Now who do republicans believe are the ‘dogs’? What sleazy bastards these guys are!

  2. Marie says:

Is that photo for real? If it is – it makes me sick.

  3. Jennty says:

Come on.. don’t be raggin on the dogs. I do notice they are all purebreds though. ;)

  4. progressive and proud says:

This is tough for me – I do so love doggies. Of course, it looks like there could be a little room for maybe one survivor. Just one little one.

  5. Spudge-Boy says:

It is interesting that you don’t see any muts on that bus. There aren’t any half-breeds in the lot of ‘em.

You don’t think an entire bus was used to rescue rich folks dogs do you?

These people wouldn’t be sick enough to do that are they?

    Yes, they are.

“Come on folks. Get in the truck. What’s that? No, there aren’t any buses available. Get on the fvcking truck already. Ungrateful ‘refugees.’ Sheesh”

  6. Chuckie says:

Please, to try and turn this into a right vs. left issue is absurd.

This is people with a lot of money that place more value on a dog’s life than on a human’s. Groups like the Humane Society and PeTA. They will donate millions to save Fido but wouldn’t give a dying man a glass of water.

Ryan, to say that the Repbulicans are flying the dogs out is absurd and agian proves your lack of common sense or reality.

  7. S.D. says:

Once again, a picture is worth a thousand words.

  8. geoduck says:

Actually this was paid for by a private citizen who was trying to help out lost and abandoned animals. It was some rich dude from Texas. Pickins? Something like that.

A Republican Schill no doubt, eh Ryan?

  11. Citizen80203 says:

It gets worse folks. Remember those “yellow school busses” we heard the skels cry soooo much about? Well, turns out that Blanco did indeed use them to evacuate people but there were not enough drivers, then FEMA said not to use the “yellow school busses” because of no air conditioning. Read it for yourselves:

  12. Ryan Neat says:

    Geoduck,

And the fact that this man would fly dogs out of new orleans when there are thousands of people still stuck in the reliant theater – that’s just perverse!

    Chuckie,

Who cares if the republicans are paying for it – the fact that they would allow the flight and this to occur without saying, no this is unacceptable, people take priorities is an endorsement of the action. Boone pickens is a republican activist – and the fact he would leave people in squalor while paying for dogs to be airlifted is a great example of ‘republican values’. You guys have your values all screwed up, and idiots like you Chuckie the potato head are responsible for letting them get away with it. Shame on you and your party!

  13. Wallace says:

And exactly how many people did you fly out, Ryan?

  14. Chuckie says:

“Who cares if the republicans are paying for it – the fact that they would allow the flight and this to occur without saying, no this is unacceptable, people take priorities is an endorsement of the action. Actually, I couldn’t agree with you more in regards to the fact that humans should take precedence over dogs. It should have been a plane full of people riding that Airbus out of there.

My argument with you is that the plane is not full of dogs because the financer was Republican. It is full of dogs because he is a schmuck of a human being with more money than brains.

Last thing. I have yet to see you make a post that doesn’t call someone names, denigrate or belittle your target. Not one. How old are you?

  15. wisedup says:

must be all republican dogs, no black dogs please.
    Dogs over people…shame

  16. Chuckie says:

Well, turns out that Blanco did indeed use them to evacuate people but there were not enough drivers, then FEMA said not to use the “yellow school busses” because of no air conditioning. Read it for yourselves:”

Granted, this is horrific reasoning. Once again though, it has nothing to do with Brown being conservative but everything to do with him being a retard.

Upon reading the story though one still has to ask why Blanco/Nagin waited until the day off or day after the storm to suggest the use of school busses? They should have been put into use 48 hours prior to Katrina coming ashore. To say they didn’t have enough drivers is almost as lame as not using them because they are not air conditioned…

Cindy Sheehan arrested for breaking the law here in NYC!! I love it – she is so deserves it. Figures, the MSM has dropped her since she is such a nutjob liar.

  19. Ryan Neat says:

    Chuckie,

Don’t you know anything? Mr. Maestri the Jefferson Parish emergency manager has already publically stated that buses were used to ferry people out of the city before the storm, but those buses were returned and secured before the storm was over. It’s clear you’re only watching fox news – get a grip!

  20. Ryan Neat says:

“Cindy Sheehan arrested for breaking the law here in NYC!! I love it – she is so deserves it. Figures, the MSM has dropped her since she is such a nutjob liar.”

A nutjob liar? Ned the incompetent is projecting his own inadequacies once again on the honest citizenry… Is this like when you claimed Kerry was a slanderer because he gave honest testimony to the confessions of others? Aren’t you the same guy who’s more interested in the security of Israel than that of america? When did you say you’re moving to israel?

  21. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Ryan – your girlfriend needs you. Better go get her.

Poor Cindy. She finally gets what she deserves. She got mixed up with the wrong crowd. You’re all now exposed as the anti-American scum that you really are.

THANKS. Call Hillary and see if she’ll come to the rescue – LOL!!

  22. L-A Marcotty says:

So, are you all saying that all the relief efforts should be directed at humans, and only after they are all taken care of should the animals be considered? And by the way, the dogs on that plane are being taken, at private expense, to shelters and foster homes in California. Do you know what T. Boone Pickens did with his plane after that one trip? I sure don’t. Perhaps he used it to make 10 trips for humans.

Also, for your information, those animals had to be moved out of the temporary shelters that had been set up for them because the shelters were drastically overcrowded and yet thousands more animals were being rescued and brought in. Do you remember what happens to animals who are in overcrowded shelters? That’s right, they’re killed. Even though those people had to ride in a truck, no one was going to put them down because their shelter became overcrowded.

Did you see the pictures on the news of the dogs and cats still trapped on the roofs and in the trees and on the floating debris in the devastated areas? Many are still there, slowly dying of dehydration and hunger. It’s only by transporting animals to shelters and homes willing and able to foster them – volunteers – that they can be saved.

Each of those animals is or was loved by some person or family, most of whom were heartbroken at being forced to leave their pet behind. Many people stayed in their homes rather than leave their pets. I know that I can take care of myself but my pets cannot – I’d rather they get a seat on a plane to a sure rescue while I take a truck to an unknown destination where animals may or may not be permitted.

Everyone has the right to choose their own priorities and expend their resources where they feel it is right. For some, saving the truly innocent, who are even less able to save themselves than poor humans, is where their hearts lie. Those people in the truck may be riding in a truck rather than a jet, but as humans, they are entitled to as much assistance from the various governments we have (such as they are) as they can get. Animals have no such entitlement – there is no state or federal funding for them.

