I would like to comment on Mr. O’Reilly statements about the non existance of racial prejudice and the American people should not rely on the government for protection against disaster and if they are poor, thats too bad, get an education. The comments were misplaced. True – All races of americans did come together in the rescue. The comments were pertaining to the preparation of New Orleans and the priority of pre-protection of the levees. To avoid total confusion, it would be fair to expect the government to protect all as well as the business of America in a unified manner in order to maintain a successful nation. This comes as a shock since I could never imagine someone so anti-Bush as Loftus allying himself with the Fox News Channel. If he didn’t know what he was getting into with that unholy marriage, I don’t know what to say. Maybe the goal was to feed him bad info to read on the air so that he would be discredited and the Bush clan could shut him up. It’s neater than “disappearing” him. Lofuts, ya shoulda known better than that.

I’m afraid most of you are missing the point (Innocent Bystander excepted), as liberals so often do. The fact is that these people were not terrorists, so Fox News is entirely culpable. There was no checking out of the “story”. The fact that they even broadcast this “mistake” is appalling, possibly even more appalling than Michael Devarro’s snotty comment. As soon as you start with “If the guy was a terrorist…” you’ve changed the subject and distorted the issue, which is a favorite right-wing method. Another one is to “apologize” afterward so the media lets them off the hook (See Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, et. al.) The point is you can’t broadcast somebody’s address no matter what. There’s just no reason for it. Fox is starting to act like one of those sophomoric morning radio shows.

This is a really egregious breach of ethics, carried out on publicly owned broadcast channels. I think they should be prosecuted for libel too.
