To answer ‘Jason’ in # 88 and 91 – The “crime” alleged against DeLay is conspiring to provide corporate contribution funds (@$190K)to individual Texas candidates, which is prohibited by Texas state law. DeLay will defend by showing that the TRMPAC money was first sent to the RNC, which then redistributed the same amount of money from another RNC account to the individual candidates in TX. He and the RNC say this is SOP and done all the time, and complies w/ the law/ Conversely, the prosecutor in Austin must have a ‘warm body’ to tesify that DeLay knew exactly wahat he was doing in an effort to thwart the TX law. That witness will need to testify that DeLay intentionally used the RNC to ‘launder’ the money, and that DeLay ‘conspired’ to circumvent TX law when he arranged the ’swap’ w/ the RNC.
Best defense arguments : 1)it was all legal under federal election law, which negates any possible criminal intent under TX state law; and 2) (this one is pretty damn sneaky, even by TX lawyer standards ….) that he consulted w/ TX lawyers every step of the way and ‘honestly thought and believed’ that he was doing something legal. Therefore, he could not have had the necessary bad or criminal intent (’ mens rea’) to commit any crime. Cute ! Stay tuned ! He’s a crook, but he may walk !

Dan Cobb is putting out the weakest bunch of BS I’ve read so far. Like having experience in horse disasters, even Reeve’s accident, is anything like dealing with a whole city going under water. And as for his BS that the Republican’s have the American public’s interest at heart is the biggest lie I’ve ever seen.
First, Delay has already been slapped 3 times on the wrist for unethical behavior, so it seems in the Govt its 4 strikes and your out.
Second, since Bush & Co have been in office, they have done nothing but cut taxes for the rich, gutted environmental laws that protect the publics health by selling them off to the highest bidders, and wagged an unfounded war that most of the world knew was unnecessary. The only reason he was able to invade Iraq was because he failed to capture Osama Bin Laden which was most likely on purpose as the facts are coming out that he didn’t provide enough troops to try to capture him according to the CIA Field operator who was in charge of finding him. Unfortunately the CIA is not allowing that CIA operative’s book to be published because it critizes Rumfield and Bush about not allotting enough troops to surround Tora Bora when they had creditable intelligence showing OBL was hiding out there. Instead, Bush lets OBL get away so his momentum to invade Iraq doesn’t get squashed since the American public would’ve considered it “Mission Accomplished”, as Bush was so fond of saying, if OBL was captured.

Because of the law changes to support ‘homeland security’, the ‘government’ is one of the exemptions for who has access for credit reports. So to quote you on your bogus response to delay – ‘there’s no proof that a crime was committed’. And do you know the difference between democrats and republicans? Despite the fact that there was no crime proven – the democrats fired the person. Too bad your immoral side sees things with more moral relativism and less accountability. I’d love to see Delay and Frist fired – it is appropriate. That would be similar accountability – but I won’t hold my breath. Your side never has accountability for its failures, its fraud and its theivery – why start now…

NED made a funny! Bahahaha. He first says the senate should investigate Schumer for something he NEVER DID. The staff that did this were summarily fired.