What is truly sad is that the private efforts of those who care about animals were so much better organized, funded and motivated than the relief efforts for humans. It’s not that relief for humans wasn’t being offered – it wasn’t permitted into the disaster areas and offers from other countries were being ignored.

Don’t blame people who can’t stand to see an animal suffer for the incompetence and corruption of our government and agencies. Don’t blame people who believe that humans are only one species among many, all essential to the well-being of the planet, for attitude of the Bush administration epitomized by Barbara Bush’s “let them eat cake” remarks about the evacuees at the Houston Astrodome. I’ve offered my home on hurricanehousing.org – have you? I gave my money, time and effort to animal rescue because a lot more resources are going to the humans, or are supposed to be, anyway. Who are you to tell me I’m wrong?

  23. Dartanyon says:

Is ThinkProgress suggesting the dogs left behind should’ve been left to die? That a busload of rescued pets is inappropriate?

If so, then ThinkProgress can cheer the fact that according to the Lousianna ASPCA, thousands of dogs died in the the aftermath of the hurricane.

  24. animal lover says:

Shame of Thinkprogress for playing with the facts. I’m surprised that you would play fast and loose with the F word (FACTS). Not a shill for Bush, but let’s see accurate commentary with accurate facts – otherwise Thinkprogress becomes just the same as the Rove Whitehouse. Notice the date – September 11, not September 1.

    “Sept. 11, 2005, 6:37PM
Pickens charters jet, flies 80 dogs out of Louisiana
    Associated Press

SAN FRANCISCO — The first major airlift of canine refugees from the hurricane battered Gulf Coast headed out of Louisiana today with about 80 dogs bound for new temporary homes in California.

The Continental Airlines flight from Baton Rouge, La., was chartered for about $50,000 by Texas oil tycoon Boone Pickens and his wife, Madeleine, in a movement dubbed by organizers as “Operation Pet Lift.”

  25. Ryan Neat says:

animal lover, thousands of evacuees are still stuck in the regency center in new orleans – if you think 80 dogs airlifted by a rich republican take priority over those people, you have SEVERLY screwed up priorities.

  26. Ryan Neat says:

“Poor Cindy. She finally gets what she deserves. She got mixed up with the wrong crowd. You’re all now exposed as the anti-American scum that you really are.”

The jewish man who’s more interested in the safety of Israel, and who’s part of the political party that founded AlQueda calls us anti-american. Classic fascism, lie and reverse the truth to confuse the public – as you undermine the system to work for your cronies. You’re a sad and pathetic piece of work.

  27. progressive and proud says:

Again with the strange LOLs and !!!!s – truly strange behavior on NeD’s part. He sure laughs alot. Not the sign of a sane individual. Hell, nobody in NYC laughs that much.

With respect to Cindy’s arrest – c’mon dingbats, we all know getting arrested, especially in NYC, will only bring more into her camp and give her martrydom.

  28. Ryan Neat says:

How long have you been an israeli citizen NED? How many of your relatives live there?

  29. L-A Marcotty says:

Sorry, I forgot one thing above – there are some truly extreme “animal rights” activists who value animal “choice” (as if there were such a thing) over animal and human life, for that matter. They are a tiny minority. Most people who do animal rescue don’t value animal lives over human lives – but they value animals and see them as necessary to human life. Gandhi said “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated,” and you can be damn sure that if a nation’s animals are badly treated, so are its less fortunate humans.

  30. Ryan Neat says:

    Progressive,

The only martyrs NED cares about are those in Israel, the rest of the dead americans are just cannon fodder to protect them…

  31. The Northeast Dilemma says:

P & P – please give her martydom. This woman is priceless. Give her a spot in Michael Moore’s next movie. She’ll put Lila Lipscum to shame.

  32. progressive and proud says:

Dartanyon, I know, it’s sad. I do consider these animals members of someone’s family – maybe the only family left. I really have intense feelings about the animals left behind. They do depend on people to live and they are so scared.

It may not be PC, but I saw directly what is happening and I was shocked by the loathsome treatment of both animals and people. Shame all around.

  33. duh says:

NED what is your problem? The womans kid is DEAD for NOTHING? Go to the nearest recruiting station and volunteer otherwise stfu.

  34. progressive and proud says:

    NeD, you know better.

  35. Dartanyon says:

    progressive and proud,

Reports said the reason many didn’t evacuate was the shelter policy said “No Pets.” I wouldn’t have abandoned my 9 year old lab either — these are not wild dogs, but highly domesticated dogs that are totally dependant on us for their survival.

I think FEMA, along with all 50 states need to examine this stupid “No Pets” policy for a natural disaster and shelter.

  36. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#33 – she is denigrating his name by doing what she’s doing. Notice the MSM is finished with her because people are turned off by the obvious exploitation.

  37. Spudge-Boy says:

No NeD, the MSM found something more sensational than Cindy. It is called the largest national disaster our country has ever faced.

  38. Chuckie says:

The problem with Cindy is that she has gone from wanting to talk about her dead son to wanting to talk about everything that she has little knowledge of, including the withdrawl of troops from “occupied” New Orleans.

The lady has gone off the deep end and has been used like a 2 dollar whore at a republican convention by the left. (Ryan, this last reference was just for you ;-) )

  39. progressive and proud says:

I would not have left without my Oliver either. He is a mutt but needed me. A really good point that L-A made was that there should be such caring for people from our government.

I think the fact is that our government should care about us as much as Pickens cares about dogs. I think that brings us all onto the same page. We all love our pets and we all love our neighbors – what kind of sick society do have that we must choose?

I know, I know NeD you hate Cindy. Sheeesh

  40. duh says:

She is not, that is your opinion based on the fact that you got your lips firmly planted on Bush’s ass.
If you really believed it then – got to Iraq. Then your opnion carries more weight. Her son died for a lie and she is calling the liars on it. That is my opinion, and it is shared by millions of ust that saw the war for the sham it was. Case in point people like you and the fact that no Bush clan is in Iraq now. I call bulls**t on it – no noble cause.
As for the dogs – if some rich dude wants to spend his money on it – it is his perogative. Not what I would have done that, one human life is worth more than a million dogs as far as I am concerned. Also shame but
golden retrievers barely live a dozen years at the most.

