  1. Rotwang says:

    LAST THROES/DESPERATION PING.

Obviously, the insurgency is losing steam.

  2. GWB says:

Thank God for the hurricane and Roberts to take everyone’s mind off another failure.

  3. RunningDogLackey says:

I’d say our job here is done. The bad guys have raised the white flag. Once the really GIANT car-bombs come out, you just KNOW that bag o’ tricks is running lean.

With every new, massive, staggering attack, these guys are looking lamer and lamer.

Good God. They should just let go of the ropes, hit the canvass and take the 10-count, already!

  4. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Why is this making you happy? Do you want America to lose?

  5. DickCheney'sLesbianDaughter says:

“Eleven bombings have rocked Baghdad, killing at least 110 people and wounding nearly 200 others, Aljazeera reports.”

Damn, are these guys ever on the run!

  6. Ron says:

It’s time to re-invade Viet Nam and lose again there, too.

Might as well make it a double whammy.

When you use an army to invade another country for whatever reasons, don’t expect good things to take place.

    That’s not how it works.

  7. Rotwang says:

    Hey, NeD!

I don’t want us to lose.

I just hope we take advantage of the instructive power of being forced to eat some shit.

  8. The Northeast Dilemma says:

You people are disgusting. You should be forced to go live in Iraq since you are getting such joy out of seeing America struggle. Nothing less than treason.

  9. Rotwang says:

    Ron:

    We need another Grenada, stat!

We’re just no good at beating any country larger than Long Island.

  10. Ron says:

Does NED need to be constantly remined that George Bush stated that there would be no casualties in Iraq?

It’s war, NED. War is hell. All is fair in love and war, NED.

Nobody plays fair in a war, NED. Nobody.

  11. Rotwang says:

    NeD:

You should be forced to inhabit the hideous, dust-filled, echoing void between your ears.

    Ooops. Never mind.

  12. Keith H. says:

Our government not holding this admin. accountable for the lies leading into this invasion is criminal.
We have to make the election process legit.

  13. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Rotwang – you should be forced to run track for Sadam’s Olympic team, asswipe. You people want America to lose and I find that vile.

I don’t see how you can say you support the troops, yet hope we lose the war. Your disdain for Bush is over the top.

  14. Impeach Bush says:

Well NED, if you’re such a patriot, why haven’t you enlisted in the army to go fight for BuschCo? Fill your Hummer with $3.00/gallon gas and drive over to enlist right now.

  15. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Ron – that’s great!!! I agree – who cares what you people think? You’re liars.

  16. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#15 – I don’t have a car. You don’t have to enlist to be a patriot. At a minimum, you should hope your country prevails in Iraq.

  17. Impeach Bush says:

NED, Despite what you may think, I hope we do win. I hoped we would have won by now, but nothing leads me to believe this administration has a clue how to win. This whole disaster has turned into corporate welfare for Halliburton et al. Buschco can’t even decide why we went in (WMD, links to al Qaeda, spreading democracy, …). We deserve a competent administration that is as good of this country.

  18. progressive and proud says:

What do we win in Iraq? Do we go back after they have a civil war? What if the Iraqi troops can’t handle it? Do we go back? What if Iraq reverts? Do we go back? Do we have a plan for the future? What if the Iraqi government ends up corrupt after a couple of years? Do we go back and oust the new guy?

  19. Rotwang says:

#17 — No problem…just as soon as “prevailing” and “being in the right” coincide somehow.

  20. Ron says:

The Mexican army is in San Antonio, so US troops in Iraq makes sense, dontcha think, NED? Join the Mexican army and go to San Antone, NED.

  21. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#20 – the debate over whether or not we go to Iraq is over. Remember, John Kerry and John Edwards supported it? Now, what do we do to win?

  22. Ben says:

In order to “lose,” one needs to have a clear definition of what it takes to succeed. It’s pretty obvious that Iraqi citizens killed in this latest attack are the real losers. I doubt anyone finds *that* to be funny.

  23. Rotwang says:

What do we win in Iraq?
    ____

    1. Dubbya’s manhood
    2. 14 permanent military bases
    3. An oil pipeline to Israel
    4. Lovely parting gifts
5 A “home” version of the PNAC/World Hegemony Game

  24. Rotwang says:

Now, what do we do to win?
    ____

Declare victory and move on to the Estate Tax.

  25. Marie says:

What constitutes a win in Iraq? Islamist fundamentalist governing where ancient religious laws prevail. Americans are fighting in Iraq so that women can again become property of men, disenfranchised and servile. Rebuilding infrastructure at a cost of untold billions of dollars — an infrastructure our bombs destroyed — paid to American contractors, with American workers, while Iraqis watch and wait. We have already lost. American credibility and integrity shot to hell. Enormous debts falling upon future generations. What is a win?

  26. Randy says:

    Hey NED,

Here is why the left wants us to lose in Iraq: In their minds, their biggest victory was to stop funding the Vietnam War and admit defeat. They want that to happen again here with Iraq as well. The big problem is that the circumstances are different. The Iraqi people support our troops being there. They are in the midst of forming a democratic government. If the Democratic Party truly wants us out of Iraq, why then, do they continue to vote for more funding? In addition, to broadcast a timeline as to a pullout would be a mistake. We will leave Iraq when the Iraqi army can defend itself from the insurgency that is coming in from other countries. President Bush has said the war on terror will take a long time. Obviously, he was right.

