Tom DeLay wants you to believe he was completely in the dark about TRMPAC’s activities. Here’s what DeLay said tonight on Hardball:
That’s TRMPAC. That’s not me…I was simply, along with four other elected officials, on an advisory board. They used my name as headliners for fundraisers and I had no idea what they were doing.
The facts suggest otherwise:
DELAY SAID TRMPAC WAS HIS IDEA: “U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land, said Wednesday that it was his idea to create Texans for a Republican Majority.†[Austin American Statesman, 3/10/05]
DELAY ADMITTED HE WAS A “CREATOR, ADVISOR AND FUNDRAISER†FOR TRMPAC: “House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said Wednesday he served as a creator, adviser and fund-raiser to a Texas-based political action committee now under state criminal investigation.†[Houston Chronicle, 3/10/04]
TRMPAC LITERATURE NAMES DELAY AS ORGANZATION “LEADERâ€: “Q: Who is Leading Texas for a Republican Majority? A: The leadership of the PAC includes Rep. Tom DeLay…†[TRMPAC, Q&A For Potential Media Inquires]
EVIDENCE SUGGESTS DELAY WAS INVOLVED IN COLLECTING CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS: “Documents, which were entered into evidence last week in a related civil trial in Austin, the state capital, suggest that Mr. DeLay personally forwarded at least one large corporate check to the committee, Texans for a Republican Majority, and that he was in direct contact with lobbyists for some of the nation’s largest companies on the committee’s behalf.” [New York Times, 3/9/05]
DELAY PARTICIPATED IN TRMPAC FINANCE COMMITTEE CONFERENCE CALLS [TRMPAC, 10/5/02]

He just keeps digging his hole deeper.
September 28th, 2005 at 10:11 pmI am amazed he was so uncareful about how he went about this illigal activities! So much of a trail left behind! He must really think that Americans are completely blind.
In a sense we are though. It took this long to indict him.
September 28th, 2005 at 10:13 pmthe pattern that’s been established and that delay is only continuing to follow is to lie, lie, lie… it doesn’t matter how ridiculous or absurd the lie might sound or how far from the truth it may be, just keep lying… rove…? bush…? rumsfeld…? cheney…? the whole damn lot of ‘em… just keep lying… once you let a little truth slip out, you’re screwed and they know this like they know the backs of their own hands…
September 28th, 2005 at 10:13 pmDid CM challenge him with these facts or did he just let him put out that sound bite for free?
September 28th, 2005 at 10:16 pmI don’t watch Hardball, so maybe someone could tell me, although I suspect I know the answer, whether the host be it Tweety or a fill-in, had prepared for this interview enough to say, “But Mr. Delay, that simply isn’t true, because you had x, y, and z to do with TRMPAC.”
Sadly I am guessing the host said something to the effect of, “Really? Wow, Mr. Delay, I didn’t know that. I guess this is all one big misunderstanding, isn’t it? How is your faith sustaining you?”
OK, go ahead, give me the bad news.
September 28th, 2005 at 10:18 pmFunny how a prized brainchild becomes an orphan
September 28th, 2005 at 10:36 pmwhen it turns out to be illegal and someone