  41. Nancy says:

Oh, c’mon. These are 2 unrelated photos in the span of several weeks. Dogs on an airplane does not imply that people were denied the same opportunitity to fly. I’m surprised at this blog for such a cheap trick.

  42. Chuckie says:

#35, yeah let’s add a couple thousand dogs to the equation. Who feeds them? Who cleans up after them?

Plus, my pets are tropical fish. Who makes sure I have fresh water, an aquarium and electricty to keep them alive at the FEMA shelter? Or does your view of pets become a narrow dogs & cats?

  43. Ryan Neat says:

“The problem with Cindy is that she has gone from wanting to talk about her dead son to wanting to talk about everything that she has little knowledge of”:Chuckie

    She’s taking clues from you…

  44. progressive and proud says:

#36 you already said that. One sign of dementia is constantly repeating oneself; much like the Alzheimer’s patients I used to treat.

  45. Ryan Neat says:

    Nancy,

Actually there are thousands of people who have yet to be moved out of shelters in NewOrleans and even Texas. With transportation many of those would have opportunities elsewhere. So yes these ARE related, and in fact demonstrate the priorities of yet another republican activist to care for anything other than the people who need it first…

  46. duh says:

Cindy may have lost her mind, losing your precious child does that to you. But I would not attack her for it. Her question what noble cause has yet to be answered by anyone including out favorite trolls on this site. Who have so much to say about a war they support but will not go fight. Typical right wing hypocrites.

  47. Ryan Neat says:

“#33 – she is denigrating his name by doing what she’s doing. Notice the MSM is finished with her because people are turned off by the obvious exploitation.”

You are denegrating his name NED by not recognizing his life was lost in vain, based on a lie. The lack of accountability you show is truly a republican trait – you’re definitely a member of the right party.

  48. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Spudge Boy – and it’s all Bush’s fault. Bush blew up the levees, killed Chief Renny, stole the election – we know Spudge!!!

  49. Ryan Neat says:

    Progressive,

Ned hates anyone that points out he’s an idiot who keeps picking the loser side. But then again as a born loser, how could he ever do otherwise…

  50. Spudge-Boy says:

I’ve never said anything like that you fvcking moron. You can’t even argue correctly. post a quote from me, for you cannot put stupid ass comments in my mouth jerk off.

Besides, Bush isn’t smart enough to pull off any of the high crimes that have been perpitrated against this country.

  51. Clyde the Ripper says:

Check out NED’s phone call record pad that he got from Rover Boy. Ned is on the right wing.

  52. Ryan Neat says:

    NED,

Bush didn’t have to steal the election, you and your buddies in the GOP NeoCons did it for him to protect israel – didn’t you know? Sure you did…

When again did you get your israeli citizenship?

  53. e_five says:

“Don’t worry, black folks. We’ll be back in a truck to get you after the white folks’ dogs are flown to safety.”

The second photo was taken on Sept. 2, just a few hours before Kanye West said, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” an exact phrase which comes up with 424,000 matches on Google.

  54. Joel says:

Why do you people hate dogs? Like there isn’t hundreds of thousands of tree-hugging “progressive” liberal losers in this country that would think of saving the dogs first.

  55. I-RIGHT-I says:

“George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” an exact phrase which comes up with 424,000 matches on Google

    comment by e5

Let’s be honest. George Bush cares about the votes because he’s getting them, but really, nobody else does. You get the same number of hits when you google “black crime”. While we’re being honest, just why should we care about 12.4% of the population that commits over 50% of violent crime? Why should we care about Black folk who has been the recipient of every kind of unconstitutional law favorable to their “condition”, the better part of six trillion dollars spent on bringing them into the mainstream. And after all that, why should we care about people you don’t say “thank you” and complain, agitate and riot because we’ve not done more? I say fuck ‘em, but that’s just me. I’ve noticed that the rest of the country (75% white and mostly Christian) has kicked in millions of their own money, their own time and their own tears to once again help these people. This is a fact and believe it or not, there are some poor Black folk that have actually been touched and appreciate what’s been done just because they are Americans.

But then there are the ratbastardcommiemofo’s like you people who can only manage to use every imaginable slime against our President and the very people who are doing all the work. Not one of you cocksuckers has donated a dime let alone shed a tear. But I’ve read the end of the book and I know your end. It makes me feel kinda good.

  56. Ryan Neat says:

    Joel,

    Don’t be a twit! Oh wait, you’re a republican, you can’t help yourself…

  57. Wallace says:

Ryan? Talk’s cheap. You dodged my question. Put up or shut up.

  58. progressive and proud says:

My guess? Ryan doesn’t have a plane and endless sums of money for the transportation of either humans or animals. Rather stupid question – don’t you think? My guess? If Ryan had a plane, he would have sold it to raise money to finally get these dirtbags out of office. Seeing as though money can get you an election – don’t you think?

  59. OxyConservative says:

I guess we could gather some red-state rednecks to give those dogs (former pets, loved ones) some “Compassionate Conservatism”.
Watch this video of some ignorant rednecks driving around in their swamp buggy killing family pets.

  60. progressive and proud says:

For the love of all that is good – L-A, Dartanyon, don’t watch this. Please don’t. I may not be able to sleep tonight.

  61. Marie says:

I don’t get it. A woman whose son was killed in the war which she opposes is demonized by the likes of NED.
What’s the point? If NED had kids, NED couldn’t be so cold-hearted and ugly. Free speech still lives in America. Any group can have their gatherings or marches down city streets, they only need a permit. It’s not illegal. (What is unethical, however, is infiltration of the audience by purposeful rabble-rousers with an eye to provoking someone to break the law.) If one doesn’t like the demonstration or the parade or whatever, then don’t go, don’t give it attention. That’s it.
Some of these Reich-wingers go nutso with a hair-trigger reaction. If they don’t like American freedom then they should go move somewhere else, like maybe Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Darfur, or any one of dozens of places around the world. So knock it off!

  62. semperfly says:

At least from the photo of the airplane most of the passengers appear to be yellow dogs…

Jesus is dead, and you’re stupid. I’d say it’s more important for us to care through our actions.

When your side was funding AlQueda, Soros was actually educating communist countries on the merits of democracy. If you don’t know anything about the topic – haven’t you learned yet to shut your trap you stupid idiot? But you’ve made it clear you don’t know ANYTHING about anything you talk about – including religion.