  27. Marie says:

Two hundred years ago, our patriots were the insurgents against the invading British.

  28. Professor MSM says:

#27 Your MSM propaganda retention is remarkable. I give you an A+. Well done.

  29. Ben says:

#27 – your statement: “We will leave Iraq when the Iraqi army can defend itself from the insurgency that is coming in from other countries.” lacks a logical foundation. A number of CIA reports released last year concluded that insurgence are entering Iraq because infidel (US) forces are there. With 14 permanent US military bases being built (and 4 mega bases in the works), all the indicators point to a permanent US presence in Iraq.

In regards to the Iraqi people “supporting” our troops being there, where are you getting your information from? Who’s polling the Iraqi people to find this out?

  30. Ron says:

You’re kidding, right? Viet Nam was lost not by defeat, but by ’search and avoid’ missions. The draftee army quit fighting. They fragged officers. In the end, it was massive mutiny. The US was forced to retreat and withdraw NOT by the enemy, but by its own hand.

58,000 dead US soldiers was enough.

You obviously weren’t alive during the Viet Nam war.

“Oct. 1967: At least 50,000 protesters march on Pentagon. For first time, opinion polls find more Americans are against the war than support it.”

  31. WaltTheMan says:

This is well and above one of the most complicated wars that we have ever managed to engage in.

We have three native groups who are trying to kill each other, traitors within their midst and what they perceive as an occupying force.

We also have Al Qaeda entering the struggle, perfectly willing to kill or maim anyone breathing.

They don’t care about body or vehicle armor as they will be greeted by a hundred virgins when they cross from this existence to the next. I have yet to figure out what the female volunteers expect. My spouse says she would prefer a box of chocolates over 100 cherry males.

In addition, this mixed force can get to the struggle on foot and the recruitment pool numbers in the millions – and that’s only the current mass of the willing. Every time someone loses a relative there is a new entrant.

My only question is: How do we win this cakewalk?

  32. Elvis says:

    NED,
In regards to your #13 post, I don’t support our troops. They are volunteer’s, and are willing pulling the trigger on innocent people (as well as the not so innocent), in a war fought over false pretenses. They can decide to just not follow orders. They would have to make a sacrifice to do so, but at least they would not be making others pay the ultimate sacrifice.

I’ve said this before to you a number of times, I’ll say it again: Political dissent is not treason. Political dissent is not “anti-American.” Political dissent is not “hating America.”

Your blind devotion to “The Republican Party” is frightening. You come across as someone who does not know how to think for yourself; someone who does not understand how to make informed decisions, and trust your opinions.

  33. Zwack says:

We lost when we first invaded Iraq. We lost again when we didn’t do what we told the Iraqis we would. We lost again when we tortured Iraqis, showing that the new regime is no better than the old Regime. We lose again every time the Administration says we’ve won.

The people of Iraq have lost. The people of America have lost. The Armed forces have lost. Cheney’s Cronies at Halliburton have won.

I don’t hate America, I don’t “want us to lose”, Every “gloating comment” I see above is just a parroting of what the Bush administration have said. If it wasn’t so sad it would be funny.

So, NED, why do you hate America? Why do you want our Armed forces destroyed in exchange for some Oil? Do you want democracy in the Middle East? Why didn’t we invade Saudi Arabia then?

    Z.

  34. cynical ex-hippie says:

NED loves to see our troops blown up.

  35. Spudge-Boy says:

Since I fought in Desert Storm, I can tell you how we could have won this “cake walk.” By sending the right amount of troops in the first place.

Better yet, we should have started a preemptive war against another country under a false pretence.

We should have had more international help and no the “coalition of the willing” does not count.

The Bush administration has completely f*cked up this whole “war.” The problem is that they don’t know anything about war, because none of them have ever been in one.

The way the Bush admin has handled this is like an NFL coach that only put 6 players on the field and then during the middle of the fourth quarter, when they are losing by 800 points, and they want to put 5 more guys in.

This is the same way they handled Katrina. Half assed. They don’t take anything but oil seriously.

  36. YeahRight says:

    NED,

Funny how your lot always come up with some lame excuses when told, ‘if you support the war, then enlist’.

If you had the courage of your convictions, you would enlist, get issued with substandard equipment, go to Iraq and drive around in substandard vehicles ‘helping’ Iraqis.

If you had the courage of your convictions and supported the troops, you would have been outside Crawford with a sign saying ‘Send our troops proper equipment Mr. President’.

However, I suspect that your convictions only go so far as expressing puerile partisan-motivated ‘outrage’ at your countrymen, who are exercising their democratic rights in questioning the government. Oh yes, and a bumper sticker on your ass (since you don’t have a car) saying ‘support our troops’.

I think you are a coward. Prove me wrong and enlist.

You also need to learn a very simple lesson, political dissent is not the same thing as disrespecting our troops. Wake up and smell the coffee.

