Katrina Speech: Bush Doesn’t Support Independent Panel

Bush said: “I also want to know all the facts about the government response to Hurricane Katrina.”

FACT: BUSH DOESN’T SUPPORT INDEPENDENT PANEL: Seventy percent of Americans support forming an independent commission, but Senate conservatives are working to create a panel that will reflect “their dominance in Congress.” Bush plans to “lead his own investigation of what went wrong.” [Times-Picayune, 9/14/05; Orlando Sun-Sentinel, 9/15/05; The Guardian, 9/7/05]

  1. Jon says:

In a nutshell, Bush’s recovery from Katrina is just what we’ve come to expect: almost unlimited –and unfunded – federal largesse, with no accountability for past mistakes or independent oversight for the future. Laissez les bons temps rouler, indeed.

    For the full story, see:

    “Bush’s Katrina Cop Out”

  2. indy says:

Well, there were independent recounts of ballots. How feasible is it to get a grassroots investigation?

Bits and pieces of “what really happened” have been coming out but they’re scattered across the internets. Should there be a central web site for these statements?

  3. Marie says:

Another redux of post 9/11. He didn’t want an investigation of that either. Independent investigations are scary for him — they might uncover the rot in his White House.
He claims to want the facts – yeah, well Joe Friday, he ain’t. The rest of that sentence is unspoken; I want to know all the facts, so I can get them all covered up, redacted, lost, or classified.

  4. kjlovell says:

Dumbya doing an ivestigation is like Maxwell Smart doing it.

    Missed it by that much!

I saw how the senators voted on the independent investigation. Buzzflash has the link.

All the Democrats voted yea, except for the one that didn’t vote.

And, as you would expect ALL the repugs voted no, except the repugnican from LA that didn’t vote.

    No suprises there.

Buzzflash also has a link to The New York Times article:

NYT’s Brooks revealed that “from Day One,” the Bush White House “decided our public relations is not going to be honest” — why hasn’t he written about this?

It is a good read with links.

Also, Buzzflash has links to interviews of 2 survivors that said they heard a big boom after the hurricane had passed, and afterward St. Bernard’s Parrish began to flood. The head of St. Bernard’s Parrish gave an interview and also said he heard the big boom after the hurricane.

Dumbya doesn’t want an ivestigation into 9/11 (’cause his brother Marvin’s company was in the twin towers 9/10 installing “security devices”. When Marvin’s nanny (not his, his childrens) threatend him about coming forward, she was crushed by her car in early October 2001. Google Bertha Champagne.

    Impeach the moron at votetoimpeach.org

  6. kjlovell says:

Susan, have you seen the site “The Bushy Knoll”?

I am sure some of it may be natural deaths, but given dumbya’s comments about being in favor of a 95% world population decrease it warrants a little attention.

Also, have you any information on the Bilderbergers?

If you do, could you please share with me?

  7. kjlovell says:

Sorry to post in parts, but re #6, I also found a very near copy of the bushy knoll that was titled “Bushs Bodies”.

Factor in the names in the news (Rove, Roberts, Brown etc.) were popping up in the Nixon scandal, Iran Contra, 2000 & 2004 election scandals, I think most of this is political thank yous.

Any info on why Kinda Sleezy Rice (former board member of chevron) made the cut, aside from the obvious.

  8. EasyRider says:

It is not that he does not support an independent inverstigation panel.

Bush is scared of an independent investigation panel.

  9. EasyRider says:

A Grand Jury Indictment for Bush sounds better than asking for impeachment. GOP will not impeach Bush.

  10. kjlovell says:

Dumbya had to have generators brought in for the puppet show last night. After the puppet show, lights went out….really out. Seems they neede the generators more than the N.O. people.

I also noticed that to keep things “tidy” they secured a large area and ran off all those pesky people wanting real answers.

Dumbya and his cronies even kept the press at bay by making them stay in the cars and vans.

Sounds like being the most hated man on the planet is finally getting to him.

His so called speech was nothing more than cut and paste from former war speeches. They give so little thought to anything but profits and think no one will notice.

I refuse to listen to the smirking chimp, so I just read transcripts.

Seems the winds from the hurricane are threatening their house of cards. Good to see them on the ropes. To quote the worlds only living heart donor cheeney, dumbyas so called administration is “in it’s last throes”.

  11. Ryan Neat says:

Dictators never want independent anything. Bush even said on camera that he would prefer a dictatorship to a democracy as long as he were the dictator. GREAT values for the head of the democracy, and clearly it demonstrates he merely gives lip service to the values of democratic government. I would never prefer a dictatorship, even if I were the dictator, but then I’m an authentic american that actually believes in constitution and the values of the founding father. This guy is clearly a stupid fascist on a power trip, trying to compensate for some sense of self worthlessness…

Considering he’s a graduate of ‘worthy creations’ an ex-gay christian counseling groups that turn gay folks into repressed crazy people, I bet I know why he’s a crazy freak at this stage in his life…

  12. confused says:

hi i read these posts a lot and agree with some, disagree with others, but bush stinks the entire government needs to be overhauled!

i have a question for you folks, how do we fight the Patriot Act? just today i got fussed at because i didnt want to provide the post office with a physical address (im contantly in travel status, i actually dont have a physical address. i dont feel its anybodys business where i stay at any particular time!! can we simply somehow say we oppose the Patriot Act and those businesses we do business with have to waive it or something?

#6 Theerrrre are conspiracy issues all around you…the black helipcopters know all!!! You sound like the nut cases who tried to link the Big Dog to the Mena airport and “Doing drugs with Don Tyson”.

