For a week, reporters have been asking what the President is going to be doing today in Donnelly, Idaho. The White House press operation has stonewalled –
Q What’s in Donnelly? What’s he doing in Donnelly?
MS. PERINO: I’ll see if I can get some more on that. I don’t know.
Q Dana, can you yet not say what the President is doing on Tuesday in Donnelly?
MS. PERINO: I just don’t have an update. There’s just no public events.
Tamarack Resort received official confirmation today that President George W. Bush will be at the Idaho mountain resort Aug. 22-24… Tamarack Resort, the first all-season resort to be permitted in the U.S. in 22 years, has received national attention for having not one, but three spectacular crown jewels: a world-class ski mountain, a Robert Trent Jones II signature golf course and beautiful Lake Cascade, suitable for swimming, sailing, fishing, sea kayaking, and boating.
Who doesn’t need a little vacation…from their month-long vacation?
I can think of a resort that bloodthirsty war criminal needs to go to.
August 23rd, 2005 at 9:50 am36%!
August 23rd, 2005 at 9:50 amIf I had an employee who took this much time off I would fire his ass.
August 23rd, 2005 at 9:52 amTwo dumb questions:
Is “Robert Trent Jones II” the same as Bob Jones, as in university?
How does one sign a golf course, anyway?
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:01 amhttp://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=17915
Now you’ve DONE IT!!! Apparently, Cindy Sheehan is less of a grieving mother and more of a terrorist sympathizer. Her association with Lynne Stewart will prove fatal for her and HER SUPPORTERS.
I begged you people not to go there with this lunatic. You didn’t listen and now we destroy her, her cause and her supporters. You can cry Swiftboat all you want – if swiftboating is revealing the truth, then so be it.
You people are your own worst enemies! lol!!!
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:02 amNortheast Dilemma,
I’m not sure if you’ve gotten out of the bubble much of late but I have some bad news for you. The country has truned against the war and decisively against Bush. They vast majority now knows that we were lied about the reasons for invading Iraq and the horse is not only out of the barn on this but he’s crossed the county line.
The TV and radio wingnuts are losing their collective minds over this, you can watch a different wingnut propagandist throw up on his own shoes each and every day. Cindy Sheehan gave the silent citizenry a voice and she was the catalyst, but she could go back to Vaccaville and lay on her hammock now and it wouldn’t change a thing.
Game over.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:08 am(My questions may have been dumb — intentionally so, I admit — but at least they were dumb questions relating to the post being commented on.)
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:13 amHow do you sea kayak on a lake?
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:19 amPlus the bonus is that he won’t have that pesky Cindy Sheehan in his front yard trying to prevent him from “going on with his life.”
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:22 amThere is no where DUHbya can hide. Cindy Sheehan is not the only person he needs to worry about now that everyone knows that he is a LIAR.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:27 amYou sure are obtuse, NeD. You spew about how vicious we are here and filled with hate, yet, you talk of destroying people and causes (this is exactly why I despise repubs). Me thinks you dost protest too much, though. This is not about Cindy Sheehan anymore, this is a runaway train that you cannot derail. I see you lol-ing, but again, I know how you really feel. Your posts have much to say between the lines, so to speak. You’re obviously not really laughing, none of your kind are anymore. I don’t believe your posturing and I don’t think even you do anymore. You see what’s happening, don’t you?
Cindy Sheehan could get arrested for selling coke to kids and it wouldn’t make one bit of difference. She is merely the catalist for all of us who are sick and tired of this stupid arrogant administration to finally stand up. All we needed was one voice, one little voice, to start the ball rolling. You and the very few of you left that still spout crap like WMD are going the way of bell bottoms. I know, you will be back, but just as before, you will go away again. It is a cycle; I understand this.
So, post all you want, we will sometimes call you out and sometimes we will just ignore you. You are a fun troll, but your need for attention is starting to give us a snore. It is kind of fun to see what NeD will say every once and a while, I’ll have to admit. Although I sense such desparation lately that it isn’t really fun anymore; like a cat with an almost-dead mouse.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:27 amAll this biking in Crawford… it’s hard work… He deserves a break from that.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:28 amJay, good thinking.:-)
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:32 amAs a former Marine, I already know the honor that are soldiers have, I don’t need a war dodger like George Bush to tell me. Bush proved long ago that he cares nothing for our soldiers, if he did he wouldn’t have involved them in a pointless personal war between himself and Saddam Hussien.