Soros has been active as a philanthropist since 1979, when he began providing funds to help black students attend the University of Cape Town in apartheid South Africa. Soros’ philanthropic funding in Eastern Europe mostly occurs through the Open Society Institute and national Soros Foundations, which sometimes go under other names, e.g. the Stefan Batory Foundation in Poland. He also pledged an endowment of $250 million to the Central European University (CEU).

As for having sex with little boys, I’ll defer to your expertise MrWrong – you seem to have the most intimate knowledge and interests here, just like you seem to be the most fascinated with homosexuality… It’s really sad to see what a stupid confused little worm you are…

  91. Ryan Neat says:

You have no biblical foundation for your bigotry. Homosexuality is normal and natural in nature. A study recently was completed in the UK showed that 8% of all sheep are gay. To call it ‘unnatural’ is like saying the earth is flat – it’s based on religious lunacy – just like you…

As for biblical foundations, you should really read the original greek. The new testament prohibitions are all against male prostitution, straight men having gay sex when they prefer women and pedophilia (your specialty). There are no specific statements related to two men in loving conveyed in the 4 gospels. Not to mention all of the gnostic texts that augustine chose to remove – that say even more interesting things on the topic…

So the very basis of your irrational hatred stems entirely from a bigotted and ignorant basis. You don’t even know your own religion well enough to know that you’re once again wrong on the subject…

Sheep are pretty stupid, mindless animals. To say that it’s OK for humans to practice homosexuality just because sheep do it only lowers yourself to the intellectual level of a ewe. Many animals also eat their young, does this make it OK for humans to do it too? How about kill a rival? How about sniffing your buddie’s butt to say hi? To say that something is OK because animals do it is assinine!

Homosexuality is an evolutionary dead end. Why would nature promote it and ecourage it? Only we humans do that. To add, with today’s fertility technology, a same sex couple can “reproduce” thereby passing on their genes. In the past that has not been the case. Don’t be surprised to see an exponential increase in the gay population over the next few generations.

In addition to walking, hitching rides in various trucks and other decidedly non-luxorious transport, folks were also evacuated via luxury buses and other comfortable means. Amusingly, even U.S. Marshall’s “ConAir” transports were even used. Dogs and cats were, during the majority of the disaster, left to fend for themselves and/or die. (Supposedly some animals were shot.) Only LATER did rescuers bother with animals, mostly by boat and other non-Donald Trump means. The animal-aircraft photo above represents a TINY fraction of the animals rescued from the area, most of which were were liberated half-starved by highly unglamorous means such as mud-encrusted skiffs, then taken to overwhelmed animal shelters. WHY NOT SHOW A PHOTO OF A DEHYDRATED, HALF-DEAD DOG BEING IGNORED BY RESCUERS ALONGSIDE A PHOTO OF EVACUEES DEPARTING IN A LUXURY BUS? IT WOULD BE JUST AS LOGICAL AND RELEVANT, AND WOULD MORE ACCURATELY DISPLAY WHAT HAPPENED AT THE SCENE.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/oukoe_uk_animals

OK, 60% of a half-million is 300,000 animals, many of which did not survive. Most of those that did were pulled into mud-encrusted skiffs and the like. Not one Donald Trump jet in sight. Yet, instead of being appalled by the sad plight of a third-of-a-million pets left to fend on their own, we get our knickers in a bind about 150 animals given luxury transport, which works out to 0.05% of New Orlean’s animal population by my calculator. Christians were ordered to follow his example. You can’t inflict Christianity on people and be a christian.

  105. Ryan Neat says:

    Nancy,

You are so right. Christ required charity and giving to the poor and suffering (like those in new orleans). He also commanded that you ONLY have forgiveness in your hearts – even for sinners (the reichwingers think this only applies to other christians, but then they aren’t practicing christianity, they’re practicing early judaism). They also don’t realize that christ was a pascifist. He could have brought peace to the jews and freed them from Rome, but instead he chose to be a pascifist and die.

To say that something is OK because animals do it is assinine!”

Well, from what I hear, you do all of those things…

Actually all of those things are ‘natural’, I used that word deliberatly. One of the common terms used by bible thumpers like you is that the act is ‘unnatural’, clearly this proves that assumption false.

What you are now stating is the ‘morality’ of the thing. Each of the items you’ve described and implied as unacceptable are merely social norms or what we would call immoral. Many items we think of as immoral are in fact common in nature.

So the next question is what makes something immoral versus moral. The general guideline that is typically accepted is if there’s an unwilling or defenseless ‘victim’. An example is the pedophelia you practice – that’s immoral because the child is (presumably) less mature and therefore not strong enough emotionally to deal with event. Another example would be when a walmart overwhelms the workers and takes advantage of their circumstances and desperation for works. Unions sprang up to deal with this kind of immorality.

“Homosexuality is an evolutionary dead end. Why would nature promote it and ecourage it? Only we humans do that. ”

You should get your short attention span disorder looked at while you get your pedophelia treated. Did you just copy and paste this from a site without reading it? Otherwise you are dumb as a texas rope! As I CLEARLY stated above animals DO exhibit this, it’s not a clearly human trait. Do you even know about the fish that change gender, or the animals that are polymorphic and have both genders? Are you a second grader, or did you never take biology? No wonder texas ranks 50 in schools, they don’t teach you stupid rednecks anything!

Now as to the why, here’s where the ‘intelligent design’ comes in – and I mean that from an evolution and not a christian moron perspective. In pack animals in particlar, homosexuals often fill the role of both male and female. This is particularly true in traditional human cultures, many of whom openly accepted gay people as a gift to the society. They could assist in the collective act of child rearing. They worked without taking significant societal resources associate with child rearing. And the community was always well dressed :)

Seriously, this has been documented anthropologically and is a known ‘benefit’ biologically. Not to mention the fact that all mammals derived from earlier species that didn’t possess gender. The recessive genes in this have all sorts of strange effects on human biology include hermaphrodites and XY females.

“To add, with today’s fertility technology, a same sex couple can “reproduce” thereby passing on their genes. In the past that has not been the case. Don’t be surprised to see an exponential increase in the gay population over the next few generations. ”

And ironically this has already happened to a large degree, and guess what – the kids aren’t gay! Your fear about a ‘gay society’ is just bunk, and it’s alarmist rightwing smears fitting of the swiftboater for retards you admire so much…

Gay men and lesbians have been reproducing for decades, and the percentage of gay children is identical to that of their hetero counterparts. You really are a clueless nitwit aren’t you? How horrible your world must be!

