry, TJ
Ned you are a plant! And as plants go you would not survive here in Iraq! The sun would wilt your bravado! The sand would shear off your talking points to the nub! The landscape would envelop your facade and hold nature’s mirror up to your ashen face revealing, even to you, nothing! The military would not see you as anything other than a lifeless plant that holds no sustenance for our thirst! The Iraqis would pay you no mind, except to see you as a mere reflection of the west, and its thirst for hegemony! Eventually the “plant”, (you), would wither and die only to be returned to the earth’s rabid feeding mechanism! Ned… We on the ground in Iraq pity you… If you are old enough to serve please do not. You would not last a day over here. We are fighting the peoples of Iraq without justification. You… You are fighting your own demons so you may feel good about spouting dishonorable rationalizations for an amoral war that you yourself are to weak to wage! Do not pretend that your “truth” is tolerated here! We read the blogs daily and find your rhetoric neither comforting nor patriotic! Start fighting for freedom instead of rambling on and sparring with the very people you should be supporting! Namely patriots who gave and will give their life in the capacity of soldier, marine, airmen and women, guard, statesmen and stateswomen, dissenters, and the pour souls in Iraq (patriots all) that are resisting an occupation that is overwhelming and vicious!
Tim, Matt, Kenneth, Sherry, TJ, Mark, Tina

Mona Charen is a useful idiot, and a Media whore. I direct you to Mona Charen watch, a site still up but that has not been updated for some time.

    http://charen-watch.com/

Mona Caren would probably like to remind us all that Winston Churchill was a communist hating conservative. Winston Churchill is a good example of how wrong Mona is. Churchill was not fond Soviet style communism and mistrusted Stalin in particular. But once he was asked if he was concerned about English communists. He replied, “Of course not. Why should I be? They are Englishmen, after all.” So he only hated Soviet style Stalinism, he didn’t hate Russians or even communists in general. As to Winston’s being a conservative, Charen is the useless idiot again.

These quotes make for good story-telling but popular myth has falsely attributed them to Churchill.

“Conservative by the time you’re 35″

“If you’re not a liberal when you’re 25, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative by the time you’re 35, you have no brain.” There is no record of anyone hearing Churchill say this. Paul Addison of Edinburgh University makes this comment: “Surely Churchill can’t have used the words attributed to him. He’d been a Conservative at 15 and a Liberal at 35! And would he have talked so disrespectfully of Clemmie, who is generally thought to have been a lifelong Liberal?”

The connies are every bit as dishonest and dangerous as they said the commies were.

Sorry, forgot the link to that “phony conservative” quote debunking.

And as a special treat Jame Wolcott and the modern day useful idiots. NRO:

    JPod versus Peter Rabbit
    Posted by James Wolcott
I fear an ill wind is blowing through NRO’s The Corner, and I don’t mean John Derbyshire’s gassy indigestion, since he isn’t one of the parties involved.

Over the weekend, the gang that couldn’t post straight was holding a high-level Thomist debate over whether or not life begins at the moment of erection. It was between John Podhoretz–JPod–and an assorted crew of doctrinal enforcers and intellectual hairsplitters familiar with every nuance of the importance of zygotes. Then, after everyone had exhausted the subject and themselves, needing to pause for an oxygen refuel, in comes Peter Robinson, hopping down the bunny trail. And…

Well, scroll through the following exchange from the Corner (going from the most recent post to the one that started the spat) and enjoy.

“HEY, SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT, PETER, JEEZ [JPod]
Who’s stopping you? Just don’t expect me to argue with you about it.

“AW, GO TAKE A NAP [Peter Robinson]
If you’re exhausted, John, get some sleep. Go for a walk in the park. Or go to Starbuck’s, without your laptop for once, and knock back a frappucino. But don’t tell a fellow blogger what he may or may not say, or when he may or may not say it.

    K-Lo alone possesses such powers.

