“The same mistakes made on 9/11 were made over again,

in some cases worse,” says former Gov. Thomas Kean (R-NJ), who chaired the 9/11 Commission. “Those are system-wide failures that can be fixed and should have been fixed right away.”

This just in from Captain Obvious:

    Well, duh!

  2. moderate republican says:

This shows again that the only way we will get change for the better is from moderate, and responsible republicans.

The democratic party has been dead for years and showed it again during this disaster. The nutty left is spending all their time on culture wars, since those issues are clearly more important than people eating and dying.

Meanwhile the country has been burning.

  3. Zookeeper says:

    Check this out for incompetence.

I don’t have time to learn how to do a link. :-)

  4. Zookeeper says:

Duh – I guess I figured it out.

  5. Kenny says:

Mod. Rep.: are these the same republicans who made Terry Schiavo a national crisis while we should’ve been doing work like preparing for disasters?

The “moderate republican” is no longer an endangered species…it’s extinct. Makes one think of “the last of the dodos.”

  6. Terrytheturtle says:

Mod Rep…. who is in charge of the three branches of government? The Democrats, the Moderate Republicans or the Busheviks?

  7. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Keane and his partisan commish are finished. After Able-Danger and Sandy Burglar getting fined for stealing docs, it’s pretty clear no one believes the 9/11 bs. Keane is a PIG who can’t speak proper english and had the nerve to attack Bush.

You people should be more worried about your leaders. Pelosi just lost it with some CNN reporter. Poor darling, she not used to being in the minortiy even it is widely accepted (and has been for sometime) that the other side is screwing up. What happens to Democrats when the GOP gets their act together? LOL!!!

Everyone HATES liberals cause they race-bait, slander the military and act like they know it all. LOL!! See you at the polls suckers!!

  8. afterthought says:

NED = troll. Please ignore. He gets bored and
wanders off to haunt somewhere else.

P & P – then you guys should love me. Gays are right up there with Jesus Christ in your book!

  14. Citizen80203 says:

Hey, I see the skel is back!

You f**king chickenhawk pussy, don’t ever mention our Military again you coward!!! Too many of us here have served you f**king republican skel.

  15. WaltTheMan says:

In response to 9/11, the recovery effort started on 9/11. The rescue effort began immediately after the first tower was hit and noone knew that the event was coming. The gas and electric company(ConEd) was there helping restore the infastructure and supplying breathing masks to the police and rescuers on the side. Rudy and Pataki had the guard down there the next day. W flew around the nation, that day, in fear for his life. Certainly no Churchill who went out to the streets of London and stayed in his capital in spite of the risks. Some may blame the Secret Service, but as President, W could have overruled them.

Now, I will make the point that I really want to deliver. The response to 9/11 was a local effort and it was delivered was delivered almost flawlessly. The locals in LA made the mistake of depending on the Federal government to provide the suppport that they needed, unfortunately, the Federal government is just as ineffective as it was on 9/11, 9/12, 9/13 …

The enormous monolith we call DHS is nothing but a tax sink. A job farm for Bush and Cheney cronies.

  16. Marie says:

Hey #2 moderate — Who is in charge of every office in government? Who refuses to work in any way with the minority party? Who has failed the nation in its own claim as the only party who can keep American safe?
Who has appointed unqualified incompetents to run cricical departments? Who has lied the nation into a war with no end, but a whole lot of dead bodies?
You are way off base, moderate – and far from moderate.

  17. Marie says:

#15 WTM is right on (as usual) the DHS is a banquet trough for the Republican pigs.

  18. progressive and proud says:

Republicans run the country and look at what we have. I rest my case.

  19. WaltTheMan says:

    Re: 18
It’s your fault, you didn’t vote twice like Karl.

  20. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Marie – STFU. Your a dimbulb like the La Gov. AND P & P – you’re a fascist moron who wants to take away my $$ so you can fund your failed social experiments. Citizen80203 – you don’t care about this country, from what I read, you seem to hate it.

I’ll leave you people in your bile of hate and lies. Katrina will give you something else to exploit in your endless search for purpose and power.

  21. Citizen80203 says:

    You f**king skel

I only served this country in war, you chickenhawks are republican skels, we are Americans. I hate on you skel. Effeminate “skel men” like you do nothing for this great country but leech. I only hope to run into you in bar some night skel.

  22. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

Wow. Is that the kompassionate konservatism that I smell in the air? Or is it the waters swirling from ReichWingNut Wack-Job inaction in the deep South?