“Actually TAC, we’re appalled because while those pets are being pampered on a jet – people are languishing in shelters… If you can’t see this is the wrong set of priorities – you grew up in a different american than I did!”

RYAN: One idiot’s (the guy/gal who charted the jet, liberal or conservative or whatever) “priorities” are of little significance when 99.95% (an actual percentage — see my math above) got treatment which was more third-world. I too saw that photo weeks back and also thought, “Man, does that look bad — dogs on a luxury jet from N.O.” But my IMMEDIATE second thought was “Yeah, but for every dog on that jet, there’s a thousand ignored in flooded homes.” There’s always “0.05% clowns” who make stupid decisions in every widespread disaster, but I don’t make broad assumptions after reading about those 0.05% clowns. As I said before, a much more accurate image — BASED ON THE ACTUAL NUMBERS — would show a dead dog floating in a flooded street alongside an image of evacuees in a luxury bus (or at least a school bus). I could care less about the inevitable “0.05% clowns” unless they somehow hurt others. There’s no “wrong set of priorities” to contemplate here as you suggest, since over 99% of people got the humans-before-dogs thing right. In contrast, the 0.05% clowns OBVIOUSLY got it wrong, and their tiny numbers simply don’t warrant any philosophical discussions. The photos above, intentionally or not, make some sort of broad, misleading characterization of who got what treatment (dogs were pampered, with “brown people” treated like cattle). While the latter is correct, the former should have been “tens of thousands of dogs left to drown…while 150 are pampered.” That’s my point.

“You should get your short attention span disorder looked at while you get your pedophelia treated.”

Interesting choice of words. Treat your pedophelia. Is it treatble? Or is it genetic like being homosexual? If pedophelia is bad but can be treated why can’t homosexuality be treated? Everyone agrees that pedophelia is wiring malfunction of the brain. Why would homosexuality not be likewise?

That’s what cracks me up about gay rights advocates. You pick and chose what’s genetic or learned and what’s treatble and what’s not.

I’m sure Ryan will now have a well thought out, legitimate argument laced with name calling, inuendo and denigrating comments.

  115. Marina Architect says:

Solutions? We can do better than MoveOn can’t we. Forget TV Ads, we need a new way. I just had dinner with a friend and I told him that 40% is the new majority and it’s not numbers but loyalty that got Bush re-elected. It’s all about loyalty: that’s why even a 40% approval rating is enough to get you in office. Unbelievable. You can never shake Bush’s 40% base. Dems need to focus on their 40% base and write off the other 60%. That’s what Bush does with the phony Jesus BS. This guy is a recovering alcoholic that panders exclusively to his base. That’s what Dems need to do. Forget moderation if you want to win elections. Double down on your 40% base and you will succeed in getting into office. That’s what we are missing.

  116. Ryan Neat says:

“Interesting choice of words. Treat your pedophelia. Is it treatble? Or is it genetic like being homosexual? ”

The way pedophelia is treated is that the person is put on drugs and isolated so they can’t do harm. I was hoping he’d go find that out himself with his doctors, but if you prefer me telling him that it tends to be ‘manageable’ and not curable. So far it appears to be developmental and not genetic.

“If pedophelia is bad but can be treated why can’t homosexuality be treated? Everyone agrees that pedophelia is wiring malfunction of the brain. Why would homosexuality not be likewise?”

Because pedophelia is about power and not sex. Because pedophelia is caused by the child being sexually abused and sexualized too early. Because homosexuality is between consenting adults, and not a sexual predator and a child. If I have to tell you this, then maybe you need to go see your doctor as well…

“That’s what cracks me up about gay rights advocates. You pick and chose what’s genetic or learned and what’s treatble and what’s not.”

Nope, not true. You’re just an idiot that knows nothing about the research and makes broad pronouncements. You’ve done that all day, this is just another site where you’re showing that you’re an ignorant jackass.

“I’m sure Ryan will now have a well thought out, legitimate argument laced with name calling, inuendo and denigrating comments. ”

And yet, you’ll still be stupid and ignore them. At least you know I have well thought out comments, and I know you don’t. So far there’s clarity…

“So far it appears to be developmental and not genetic.”

And Chuckie, I should clarify this. Different people can go through the same childhood abuse, and some will survive and not become pedophiles – others will become pedophiles. Most like there’s a genetic difference that makes those people susceptible.

Similarly, some children who are beaten show a 9 times risk (if memory serves me) of becoming criminals. This also appears to be genetic based on what I’ve read. That’s part of why I’m so direct about parents like you who beat their kids being idiots for doing so…

  126. The Oracle says:

    On another note:

In the NY Times Monday is an article describing the problems New Orlean hospitals faced in evacuating their patients after Hurricane Katrina hit and the levees broke.

Many of the wealthier hospitals contracted with some bus companies BEFORE the hurricane hit to provide buses to help transport patients to safety. Apparently, one bus company signed contracts with multiple hospitals, promising a specific number of buses to each of them. Unfortunately, the buses didn’t show up after the desperate hospitals contacted this company, or fewer than the number contracted for showed up, or the hospitals were informed that the bus company had the buses on hand, but didn’t have any drivers to get the buses to the hospital. (Presumably, the drivers had fled the wrath of Hurricane Katrina).

So, I’d be curious to know which bus company provided the bus for the dogs to be transported to safety on 9/1, while hospitals were searching for buses to help get patients to safety.

And the idea that the safety of dogs would be considered a higher priority over the safety of patients…or the safety of black U.S. citizens…is really, really sickening.

Which makes the whole idea of Republicans somehow being Christian really, really sickening, too. They may claim it, but they definitely don’t show it. I am certain Jesus Christ wouldn’t be fooled.

It takes hard work to pry the facts out of the reluctant grip of federal crime databases. But the results are eye-opening:

Blacks are just 13 percent of the population but they commit more than half the muggings and murders in the country. Hispanics commit violent crimes at about three times the white rate.

The proportion of blacks and Hispanics in an area is the single best indicator of how dangerous it is. The racial mix is a much better predictor of crime rates than poverty, unemployment, and dropout rates combined.

Although Jesse Jackson and Bill Cosby wring their hands over black-on-black mayhem, blacks actually commit more violent crime against whites than blacks. A black is about 39 times more likely to do violence to a white than the other way around, and no less than 130 times more likely to rob a white.

And yes, everyone’s suspicions about rape are correct: Every year there are about 15,000 black-on-white rapes but fewer than 900 white-on-black rapes. There are more than 3,000 gang rapes of whites by blacks—but white-on-black gang rapes are so rare they do not even show up in the statistics.