The US Military is not some tool for a cowardly President to use for his own personal grievences.
Bush has failed our soldiers with idiotic planning, no exit strategy, and by not properly equipping them.
REAL soldiers like John Kerry need to rally Democrates and unify thier message on getting our soldiers out of Iraq, or coming up with a plan to win in Iraq.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:34 amJohn Kerry is NOT a real soldier. He was in nam for all of four months, just in time for him to come back to America to smear his fellow troops.
Keep drinking the kool aid people. You are in for another shocker.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:37 amNeD, you are so hate filled.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:39 amAll you can do is hate Kerry. That’s not going to get us out of this war. You must really hate America. You hate everyone that doesn’t agree with you. Sound familiar?
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:41 amHey NED,
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:44 amWhere, when and for how long did you serve?
Any medals?
Just wondered.
P & P – I’ll get in the mud with you people as long as you continue to propogate the LIE that Bush lied. You people deserve to be destroyed in another election.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:46 amNot that Kerry’s record has anything to
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:46 amdo with anything.
Bush’s record, not in TANG, but as a lifelong
incompetent DOES have some bearing however.
Northeast, John Kerry was in Nam for a very long time doing more than just boating on the Delta. How do i know this ’cause it was the same time as my ex husband was in Nam for his second tour also.
bush was to busy partying he did go AWOL and he isn’t a War President but a Hat w No Cattle who prods others to do his killing for him. It was about taking control of Oil and Natural Gas Rights from the Real Owners in the Middle East and he is looking at South America now trying in his gready way to overthrow another country for Controlof their oil.Hey I got a place he can control an 80×80 room ,all the damn neo Cons needs to be impeached for War Crimes, profiteering ,Treason against the United States Of America.Nuff Said!
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:47 amWhere did you say you served NED?
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:47 amBush lied and no matter how many times you say it ain’t so, it is. Bush lied and is lying about lying. You can’t possibly like this guy. Your denial is pathological.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:55 amAfterthought – am I not allowed to have an opinion on the war if I didn’t serve? OK – you win. Only the military, which overwhelmingly favors Bush and Republicans are granted the right to have an opinion on the war.
Anyway you look at it, you LOSE.
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:55 amP & P – STOP!!! You have no proof that he lied unless you’re saying Clinton, Kerry and Al Gore lied. Are you saying that?
August 23rd, 2005 at 10:55 amClinton lied about the b-job, sure. I really don’t care who is zooming who, that is for repubs to worry about. Bush lied. Everyone knows this and so do you. You are a dying breed.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:00 amNortheast, please provide a location where some of us can meet up with you in person and look into your eyes and see how brave you are when you are not in front of your keyboard.
Pieces of shit like you need to be deprogrammed. Asshole is too good of a word for you.
Waiting for your address…
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:02 amNED, if only you guys could win a war with the same efficiency that you destroy people personally.
As far as WMD goes, Bush lied, Clinton and Gore did not. Bush directed the intelligence towards pre-conceived conclusions. Of course, NED, you misquote everything Democrats say, so of course it would seem to you that Clinton and Gore lied also.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:04 amP & P – so you didn’t care about Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill? Or you are just a partisan. Don’t say it was consentual either. The allegations against Clinton from several women were not consentual ones.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:05 am#28 – you’re the one misdirecting.
You people are such losers and liars. If Bush is such a liar, why hasn’t a single leading Democrat come out and just say that?
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:07 amAh, you fell for it NED.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:08 amSure you can have an opinion about the
war, nobody said you couldn’t.
I was just interested if you had any
first person experinece prior to
criticizing a decorated veteran.
Just sort of shows what kind of a person
you and your ilk are, I guess.
#31 – John Kerry and his supporters used his military experience to attack the President. It didn’t matter that John Kerry pre-emptively attacked Bush’s father in 1992 and said it would be unpatriotic and divisive to attack Clinton for not having served in the military. SO I guess it “just sort of shows what kind of a person you and your ilk are, I guess.”
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:12 amCindy Sheehan is a terrorist mom! Kerry was not a soldier! If Bush lied, Clinton did too! [uh, oh, I'm getting unhinged now...] Anita Hill! Clinton and several women! I’m not a chickenhawk! [oh, no I'm losing my mind] bwaaaak buk buk buk…!
