The Rocky Mountain News obtained an email FEMA director Mike Brown sent to his friends last week. Thousands have died and a million people have been displaced but Brown complains that he’s a victim:
I don’t mind the negative press (well, actually, I do, but I try to ignore it) but it is really wearing out the family. No wonder people don’t go into public service. This country is devouring itself, the 24-hour news cycle is numbing our ability to think for ourselves.
The families who were stranded at the convention center and the Superdome without food, water or security had a lot more to worry about than negative press.
He is a victim, only a participatory victim of the GOP ideology. This is why our current federal government does not work. FEMA was redesigned as a failure, the only winners are the pigs that feed from the troughs of GOP pork.
September 11th, 2005 at 3:43 pmHe still has friends? Sorry, couldn’t help it.
September 11th, 2005 at 3:47 pmClaiming that he is the victim is part of the GOP mentality.
He might as well blame everyone who was victimized by the hurricane in the same breath. I wouldn’t expect anything less. It’s all their fault that Brown had to have such a hard time of it. It’s all their fault that Brown accepted the job as director of FEMA, because how was he to know there’d ever be any kind of disaster where he’d have to do any actual work. It’s all their fault, those who died. Poor Brown.
Maybe by the time he gets around to acknowledging his own gross incompetence, he’ll be bothered to blame the rest of the Bush administration first. But I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:09 pmNothing is funnier than a rightwinger playing the victim card. That dog simply doesn’t bark.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:18 pmSomething is in the air and it smells like bullshit and now that Americans have seen it and can smell it they don’t believe the Bush Administration when they say that it’s just roses.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:20 pmI’m beginning to think that Bush really is toast. I’ve certainly been blue-balled by fate enough times that I’m not confident.. but I have some hope this time.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:22 pmI think that the common conservative theme now is that all of the black people caught in NOLA are racist for doing this to George Bush, Brownie, and all of the white Republicans who now “have to feel guilty” for this.
Why can’t poor black people just leave rich, white people alone?
September 11th, 2005 at 4:23 pmAmazed is correct.
He is a victim of cronyism. Hiding in their offices, hoping noone figures out they don’t know what they are doing…
Shoot the ones who blames the media. Try ‘em. Hang ‘em.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:26 pmMy opinion of Brown is the same as everyone who’s commented, but doesn’t even he have the right to send out private messages without them being intercepted and published? Or was this some sort of semi-public statement?
September 11th, 2005 at 4:33 pmKind of belies the idea that the administration is still ‘plugged in’ when they go off on vacation. But what was Brown’s excuse? He was writing memos to Chertoff asking for permission to allocate staff to the area. Has FEMA really been brought so low?
September 11th, 2005 at 4:36 pmHis response is typical of alcoholic and child abusers who are caught. They say they were a victim of a witch hunt because they’re unaccountable for their actions….
September 11th, 2005 at 4:39 pmSo THAT’S why this administration can’t think. It’s that damn 24-hour news cycle, does it every time.
Not thinking can make you fail. For proof, GOOGLE “FAILURE” AND CLICK ON “I’M FEELING LUCKY.”
September 11th, 2005 at 4:41 pmJim Bartle,
Releasing communications is a Bush tactic. Bush did it with his “Whitehouse Tapes” when he was in Texas. It is to show their “human” side.
You know, publicly they hate fags. Privately they find ‘em kinda funny.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:42 pmFolks
We need to blame the GOP for these failures of government, not just the administration. They have ONE PARTY RULE, it is a failure of every branch of the GOP government. Time that the GOP congress started taking at least half of the failure, in time for the 2006 mid-terms. The republican skel congress CAN NOT BE ALLOWED TO SCURRY UNDER ROCKS! Hit them at every front, bitch slap them all and hold them all accountable!
September 11th, 2005 at 4:45 pmanother whiney republican, what a surprise. chickenhawk, too, I’ll bet.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:50 pmCitizen80203,
You have to blame Dems. They have more power than you.
September 11th, 2005 at 4:53 pmCitizen80203, I like the way you think. I’ve always said ‘hold them accountable’, but I really like the bitch slap part. Wish I had thought of it. There are a few there I’d like to slap first, second and three times before even getting to the others.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:00 pmThis admin. is certainly proving the Peter Principal, is alive and well, in D.C. Too bad the rest of us have to suffer from it.