There is plenty more—but just as interesting will be how the Mainstream Media will treat these facts.”

Good grief. The date on that photo is wrong. Pickens’ airlifts didn’t begin until Sept. 11.

Thanks TP for helping to really fuck up a good deed! I personally don’t give a fuck if Pickins is a repug. SOMEONE had to help with saving those pets. Some of them may be the ONLY thing that people have left and were FORCED BY THE GOV’T to leave them. Remove the Katrina variable and what would be your opinion? “TERRIBLE! How could those people just abandon a pet? Have they no compassion?” Face it, some of us really care for our amimals and would do ANYTHING for them. I’ve met people who aren’t worth the oxygen they breath (George Bush, for instance), but I’ve never run across an animal that would fuck you over at the first chance.
And how did this turn into an gay bashing, piss on Cindy Sheehan thread?? What does that have to do with the fact that the federal gov’t was asleep at the switch while the people in NO and La. and Ms. were left to fend for themselves while Chimpboy was eating cake and playing American Idol?

  143. progressive and proud says:

The trolls are starting to show their true “colors.” Geeez, they’re like the KKK – we don’t hate blacks we just love whites and want to support their cause. Yes, and let’s be honest, they do hate blacks, jews, etc. They have tried to make themselves look less hateful and put some sticky sweet syrup on top, but underneath, it is still the same rotten principles of me me me. This is pathelogical and a learned behavior and, unlike homosexuality, it is treatable. They just fear that which they don’t understand; the basis for most bigotry. Or, like some, repressive anger at the fact that they “relate” to such behavior they find abhorrent – shades of homophobia.

Sounds strikingly familiar. A little anger and all comes rushing out for the racist. They can say they aren’t racist, but c’mon now, it is glaringly obvious. The trolls know how they feel when they are all alone. They should be honest for once. The KKK has spent years learning new marketing techniques, much like the repub party. It’s all marketing and spin, but again, most of us here know what you REALLY mean.

The more one hates, the more one fears. Much like liberals, we definately FEAR the repub party. That is why we are so emotional about our cause. We are scared of losing our basic civil freedoms. The trolls here talk a lot of freedom, but they are willing to relinquish their civil rights for what they conceive as freedom. I can’t seem to wrap my brain around the ideology that giving up civil rights will give us more freedom. That just doesn’t make sense. It is illogical and most progressives work from a base of logic.

  144. progressive and proud says:

BTW for the trolls – all that LOLing is really obvious.

  145. Montague says:

Humans have domesticated animals to be their pets, so frankly it means we are RESPONSIBLE for them. The dogs and cats rely on us to take care of them. They aren’t wild animals that know how to survive on their own. It’s a measure of humanity to take care of them as well as to take care of those humans among us who need help.

While Pickens spent a boatload of money airlifting those dogs, I don’t care. He also gave a lot to the Red Cross to help humans. He’s rich enough that he was able to help out pets as well. Those pets, by the way, may be reunited some day with their owners – who may well be poor people whose dogs and cats were much-loved companions. After losing one’s home, one’s neighborhood, and more, it would be a blessing to at least find one’s beloved pet is safe and alive.

So let’s not compare and contrast on this issue. I gave money to a local Lousiana pet shelter as well as to organizations helping people. Far more money went to helping humans than helping animals. Let’s not begrudge a little something for the animals.

  146. I-RIGHT-I says:

At least SOMEONE ELSE is doing something and all you’re doing is criticizing. 158. LP says:

Wow. Glad to see we all got our priorities straight. White peoples dogs = air conditioned bus. Black people = back of semi truck.

  159. Eric says:

You people are a trip. Caring for humans doesn’t mean you have to forget about the animals. In the wake of Katrina, NO ONE was helping the animals. People were trucked out, bused out, whatever was available. Flights weren’t yet available, remember. People are being flown in some cases. Millionaires have given millions for people. The government has already spent millions on people. Most of the care to animals, if not all, is coming from NGOs and private individuals, many of whom have also donated money and event ime for people, too. Animals and people are not mutually exclusive.

This photo pairing is a false juxtaposition, and embarrassing one at that. Think Progress, indeed.

  160. Jay says:

I think juxtaposing these two pictures was creatively misleading at best. I’m sure if we had pictures of every plane, train and automobile that carted people and animals out of New Orleans we’d see lots of f%*&ed up images that didn’t make sense. I didn’t like this thread, everyone was scrambling like mad to evacuate, who cares how the lives were saved…as long as they were saved.

  161. glitch p-udding says:

huh, as someone who likes to “think progress,” i think i’m going to have to avoid a site that posts nonsense like this.

i would think such a site would avoid posts that look like they were penned by karl rove and matt drudge.

  162. stonicus says:

It doesn’t matter if this was paid for a private citizen, it’s still wrong. If the guy said, “I’ll pay to rescue the dogs, but not the people,” I’d simply tell him to leave and stop wasting our time. If they bussed dogs out before humans, regardless of who/where/why the money/resources where there, whoever authorized it should be fired.

  163. stonicus says:

As far as “we still have to protect the animals”, animals are 1000 times more naturally equipped to survive in extreme conditions than humans. Pound for pound, a human being is the weakest animal in the known universe. Given the situation, the animals would have faired better than the humans.

  164. stonicus says:

“I posted the latest FBI crime stats that always show our Negro brethren, 12.3% of the population, do over 50% of the vicious crime in this country. I know I’m not supposed to tell the truth here but I just couldn’t help myself. ”

Yeah, that may be a fact. Here’s another fact. If I starve you for a week then put you in a grocery store with no money, you’re going to steal some food. Now, expand that to not just you, but to a systematic oppression of a race of people where the opportunities for employment and education are only an illusion, proceed to expand(inflate) the economy on a rate higher than this group can better themselves and let’s see what happens.

It’s very easy to only see the result, because, you know, it’s easier and simpler strokes your own ego and reaffirms your narrow view of the world and caters well to easier and simpler(minded) people. But hey, if you want to live in ignorance and bigotry, go ahead, this is America, and you’re free to do so.

  165. Jay says:

Thing is…..who cares how they got them out of there, it was complete and total chaos and I’m sure that thousands of dogs and cats did get left behind, as did humans. If my ass was down there and I could get out on the back of a truck……I’d take it! If the dogs fly overhead in the lap of luxury….hey, good for them, they were lucky dogs. Just because A. happened doesn’t mean that B. had anything at all to do with A.