And the beat goes on! Just hang in there DUHbya your turn at bat is coming. And the bat will be where the sun don’t shine. For some comic relief see http://www.storytimedolls.net/mmff.html.
September 28th, 2005 at 10:47 pmThey never let documented evidence of their past utterances get in the way of the sound-bite for the evening news.
Sadly, they are usually fully vindicated in this approach.
Our press does not track these flip-flopping positions like it does voting records… or the records as they are highlighted by the other side’s media managers.
The system is broken, what more proof do you need?
September 28th, 2005 at 10:52 pmIt is so funny listening to right wing talk show hosts who suddenly talk about technicalities, defense lawyers, the letter of the law, procedure, etc.. when one of their own is the defendant.
New Conservative Rule: Conservatives hate all rights that an accused have in a criminal investigation unless they are the defendant.
September 28th, 2005 at 10:59 pmThey don’t come any sleasier than Delay…but then again i thought the same thing about Bozo Bush when I first saw him..Remember saying to myself..”is this the best they have to offer”…well…maybe someday..the beloved America I love will return..and this nightmare of the last five years will be over..
September 28th, 2005 at 11:03 pmSOME MAY CONSIDER GETTING AS MUCH CORPORATE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS, LEGAL OR ILLEGAL, IN EXCHANGE FOR “FAVORS” IN THE FORM OF GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS POLITICS AS USUAL. SOME MAY CONSIDER USING THOSE FUNDS TO WIN HOUSE SEATS SMART. SOME MAY CONSIDER USING THOSE ADDED SEATS TO RE-DRAW DISTRICS, MARGINALIZING THE OPOSITION “HARD BALL POLITICS”. ME, I CALL IT ELECTION FRAUD.
September 28th, 2005 at 11:08 pmDon’t forget that the spinning heads only go on to the “talk” (read, lie) shows where their spinage won’t be challenged. That way Turd Blossom, Delay, and whoever else is currently under indictment can get in front of a camera and lie up a storm without fear of retribution; meaning, having the facts shoved down their throat.
It’s too bad Tommy Boy didn’t get a spot on Air America in front of Franken. Al would tear him a brand spanking new anal cavity.
September 28th, 2005 at 11:15 pmschadenfreude is such a cool word these days.

Sure Delay lies — Does one have to be a pathological liar in order to gain high status in the Republican party?
September 29th, 2005 at 12:00 amBush. Cheney. Rumsfeld. Rice. Rove. Gonzales. Frist. Bolton. Negroponte. Feith. Chertoff. Brown.
I say pathological because they lie so much, they cann’t distinguish lie from truth and so they lie whenever they speak.
Lies and the lying liars that tell them! Where have I heard that before? I suggest everyone that hasn’t read that book to do so. Very informing and verifiably truthful (refreshingly).
Now we only have to wait a couple of weeks or so maybe to find out the fate of chubby butt Karl. If lying were an art form (which the republicans seem to think it is) then Karl Rove already has a place reserved for him in The Louvre and every other notable art museum around the world! Just look at Michael Brown’s resume. Now that’s a work of art!
September 29th, 2005 at 12:15 am“The USS GOP is as good as sunk.”
I wish it were true, but unless the opposition can develop a coherent strategy and actually stand for something that appeals to more of the electorate, I fear this will amount to no more than another lost opportunity. E.J. Dionne, in the WPost yesterday, put forth some 2004 election numbers that Howard Dean and the gang ought to think about long and hard. Starts around the fifth paragraph. Worth a read.