But using that same principal, I’d love to be given a job with even a 6 figure salary, one which I don’t know diddley about, but I can alway bluff my way though.
So what do you say? I’ll hold them down and you bitch slap them! Some might take a few more slaps than others.
Hey skel
Don’t ever address me again. It is your republican skel party government we will blame. Go wring your hands to someone who gives a f**k what you think.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:01 pmCopy:
The Dems need to start busting balls. They allowed themselves to be labelled “Unpatriotic for speaking outâ€.
That exposed their weakness. I, too, was suckered into supporting the war. But it did not stop me from having the balls to change my mind and articulate it rationally.
What do Dems have to lose? Obviously the republicans can’t handle power. They’ll stay their current course and destroy themselves.
Conyers does it.
Hackett does it.
People love it.
I used to be polite with congress. Not anymore. And they email me back PERSONALLY, not the standard automated replies. Try it:http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt?command=congdir
Start with the Dems. Tell them how complicit they are. They shake in their shoes.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:01 pmPeople died, yet it’s all about him.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:02 pmNancy
The above is addressed to the skel brian, not to you.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:03 pmSorry Brian
Thought you were making a different point.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:05 pmI am an evacuee from New Orleans now living in Monroe, LA. I experienced the last hurricane in New Orleans, Camille, when New Orleans East flooded, which precipitated the strengthening of the levee system. The Katrina disaster is not the result of the storm itself; it is the result of poorly built and undermaintained levees. And this is directly attributable to the underfunding by Republicans, who do not fund Democratic areas. The fact that Gov. Blanco was ignored is simply because she is not a Republican. The Republicans wanted to destroy New Orleans to get rid of the state’s Democratic base. Yes, blame Bush, but most definitely BLAME THE FUCKING REPUBLICANS WHO WILL ONLY FUND THEIR OWN. Right now the 51 Billions that were quickly appropriated this week are going to Halliburton and their mercenaries, since our National Guard and other troops are indisposed due to the hogs of the Military Industrial Complex. Would someone please do research on exactly how much of the people’s money the Bush dynasty has pocketed since the Iraq War began? How about the Cheney dynasty?
September 11th, 2005 at 5:10 pmDrownie calls what he was doing public service?
September 11th, 2005 at 5:15 pmI would call it a clusterf*ck.
He’s still getting paid as head of FEMA, no?
September 11th, 2005 at 5:21 pmStop saying Drownie was unqualified! As has been noted elsewhere he was qualified for the job of using FEMA dollars to put Florida into GWB’s column on Election day, by any means possible. that included millions of dollars of FEMA money going to Miami, which had no damage! That was why all the political hacks came out of the campaign.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:32 pm#9
Jim, either you didn’t know it or you forgot it. Brown is an employee of the citizens of the UNited States of America and therefore is entitled to the same privacy at work as every other working person in this country. His e-mail is not private. It is owned by us Joe Public.
Anything I write using my companies e-mail address and their e-mail server is subject to being read by and even acted on, if I was to say something derogetory about the company and or the CEO, for instance.
Michael Brown is not above the law or our scruntiy.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:32 pmNot… to… be… believed.
However, with a name like “Michael Brown,” he can just sort of ooze back into the GOP’s primodial slime. Some of us with more complicated names and cleaner hands don’t do that.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:34 pmI’d love to talk to this guy in five years. In a way, I can understand the “I’m a victim” response right now as he’s been publicly mocked, ridiculed and then moved to another job and I think any of us will find that hard. But, with a little distance, I’d love to know if he’s developed some regrets about how he handled things.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:47 pmBrown’s self-pity stinks just a badly as the rancid water covering New Orleans. He is just as delusional as his Republican confederates in Washington, D.C.
September 11th, 2005 at 5:50 pmI don’t know if he will ever get it. Maybe he needs therapy. Or maybe he just needs to grow up.
While I don’t agree with the way Mr Brown “managed” (if that word can aptly be used in this context and “miserable failure” leaps to mind when attempting to describe the reaction) the Gulf Coast disaster in any way, he is correct that the “24-hour news cycle is numbing our ability to think for ourselves.” Whether it’s Fox, CNN, MSNBC, or take your pick, the continuous stentorian histrionics of the cable and broadcast networks are indeed in the process of turning all our brains to putty.
