You liberal whiners can't be serious. You lament about innocent lives being lost in wars but, you don't mind killing babys when there's a chance they may interfere with your lifestyle. We lose nearly 130 lives each and every day in the U.S.A. just from traffic accidents. This plus all of the gasoline being used by motor vehicles, I'm surprised you guys aren't trying to ban the automobile and demand that every one ride bicycles. In reality, you're not upset about lives being lost, you just don't like it when the conservative Republicans are right and are helping the people in Iraq. I fully support our troups and their mission.

[...] The truth hurts. More than 60 U.S. troops have died in Iraq since President Bush went on vacation. Iraq’s interim government has twice missed the deadline for presenting a constitution. The current draft of the constitution not only threatens to create an illiberal Shia theocracy that doesn’t respect the rights of women and religious minorities, but also risks intensifying the current undeclared sectarian civil war. And the president’s approval rating has dropped to an all-time low of 36 percent – lower than Richard Nixon’s approval rating at the height of Watergate. Cindy Sheehan is not the only American who thinks that things aren’t going so well in Iraq. [...]

When I was on vacation in Puerto Vallarta in early March of this year I did feel the ease of being carefree. I have to admit I did not think about the war, the economy, or much else connected to the good ole USA.

But, I am not the President of the United States of America the most powerful nation of the planet.

Pictures of W on vacation while the world burns evoke so many comparisons to the what it probably looked like for emperors such as Louis XVIth, Nero, Caligula, Czar Nicholas 2nd, Maximillian, and so forth. MisterB was on to something above. We are watching empire in its most ugliest demonstration of arrogant power. The legions are out dying for the glory while the princes and lords while away the hours lounging publicly and garishly in their decadance.

On the same weekend that Boy George excitedly pedaled his shiny new bicycle with Lance Armstrong, seemingly oblivious (or at least indifferent) to events outside his Crawford playhouse, the following tragedy befell our troops, who unlike Bush WEREN'T AWOL:

"Reuters -- FOUR American soldiers were killed and THREE others seriously injured Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded under their vehicle in southern Afghanistan..."

Pedal faster, lil' George! Boy, look at him go, with those handlebar streamers flapping in the wind... Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!

GDM, I know, right? It sounds so foolish and some people just keep sopping it up like gravy. As long as this admin can keep thinking (an operative word) up any counter-argument, it really doesn't make any difference how stupid it is. The sheeple will eat - the sheeple need to be fed.

They can say virtually anything and these "Stockholm Syndrome" drones will bite. Just think about it, they cannot admit they have ever been wrong under any circumstances no matter what. They can't or their world will not make sense anymore. They have decided that they have an enemy (I see all of you repubs are reading your pocket version of The Art of War, which none of you understand anyway) and must squash the enemy. They need desperately a target. I find it pathological. It's like a tick being pulled from the neck of a dog - it needs a host. And, so do the sheeple. They need a host like Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh, etc.

I am still contemplating the reasons why the trolls come here. We know it's not to get insight and definately not to sway us. Anyone? I'm trying to find the root of the repub pathology; call it an experiment.

It's disgusting to see Gov. Kempthorne, aka Plastic Man, hanging around Georgie like a little puppy. Plastic Man wants to be president, too, except he has no personality. He's going to need another vacation after this one. I think all the Cindys are getting to him. If there's a god, thank you.

As rush limburger said, what's the big deal, we've all lost something. Some lost their lives. Jenna Bush lost her purse in a Georgetown bar. If there's anything to learn from this, it's that Daddy can always buy you a new purse.

No, each individual soldier is a troop, but I can see the confusion and that is why the Bush administration uses it. It is a softer word than soldier or person.

When I was addressed by my drill seargent, he would say "Get over her troop." Trooper is another way of saying it. Just like troops and troopers means the same thing.

In the corporate world, these "troops" would be called resources. It's almost what these fallen Americans have become to BushCo...

But I digress. :-)