September 29th, 2005 at 1:24 am#2 “I am amazed he was so uncareful”. Part of it may of been just plain ego. The other, was probably because so many around him, are just as corrupt. I’m sure he felt he’s protected by the powers he serves. Continually repeating the so much corruption for years, and not getting caught, no doubt de-sensitizes you. Makes you wonder, if he’ll take anyone down with him?
September 29th, 2005 at 1:49 amThe TRMPAC acronym sounds to a Spanish speaking person like the word we use for ‘trap’ or ‘treachery’. DeLay may not have known what it sounded like but, he certainly knew what it was supposed to do. And then he got caught! Arriba, arriba, arriba!
September 29th, 2005 at 1:59 amDemocracy is a device, which insures a government no better than we disserve. Maybe next election cycle we will ensure Republicans become the minority again.
September 29th, 2005 at 2:03 amI just found your site and fell in love. :) Good job, keep up the good work.
September 29th, 2005 at 2:10 am“The USS GOP is as good as sunk.â€
September 29th, 2005 at 2:10 amDon’t you bury them too soon. All it takes is a hack of a Diebold machine, and they will be back for another 8 years, and then again, and then everyone will forget that opposition ever existed. It’ll be Back to USSR all over again. USSR stands for United States for Supreme Republicans.
I am afraid the current opposition will just sit back and relax, waiting for the GOP to sink even deeper (that it will) on its own, and do nothing. Which is sad because NOW they should do everything in their power to sink the neo-cons once and for all. But, again, I am afraid it’ll be like with Arafat, who never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. I hope I am wrong.
Let’s say that Mr. DeLay is telling the honest truth and that he was only “on the advisory board” of TRMPAC. That still does not absolve him of his responsibilities as a member of that board. Does he really think that you can be on an oversight committee and not be held accountable for the actions of those whom you were to oversee?
Good grief. This isn’t rocket surgery. You advise, you accept responsibilities. If you don’t want to face the music for the follies of those listening to your advice, I suggest you simply remove yourself from any sort of governance.
Nice try, DeLay. I give you a 0.5/100 for at least some effort.
September 29th, 2005 at 2:25 amIt’s about time…
September 29th, 2005 at 2:26 amI don’t find it odd that he would think he can lie and get away with it. I have saved an exerpt from a TV show where Donald Rumsfield states that he doesn’t think that anyone in the Administration ever said that Iraq had weapons of mass destructions. He said it was an urban legend. I had to keep the clip because no one believes me until I show it to them. DeLay’s lies are much smaller than that.
September 29th, 2005 at 2:27 amAcient Purple, “Rocket surgery” … hey, I like that one. Kinda like, this administration (also) don’t got no ’science brain’.
Or, how about this one: It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see this administration is corrupt to the core and anyone who doesn’t see it could use a little brain surgery. Well, IMHO anyway. But rocket surgery is just fine. Sums it all up, neat like.
September 29th, 2005 at 2:54 amSha-na-na-na….Hey, hey…Goodbye… Even if the indictment doesn’t stick, it exposes DeLay and his cronies as the sleezebuckets they are. Does anyone really think after the DUH uh Duhbya vs Katrina mess and now DeLay, that it can ever be bidness as usual? Or am I still dreaming that Red staters actually think about how they vote?
September 29th, 2005 at 3:09 amDumbya is going down, pathalogically rocking and gaping at the press thinking how he’s gonna get out of this one. Looks like he’s gonna really have to break some laws now.
The Republican plummet’s not going to be pretty as the rats fight to stay above water. However, big idiot has the power, the authorization and the petty mindlessness to continue to do very bad things for this country. He’s got the nuclear go-ahead that can ruin the world as we know it.
We gave the five-year old the keys, thanks red-staters.