Just take a quick read through the comments on this and other blogs, left and right, and tell me that we haven’t sunk into a sodden miasma of shouting and lack of critical thinking more fetid than even the most stinky Louisiana swamp. At least swampland serves an ecological purpose, which is more than I’m able to say for the media, “mainstream” or otherwise.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:08 pmJust once I would like to see a Republican accept responsibility for his actions before I die.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:13 pmHe still does not get it. He probably tried to follow plans and adhere to the FEMA rules and regulations, and therefore he is unable to see how he failed. He does not realize that if the rules don’t work, throw out the rulebook.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:14 pmSome cultures (those with a deeply inculcated sense of honor) would require him to forfeit his life by his own hand, as the shame of being responsible for so many avoidable deaths would be too much to bear. Of course, for this thought to even occur to him would require that he possess a sense of personal shame. –IOKIYAR –. Further, considering who his hero is, I expect him to receive a medal soon.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:18 pmmy opinion of brown is the same as everyone who’s commented, but doesn’t even he have the right to send out private messages without them being intercepted and published? or was this some sort of semi-public statement?
neither, i bet. i have no proof, but it smells of another “leaked” memo from the “highly-placed white house official” team of leakers, to give the repubbb constituency (which is rapidly dwindling) and the pundits some echo-chamber talking points.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:21 pmPoor baby! On, let’s all give him a group hug!
September 11th, 2005 at 6:24 pmGee, he got this position handed to him because of his connections and he thinks he has to actually perform duties? People died, others were homeless, without food and water or hygiene requirements, and were forced to live in overcrowded, hot, stinking, uncomfortable, surroundings with no communication. Does he think they might have been a little worn out? Just a wee bit frustrated, perhaps! What an ass!
He is a typical over paid Republican appointee who can’t do a job with any degree of efficiency, can’t think on his feet without having a committee meeting, and now he complains because he got some negative press!
He is a leech, a blood sucker, and a selfish ingrate.
He should have been fired – not just reassigned.
What appalls is the brazen lack of concern for those his position charged him to protect: all Americans. Even in his email he displays the dreadful malady that infects so much of this Administration: that all is public relations, and that it’s all about THEM; the handpicked, slobbering Bush loyalists ( contributors ) and nothing else. Time to crack a serious number of heads, no sympathy for them is permitted. As they have sown, so shall they reap.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:27 pmThe Bushites who were a bit negtive for the past two weeks are turning around to their old ways. They are trying to deflect all criticism now.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:30 pmWe must hold the administration accountable. They own the entire government. Everything is theirs. We must not relent. We must keep the press from letting this go. Brown was merely the most recent example of total ineptitude and mismanagement by Bushie. This is Dubya’s to deal with – and we must make him accountable.

September 11th, 2005 at 6:32 pmLet’s see:
Ike balanced the budget, accellerated our economic engine and got us out of Korea.
Gerry steered the nation back to an even keel (But never get on the same golf course with him!).
Ron drove the the last nail in the cold war.
Going back, you have Abe and Teddy.
Pretty bleak territory when you consider the rest of the GrOuP.

September 11th, 2005 at 6:42 pm#35: if the computer on which he typed his email was the property of any level of government, and knowing this kind of fellow it almost certainly was, or if the message wastranspotred over a government LAN, all hope of privacy is forsaken.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:45 pmOf course, Brown feels like a victim. After all, he did his job: “Brownie” delivered Florida for Bush in 2004.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:47 pmHe’s going to leave gov’t and get a job as a Joe Allbaugh crony making tons of money. His pathetic whining is ludicrous.
September 11th, 2005 at 6:51 pmBrown (an appropriate name) obviously had his head beside the liposuction probe he had up that horse’s ass. Look at me ma! I used to couldn’t spell harsez ass now I are one!

September 11th, 2005 at 6:55 pmI would love to see the stirrups they used for that feat! If you are not a woman do not understand the irony, ask your significant other.
I had heard it suggested by a knowledgeable source that a White House representative was listening in when National Hurricane Center Chief Max Mayfield gave that briefing to Brown and Chertoff before Katrina hit.
But according to this August 30th article in the St. Petersburg Times, on Sunday the 28th, Mayfield arranged a video conference call with President Bush himself at the Crawford Ranch during which he explained the hurricane’s force and destructive potential.