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:13 amBUSH = LIAR. Enough said.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:14 amI’m sorry NED, but #32 is incoherent.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:17 amYou want to try again?
It seems to be one of your famous subject changes,
but it reads mostly like gibberish.
What does any of it have to do with your
criticism of a decorated veteran?
Thomas is a bastard; just the kind of bastard repubs like. The need for power over women and others to feel mighty. Sad, really. Allegations??? C’mon, be serious. You saying it doesn’t make it true.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:19 amWill someone buy NeD one of those Ken Mehlman Talking Points Action Figures?. They’re a bit expensive, but at least he’ll go and play with it and we adults can talk in peace…
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:21 amDilEnema,
Change your own diapers, we’re tired of doing it for you. If you want a rash, fine, get your own ointment.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:21 amAnybody know if there are any protestors in beautiful downtown Donnelly, population 138? I saw on the Spokane news the adoring few who watched his helicopter fly over them, but no way would they show any protestors around here. I wish I could take a run down there, but I don’t get 5 weeks’ vacation.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:30 amNeddy, some of us have been studying Pat Robertson’s quotes from yesterday’s 700 Club show. Are you Pat Robertson, by any chance?
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:31 am#40 — Robertson’s a better writer.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:36 amAnn Coulter then
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:46 amTerrorist mom – oy vey – pulling out all the stops, eh? You know, you can’t count on the military propping up this admin anymore. Everyone is seeing what is happening right in front of them; eyes are opening. The time has come when even you can’t believe yourself anymore. tick tick tick
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:53 am#35 – it’s gibberish to you when you have no plausible counter argument. You know it’s true. Kerry and his supporters were HUGE hypocrites on military experience. That’s fine – as usual, conservatives have the last laugh.
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:55 amWell, there won’t be any pesky protestors to deal with – the resort is private property, thus protestors can be legally banned – no doubt a contributing reason for this trip
August 23rd, 2005 at 11:58 amNE Enema has got to be better looking.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:01 pmYour laughing is starting to seem really forced. I don’t think you are laughing at all. I know better; you are angry and now you need a focus. I suppose you can use Clinton and Kerry, but you should really find some new material. We are getting bored here with you. New material, dude.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:02 pmThis just keeps getting better.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:11 pmNow junior has to run from the people.
His yellow ass won’t be safe in Washington either!
How sweet it is!
P & P – this issue needs to be addressed. Many claim in the site that you can only have an opinion in the war if you have served. Then, after I show how you lose on that front, you conveniently move on to how conservatives trashed war hero Kerry. If anything, I am tired of correcting you misguided folk with no political savvy whatsoever.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:12 pmNED, did you say something?
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:13 pmWhy are you still talking?
Wow NED, another great distortion
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:19 pmin #49.
Amazing how you attempt to twist
something that only happened over
the last few hours and is all documented
above.
Time to get some new spin-points from
Rush.
Maybe NED is in an Idaho bunker waiting for Bush visit. When the going gets tough in Crawford, the weak-kneed bully seeks out his nazi brotherhood and pays homeage to his grandpappy Prescott’s spirit.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:21 pmOK Neddy, how about Ralph Reed?
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:21 pmSome points regarding Donnelly and Idaho and Bush:
Bush’s approval rating in Idaho is 59%, the highest in the country (ooh bad). But, the Idaho Statesman recently (and one suspects patriotically) asked Idahoans to write in with suggestions for the president. My guess is that approx. 90% of the letters mailed in and published were viscerally hostile to the prez. (Check it out at idahostatesman.com.)
Finally, the “nazi” Idaho argument is pretty weak, and to resort to it here just reveals your own ignorance. Nonetheless, it serves its purposes on occasion: those who don’t know shit about Idaho can be counted on to make the connection, and that can only hurt the big butthead. So, let ‘er rip.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:27 pmNED just wants to re-live his slime-boat
glory days when people still bought the
B.S. Now people see the Cheney administration
for what it is: the most corrupt and incompetent
in many decades (in U.S. History?, I’m not a
historian so I am not sure how much whitewash
was in my education, but this administration
is WAY, WAY up there).