  14. kjlovell says:

#14, I never knew he was a graduate of ‘worthy creations’….I thought I knew everything about that asshole.

  15. kjlovell says:

    Did a troll say something?

    pity

  16. CAT says:

#15 Mr. confused – True, your rights to privacy and
freedom of movement have been violated. You need
    legal advice.

You live in a quzi police state now inwhich the powers
to be are ready to lower the hammer and turn the
switch to make America a totallarian police state
inwhich all your liberities will be supressed.

I suggest you contact a civil liberities attorney,
one that work for free and is interested in Patriot
Act violations. Find out what grounds you have to
stand on and follow their lead.

If you get the chance, sue the heck out of them.

  17. CAT says:

Sorry, that’s a “totalitarian” police state

  18. Ryan Neat says:

“#14, I never knew he was a graduate of ‘worthy creations’….I thought I knew everything about that asshole.”

How do you think he knew about the Galvaston ’splash days’, which is their local gay pride parade? ;)

  19. mighty aphrodite says:

Have you noticed without the trolls this site is a big snooze?

  20. kjlovell says:

#22, I didn’t know it either. I checked it out, and it is indeed true. That would explain so much about why he is mad at the world, and acts as though he feels insecure. (I am sure he is insecure)

He probably had someone else screw his wife to get her pregnant.

Knowing this it seems my comment on the other way they planned to dress him for the speech was drag might have been spot on!

  21. kjlovell says:

I didn’t know what “splash days” were. I guess it wasn’t in my handbook and agenda when they passed them out to us in class.

I heard the rumors about him way back and thought it was just for news. I said, gee I hope he isn’t gay, as we are supposed to be good looking, well spoken and a delight to be around. Besides, I don’t think he could get a date with anyone but KKKarl. (ick, that is sooo gross)

  22. Ryan Neat says:

“Have you noticed without the trolls this site is a big snooze?”

Actually the trolls like you don’t provide entertainment, to anyone but psychopaths like you. You provide a clear indication of the insanity and general cluelessness of the rightwing however…

  23. confused says:

hey CAT thank you for replying; i will contact the ACLU first thing in the morning!

  24. Ryan Neat says:

    CAT,

Considering that the CIA founded alqueda, I find it hard to believe they would infiltrate it with ’some of their own’. That premise would show utter incompetence of a level that should have meant the dismantling of the organization. In this case, I don’t believe there were incompetent – but merely unpatriotic…

  25. Ryan Neat says:

    CAT,

Oh, and Buckey Fuller called them “CapitalismsInvisibleArmy” for a reason…

  26. kjlovell says:

google “most hated man in the world” and hit I’m feeling lucky.

    interesting and a good read.

  27. mighty aphrodite says:

Notwithstanding Ryan opinion – WITHOUT trolls this is what this site would look like:
    1.) WE HATE GEORGE BUSH!!
    2.) IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH YESTERDAY!!!!
3.) WE RICH LIBS FEEL VEEERRRRYY GUILTY!!
4.) WE POOR LIBS ARE VICTIMS/VOLUNTEERS!!!!!
5.) IF WE BELIEVED IN GOD, KARL ROVE WOULD BE SATAN INCARNATE!!!
6.) GEORGE BUSH’S ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES CAUSED HURRICANE KATRINA!!!
7.) BUSHCO & REPUGS ENGINEERED THE HURRICANE TO LINE THE POCKETS OF THE OIL COMPANIES AND HALLIBURTON!!

And after you’d read all THAT two or three times, who would stick around?? I know there would be ten or twelve of you if you include the multi – degreed economist/seminarian, Ryan Peat.

  28. Ryan Neat says:

    MightyBagOfPropagandaCrap,

You (like all NeoCon, Zionist republicans) think too highly of yourself. You are neither entertaining nor factual. You post nonsense, your humor isn’t clever it’s bitchy.

” know there would be ten or twelve of you if you include the multi – degreed economist/seminarian,”

Actually I have a degree in economics, I didn’t degree in seminary – I realized that I liked comparitive religions more than a specific one. Eventually I realized that Hinduism was not only better structured than other religions, but that it’s the only one who’s creation myth actually matches physics and the big bang. If they got that one right, then it was pretty clear they were sharper than the average jew/christian or muslim. The religion has tremendous other differences as well, including the concept that all life is one life, and that as much as I know you’re an ignorant twit, I also know that we share a common creation and even a common conscious. This gives me compassion and even pity for you – but it also requires that I be truthful and tell you when you’re a self absorbed ignorant bitch (I’m sure that I’m not the first person to use those words to describe you – maybe even your husband has used them?).

Anyway, the site without you is:

    Issue-
    Followup-
    References-
    Details-
    Ranting-
    Discussion about solutions-

See the thing you wish to shut down the most is the details and the solutions, because as a CONservative you preserving your delusional preconceptions matters first and foremost – and you convince yourself that your lame humor gives you the excuse to derail getting that useful information who could use it (especially yourself).

And the fact that you compusively repost the same lies says to me that not only do you not wish to learn, but that like most lunatics of the right you’re compusively driven to disrupt the noble efforts of others because your own subconscious feels so guilty about your selfish and petty self interests that drive you…

  29. Samuel B. says:

Bush strong>ONLY Cares About The Rich People. He Doesn’t Care About Those Lost In Hurricane Katrina. He told the rescue teams to stop rescuing people and start helping thoses who were rescued. Should we really trust the loser. NO! I DON’T THINK SO! INPEACH BUSH NOW! Please impeach George Bush and all of your wildest dreams will come true…

    Thankyou for reading this article.