I am so happy that the ReichWingNut Wack-Jobs give their opinions so freely. You know that someone died and left them in charge, right? It’s only their words and rage that count for anything in this world. Must be just the way their christian god would want it.

  23. Marie says:

Don’t waste your keystrokes on NED. He is a worthless troll.

  24. cynical ex-hippie says:

#2 where do you buy your reality? Dems are not focusing on culture wars, we are demanding FEMA get their act together. Bush and his cronies are the ones who started this “blame game” business. They are looking for political cover. We are looking for answers.

Demanding that FEMA do their job is exactly what everyone should be doing right now.

  25. Joe Sixpack says:

Hey, NED, #20 was a great post. I like the way you told that Marie off. Some here would say that calling her a “facist moron” was a cheap shot, but not me as I am on your side. And telling Citizen 80203 he doesn’t care about this country—I mean, you and I both know that only the rightwing in this care about the country and only we have the right answers. I mean, if it was up to me and you, none of them would have the right to vote.

Correct me if I’m wrong, however, but speaking of “bile, hate and lies,” don’t you just hate it when our leaders like Bush and DeLay get caught with their pants down? I mean, like Bush being on vacation AGAIN when disaster strikes and DeLay’s nasty tricks start catching up with him? I don’t think those two old boys have an IQ above 91, do you?

  26. Citizen80203 says:

Joe you are a bomb, keep exploding man, you bring humor when we need it. Thanks

  27. Sharon Cox says:

Hay Joe, you did mean an IQ of 91 between them, right.?

  28. Joe Sixpack says:

Sharon, I have to give Bush his due: he has an IQ of 91 all right. A genuine dumbsh*t you lefties would say. He inherited it from his dad who has a 98, which makes me wonder just how bad Barbara’s must be.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Junior’s is the lowest of any president in the past 50 years. I mean, Clinton’s was 182, which really pisses us rightwingers off.

  29. WaltTheMan says:

    Sharon,
91 is the combinded IQ of the 55 repug senitors, the Prez, the VP and Lieberman. Add the house repugs and you may reach 100, unless you subtract DeLay, in which case it would be about 150.

  30. WaltTheMan says:

This little ditty describes the Bush family values – I couldn’t find the original but it will do:

    My father makes illegal whisky,
    My mother makes illicit gin,
My sister sells sin on the corner,
My God how the money rolls in.

    Chorus :

Rolls in, rolls in, my God how the money rolls in, rolls in,
Rolls in, rolls in, my God how the money rolls in.

My mother’s a bawdy house keeper,
Every night when the evening grows dim,
She hangs out a little red lantern,
My God how the money rolls in.

My brother’s a curate in Torquay,
He’s saving poor girlies from sin,
He’ll save you a blonde for a guinea,
My God how the money rolls in.

    My Grandad makes cheap prophylactics,
He punctures the end with a pin,
    Grandma performs the abortions,
My God how the money rolls in.

My uncle is whittling out candles,
From wax that is specially soft,
He says it will come in real handy,
If ever his business drops off.

My sister’s a barmaid in Soho,
For a shilling she’ll strip to the skin,
She’s stripping from morning to midnight,
My God how the money rolls in.

  31. WaltTheMan says:

I made an alusion last night that nobody seemed to grasp. I’ll get a bit more direct now:

    Georgey Porgey, pudding and pie
Kissed up ass and made us cry.
But, when disaster came into play
    Georgey Porgey ran away.

It’s twice now, if you discount the Iraq fiasco.

  32. Jon says:

For sure, President Bush faces a marketing challenge after Katrina. But unlike 9/11, in New Orleans the color of suffering – and heroism – is black.

“Why There’s No Lisa Beamer of New Orleans”

  33. WaltTheMan says:

At this point, Lisa Beamer would not help. A messiah might come close, but that is stretching it.

  34. WaltTheMan says:

By the bye, I really admire Lisa’s husband. He had more balls than a Cabinet meeting in the Bush Oval Office.

  35. Marie says:

Now THAT’S a different version of the Georgie Porgie I remember — but I like yours better! It’s so fitting for the boy-king.

  36. David says:

Damn, I can feel the love and national unity in here. Why does reality, and the weather, hate America, George Bush, and Jesus?

  37. Ryan Neat says:

    David,

That’s a great question. I think it’s because he’s anti-gay. The gay section of the french quarter wasn’t flooded, but all of those christian churches and christian areas were drowned… He should get over his homophobia for god strikes again!