Perhaps this is common knowledge. But I hadn’t heard it before. And it would seem to leave little question that the president himself knew the critical information from Mayfield before Katrina even made landfall.
http://www.sptimes.com/2005/08/30/State/For_forecasting_chief.shtml
On Saturday night, Mayfield was so worried about Hurricane Katrina that he called the governors of Louisiana and Mississippi and the mayor of New Orleans. On Sunday, he even talked about the force of Katrina during a video conference call to President Bush at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.
“I just wanted to be able to go to sleep that night knowing that I did all I could do,” Mayfield said.

If Drownie eventually gets fired, the horse expert can always get a job in New Orlean’s rebuilt French Quarter, following the horsedrawn carriages around with an oversized pooper scooper.
September 11th, 2005 at 7:26 pmsynopsis: Yeah, accountability really sucks…..
September 11th, 2005 at 7:32 pmFinally the Media shows us reality, doesn’t put its special blinkers on because the Bush Boys demand it, and Mikey doesn’t like it. Finally we can see the pictures that are worth thousands of words, hear the anguish in the voices of the reporters who just expected a little rain, a little wind, and then a nice hot shower….Finally the 24/7 media proves that Michael Jackson and who’s her name the poor dead girl wherever…are just fillers for the real story. And Mikey thinks it’s unfair for us to know the truth.
And no, my mind is not numb, and yes, I can think for myself, and I am HORRIFIED….
September 11th, 2005 at 7:37 pmThe families who were stranded at the convention center and the Superdome without food, water or security had a lot more to worry about than negative press.
True, but they got it anyway.
September 11th, 2005 at 7:40 pmI don’t understand all the criticism of Ron Brown. Not a single arabian horse was lost in Katrina.
September 11th, 2005 at 7:51 pmIf his idea of “public service” is getting a Schedule C appointment because he was sh*t-canned from his last job and his college buddy took pity and offered him a paying gig with the feds, then, yeah, maybe his type should think twice about “public service.” F-ing sh*theel.
September 11th, 2005 at 8:01 pmCommenter 9: My suspicions are that one of his “friends” who received the email was as incredulous as most of us are over it and forwarded it onto the paper. I sure would have. I mean, unless the guy was absolutely delusional, he had to know that he was hopelessly underqualified for the job; and yet he took it. And then he screwed up a couple of other smaller emergencies and skated. So he had some outside confirmation that he was unqualified. And yet he stayed. Now he’s crying that it’s unfair that he’s being held accountable for staying at a job that he was and is unqualified for? He still has his life, his house and his family. I’d say that he was one of Katrina’s luckier victims.
September 11th, 2005 at 8:08 pmCan any one of them say, “I accept responsibility for my failures?”
September 11th, 2005 at 8:14 pmBitch slapping is, indeed, in order.
Things are so bad for Brownie that even the trolls aren’t here today to defend him!!!
September 11th, 2005 at 8:27 pmRemember he hasn’t been fired so he’ll still be with FEMA as long as Bush is President. Part of the “never admit to a mistake” mentality this psychotic administration perpetuates. Sadly enough I predict the Democrats will eventually let this go and not unify to keep this on the forefront. Hope I’m proved wrong, but I’ve seen this type of thing happen over and over again.
September 11th, 2005 at 8:31 pmBrown: I’m the Victim
And there was me believing that the ‘true victims’ in this whole sorry mess. Are the people who have died, and those who have been affected, by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Hurricane Katrina, has taken life, and has changed many people’s lives forever. Thousands of innocent victims have fallen pray to the ferocity of Katrina’s destructive force, and the devastation that has been left in her wake.
Far too many people, (far too many). Have lost their loved ones. Children have been left orphaned. And let’s not forget that when Katrina ripped through the Gulf Coast, and did her worst. Thousands of people’s houses and properties were picked up like matchsticks, and destroyed. All that can be seen in many places, is the foundations, on which the buildings once stood tall and proud. People have lost their homes their livelihoods and family members.
And Brownie, (who did one heck of a job). Now feels sorry for himself, and wants people to believe that he is the victim, in all of this.
Bush needed a sacrificial lamb, and Brownie was it. The Democrats and those of the American electorate, who still have the function of free will, and have come to a realisation that things aren’t going too well. And those who have had enough of El Presidente and the Republika party’s amateurism in running America.
Now more than ever before you need to stay on your game plan. Put your game faces’ on, and make your voice be heard, above the right-wing white noise. America needs to stand-up in togetherness. And make George W. Bush and his cronies, who are the real perpetrators, of what has now become a man-made disaster, accountable for their non-actions. The cretins need to pay for their lethargy, and their incompetence and what seemed reluctance, in dealing with both the pre planning that was so evidently needed. And the lack of any leadership in dealing with the post affects of the devastation left behind by Hurricane Katrina.
