Reading these comments makes me nostalgic for the days decades ago when politicians and everyday Americans could debate any subject without slinging political mud at each other. With the recent passing of President Ford, how ironic that this vitriolic woman from California continuously garners press and media time on our airwaves. To those of you throwing mud in the eyes of your fellow Americans calling them "bushites" or "bushies", kudos. Thank you for stooping to the level of kindergarten playground namecalling. The subject of servicemen losing their lives in a war that may or may not be justified is something far more serious than a debate over Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. Not every person who disagrees with your opinion is a Republican, right-wing fanatic, or supporter of President Bush. Bring the servicemen home, that should be a priority. But labeling a state blue or red, calling a fellow American a derorgatory name, or just simply spewing filth because todays present social climate says it's alright to not display manners and common decency is just plain wrong. Cindy Sheehan is more than entitled to mourn her deceased son in her own manner. But prolonging this media battle she has waged for two years goes far beyond the state of mourning. President Bush is a lame-duck President, whether you like him or not he is out of office two years from now. If that isn't soon enough for some Americans, live with it. Some of us had to endure Bill Clinton for eight years, and now the rest of America has to endure G.W. Bush for his full eight years of office. I personally don't care who sits in the oval office, as long as the troops come home as quickly as possible. Shouldn't the more important question be how are we caring for our troops now and how will we be treating them when they do come home in the future? Why doesn't anyone debate that?

America feels that Black people and poor people are worthless to this society except to use for their labor and to blame crime on. In an article written by sociologist Herbert J. Gans entitled “The Uses of Poverty: The Poor Pay All,” he discusses how the continued existence of poverty in a society that has so much material wealth is beneficial to the status quo. He concluded that poverty had 13 functions in society that was beneficial to non-poor members. They include: making sure that the menial work tasks of society will be taken care of, the creation of jobs that provide aid for the poor, and the existence of the poor keeps the aristocracy busy with charitable works, thus demonstrating charity to the less fortunate and superiority over the elites who chose to spend their free time making more money. He also give several alternatives to poverty such as redistributation of the wealth in society, putting everyone on a more even playing field, but ultimately concluded that poverty will continue to exist because disturbing the unequal balance between the poor and the wealthy in society would prove to be dysfunctional for the affluent and that will not happen. In a hierarchical society such as in America, there will always be someone on the bottom.

*

Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco lashed out at FEMA on Tuesday (Sept 13), complaining the agency is moving too slowly in recovering the bodies of those killed by Hurricane Katrina.

The dead “deserve more respect than they have received,” she said at state police headquarters in Baton Rouge.
Governor Blanco: Body Recovery Taking Too Long

She said that the Federal Emergency Management Agency still has not signed a contract with the company hired to handle the removal of the bodies, Houston-based Kenyon International Emergency Services.

Calls to a FEMA spokesman in New Orleans and the Homeland Security Department in Washington were not immediately returned.

This is coming from a woman, who had acted when she was supposed to, could have avoided the deaths, at least most of them. SHE IS TOTALLY WITHOUT SHAME. She should be impeached or at the least, held accountable for the deaths in her state. If the good people of New Orleans elects this person again, they deserve what will happen to them.

Just to be clear, I do have sympathy for Cindy. My ‘nutjob’ comment is based on some of the things she has said: “we are in a nuclear war in Iraq”, “Bush is a terrorist” — these are delusional rants. OK, maybe she’s not a nutjob, but she’s at least delusional.

Comment by Concerned Conservative — August 25, 2005

YOU NEED TO SEE PAT BUCHANNAN'S MAG, AND READ ABOUT CHEENEY WANTING TO MAP OUT A PLAN TO DROP A NUKE ON IRAN....

STEP AWAY FROM THE KOOL-AID....the good Lord gave you two ears but only one mouth...FIGURE OUT WHY.

Big YAWN over a tired, ignorant argument. "BUSH LIED...." No, the was in Iraq has been called the "War on Terror" - - NOT the "War Against Those Who Attacked Us on 9/11" - that has been taking place in Afghanistan. Saddam, Iran, and Syria have been state sponsors of Terrorism for 30 years - they should be next on the roster.

The wheels in dumbya's brain go round and round.....