September 29th, 2005 at 6:17 amYEEEEEHAAAAAA!!!!
September 29th, 2005 at 6:18 amThis would be no where without some blatant Judical Activism on the part of the Texas Judiciary regarding that Corporate subsidized Gerry Mandering. That was the plan from day one. The redistricting had just been redone less than 5 years into the 10 year long map that was in effect. The man is a thug and a bully and I’m sure will be on the Presidents list for pardons for his good grunt work for the Grande ole Party of Pork. Immigration control, smaller govt. yeah thats the republican party to me. If everyone was pro-life who would be a republican?
September 29th, 2005 at 6:51 amI think I know that guy, Gerry Mandering. He’s considered to be a genius by the french.
September 29th, 2005 at 7:25 amI miss the trolls. Remove the troll away! Put down some troll bait!
September 29th, 2005 at 7:26 amMemory is SOOOOO fleeting in Texas politics. Thank goodness we, the thinking, do not suffer the Texas Memory Blank. Rather, we are the Thinking Citizens Memory Bank. Rock on.
September 29th, 2005 at 7:29 amAt the same time Delay said (on FOX news on Wednesday night) he was “unaware of all actions of TRIMPAC, he said he did organize the PAC, he was trying to get a Republican majority in the Texas Legislature, he did allow his name to be used for fundraising and did participate in fundraiising, and he was given updates about the success of fundraising efforts.
None of the above contradicts past statements or changes any “story” he has previously given. None of the above is illegal. It is not illegal for a PAC to send soft money to a state or national party organization (which TRIMPAC did) and it is not illegal for a national or state party to contribute hard money to a local candidate (which the Republican party did).
This is nothing more than a smear campaign to attack Delay and the Republicans in advance of the March primaries and election in November of ‘06. Delay is asking for an early trial data to resolve the case by February. The prosecutor should be indicted for misconduct.
September 29th, 2005 at 8:47 amWhile it is true that none of DeLay’s actions laughingalltheway cites in comment 36 is illegal, in Texas it *is* illegal for a PAC to funnel corporate donations directly into political campaigns. This is what DeLay’s TRM PAC appears to have done, and it is the gist of the indictment.
September 29th, 2005 at 8:58 amSee trolls. See trolls spin desperately. Spin, trolls, spin.
“Laughing”, let’s try to inject a little honesty here, shall we? Especially when all one has to do is scroll up to the top of the page to see that you’re misrepresenting things.
Tom DeLay didn’t say he was “unaware of all actions of TRIMPAC” (implying that he admitted knowing about some, just not all). He said: “I had no idea what they were doing.”
Evidently, in your world Grand Juries get together to smear people for political purposes. That’s because, as a wingnut, it’s what you’d not hesitate to do. You see conspiracies everywhere because you, yourself, would conspire if you could.
In the real world, things don’t work that way most of the time. Guess what? DeLay’s been indicted by a Grand Jury as part of an investigation that’s netted several other people. This isn’t a frivolous lawsuit filed by an opportunistic person. It’s a very serious matter, and one which DeLay will be lucky to escape without jail time.
But by all means, go ahead. Desperately wrap yourself in the warm, cozy fog of paranoid political delusion in which Republicans can do no wrong, and all your misfortune is due to the Grand World Conspiracy of the Liberal Elite. Frankly, it’s getting a little lonely in that world of yours.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:02 amThey went after the Great American Michael Brown, and now they’re going after the Great American Tom DeLay.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:13 amLet’s face it… all the charges about Michael Brown not being qualified for the job as FEMA director is a bunch of hooey! Look, it’s not like Arabian horses can’t get into emergency situations! I mean, look at what happened to Christopher Reeve! Director of the American Arab Horse Association was adequate training for Mr. Brown, if you ask me and the majority of Americans!
Politicians should be held to a higher standard and there should be a special punishment in the USA for all of them who violate the public’s trust, the guillotine.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:18 amAfter many years of being the poster boy for Republican partisanship, Tom Delay is now whining about radical partisan attacks against him.
You reap what you sow, buddy. Go ahead, cry yourself a river and blame the Democrats for your own mistakes and your blatant, repeated misuse of power. We’ve heard it all before. Nobody’s actually expecting you to take responsibility for your actions, we all know better than that. But shouting “liberal agenda!” at this stage of the game? Ridiculous and uncalled for.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:20 amWith all of the pious talk that the so-called ‘Republicans’ have been bleating the past five years, it’s time for some ‘I told you so.’ Their self-righteousness has come back to haunt them. The chickens have come home to roost and the chicken manure is beginning to pile up purdy high, too.
All of their obfuscation, war, ridiculous ‘foreign policy,’ shipping US forces willy nilly around the globe because murka was ‘attacked,’ and any other stupid reason to project murkan imperialistic ambitions will all be for naught in the end.
We are all feeling the ill-effects of their wanton displays of trickery and deceit with the aftermath of two knockdown, dragout hurricanes bringing murka to its knees.
enough of the ‘Republicans.’ They’ve done their damage. They can go back home to their constituents and beg for forgiveness. They better hope they will receive some after a good whoopin’ upside the head.
The way they have carried and conducted themselves the past five years, I’ve had enough of them. They had better hope God will forgive them. I maybe will muster some forgiveness for them, but I won’t generate any sympathy… none whatsoever. The ‘Republicans’ have made their bed. They can sleep in the lumpy thing. It won’t give them much comfort, though. good