How many more people could have been saved, if somebody could of done their job/jobs properly?
September 11th, 2005 at 9:27 pmHe’s lucky he isn’t being charged with criminal negligence. Maybe if people were sent to prison for their incompetence, they’d think twice about taking a job they weren’t qualified for.
Yes, I know there will be unavoidable deaths in disasters, but how else to motivate people to do the right thing if they aren’t held accountable for their actions…or, in this case, their non-actions?
September 11th, 2005 at 9:54 pmThis is a common complaint of the incompetent.
The thing is, he doesn’t have competence anywhere in his background. One thing I’ve noticed about incompetent people is that they seem to be oblivious to even the concept of competence.
I once had someone work for me (not for very long) who was ABD for his PhD, and he really seemed to believe that he deserved special treatment because of his education. He went ballistic because I hired someone to do our soundtracks — “but I have a minor is music,” he whined, “and the guy you hired didn’t even graduate from college.”
Yes, but he couldn’t fucking do it, and the guy I hired could. He also seemed to think that long involved explanations of programming principles coupled with incomprehensible writing with lots of footnotes was somehow superior to simple, easy-to-follow documentation of code that worked.
And to this very day, he thinks that he was gotten for “political reasons” or that I was “jealous” because I didn’t have a PhD. Give me a break.
But it is the character of incompetent people — they don’t understand what it takes, and they don’t recognize it in others, either. “Brownie” probably really feels that he is justified feeling the victim.
Which is, in a nutshell, why he HAS to get fired from FEMA.
On Washington Week in Review, some of the people were saying “well, it’s time to stop piling on… he’s gone.” No, it’s time to stop piling on when he is REALLY gone, not just sent back to Washington to continue fucking up FEMA.

These repugnicans will never admit defeat, never admit any wrongdoing, never take the responsibility. They never have (except Nixon – who had the class to resign). Dumbya and Cheeney have done far worse than Nixon and done it more times, and yet, “they’re doing a heck’ava job”.
What I find really funny is how they react when you use their tactics and put them on the defensive. They usually self-destruct in just a few minutes. It is a hobby of mine.
September 11th, 2005 at 10:16 pmSorry to post again, but Martha Stewart did a little insider trading and did her time. (No one died because of it, and she didn’t make a (pardon the pun) killing)
She was used to set an example.
These clowns are killing, letting people get killed, completely wiping out peoples lives and homes and they are indeed making a killing.
Yet they do no time. I think people, the little people are getting pretty darn tired of this. 9/24 will be a great time for dumbya and cheeney to sit on the WH porch. Hell I will even spring for dumbya’s pretzels.
September 11th, 2005 at 10:29 pm#59 Phil, the trolls are all at church services today. They have a lot to atone for, and a lot to ask forgiveness for.

I’ve heard that Georgie Boy has a lot of trouble, when trying to watch TV and eat a pretzel at the same time.
He’s not too good at multi-tasking. It has been known that he has trouble walking and talking at the same time, without falling over.
And when he gets on a bike, nobody should get in his way.
But with his lack of coordination, his lack of communication skills and his inability to think for himself, (without the use of a speech writer). He still became the President of the United States of America. Go figure.
September 11th, 2005 at 10:57 pmThey made Martha Stuart serve time because these guy’s hate strong women. Most of them have done far worse many times over before they got into office. They brow beat any one not on their team, or like Brown, wine when caught and shift the blame. If I am his employer I want him to be removed to a draft horse farm in Montana, barn detail, with a spoon..Blessings
September 11th, 2005 at 11:27 pmChuck Berry once said: “Never let the same dog bite you twice.” I hope the country remembers this in the 2006 and 2008 elections. I WANT A PRINT OUT OF MY VOTE…
September 11th, 2005 at 11:27 pmThank you and goodnight.