“STAYING TOO LONG AT THE PARTY [JPod]
Peter, this discussion began on SATURDAY. It is now TUESDAY. You want to mix it up with me after I’ve gone 15 rounds with Ramesh Ponnuru and Robert George? Come on. Do me a solid. I’m exhausted.
    Posted at 07:43 PM

    “PARTY BOY [Peter Robinson]
Ah, John, but surely it is one of the glories of this happy Corner that it amounts to a party without end. (But even if it were a lot more like a party in, say, a Manhattan apartment, I wouldn’t let you announce when it had or hadn’t ended.)
    Posted at 07:33 PM

“RE: ‘PETER, IF YOU COME IN ON A CONVERSATION AT THE DOOR WHEN THE PARTY’S BREAKING UP AND EVERYBODY HAS THEIR COATS ON, YOU CAN’T EXPECT TO KEEP PEOPLE AROUND WHEN THEY’VE GOT TO GET HOME JUST SO YOU CAN MAKE YOUR POINTS’ [K-Lo]
Well, if he brings more alcohol, maybe people will say. Assuming it’s not the raspberry malt stuff. And the babysitter is not being paid by the hour.

    “LAST WORD? [John Podhoretz]
Peter, if you come in on a conversation at the door when the party’s breaking up and everybody has their coats on, you can’t expect to keep people around when they’ve got to get home just so you can make your points.
    Posted at 06:12 PM

    “SO SORRY, JOHN… [Peter Robinson]
…but you’re not allowed to open and close debate simply because it suits you to have the last word.

“But if we’re on science fiction, I finally got around to seeing War of the Worlds the other day and found it appalling–a thrill ride in a second-rate amusement park, not a story. How can Steven Spielberg give us such a fine piece of work as Catch Me if You Can and such a complete and utter stinker as War of the Worlds?

“Ta-ta for now. Am about to go back on the air with Carol Platt Liebau, guest-hosting Hugh Hewitt’s radio show.
    Posted at 06:03 PM

“RE: PETER, KEEP UP [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
    And fundraising.

    “PETER, KEEP UP [JPod]
We’re already back onto “Star Trek” and David Hasselhoff.

    “JOHN POD’S SEEDLINGS [Peter Robinson]
Yesterday evening, John posted as follows:
More objections to my saying that a fetus-embryo may not be ‘fully human.’ People saying, ‘What is it? Part vegetable?’ Come on, now. It is a seedling of a human being.

“‘A seedling of a human being?’ John, you astonish me. You gave your own game away.

“Even as a ’seedling’ of an oak is thoroughly and completely an oak—no such seedling will never ever go on to produce a pine, a maple, or a chestnut, but only an oak—so the ’seedling’ of a human being is thoroughly and completely a human being. Seed, seedling, sapling, tree: These are merely the names we use to denote a single organism at different phases of its development. Likewise embryo, fetus, baby, child, adolescent, and adult. Different phases or stages, but always human.

“A matter of faith? No. A matter of straightforward observation. Come on, now.
    Posted at 01:59 PM”

…I have to say for once my sympathies are with JPod. When you’re ready to leave a party, the last thing you want is some intense bore buttonholing you at the door and preventing your escape to the firehouse pole.

NED, slowly but surely it’s getting boring – the only argument you give on any thread is the “you lost, we wonâ€?-bs.
Is that all you can come up with? It’s getting old.
At least stick to the truth and say “You lost, we cheated *g*

    Comment by Sylvia Zimmer — August 10, 2005 @ 6:39 am

you know what really cracks me up – people like NED, FBA& Co. telling us to join reality.
The reality of which paralell universe are you talking about, NED? ‘Cause it sure isn’t thé one the rest of the world is living in.

    Comment by Sylvia Zimmer — August 10, 2005 @ 6:50 am

You know what really cracks me up, Ms. Zimmer?

If you go to their respective blogs, the number of comments to the postings their occasionally hit the low single digits. Usually they are just goose-eggs. Goose eggs for the goose steppers.

  79. Francis says:

As has been said before here. Ned and others are looking for a back and forth debate with one of the more intelligent posters here, all the while never saying anything of substance, in order to distance and distract from the original thread. If you read this over and over again, you watch as good points are left by the wayside and the mission is accomplished in part.

  80. MisterB says:

Agreed, Francis. This is yet another disinfo tactic to divert and distract. They troll Liberal blogs, take a dump and then move on to the next.

  81. Marblex says:

The best way to handle detractors is to IGNORE THEM. Eventually, they go away. One of the reasons they come to our blogs is that their own blogs do not allow commentary (Gee I wonder why)

Am I old fashioned? I think private contractors used to be called mercenaries by our goverment.
