I don’t think this was a matter of shame on Brown’s part — his comments have been nothing but smug hubris and arrogance, stemming from gross incompetence and baseless over-confidence. This is merely Rove’s way to save a bit of Bush’s ass – don’t fire him, Georgie, you value loyalty, remember? Let’s just reassign him, and when someone else takes over, when the public is distracted, then tell him to resign.
“ahh, back to the comfortable annonymity of the private sector. Dick has a nice, fat job waiting for me over at Haliburton. Who would want to be in public service anyway…especially after CNN knows my name…? A nice, stiff Margarita, please, barkeep…and one for my pal Dickie here.”
In spite of his overall incompetence, Mike Brown is the only Bush administration official who, in so many words, admitted he made a mistake when he said the federal government didn’t know about the Convention Center. That may have cost him his job. Bushies do not admit mistakes and Republicans are quick to abandon those who do.
But Brown didn’t accept any responsibility for the failures, he simply said he’s stepping out of the way. This is classic christian martyrdom language. I’m innocent, but I sacrifice myself in the name of good. It usually comes from creeps that don’t know anything about what real sacrifice, accountability or truthfulness is, and unfortunately is usually a better indication of some mental illness that prevents the person for accepting accountability in their lives…
He shouldn’t have resigned. He should’ve been fired. Same for Rumsfeld. For Bush though, I’d like to suggest a nice 1-way ticket to Club Guantanamo. He’s done more to damage this country than Saddam and Osama combined.
The problem is the guy who appointed him is even more incompetent – and in reality should have fired himself along time ago. But when you’re THAT incompetent, you don’t even know that you are…
Sweet, 1 down 85 more to go.
September 12th, 2005 at 2:51 pmWhoever appointed him should also resign.
Bushie, you’re doing a heckuva job!
September 12th, 2005 at 2:53 pmI just discovered this website via a friend. Thank you for opening my eyes to the horror that is our government.
September 12th, 2005 at 2:55 pmWe can only hope tthat he has loaded weapons at home.

September 12th, 2005 at 3:06 pmIf the man had nothing else, at least he had shame. In the end, he holds a substantial portion of the blame pie, but the president holds even more.
September 12th, 2005 at 3:07 pmAfter being thanked on national TV for what a great job he was doing, he resigns?
Of course the humiliation of being relieved of duties might have had something to do with it, but then again, I see the fine hand of kkkkarl rrrrrove.
Interesting to note that Brown resigned while the roberts hearsing were going on. A slap in the face to our beloved president me thinks.

Bush is still saying to not play the blame game. He finds it very hard to blame himself.