You know, when it comes to giving first aid, there ARE Good Samaritan laws that protect you if you screw up (I’m just throwing this analogy out for Brownie). HOWEVER, you can be liable for the results of your actions if you do not follow accepted standards of care. “It is important that you do only as you are trained. Any other actions could result in the injury or illness becoming worse.” From this, it would seem Brownie gets off the hook….However….One part of the law states that “You may be guilty of negligence if: 1)You have a duty to act, 2)You breach that duty (by not acting or acting incorrectly, and 3)Your actions or inaction causes injury or damages (including such things as physical injury or pain).” I’m sure death would also apply there. The text in quotes is directly from the National Safety Council’s Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED manual. I think we COULD find Brownie legally negligent, although on a much larger scale???? I’m in Safety, so I think of these things. Just thought I’d mention it……

September 12th, 2005 at 12:20 amFYI…Martha Stewart’s a democrat, and contributed heavily to the Democratic party. Anyone smell a rat?
September 12th, 2005 at 12:42 amRemember Richard Clarke?
“Your country failed you. I failed you.”
The words of a man with a sense of honor.
September 12th, 2005 at 1:09 amThrough the years of my life I have seen a lot of democrat leaders who do nothing and a lot of republican leaders who do nothing. Both parties are guity of not doing the right thing at the right time for reasons that benefit their own party (money) and to hell with the average citizen. We, the average citizen, need to vote for another political party that is at least different than the ones that we have previously voted for. The same old crap was the same old crap a long time ago.
September 12th, 2005 at 1:34 amI do believe that most people do not vote because it takes time away from their private life, i.e. tv, radio, computer, cell phone, etc. Nobody pays attention to political debates or votes in the primaries.
This country will soon become a Communist country, with the government doing everything for us, before the average non-voting idiot will get pissed off. At that point it will be too late.
Now is the time to vote for another political party of your choice.
Both parties currently tell you that they will GIVE YOU everything you want. A govenment that gives you everything is called a communinst government.
Nobody has the big picture, it is all about me,me,me,me,me,me,me,me,me,me,me,
give me more, give me more, give me more.
rich people say give me more
poor people say give me more
average people say give me more
The rich government (all the rich people) says OK we will split your money (not ours) between you peons and all of you will stay as peons. The poor people will be raised in stature and the average people will be lowered in stature, but we rich people will still be rich and the rest of you will still be peons.
You get what you deserve if you don’t watch what is going on around you.
94ranger,
This country already has become a fascisct country – ‘communism’ is far from american shores, and the policies that these fascist call communistic are in fact anything but. Fascism is based on the idea that the wealthy and the corporate interests are in a better position to rule – one might think of it as a rebirth of aristocracy. We see this in the halliburtons and the bushes who seem to think they should run things by birthright, position and power.
While it’s true democrats are guilty of not doing enough, unlike the democrats the republicans are usually guilty of doing too much wrong. If you REALLY want america saved, vote democrat and FORCE your party leaders by petition or otherwise to run on the following platform.
1) Reintroduction of the fairness in media doctrine that Reagan dismantled, and that allows limbaugh and faux news to daily lie to the public.
2) Require the new electronic voting machines which do not provide printed copies of the vote for later validation and verification to be replaced, upgraded or removed.
3) Require public campaign financing – we know this works in other countries, and even in states like arizona (ironically a republican state).
Under the current system a 3rd party candidate wouldn’t have either a chance or the money to compete unless they resort to the same lousy tactic you hate. The call to ‘vote for another party’ does not work, and in fact it would serve only to weaken the only real hope this country has (the democrats) for having a democracy again. The fascists now rule by voting machine rigging, bribery, illegal campaing financing, rigging of the media and before they will give up their dictatorship I have no doubt they will use force. If they get through the doctrine of being able to detain american citizens without trial to the supreme court level – then you can be assured any political enemy of the reichwing will detain any opponent they disagree with eventually. People say it couldn’t happen here, but who thought torture, illegal wars through fraudulent evidence, kidnapping and detaining of american citizens without trials would happen 5 years ago? The fact is fascism can, and is here on our shores, and it illegally occupies our whitehouse through fraudulent means. We must use what’s left of our fragile democracy to save it. We must vote, dilligently and with clarity. We must be clear to our candidates that we expect them to solve these key issues immediately. And we must do so in enough numbers they will listen. And in particular we must hound the press (what’s left of it) and the congressmen to fix the voting machines first. And when it’s clear there was election fraud, we must protest loudly and daily until it is fixed. No more ‘just accept the fraudulant election for the good of the nation’, because it’s clear these guys do not want the good of the nation and the MUST be loudly resisted.