Meanwhile back at the "ranch" and everywhere in the world, we realize we've been lied into war. And REAL AMERICANS ARE GIVING THEIR LIVES FOR NOTHING BUT BUILDING SOMEONE ELSE'S FORTUNES.

Ranch HELL, it was a pig farm before the monkey bought it, and as far as I'm concerned it is STILL A PIG FARM.

So where will Bush find the mother who is willing to go on camera and say, "I'm glad my child was killed to no clear purpose?" How many of these GOP murder junky vultures are willing to send their children into a meat grinder for an unlimited time with no clear goals in place, no plan for withdrawal, no independent measures of success, no accountability for anyone in the civilian chain of command, and an endless parade of rah rah on tv and hidden coffins coming into Dover in the dark of night? Barb and Jenna are not even in the Green Zone. Dick's kids could be pitching in. Don't some of these other GOP stalwarts have some kids to throw in the pot? No? I thought not.

THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!!
Check out the three photos of the pro-war "Fort Qualls" at the National Review site above. Notice anything missing? Such as...oh, I dunno...how about people? Quite the rally ya got goin' on there, Bushies! Who'd you limit the invitation list to, ghosts? "Everyone is welcome to attend our Fort Qualls rally, so long as you're a ghost, invisible, or were never born." These rednecks couldn't successfully pull off a birthday party.

Check out the three photos of the pro-war “Fort Qualls” at the National Review site above. Notice anything missing? Such as…oh, I dunno…how about people? Quite the rally ya got goin’ on there, Bushies! Who’d you limit the invitation list to, ghosts? “Everyone is welcome to attend our Fort Qualls rally, so long as you’re a ghost, invisible, or were never born.” These rednecks couldn’t successfully pull off a birthday party.

CC
Go away and visit Cindy Sheehan and give her your support. Give us all your support so we can stop this madness. Quit splitting hairs about nuclear war because that Iraqi baby died from nuclear fusion from a reactive shell casing rather than from a mushroom cloud. Or would it be ok with you if the baby died from the napalm used in Fallauja.

My deepest sympathies on the loss of your son. I can’t imagine the pain.

Now, having made a complete ass of myself, I will go away."

I commend you for admitting you were in the wrong there. You are a much better person than NED.

“We are waging a nuclear war in Iraq right now.”

If she was talking about depleted uranium, why didn’t she say so?

If one of you has a spare Cindy Sheehan decoder kit, please give it to me. Until then I will continue to take her at her word.

So at least you will admit there is a serious problem with depleted uranium CC. The Iraqis have to suffer the consequences and the effects of using depleted uranium. It's a pity the British and American governments don't see that there is a problem that needs addressing, urgently.

Using depleted uranium on the battlefield may be great strategically, (for piercing thick armour, on enemy tanks). But then the Americans should clear up after themselves, so the innocent children and adult Iraqis, don’t have to deal with the effects. The same goes for the use of cluster bombs, children are still having limbs blown off, when they innocently stand on what have for all intense and purposes become land mines. Sitting there just under the surface of the sand, waiting for their next victim to come along.

Probably another story that America has not been made aware of. Another bad news story, just sweep it under the carpet, and move on. What about those elections hey?
God bless America, sing it loud, and sing it proud.

Family and friends enjoying a wedding, on the Iraq, Syria border. The American military mistakenly believe they’re insurgents/terrorists. They blitz the building where the wedding celebrations are taking place. Innocent Iraqis are killed/murdered, along with a number of children. Oops, we got the wrong people. This was after intense pressure from the media, to admit to their mistake. We’ll investigate, and get back to you.

Iraqi people shopping in a busy market place, a Raytheon missile explodes on the busy market, killing sixty-two Iraqis. “Not our fault”, said the American government.

Ageing Iraqi anti-aircraft missiles must have caused it. Even though the Raytheon missile was identified from the remains of its serial number, on a foot-long shrapnel shard from the incriminating missile. And was the cause of the explosion in the busy Baghdad market.

The Pentagon and Raytheon, declined to comment on the serial number and the overwhelming evidence. The US Defence Department said: "Our investigations are continuing.” Again the Americans will investigate, and get back to you, which they never do. Oops we’ll be sure to look into it. What about the oil fields, that are back up and running again?

And then you get a Republican whinging, “Why do the Iraqis hate Americans so much, after all we have done for them.”

I have no idea; can anybody else hazard a guess?
