“I’m so happy that the president came down here,” Nagin said of Bush’s Friday visit to Louisiana in an interview with CNN. “He came down and saw it, and he put a general on the field. His name is General Honore. And when he hit the field, we started to see action.”

But Nagin had harsh words for his state’s leaders, telling CNN: “What the state was doing, I don’t frigging know. But I tell you, I am pissed. It wasn’t adequate.”
The New Orleans Democrat said he urged Bush to meet privately with Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco during the visit. The meeting took place aboard Air Force One, he said.

After reviewing the crisis with Gov. Blanco, Bush summoned Nagin for a private chat – where, according to Nagin, Bush explained: “Mr. Mayor, I offered two options to the governor. I said . . . I was ready to move today. The governor said she needed 24 hours to make a decision.”

Reacting to the governor’s footdragging, Nagin lamented: “It would have been great if we could of left Air Force One, walked outside, and told the world that we had this all worked out.”

“It didn’t happen, and more people died.”

During the briefing I believe that I heard the Lt. General say that he had this ship recusing people in N.Orleans.

Captain of the ship says he was ordered away from N.Orleans. This is very damning to the recuse spin being briefed today.

This is a horrible disater whose effects couls have been mitigated if anyone had been paying attention.

I’d say mentioning Lake George, Louisiana over and over again during the midterms would be far more righteous than Bush standing on the bodies of the 9/11 dead to pack Congress in ‘02.

Remember: This President failed to keep Americans safe on American soil — twice.

How many more cities can we afford to lose?

Well, not “foaming” exactly, but .. in a rural area where folks consider themselves to be very religious and conservative I am overhearing conversations about ‘bipartisan necktie parties’, even among the quiet, unassuming types you’d think would never dream of such. Right or wrong people are seeing this as government officials at ALL levels failing to get their thumbs out and do their job. Obvious prediction, next election incuments will be facing a lot of nonpartisan “vote the incompetents out” sentiment.