  166. stonicus says:

I care. I’d prefer all of those dogs got left behind and replaced with one stranded person.

  167. Montague says:

animals are 1000 times more naturally equipped to survive in extreme conditions than humans

Not so. The human being is the ONLY animal that can survive all extremes. Do you see iguanas living in Antarctica? Well, humans do. Do you see penguins living in the Amazon jungle? No, but humans do.

That’s because humans can adapt and can use their brains and their tool-making ability to create shelter, make clothing, etc. Humans are also omnivores and can survive on a wider diet than most if not all animals.

Caring for humans doesn’t mean you have to forget about the animals.

    Yep.

  168. Jay says:

stonicus, clearly you are not a dog person. I consider by big chocolate lab a part of the family.

I agree that humans had to be top dogs in the evacuation lines (sorry couldn’t resist)….but how do you know that those pooches took somone else’s spot? You don’t know all the details and neither do I. Without speculating, this was a silly thread. Sorry, just MHO.

  169. stonicus says:

I love dogs. I love all animals. I have compassion for all living things, even people I can’t stand to look at or stand to be in the same room with. I don’t want anyone to suffer. But if I have to choose between dog or human, I choose human. I’m a humanist more than an animal-lover. I’d sacrifice my 4 cats to save the life of someone I hate and wouldn’t ever want contact with after the disaster was over.

As far as humans living in all extremes, sure, with a few million dollars worth of equipment. We’re talking drop em down into the middle of a flooded city and see who can make it.

  170. stonicus says:

Oh, and couldn’t help this: do you see humans living at the edges of a few hundred degree temperature vents a few miles down on the bottom of the ocean? No, but little brine shrimp do. =)

  171. ScottW says:

Maybe, just maybe the guy who got the dogs out thought the Feds might be working on the people.

  172. Andrew says:

A Second Planeload has just arrived in California!!! Dogs and Cats, UNBELIEVEABLE!!!

  173. Montague says:

I’d sacrifice my 4 cats to save the life of someone I hate and wouldn’t ever want contact with after the disaster was over.

I wouldn’t. I’d be forced to feel guilty about it later, but I assure you I would save my cat before I would save George W. Bush.

As far as humans living in all extremes, sure, with a few million dollars worth of equipment. We’re talking drop em down into the middle of a flooded city and see who can make it. Oh, and couldn’t help this: do you see humans living at the edges of a few hundred degree temperature vents a few miles down on the bottom of the ocean? No, but little brine shrimp do. =)

The point is that humans CAN make habitats anywhere on Earth. The brine shrimp can’t. Hell, we can survive in the vacuum of outer space. The brine shrimp could also survive if we took them there in a habitat we created for them. But the shrimp couldn’t design or build that habitat.

I’m certainly not saying the poor and/or stranded people of New Orleans should have been left there. I am appalled at any and all branches of the government that failed them. This wasn’t a situation where some hiker took a chance in the wild, needed an expensive rescue, and should pay the taxpayers back for the cost of the rescue. These people were in their HOMES. Some had no place to go, no way to go, no friends to stay with, no money for motels, etc. (I am also in awe of the people who volunteered to go and help.)

Modern humans are kind of domesticated, too. I sure wouldn’t want to be sweating it out on a wagon train in Death Valley in 1870. I’d say our survival skills are kind of low, as are those of our domesticated animals.

Thus, back to the main point – we can help animals AND humans. Pickens is a Repug and I don’t like that, but I’ll give him credit for making a sizable donation to the Red Cross and also for donating the planes to rescue pets.

  174. JPT says:

    Just continue hating, Karl Rove!!!

  175. Emma says:

I think Bush is just plain dumb!!! He needs to be put in New Orleans to deal with no water or food or enything!!! He knew the storm was coming and didnt prepare for it so he should be put threw what thows poor people were put threw.:(

  176. Stinky Neat says:

“Thus, back to the main point – we can help animals AND humans. Pickens is a Repug and I don’t like that, but I’ll give him credit for making a sizable donation to the Red Cross and also for donating the planes to rescue pets.”

How pathetic is this mindset? You would bash Pickens for no other reason than he is a Republican? He has done nothing but good as far as you know but because of a simple political affiliation you’d badmouth him? This is what’s wrong with American politics right now. Howard Dean is setting the tone for this hatred by saying he hates everything about Republicans, hates everything they believe in and Repubs haven’t worked an honest day in their lives. He’s basically lumped all Republicans into one big mold… the very thing he says he detests most about Republicans. Guess it’s OK when he does it, eh?

I know people that are Dems based on on single issue that’s important to them but otherwise their mindset is basically conservative. Does that mean I should hate on them? Based on what I read, many, many people here would if the situation were reversed. Hate someone because of their party affiliation regardless of who they are… pathetic!

I am certainly not their apologist for anything.

However, given the chaotic conditions in the areas struck by Katrina, I think it’s highly unlikely

    1. that at some single location, two vehicles drew up — a luxury bus and an old truck
    2. that there, in the same location, were a group of well-fed dogs on one hand and one of suffering human victims on the other
    3. that someone decided or was instructed by any official in the single location to herd the human beings into the truck and the dogs onto the bus.

I suspect someone “rescued” the dogs and managed to get hold of a bus. I imagine someone else, somewhere else, came upon the victims and managed to get hold of a truck.

Does it demonstrate that the entire rescue and relief operation has been ill-managed? Oh yes!!!!!

Does it mean that a person or group of people decided that dogs’ lives are more valuable than those of human beings? I truly doubt that. I think that could only be asserted if both vehicles and both the people and the dogs were all in the same place at the same time.

I suspect what happened was that people wanted to save SOMEthing, SOMEone, ANYthing, ANYone, to feel they were making SOME dent in the horror and devastation by which they found themselves surrounded, and that the “glommed” onto whatever equipment they could find to make that happen. I find it awfully hard to fault them for that. (California’s earthquakes were my experience. Though San Francisco is actually pretty well-organized to deal with aftermath, there were some similar oddities and horrors after big quakes.)

    America the Beautiful

Since 2000 a half century of sustained decline in infant death rates first slowed and then reversed. The infant mortality rate is now higher for the United States than for many other industrial countries. Malaysia — a country with an average income one-quarter that of the United States — has achieved the same infant mortality rate as the United States . . . the Indian state of Kerala has an urban infant death rate lower than that for African Americans in Washington, DC.