Corruption seems to be catching up with the GOP
in general too:
- Coin-gate (Ohio seems flush with crooks
with Taft, Ney, so many more)
- Ol’ “Duke” Cunningham
- Abramoff (this one has many players)
No party has a lock on corruption, but man
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:28 pmthe GOP seems to have gone hog wild.
Isn’t Idaho & Wyoming (and quite a few states surrounding) host of a large population of skinheads? (seriously)
Also, I saw the video of Pat Robertson & he is sounding more like a nutjob than I ever thought before.
When people in the church start telling you what to think about politics, it is time to call a spade a spade and tell them they are a CULT.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:30 pmIdaho liberal
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:32 pmYOu can’t deny that Idaho and several western states that provide remoteness contain nazi groups. Remoteness provides for cloaking. What better place to run to. And no wonder Idaho is pro-Bush. And i was trying to make the connection to bush’s family history of nazism. I don’t think it’s ignorant to say that. Sometimes liberals can be annoying.
One more point Idaho Liberal
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:35 pmMaybe we need to ask the Indians what they think about Idaho and it’s white constituency. I don’t think they’d have a problem with the nazi connotation.
Per capita, California is the skinhead/ nazi/rightradical capital of the country. Per capita.
Of course Idaho has them. Who doesn’t?
Imagine how annoying it is to have some effete Eastern critical thinker repeat the old nazi/idaho mantra without knowing what s/he’s talking about. Donnelly is approximately 200 miles south of the location of our vaunted nazis, who are no more than a memory (I assume you refer to the Butler Aryan Nations gang). Tamarack is a new resort that is catering/will cater to extremely wealthy folks, most of them from out of state. No nazis in sight, and none welcome.
“And no wonder Idaho is pro-Bush”: while I think that I know why Idaho is pro Bush, I don’t get YOUR reference here. What is the “no wonder” of which you speak?
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:38 pmIdaho Liberal
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:38 pmGo tell it to the Indian tribes
Indians? There’s not much to differentiate Idaho from almost any other state when it comes to the whites’ treatment of native americans.
You’re into broad-brush epithets, aren’t you? Aren’t you interested in refining your terms? It will make your rhetoric more effective.
I can help. Just listen…
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:39 pmand i ain’t effete eastern critical thinker
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:40 pmi be in texas
Wow, you edited your Indian comment between my reading and my response.
You are quick. But how did you improve it? I can’t tell. I’m dense. I’m Idahoan.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:40 pmTexas! Now I understand!
Wow, I’m sorry you’re from Texas.
There’s nothing you can do about it. I’ll leave you alone.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:41 pmAs they said in the movie Thunder Heart “we’re all on the reservation”
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:41 pmYour point is weak and, pointless.
Hey dump on texas all you want – go for it. I don’t make the mistake of defending the defenseless, like you. You are standing on water.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:42 pmI defended 41% of Idaho’s population who disapprove of Bush, and the other 59% of Idaho’s population, save a few nutcases, from being called Nazis.
What’s weak and pointless about that?
I noted that Indians have suffered on every square inch of US soil.
Weak and pointless?
You are a moron. Later.
NM
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:46 pmWow. Northeast Dilemma is on a bum Zell Miller trip today. I guess it’s even harder than usual to be an irrelevant tool when your team only has a 36% approval rating. You won and you’re fucking it all up. Get over it!
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:47 pmThe weakness is that we are all on the reservation and defending IDaho is pointless. The entire country is messed up. Give up this we’re really ok notion. It ain’t ok. It hasn’t been ok for a long time. Like a lot of liberals, you have some good notions, but they are drowned out by this notion of basic goodness. Forget about it.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:47 pmName calling is the next to last refuge of a scoundrel. The last refuge is patriotism.
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:48 pmThat sounds like a commercial endorsement for the resort!
How much do you think George is getting for plugging these “crown jewels”
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:50 pmIf you all ignore ned (hard to do, don’t I know it) he will eventually leave. It’s the idiotic arguments that feed his sick mind. He really doesn’t know it when he’s wrong it appears, so what’s the point? Blow a gasket cause that asshole? I don’t think so.
Let sleeping dogs lie, don’t make fun of the invalid. Didn’t you get taught that stuff when you were kids?