Who cares? Politics is a contact bloodsport and DeLay has been sidelined for life. It was even a clean hit. No flags down on the field. Just DeLay in a bloody crumpled heap. Thanks for playing. Come again soon.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:38 amOh yeah, don’t forget yer kneepads next time.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:41 amIn his defense, Delay stated (I’m paraphrasing here) that he has done nothing illegal, nothing unethical and nothing unprecedented. Unprecedented. Interesting choice of words - sort of like breaking Federal election laws goes on everywhere all the time. That or that was a not so subtle message to the GOP leadership that if he goes they all go. Now that’s the stuff of dreams.
I don’t think this alone will break the GOP stranglehold on American politics. BUT I do believe that rising gas prices and a rising death toll in Iraq and the obvious failure of that policy, combined with an criminal trial could do it.
And don’t beleive the Dems are just sitting on their thumbs, Dean is out there every day getting the message out. Unfortunately, there are far too many people out there who let the conservative churches and politicians do their thinking for them. That scares me way more than Bin laden does.
And hey, Laughingalltheway, don’t go there with the smear thing. W is the King of Smear, only to be topped by his dad. Anybody who can be AWOL for thirty years and then attack Kerry’s war record has the balls of a giant and your brain in a death grip.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:41 amNo, he didn’t say “unethical”.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:43 amI said I was paraphrasing.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:44 amAnd he didn’t say illegal. He said “unlawful” though that may be a difference without a distinction.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:44 amAnd yes, Julia, you got that right. Murder isn’t unprecedented, either. Thanks for nothing, Tom. Good riddance. He’s done for good.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:45 amThe public must never forget that this ‘fright’ train of corruption conducted by the Republicans is compleatly enabled by the main stream media.
Jorge
September 29th, 2005 at 9:46 amI said I was paraphrasing.
Comment by Julia
Not jumping on you, but you were right to pick up on “unprecedented”. I listened carefully. He avoided saying unethical because it is highly unethical. And as other’s have pointed out, it’s illegal by state statute. It’s certainly not unprecedented.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:49 amDeLay will be acquitted. I suspect the GOP will investigate Ronnie Earl’s ties to House Democrats. I want emails, phone calls - any communication between DC Dems and Earl probed. Republicans have the subponea power to do this. We will do to Ronnie Earl what you folks did to Ken Starr.
Also, I want Chuck Schumer investigated by the Senate GOP for illegally obtaining Michael Steele’s credit report.
We still have the cards, people. As long as we have the investigating powers, we’ll use them if you insist on these baseless witch hunts.

Pokemon?
September 29th, 2005 at 9:54 amDie Sucka - you are right - he did say unlawful, not unethical. It was the unprecedented part that struck me. It was just such an interesting way to say that, sort of like kicking people when they’re down goes on all the time so why not just keep on doing it. Who cares if it hurts people and it’s against the law? How else would I get what I wanted? Certainly not by democratic means. That would take the agreement of the majority of the population and most people don’t want to live in a corrupt theocracy.
September 29th, 2005 at 9:55 amPoor NED. He’d rather not be here but he has to put on a brave face. Try another one. That one is a bit long.
NED walks into a bar. Bartender says: Why the long face? Tom DeLay get indicted?

September 29th, 2005 at 10:02 amLook, Americans know that Tom DeLay is innocent.
September 29th, 2005 at 10:19 amThe D.A. is a hate-America firster of the most vile
order. Why does he hate America SOO much?
Americans know that Republicans at all level
of government have the interests of the American people at heart. Americans know that Democrats are swine and unethical and that Republicans are idealistic and ethical –beyond reproach! Just look at how ethical the Bush administration has been. . .
the strict adherence to ethics has been breathtaking.
Americans know that with the Bush administration we have entered into a new Glorious Era of Ethical goverment. The American people know this. The liberals can’t stand the truth and are just plain angry people! Yuk!

Dan, I’m not angry, I’m smiling non-stop. When I read a post like yours, I giggle a little, too.
September 29th, 2005 at 10:34 amI can’t believe I am reading this crap so early in the morning. Just what wonderful things has this administration done for America.? Please give me a list. I would like to see what Bush has done for you and the rest of us…..Blessings