  37. good vibes says:

nice post Elvis. I am with you. With so many threats around the world, our foreign policy cannot be offensive to each one. This is clearly a political war, engaged in no way for the benefit of the innocent Iraqi citizens. I’m sick and tired of hearing the same stale points from characters like Ned. Americans are also not benifitting from this war. Along with the obvious point that invading a country is morally wrong , I personally feel less safe now. The administration successfully played this war up by harassing the emotions of American citizens with the contant rising and lowering of the “terror alert”. Terrorist attacks have obviously INCREASED since this invasion. The audacity of this administration has sent volitile nations (Iran) into expediting nuclear armament and obviously urged more and more moderate islamics into terrorist activities. But yes Bush was reelected and his oil buddies/other corporate backers are drowning in money at the expense of future generations. So NED is right and we’re all smelling like roses.

  38. Brandi says:

  39. Sharon Cox says:

Good job by all against the war. Can we join and impeach the bunch now.?

  40. David B says:

I’m tired of Iraq already. Let’s bring home our people and let the Iraqis get on with their civil war. Its inevitable.

  41. Elvis says:

    good vibes,

The war that we will be starting soon with Iran will not truly be to rid them of their capacity to make nuclear weapons. The CIA has already stated that IRAN is 10 years away from being able to produce a nuclear warhead, and that is only if that is truly their intention, which it may or may not be.

The war’s intent, and please book mark this, will be this:

The government in Iran is planning to move to a euro-denominated international oil-trading mechanism by March 2006; which is specifically designed to compete with NYSE and IPE, giving the euro more then a strong foot hold in the international oil trading business.

If this takes place, given the debt of the United States, this move is a grave threat to the dollar being the dominating monetary instrument in the oil market, which then leads to every other market. Seeing as China and Saudi Arabia hold the majority of the debt of the Untied States in their hands, if either of them go the way of the euro, the dollar crashes and the US will be in a depression worse then any other in history.

Oil is the reason for the Iraq war. Oil is the reason we will invade Iran.

However, given the skepticism of this nation’s people in regards to its leaders, it will be a tough sell. That is unless the people are scared enough to do whatever they want you to.

  42. WaltTheMan says:

#42 – Do you mean to say that all these MBAs think about is money?

  43. Hank says:

YeahRight, #37. NED is a big supporter of the war and our beloved president, junior bush. I sure he/she has a “support or troops” car magnet, which about all the support the military can expect from the chickenhawks these days.

  44. Sharon Cox says:

Very good again Elvis #42. Did any one here listen to the reporter on NPR last Wed. night. Sorry I can’t remember his name. He was unbeded and talking about the Iraq citizens he spoke to. The majority of Iraq people want us to leave, now.It seems they believe as many of us do that trading and keeping a dictator on either side is just that. They feel they are worse off than they were before we invaded. Little electric, water and job’s. I never wanted us to go there, benlauden was suposto be the target, right.? Bush scraped the tiny look see in Afghanastan because his family has close ties to the royal family, walk in the garden, bandar bush ect; More death’s today. I grieve for them and our service persons. All at the behest of a evil, greedy, vendetta driven boy king….Blessings

  45. Rayvonne says:

Both of you guys have good points. But I am a troop here in Iraq, Do I want to be here?………Hell no. I don’t think any of us do. Besides civilian contractors making $100,000 dollars a year or more to do nothing but look good. I’m not here to bitch and moan. I would much rather helping my people back home suffering from the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Someone who actually wants our help. I get rocks thrown at me everywhere I go here and I give out teddy bears and candy to the citizens. I have been blown up three times and had to watch a friend lose his life due to a coward ass sniper. Truth is,for whatever reason we invaded Iraq, it’s way too late to fix. We have to deal with the threats that are present. And many people don’t want to be here. But to ask us to disobey orders is just plain insane. We are away from are families for a year, and some forever. When either of you guys feel any these growing pains, feel free to email me back. What disrespect for those who gave their lives to help a povern struck nation. They felt they we’re doing something right. Somethings we have control over and this “war” itself is not one of them. But we can do everything in our power to make positive outcome from it. To all who reads this post, please save us service men and women the disgust, of hearing two felow americans disrespect the troops, president and or nation. P.S. I’m a democrat if you’re wondering.

  46. Zwack says:

    #46…

Given that the Iraqi people feel that they would rather have Electricity again and similar little luxuries that they had vefore you invaded, I don’t think you SHOULD be there.

I am not going to suggest that you disobey orders.

I don’t care who you vote for.

I am not “disrespecting” the troops.

I am saddened by the loss of EVERY life in Iraq.

I an not “disrespecting” the Nation (by which I assume we both mean America)

I cannot stand the total flange-mangler that managed somehow to get himself elected as President. I think that he has buggered up everything that he has tried to do since he was elected, and I don’t see what “respecting him” has to do with any of the comments about Iraq. Given the amount of respect that he has shown for such unpatriotic things as the Constitution, Dissent, and the State of the Nation, I can’t see any reason why I should give him any more respect than that.

    Z. (who is NOT in a good mood)