August 23rd, 2005 at 12:56 pmThat WAS a commercial endorsement for the resort. I don’t approve, it’s not my crowd, but they are not Nazis!
And for those of you who don’t approve of name-calling, please note that I was responding to pointless…name-calling!
NED, by the way, has gone away. I’m “Idaho Liberal,” and y’all can pile on.
But before I go: don’t neglect to note that my original point, which even you whacked-out commies should appreciate, is that EVEN Idaho — even NAZI Idaho, is showing signs of joining your vaunted anti-Bushian consensus.
I’ve been there all along.
Now, I’m going to go back to reading my Ed Kilgore propaganda pieces.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:02 pmNow we’re commies
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:05 pmI see. When you don’t agree with Idaho liberal, you’re a moron and a commie.
Maybe i hit the mark with the nazi comment. Funny how liberal reveals a fascist underside with just a small scrap of the surface.
Christ you’re stupid.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:07 pmKindness – did you have screwdriver with breakfast? I am clearly the most informed person in this blog. I’ll admit, it’s not difficult when you people are still hung up on the “we wuz robbed” Ohio sequel.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:14 pmIdaho – you might want another sip of that kool aid too. You really are stupid.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:17 pmI’m working on my street cred, so:
NED, you are really out of touch. I hate you. You suck. You Nazi. Why don’t you go to Idaho?
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:19 pmOhmygod!
Nobody loves me!
You folks have too much time on your hands. This experiment is over.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:19 pmI love you, Idaho Liberal. I am one of you. This comment section has deteriorated from the topic, which was Georgie’s vacation from his vacation. I’ve lived in Idaho for a long time and have never met a skin head or a neo-nazi. Have you?
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:25 pmI am clearly the most informed person in this blog.
OMG, that is classic. Hilarious. I applaud you NED. That statement should go down in the blogging hall of fame, next to the word “asshat.”
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:29 pmIdaho liberal
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:30 pmMaybe christ loves you even though you used his name in vain when you called me stupid, and zookeeper loves you too. You’re not much fun anymore
#80 – I am sorry – do you not believe that Bush stole the 2000 and 2004 election? DO you not think that Bush is bed with the Saudis (but, the Clintons were not) Do you not think that Bush lied about WMD (but Clinton did not).
You’re still living in Woodstock hippie loser. I actually watched it over the weekend. Woodstock was great – it ensured Nixon’s landslide re-election agaisnt the communist sympathizing left!!! Hippie thanks – your stupidity has helped generations of Republicans!!! lol!!
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:34 pmGood griefers, NeD, I can offer you no more attention. I tire of you.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:34 pmIn my youth I hung out in an Irish bar in lower Manhattan frequented by wall street workers. The bar owner was a friendly guy. And he had a strange painting hung by the door. You couldn’t miss it when you walked in. But if you didn’t know it’s meaning you were no wiser. It was a hat with a slash through it. Meaning no hats. One might think it was just a piece of modern art. But it was a message. It meant “no hats.” Meaning no jews. Jews who walked in had no idea. One day I was told that down at the end of the bar sat a former guard at a nazi concentration camp. The bar owner was friends with this man. It was hitler’s birthday and they were celebrating. Except there was one thing they were unhappy about, that they didn’t get all the jews. When i was told this bit of news, i left and never returned. It was quite a shock. You see you have to ask questions to find out what’s really going on below the seemingly normal surface of wall street or idaho.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:40 pm#82, Clinton was in bed with the Indonesians and the Chinese, not the Saudis. And I think a majority of Amurkans believe at least the 2000 was stolen by Bush. Check it out: even a Fox poll said so (I know you have a problem with polls Neddy so I gave you a Fox poll) http://archive.democrats.com/display.cfm?id=249
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:49 pm#47 I agree 100%. We discuss new shit everyday that Bush does and NED wants to keep talking about Clinton. Hey NED, CLinton isn’t president anymore. He can’t even run for president again. Bush on the other hand has another 3.5 years to screw things up.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:49 pmFor the Bush supporters, his national approval ratings are 40% or below in nearly every category. This is a free fall of epic proportions. Sean Hannity almost had a nervous breakdown on the radio yesterday (I’m a dial surfer and it was like listening to a trainwreck so I stayed tuned for a few minutes to behold the carnage) as he implored his audience to stop believing the evil Democrats that are trying to undermine our great leader…hahaha..priceless. I thought for sure he’d start dropping f-bombs.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:50 pmNow if we can ensure that the mid-term elections (and beyond) are legitimate with legislation that makes voting receipts mandatory and we can get the Democrats to PULL THEIR HAEDS OUT OF THEIR ASSES, we may be getting somewhere.
