“A Texas grand jury’s recent interest in conspiracy charges could lead to last-minute criminal indictments — possibly against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay — as it wraps up its investigation Wednesday,” AP reports. (Via TPM)
Democrats became Dixie Crats when the old GOP sided more than the Democrats with the policies of the old South – de facto slavery, separate facilities, menial wages for menial jobs, back of the bus and substandard education.
We moved to Dallas in 1951 and at that time had neighbors who hired black and hispanic maids who worked for $5 per day and had to pay for their own transportation. My parents, being from the northeast, brought in our own servents (I, my brothers and my sisters) and believed that a family unit should be in the spirit of Adams – self supporting.
In the sixties, we saw the migration of the southern Dixie Crats to the GOP. At tht point, the South lost its soul. Tom DeLay is a pitiful example of that transition.
I’m not holding my breath, an ACTUAL criminal charge against a republican crook is unlikely, and even if they charge him, the theocrats will pardon his lame ass…
Let’s see, the GOP leaders of both the House and the Senate are being investigated and the president’s poll numbers are in the toilet. 2006 and 2008 can’t get here fast enough!
Possibly, but I certainly do not expect to happen. This man Delay has a sneer on his face much like Mr. Bush has on his, and certainly arrogant and ignorance and cunning or in his manners and his behavior.
I agree Jenny. This is the state that could not bring itself to investigate George W. Bush’s inside trader deal with Harken, “lost” police records for drug and/or alcohol arrests, let him get away with shirking National Air Guard responsibilities for nearly a year, let him seal his gubernatorial papers, etc. etc. etc.
Do we really believe they will allow one of his Republican cronies to be indicted? We can only hope, but it’s very unlikely.
A Texas grand jury? That’s like being indicted by a kangaroo court, isn’t it? The law just doesn’t apply to good ole boys down there. But at least it will help with public opinion and the all-important image of the GOP. Pete Bogs says what had never occurred to me: both leaders of Congress indicted! Wow, when is that last time that happened?
dont get too crazy about prospects for democrats in future elections. somebody has to come up with some idea(s) that actually inspire the apathetic masses out there who are very tired of the rant and rave, politics as usuaal etc etc
#16 – Thats not all Bush did after being sworn in as governor. He order the department of motor vehhicles to erase his terribly bad driving record so he could start all over again.
This is nothing more than political maneuvering so as to prepare for a shift of seats in ‘06 is all. Earle is a slimeball and conspriracy is the last issue that a DA will try to go with because typically there is nothing else. This is yet one more fine example of that!
Typical Democrat nonsense. Dems never learn. Delay came forward on tv and stated that he is clean based on law. Earle has attempted this 6 times now and this is all he can come up with; a smear? How weak!
You’re “fed up”? I think the sinking poll numbers for your pathetic party speak for all the really fed up people of this country. I’m sure you’re not fed up with the way the Republican slime carved up Texas to serve their contemptible, self-serving politics. Can’t win an election fairly? Well, then, let’s just manipulate the districts, so we don’t have to worry about democracy. Hope one of you owns a pest control operation out in Texas, so you can rehire ol’ Tom as an exterminator — it’s the only job he was ever really qualified for.
Let’s not jinx it.

I hate to be cynical, but these guys are SO crooked, and they control SO much it’s hard to see that it would happen, especially in Texas.

Teflon Tom?…let’s hope not but bushies track record shows he is ‘above the law’, like nixon.

September 28th, 2005 at 12:16 pmAs Delay himself said in his own defense, “people hate the messenger. That’s why they killed Christ.”
The similarities between Tom and Jesus are striking:
September 28th, 2005 at 12:25 pmHE’S GONE!!! TOM DELAY INDICTED!!! NEXT ON DECK, PRESIDENT SHRUB!!
September 28th, 2005 at 12:45 pmone can almost smell the sh&* in his pants.
