Equipment and folks that could help in this emergency are in Iraq. FEMA should have been better prepared after 9/11 incident. I keep asking myself days following this disaster? No word how much and to whom. Nice gesture from one of the wealthiest famelies. So far that's the only good thing I have heard about the Bushes in nearly 5 years. Of course lot's of what they sent was our's first, no matter, the south needs all the help we can muster. How about bringing all our troops home to help in this disaster and rebuilding. Or do you mean abandon, as in never return? They are extending the mandatory evacuation and bussing everyone out, but they plan to rebuild the city. From the sound of things, there are problems of coordination and communication among the various emergency personnel and agencies involved. Nagin seems to blame some communication breakdown for why the 17th street and canal levee wasn't repaired. Does anyone know more about this? Who is calling the shots down there?