Jay
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:52 pmBut Hilary must be crowned and the Clinton dynasty live on, fed on the blood of young conscripts sent to Iraq to bring democracy and stability and ….
Come on NED, all politics aside, you have to admit this sentence is hilarious:
I am clearly the most informed person in this blog.
August 23rd, 2005 at 1:57 pmcmw in post #84, interesting that it was an Irish bar. Being from Boston and growing up around so many great Irish people and eventually marrying a beautiful Irish girl, I’m distraught about the following people:
Bill O’Reilly
Sean Hannity
Peggy Noonan
Chris Matthews
Scott McClellan
WTF?
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:02 pm#89, that’s a lucid comment. You Amurkans have not figured out that you are most of the way to a monarchy already with the Bushes on one hand and the Clintons on the other – Bush already has the power of Attainder. Jefferson must be “rolling in his slave” as Bill Maher puts it.
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:03 pmcmw,
Who would you like to see nominated from the D party for 08?
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:04 pmWoodstock ruined America for conservatives for 40 years. No hate. Great sex. Kick-ass music and blunt-rolled, Buddha dope. America as the Founders intended it.
No wonder NED fears it. George Bush is poised to pull a full Nixon with a half-twisting Iran-Contra jack-knife off the 30-meter board. NED should bag the GWOT and go straight to the GOP War on Deja Vu.
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:04 pm“I am clearly the most informed person in this blog.”
Stop it NED. I almost choked on a pretzel I was laughing so hard.
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:04 pmJay
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:09 pmThere’s no one in the Dem party that i would vote for at this point in time.
You know, I’m pretty sure John McCain is going to be the Republican candidate in 08. Does anyone here think he’d get a serious run for his money from anybody the D’s have to offer? The Democrats have been so shamefully afraid to stand up and lead with the truth that I’m not sure they deserve to win right now (Feingold’s recent courageous stance notwithstanding).

August 23rd, 2005 at 2:10 pmjust saw your comment about Irish. Yes – there is a deep strain of meanness in the IRish soul. No wonder after 700 odd years of English torture. We learn from our masters the lessons of hate.
If McCain runs, the Dems are dead in the water, but I don’t think he’ll get the chance. The conservative Christians will surely “swift boat” his ass just like in 2000. There’ll be no way they’ll let him secure the Republican nomination.
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:14 pmSo what do we do? With all of McCain’s craven ballswabbing of GWB this last election, how can I have any respect for the man? Would he really be the lesser of two evils up against, say, Joe Biden? I’m not so sure. It’ll be interesting. Would love it if McCain was elected and showed some of the true courage we all know he’s buried in order to stay in the GOP’s good graces and went after the Bushies for war crimes. Sorry folks….just daydreaming.
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:15 pmIf it’s Kerry vs McCain it should be pointed out that they are both guilty of war crimes, cause they killed innocent civilians in an undeclared war. But of course none of that will be spoken of. If it’s Hilary vs McCain, they can outdo each other on how many troops they will commit to finish the job in IRaq.
We need a third party, an anti-war party. That would be a good bet to beat McCain and Clinton.
August 23rd, 2005 at 2:15 pmI think we’d have a much better chance of forcing the Democratic party to change and start fighting for what it’s supposed to stand for. The current two parties are so well-established and well-funded that it’d take many years for a third party to mount a serious bid to unseat them.

August 23rd, 2005 at 3:23 pm“Lonely Republican”? Try “friendless” and “embarrassing.”
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:28 pm“Keep drinking the kool aid people.”
I really don’t care much about the rest of your postings NED, shrill and vitriolic as they are. I do ask you to refrain from using a metaphor of which you know absolutely nothing whatsoever about. This particular comment(above) reeks of an ignorance unparalleled in its idiocy. Were you at all familiar with the ingestion of “kool aid” of the sort you are alluding, you would of course realize that those who actually were able to do so forty years ago, are some of those CEO’s and leaders of business communities from which you desperately seek sustenance. So please, stop demonstrating your own inadequacy, your own passionate desire to have had some, and try other slurs, insults, name calling, etc.
