I guess emailing, calling your senators, about pork being added to this emergency bill, might work, if everyone reminds them that sometime in the future they are up for re-election. But it takes alot of calls to get staff running to a senator, when the polls drop. For those who don’t follow the wishes of their constituents, they might find themselves unemployed. They can join their fellow Americans at the unemployment lines. Yeh, right, don’t I wish!

I just heard tonight that, once again, Halliburton has (another no-bid) contract to deal with Katrina’s damage to New Orleans. Will it NEVER end? There are so many people from N.O. that NEED the job, it’s THEIR city, and I’m SICK of Halliburton getting all the green. (I feel as though we should just make our yearly checks out to them, and skip the IRS) Those people can’t get enough of our money. The Neo-cons have looted, plundered, and stole enough of our money, not to mention our country and religion. If it weren’t for “special interests” we would have built N.O. some proper protection. (Please bear in mind that N.O. is the largest port in this country) Their budget was cut for the Iraq invasion, BUT there’s enough money in the budget to build a bridge to nowhere in Alaska – go figure.

CONservatives always use tragedies as an opportunity to help their friends and undermine legal protections. That’s why the patriot act that undermines civil liberties was pushed through. They see their own failures as an opportunity to ‘fail’ the american ideal in even more grand ways – but yet they’re too self deluded to know this is what they accomplish.

I can imagine that some of the following “because of the Katrina emergency” scenarios will show up in future GOP-written Congressional legislation:

* suspension of the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts along the Gulf Coast
* suspension of the Endangered Species Act along the Gulf Coast
* massive bailouts for all oil-related industry in the Southeast, whether or not they were directly affected
* waiver of all work safety rules for highway reconstruction in storm damaged areas
* waiver of liability for all oil-related industries

Tom Delay must be jubilant at the potential to sneak stuff like this through.

Let me add as usual. I wish for a ton of roman candles and equal amount of matches. I know where to stick them, where our politicians sun don’t shine. It’s time to get real and get even with all the blood suckers in our country. Impeach, arrest and hold all of them accountable including their lobiest and the camels they rode in on….Blessings to America, we need it.

So are you actually saying that corporate lobbyists are in the clear, ethically speaking, when they attach ammendments to legislation intended only to send aid to the 1 million people whose lives have been upended? Are you really saying it’s wrong of us to criticize the people that honor only the almighty dollar and spit on the principles of democracy by robbing the citizens of this country of their representation?

Even for you, Ron, this position seems impossible to defend.