September 29th, 2005 at 11:07 am“I want emails, phone calls - any communication between DC Dems and Earl probed. Republicans have the subponea power to do this. We will do to Ronnie Earl what you folks did to Ken Starr.”-DEM
NED,
What is your point? Even if this began from political motivation(and I doubt it was), your golden boy DeLay has been indicted.
Furthermore, Tom DeLay was indicted by a Grand Jury. How did Ronnie Earle pick a partisan jury to go along with him?
Don’t forget that Earle prosecuted 2 Democrats for each Republican.
What evidence do you have to even suggest political motivation?
Ronnie Earle is a Democrat who is active in politics, so it would be reasonable to assume he speaks to other Democrats. Last I checked, being a liberal is perfectly legal.
*Political motivation does not equal illegal.
*Money laundering = ILLEGAL.
Understand the difference?
“We still have the cards, people. As long as we have the investigating powers, we’ll use them if you insist on these baseless witch hunts.”-DEM
Are you suggesting Republicans should investigate to actually obfuscate evidence, because what would be to learn from such an unwarranted investigation of the prosecutor?
Power to investigate does not mean willy-nilly unwarranted probing to intimidate or obfuscate, and could be considered an obstruction of justice.
September 29th, 2005 at 11:08 amHEy DilEnema,
In case you missed it, its Mr. Tom DeLay that is being investigated, not Ronnie Earle. You can get your precious little investigation of Mr. Earle AFTER he and the grand jury are done with Mr. DeLay.
Now go grab your box of tissue and find a big, strong shoulder to cry on during this very emotional time for you.
September 29th, 2005 at 11:13 amIf there is so much overwhelming evidence, why didnt the first 5 grand jurys indict him? seems a little odd that they had to go through 6 grand jurys to just get an indictment.
September 29th, 2005 at 11:19 amNED wrote: “I want emails, phone calls - any communication between DC Dems and Earl probed.”

September 29th, 2005 at 11:57 amHey NED, don’t forget those ‘investigative powers’ are everywhere, not just in the hands of the right wing. We, too, can subpeona emails, phone calls, etc - in fact I would love to do to Delay what Ken Starr did to the Clintons. AND I just may get my wish.
September 29th, 2005 at 12:13 pm“See trolls. See trolls spin desperately. Spin, trolls, spin.”
Hilarious. Almost as fuuny as:
“We will do to Ronnie Earl what you folks did to Ken Starr.”
So Earl gets a cushy job teaching at Pepperdine?

We still have the cards, people. As long as we have the investigating powers, we’ll use them if you insist on these baseless witch hunts. ”
NED made a funny! Bahahaha. He first says the senate should investigate Schumer for something he NEVER DID. The staff that did this were summarily fired. Lets compare this to the republican staff who HACKED IN AND STOLE RECORDS OF DEMOCRATS AND THEN PUBLISHED THEM TO THE PRESS. Perhaps NED the DEADHEAD can order an investigation of those congressmen as well, while he’s doing ‘baseless’ investigations…
What a nutjob! No wonder reichwing is a bunch of treasonous murdering and torturing terrorists - they’re crazy!
September 29th, 2005 at 12:54 pmBreaking News!! NeD hates Chuck and Hillary. Oh, crap, now what do we do?
Whatcha’ want, NeD?
September 29th, 2005 at 1:01 pmThe GOP is infested with so many hypocritcal liers that it’s difficult to keep track of them. When caught like a rat they just blame the left and the red states fall for it. In the mean time they are still marching to the same unified beat (their agenda), the right wing talk shows (can’t call it news) quickly fall into line to make every accusation a topic for debate.
September 29th, 2005 at 1:03 pmOh, and NED,
Because of the law changes to support ‘homeland security’, the ‘government’ is one of the exemptions for who has access for credit reports. So to quote you on your bogus response to delay - ‘there’s no proof that a crime was committed’. And do you know the difference between democrats and republicans? Despite the fact that there was no crime proven - the democrats fired the person. Too bad your immoral side sees things with more moral relativism and less accountability. I’d love to see Delay and Frist fired - it is appropriate. That would be similar accountability - but I won’t hold my breath. Your side never has accountability for its failures, its fraud and its theivery - why start now…
September 29th, 2005 at 1:18 pmSo….. when do we start the public lynching and stoning ?
Wolfocrap, Kuntaleeza, Chweeny, George the Rapist, Grove, and the reat of the murderers need to be stoned and lynched in public.
Delay may join them, together with all the rest of the Enron racketeers.