If you want to make a difference 94ranger, that’s how you do it. A 3rd party is just bunk, and your call for it is frankly a call for ‘me,me,me’ – which I know you hate! It must be ‘we,we,we’, and don’t buy into the propaganda of the reichwing that both parties are the same – they are not, neither is their agenda, and neither is the corruption. It’s like comparing a little league team – with the major leagues, they only look the same, they hardly compare…
September 12th, 2005 at 3:56 amif he thinks he’s a victim now, just wait until the karl rove smear machine decides he’s no longer useful and they cut him loose. he’ll really feel like a victim then!
September 12th, 2005 at 9:18 amOh, poor baby. Bill O’reilly blames Betty Castor for employing a terrorist and this guys gets all upset when bloggers point out that he is both clueless and a liar? Bill Clinton gets castigated for his hair cuts and his salute, Bush gets a pass on death and deficits when Greenspan was opposed to deficits 5 years ago…. Our media…..
September 12th, 2005 at 9:27 amBrownie a victim? Hell, he’s still got a job, benefits, home, etc. And the shrub told him “You’re doing a helluva job.” Of course that was before he was recalled to DC to manage the bigger picture. Gimme a break!
September 12th, 2005 at 10:28 amBuishlandia is dooing everything it can to cover up the fact that he was personnaly briefed by Mayfield before the hurricane struck.
They were all briefed by Mayfield, including shirtoff or whatever his name is.
September 12th, 2005 at 10:41 amThanks Ellis…
Let’s take his home, put his family on a roof with NO food or water for 3 days. Then and ONLY then will he be a victim! Otherwise, the comment is asinine!
He needs to be like Karl Rove…Sit in the background and hope no one notices him! But, I still haven’t forgotten!
Another weapon of MASS DISTRACTION!!!
September 12th, 2005 at 11:16 am[...] I believe this is called the “victim” mentality. From an email sent by Michael “FEMA’s MINE, bitches!” Brown: I don’t mind the negative press (well, actually, I do, but I try to ignore it) but it is really wearing out the family. No wonder people don’t go into public service. This country is devouring itself, the 24-hour news cycle is numbing our ability to think for ourselves. [...]
September 12th, 2005 at 11:43 amRyan, your # 75 post is excelent. I agree and alway’s have. A third party only drags needed votes away and dilutes the real issues. Thank you..Blessings
September 12th, 2005 at 1:04 pmWho’s he referring to: Fox News or CNN?
Better be both.
September 12th, 2005 at 2:33 pmI like your website; however, I can’t read half of it because your print is so small it is distorted. There are many people with poor vision who cannot read such small print. If you want more hits on your website, I suggest you increase the sizeor your print.
Thank you,

Did he say public service? What public service??
September 12th, 2005 at 4:58 pmBrownie is a totally incompetent hack who is totally confused because he was hired NOT to do his job. And he didn’t even know WHAT his job was. The FBI checked his and Kerik’s resume’s and backrounds?? PLEASE. They either passed along a really thorough reference checks to White House who chose to overlook them, or they are in step with past incompetent performances of nothing getting by their beaurocracy.
A financially stripped FEMA headed by this clueless idiot with a phantom background lets you clearly see where GOP is at. Brownie was a political hack, and perfect loser.
September 12th, 2005 at 6:35 pmKim,
I think he meant to say ‘public disservice’, but in the bush version of Texabonics he used a different term…
September 12th, 2005 at 6:37 pmIs it any surprise that Brownie’s email was sent from a Gov’t site? You’d think he would know better, but you’d be wrong, evidently. And the content is pretty embarrassing, too: I wonder if he would like to quote that passage on his resume for the next job he gets. Scaife will provide, Mikey, don’t worry.
September 12th, 2005 at 7:16 pmwhaaa!
His feelings are hurt. What about the victims of his incompetence? Wonder how they feel.
Jackass.
September 12th, 2005 at 9:04 pmI wouldn’t trust Brown to be the Commisioner of the Fire Ant Association. He’s an ineffectual, snivelling, whining pustule, and a purple flaming asshole of a man. And as for the conservatives who think Brown has a right to privacy: your Golden Boy Judge Roberts doesn’t agree with you.
September 13th, 2005 at 1:06 amIf you are really interested in election reform we need, in addition to a printout of one’s vote, we also need to limit campaign contributions to those who have a legal right to vote for the candidate. That would help to prevent the importation of monetary support from out of state for any candidates. It would also keep out foreign money in state and federal elections.
