They said that Katrina was down graded, just before it was upgraded and slammed the Gulf Coast. The people of Texas should not buy into the down grade. They should get to safety.

If I knew there was an 8.0 Earthquake about to hit near me, I would go someplace safe, even if they came out and said that it was only going to be a 7.0 afterall.

Are the papers filled with the headline “Galveston dodged a bullet” ?

What a difference having a Republican governor makes.

Thank god it’s losing steam. I know these guys in texas are largely aholes – but I wouldn’t wish this kind of devastation on anyone, even a crazy reichwinger! I hope it slows down even more and that everyone is evacuated to safety. These storms are truly scarey and we really need to honestly look at our policies for wetlands and building codes to ensure we can protect both people and property as much as possible.

Earthquake country requires strict building codes for buildings to withstand the events – I don’t understand why EVERY property in hurricane country doesn’t have to have the same standards applied. It’s just bizarre to me…