September 29th, 2005 at 1:52 pmDan Cobb is putting out the weakest bunch of BS I’ve read so far. Like having experience in horse disasters, even Reeve’s accident, is anything like dealing with a whole city going under water. And as for his BS that the Republican’s have the American public’s interest at heart is the biggest lie I’ve ever seen.
September 29th, 2005 at 2:27 pmFirst, Delay has already been slapped 3 times on the wrist for unethical behavior, so it seems in the Govt its 4 strikes and your out.
Second, since Bush & Co have been in office, they have done nothing but cut taxes for the rich, gutted environmental laws that protect the publics health by selling them off to the highest bidders, and wagged an unfounded war that most of the world knew was unnecessary. The only reason he was able to invade Iraq was because he failed to capture Osama Bin Laden which was most likely on purpose as the facts are coming out that he didn’t provide enough troops to try to capture him according to the CIA Field operator who was in charge of finding him. Unfortunately the CIA is not allowing that CIA operative’s book to be published because it critizes Rumfield and Bush about not allotting enough troops to surround Tora Bora when they had creditable intelligence showing OBL was hiding out there. Instead, Bush lets OBL get away so his momentum to invade Iraq doesn’t get squashed since the American public would’ve considered it “Mission Accomplished”, as Bush was so fond of saying, if OBL was captured.
“Republicans are idealistic and ethical –beyond reproach! Just look at how ethical the Bush administration has been. . .
the strict adherence to ethics has been breathtaking.
Americans know that with the Bush administration we have entered into a new Glorious Era of Ethical goverment.”

Being that you’re in Balitmore, I can only think that you were up all night drinking and doing blow with Prez Bush if you really can actually believe what you said.
P.S.: I’d rather have a pot smoking president who got blow jobs than an alcoholic president who is doing blow!
September 29th, 2005 at 2:50 pmNED has pokemon cards?
September 29th, 2005 at 3:22 pmCan anyone tell me the ‘exact crime’ he committed?
September 29th, 2005 at 9:54 pmREADING DAN’S POST, WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE EXCITED A FEW PEOPLE, I HAVE COME TO THIS CONCLUSION. EITHER IT WAS REALLY INTENDED AS SARCASM OR HE LIKES TO GET A RISE OUT OF PEOPLE OR I AM FRIGHTEND THAT THERE IS ACTUALLY A PERSON WALKING AROUND BELIEVING WHAT HE WROTE.
September 29th, 2005 at 10:54 pmGo to the link below to see 10 amazingly stupid quotes by Tom DeLay. I think #1 is the funniest:
1) “So many minority youths had volunteered…that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like myself.” –Tom DeLay, explaining at the 1988 GOP convention why he and vice presidential nominee Dan Quayle did not fight in the Vietnam War.

Can anyone tell me the ‘exact crime’ he committed?
September 30th, 2005 at 9:52 pmWe still have the cards, people. As long as we have the investigating powers, we’ll use them if you insist on these baseless witch hunts.

NED still has the Pokemon cards. I hear he has one of those roll-up pianos too. And even an accordion.
October 1st, 2005 at 8:22 amTo answer ‘Jason’ in # 88 and 91 - The “crime” alleged against DeLay is conspiring to provide corporate contribution funds (@$190K)to individual Texas candidates, which is prohibited by Texas state law. DeLay will defend by showing that the TRMPAC money was first sent to the RNC, which then redistributed the same amount of money from another RNC account to the individual candidates in TX. He and the RNC say this is SOP and done all the time, and complies w/ the law/ Conversely, the prosecutor in Austin must have a ‘warm body’ to tesify that DeLay knew exactly wahat he was doing in an effort to thwart the TX law. That witness will need to testify that DeLay intentionally used the RNC to ‘launder’ the money, and that DeLay ‘conspired’ to circumvent TX law when he arranged the ’swap’ w/ the RNC.
October 3rd, 2005 at 2:02 pmBest defense arguments : 1)it was all legal under federal election law, which negates any possible criminal intent under TX state law; and 2) (this one is pretty damn sneaky, even by TX lawyer standards ….) that he consulted w/ TX lawyers every step of the way and ‘honestly thought and believed’ that he was doing something legal. Therefore, he could not have had the necessary bad or criminal intent (’ mens rea’) to commit any crime. Cute ! Stay tuned ! He’s a crook, but he may walk !
He will never spend a day in prison.