I like your name. Ryan the fairy princess may have other thoughts about it. I’m sorry he involved you in his homo-hysteria on my account.

He’s a liar, a cheat, a plagiarizer, a homo and a Bad American. He didn’t like my comment about how it might be nice to turn the tables on the Filthy Left and use their well known tactics of murdering their political and ideological opponents just to make a point. Frankly, I’m against murder but one hundred percent for capital punishment. The Left is funny. They don’t mind killing babies and old people and certainly have no problem with the scores of millions the Marxists have killed in the past few decades or even terrorist bombers but, suggest we execute a murderer or a traitor or that they get a little of their own Marxist medicine and they become all upset and claim you threatened to kill them. Go figure.

Personally, I think that nearly each and everyone of the seditious commieratbastards on this site should spend twenty years in Ft. Leavenworth and bunk with T. “Daddy” Washington Jr. But that’s just me.

    “He’s a liar, a cheat, a plagiarizer, a homo and a Bad American. ”

Wow, and lets not forget ten times the man you’ll ever be…

Blah Blah Blah, we’ve heard it all before. Nazis like you always accuse other people of lying, yet you can never prove your accusations – thereby confirming to the world that you are the compulsive liar.

“He didn’t like my comment about how it might be nice to turn the tables on the Filthy Left and use their well known tactics of murdering their political and ideological opponents just to make a point.”

This response is really pathological. To a fascist, everyone is a communist. American liberals are more conservative than conservatives are in europe. You’re smoking dope you illiterate idiot. And you don’t threaten to kill people to make a point or a joke unless you are psychotic (that’s what crazy people do). So yeah everyone takes it seriously because it’s a clear sign that you’re mentally unstable (like we need any more of them).

“Frankly, I’m against murder but one hundred percent for capital punishment. ”

And yet innocent people who’ve died under capital punishment have been murdered. This is called a cognitive disconnect – another sign of mental instability.

“The Left is funny. They don’t mind killing babies and old people”

Once again, a cognitive disconnect, a lie and a slander. Otherwise known as a fascist strawman. They hope you argue that it’s ok to ‘kill babies or old people’, when neither of these statements are even true. They say dealt penalty isn’t killing, yet aborting a fetus that doesn’t even have brain waves is. As for ‘killing old people’, I believe that’s what Tom Delay did when he pulled the plug on his dad? These claims are beyond bogus, they’re the same irrational nonsense the right always spews.

” and certainly have no problem with the scores of millions the Marxists have killed in the past few decades”

Excuse me? Are you gonna take credit for all of the people that the Iranians killed? Because they have the same political stances you do. Last time I checked, american liberals aren’t using guns to kill people, yet american NeoCons just waged a war that killed 100,000 civilians. I’m a pascifist you retard – I have a problem with anyone killing, marxist or otherwise. Most liberals do, or did you forget all of the peace protests? When liberals peace protest you say we’re unamerican, then you accuse us of supporting war and terrorism even though conservatives trained, funded and created alqueda. You’re just a bunch of lying crackpots!

    ” or even terrorist bombers”

And yet your side funded and created them. Who’s supporting them again? Oh, that’s right FASCIST REPUBLICANS.

” but, suggest we execute a murderer or a traitor or that they get a little of their own Marxist medicine ”

And this is why you weren’t kidding – and you’ve just effectively restated your murder threat. You clearly feel that it’s OK to selectively kill the people you disagree with – that makes you a terrorist. I personally don’t think any of you or your fascist buddies should be killed, I think you should be put in padded rooms. But see, I’m civilized, have morals and values (including religious ones). You are devoid of any positive traits.

“and they become all upset and claim you threatened to kill them. Go figure.”

Lets see, you say that liberals are murdering people (a lie) and therefore we are worth killing – yeah, that’s a threat, and you’re a psychotic moron…

“Personally, I think that nearly each and everyone of the seditious commieratbastards on this site should spend twenty years in Ft. Leavenworth and bunk with T. “Daddy” Washington Jr. But that’s just me. ”

Seditious – as in unamerican? How ironic considering your party funded the terrorists, sold the WMDs to Iraq, sold the plutonium reactors to Iran and lied and fabricated evidence to illegally justify a war (an impeachable offense). You are correct that some people who visit this site are treasonous – unfortunately for you, you’re one of them. You are a terrorist, and an unamerican traitor. You defend those who defile american values, and you defend those who are traitors to america’s security. You are truly a sad, twisted and sick man – get thee to a rubber room!

To say that animal rights organisations would give 1000s to animal charities and nothing to humans suffering is… Well… silly…

I know many animal rights activists that are also passionate about human rights, and give to human based charities all the time.

The way I look at it is both Dogs and humans have the right to be helped, both suffer the same. I am an animal lover, and if I where to have been in New Orleans or any other impending disaster for that matter, I would not leave without my dog, even if it meant my own death.

If they had a bus like in the photo that comes with this article with only dogs on it, and no one else, then I agree that is ridiculous. Anyone that loves an animal will know where I am coming from though when I say you cant expect people to leave there pets behind, because to many it would be like leaving a child behind, they would just not do it.

I get up set when I see humans suffering on TV, but I always get more upset when I see animals suffering on TV, or in my everyday life, I do not know if that makes me a bad person or not, but I cant help the way I feel, maybe its because they are not aware of what is going, and are more defenceless than adult humans and always get the short end of the stick, animals are more like children, they need help because they can not help them selves.

I value all life as equal, animal or human, so in my view animals have the right to help, just as much as people. If there was enough room for a suit case, there is enough room for a dog or cat.

Obviously there were problems with evacuations, but it’s not like these poor dogs were the ones making the decisions! Please, don’t discriminate against and blame them.

  198. Stubain says:

    Hello all.

Here’s the deal… The dogs on the bus had resposible owners or gaurdians. The poor bastards in the back of the truck were not resposible enough themselves or did not have resposible enough parents or gaurdians to get out of the city when they were told to.

  199. Matt says:

That picture borders on fake, duh!!! If it is real it is obvious that it was supported by animal groups. To blame republicans is stupid and closed minded. And if my only way out was to get in the back of a truck then I would do it. There is nothing to be sorry about here.

  200. Noan says:

For some, saving the truly innocent, who are even less able to save themselves than poor humans, is where their hearts lie. Those people in the truck may be riding in a truck rather than a jet, but as humans, they are entitled to as much assistance from the various governments we have (such as they are) as they can get.