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:29 pmSpyder – you know nothing about me to say that. Why don’t you stop judging people just because they don’t agree with you?
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:33 pmActually spyder, I think you might be wrong on this one.
Were you at all familiar with the ingestion of “kool aid†of the sort you are alluding, you would of course realize that those who actually were able to do so forty years ago, are some of those CEO’s and leaders of business communities from which you desperately seek sustenance.
Anyone who ingested the kool aid of the sort to which NED alludes is now quite dead. The origin of the “drink the kool aid” metaphor is the mass suicide of the followers of Jim Jones’ cult, who drank cyanide-laced kool aid (actually Flavor Aid–but not important).
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:40 pmPersonally spyder, I originally thought the “kool aid” in the “drink the kool aid” metaphor was the same kind that I’m pretty sure you are referring to, but it turns out it’s not.
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:42 pmCJ – yes, I am familiar with. Interesting that Jimmy Carter actually met with Jones at the White House just months before Jones slaughtered hundreds of people. Never underestimate the judgement of a liberal President.
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:43 pmNed, did Jim Jones personally hold open the mouths of his followers himself? Were you there, did you see that? Poppy Bush gave Sharon the green light to invade Lebanon resulting in Israel’s Vietnam and Shabra and Shatila slaughters. How about support for Saddam during the 80’s? Never underestimate the judgement of a Republican president.
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:52 pmOh sorry forgot: Guatemala, Panama, Nicarauga, Iran-contra, did I miss any?
August 23rd, 2005 at 3:56 pmI have been reading these comments and got a great laugh out of them. But seriously, what rock did this neD crawl out from under?
He sounds like a Jeff Gannon playmate to me.

Actually, Ann Coulter is his pinup. I think he might actually be Ann Coulter.
August 23rd, 2005 at 6:06 pmOn the same weekend that Boy George excitedly pedaled his shiny new bicycle with Lance Armstrong, seemingly oblivious (or at least indifferent) to events outside his Crawford playhouse, the following tragedy befell our troops, who unlike Bush WEREN’T AWOL:
“Reuters — FOUR American soldiers were killed and THREE others seriously injured Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded under their vehicle in southern Afghanistan…”
Pedal faster, lil’ George! Boy, look at him go, with those handlebar streamers flapping in the wind… Wheeeeeeeeeee!
August 23rd, 2005 at 6:42 pmAs long as Bushie is enjoying himself that is all that matters right? Hope it’s a swimming accident this time.
August 23rd, 2005 at 9:28 pmGeorgie really enjoys being president. Remember how much fun he had driving around with his good friend Putin of the KGB?
August 24th, 2005 at 12:03 amACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT!
Howdy, folks. You may be aware of Monday’s poll that reveals Bush’s approval rating to have dropped to 36% from the 42% he garnered in July. Not only is this a new low for him, it’s lower than the 39% Nixon received in 1973 during the height of Watergate! But did you hear about this in your local paper or news broadcast? Probably not, since it has nothing to do with Natalee Holloway or Paris Hilton. It simply hasn’t registered with the mainstream media yet.
BUT WE CAN FIX THAT! Listed below are the contact addresses for 35 major newspapers and news magazines. PLEASE COPY-AND-PASTE THESE INTO AN E-MAIL URGING THESE PUBLICATIONS TO REPORT ON THIS DRAMATIC DEVELOPMENT. You should include a brief message, or you might choose to paste the following:

On Monday, American Research Group, a reputable polling firm established in 1985, released a new poll of 1,100 Americans which pegs President Bush’s approval rating at 36%, having dropped from 42% in July, revealing a major shift over the past month (link 1). Amazingly, Bush’s 36% rating falls below the 39% Richard Nixon garnered in July 1973 during the Watergate scandal (link 2). I urge your publication to report on this highly newsworthy development as an important service to your readers. Thank you.

PLEASE NOTE: I’d suggest sending the e-mail to yourself, inserting the newspaper addresses in the “Blind/BCC†box. Add no attachments since newspaper editors will not open them. Include commas between e-mail addresses. And your e-mail service might allow no more than 10-20 recipients per message, so you may have to send up to three e-mails.
