Or maybe it looks like a person in the electric chair…I mean god doesn’t like killing…even if it is state sactioned and Texas has a lot of history of killing….now if I can only remember the governor who did a lot of that there in Texas…??? Can you answer that for me NeD?
Yes, the old conundrum of the right’s – pro-life and pro-death at the same time. It’s always a hoot to see how they justify that. Soooooo, roll out the barrel trollios.
Yes, it usually blows a fuse intheir head because they can’t see that every issue isn’t black and white, right or wrong, etc. I think NeD is fritzing out.
Have you asked Chimpy about the INDEPENDENT
investigation of the Katrina resonse yet?
I think all levels and patisan portions
of government should be accountable for
gross incompetence, don’t you?
It is obvious that the liberal media and left in this country want to cover up the incompetence of the local and state government in Louisana. The truth will come out. The one thing that no one expected from Katrina was to show how the war on poverty has let these people down. That is the cover up. No liberal will admit to though.
But now that NOAA has evidence that global warming increases duration and intensity of hurricanes, and we know that bi-partisan legislation like McCain-Lieberman or Bingaman can reverse global warming, it WILL BE BUSH’S FAULT if he continues to oppose states like California and New York enact good policies and if he continues to support automaker’s short-sighted policies. Hurricane effects in 10 years CAN be blamed on him.
Are you in favor of a truely INDEPENDENT
investigation of Katrina at all levels,
with consequences for incompetence?
Please let Chimpy know and your GOP majority
white-wash committee as well.
They sure loved an “investigation” when it dealt with sex. If we can somehow link a sex act with the Katrina relief debacle, they would ‘jump’ all over it. Maybe like, Chertoff was getting a bj when this started. I think if we found some dna from Chertoff, this whole thing would unravel.
Dartanyon is on to something. I believe that we should pull up all of the press reports of the various religious (hate) groups’ suggestions that Katrina was God’s way of “cleansing” New Orleans, and then we should write to each of them inquiring as to why they think God is about to cleanse Texas.
Randy is thin-skinned – he thinks we blame Bush for hurricanes. Just a little over-dramatic. We blame Bush for his slow response; for his appointment of incompetents to critical positions; for his de-funding of important infrastructure recommendations; for his self-serving photo-ops; for being ignorant of the lives of people who are not blue-blood rich like him.
Actually, I could divert from Katrina and go into a laundry list of things we can – and do – rightly blame on Bush … but the weather is not on the list.
I am not thin-skinned. I only mean to point out that no matter what happens, this site will only bash Bush. Its good for your own entertainment but has little value in winning over the public. Liberals want to believe that the moment Bush took office he immediately suspended all government programs to aid the poor in this country, that everything was just hunky-dorey under Clinton. Well, the real truth of the matter is that the citizens of New Orleans have been hurting for a long time. A very long time. What has all of the government assistance brought them? Apparently, not much. We need not throw more money at these people, but find ways for them to help themselves. They need more training, education and not more handouts. Let me put this in simple terms so that you may understand. Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Give him a fishing pole and he’ll eat forever.
Does anyone know why CNN is running the story on the 2000 missing children in New Orleans? ABC called them out on this yesterday on Good Morning America. Most of the children are with other relatives and may be separated from their parents but they certainly are not missing. Do they have an agenda they are trying to achieve?
And what political party consistently underfunds education? Republicans.
And what political party consistently undermines living wages to get people out of poverty? Republicans.
And what political party consistently undermines training program funding? Republicans.
You guys are in no place to lecture anyone about fishing – you’re selfish petty and greedy. Your party has consistently undermined legitimate and useful public infrastructure because the reichwingers don’t believe in government. If you’re so visionless as to believe government has no value – then it’s a self fulfilling prophecy.
Poverty was down to 11% when Reagan took office. It had dropped from 19% because of those programs. By the time BushI left office it had climbed back to 13 percent after consistent funding and consistent drops in poverty under every Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter. Reagan and BushI hung far right and attempted to starve the poverty programs and did a great job of effectively destroying valid economic growth.
Under Clinton poverty dropped down to about 12%, it’s now back up to almost 13% under BushII.
The poor people of New Orleans (and nationally) got a lot of value under democratic administration, but it’s hard to recover against so many republican inept leaders and be effective. If you guys would stay out of government for 20 years you’d see what progress would and could be made against poverty. Instead you’ll keep being the problem, instead of the solution.
Well that’s a nice attempt at humor, but in fact federal employment went up under bush (despite the propaganda to the contrary), and the numbers rose by millions. The actual answer is that republicans are inept administrators (eg. enron) no matter whether they’re in the public or private sector.

“Under Clinton poverty dropped down to about 12%, it’s now back up to almost 13% under BushII”
The rise is simpley explained, when Clinton left office Bush kicked out a lot of his cronies.
vis a vis they’re now breadline unemployed and force the poverty figures back up
:)
