  1. Patriot Says:

    Brown(in response to Katrina failures):

“I have predicted privately for several years that we were going to reach this point because of the lack of resources and the lack of attention being paid,” Brown said. “It has been a personal struggle over the past two or three years to keep that place together because of this resource problem.”

    From Hearing:

REP. CHRISTOPHER SHAYS ®, CONNECTICUT: Did you ask OMB for the money? Did you ask Mr. Chertoff for the money? Who did you ask for the money, so that you would have the ability to implement Hurricane Pam, so we could have saved lots of lives?

BROWN: We put that money in our budget request following Hurricane Pam, and it was removed by the Department of Homeland Security.

    From Chris Mathews:

Now, also today, the homeland security secretary, Michael Chertoff, was asked to respond to Brown‘s comments. And Chertoff said—quote—

    “He speaks for himself”

  2. Rotwang Says:

Hmmm. Quite a few drug dealers here, and a saboteur of some sort. Personal friends?

  3. Jesus Christ God of WAR Says:

I noticed a cocaine dealer on the list. And one LSD distributor. Might these be FOB (Friends of Bush)? Or SOB (Suppliers of Bush)?

  4. Ryan Neat Says:

Any trolls want to defend this criminal some more? What a bunch of stupid schmucks!

  5. George Says:

“Hey, I pardon people all the time!”

  6. Zookeeper Says:

I bet the majority of them are white.

  7. Ron Says:

Next thing you know, he’ll pardon Saddam and place him back in power as President of Iraq again.

Probably the smartest thing he’ll ever do.

  8. Richard Jailhouse Nixon Says:

I see marijuana, LSD, and cocaine dealers — coincidentally the three drugs Bush mentioned on the Weaver tapes — maybe some old friends from his party days in the Guard?

Another made threatening phone calls, probably a campaign worker or one of Karl’s helpers.

    Counterfeit reserve notes, that’s odd…

  9. Oven Mitt Says:

    At least they ain’t liebrals!

“Fire and Force, Fist and Faith, let our friends draw strength from us and our enemies tremble”.

Oven Mitts are warm and fuzzy like my day old pork buns.

He’s toast. He’s gone, for good, regardless of the outcome. Atrios:

It sounds like DeLay’s pretty much done. He may or may not be convicted, of course, and if he doesn’t he’ll likely manage to stick around in Congress for a little while, but it sounds like the DeLay era is over. David Brooks was on NPR, and he’s a reliable peddler of a certain strand of Republican information. Things we learned: Bush never really got along with DeLay, conservative Republicans have come to believe that DeLay only wants more and doesn’t have any genuine conservative principles (whatever they are), everyone just loves Blunt. Whatever the truth of any of these things, the fact that Brooks is peddling these storylines says that they’re pushing him out permanently.

My guess is he’ll decide at some point that it’s much more fun (and lucrative) to retire to K street, if he manages to escape the pokey.

  12. Ha! Says:

    Good Job, folks.

    Next!

  13. Mikey Says:

About halfway down the list “Property damage by use of explosives and destruction of an energy facility”.

WTF?!!? Isn’t that terrorism? Oh Wait, it must have been an ALTERNATIVE engery facility.

  14. Ryan Neat Says:

Apparently the Pentagon identified Mohammad Atta as a security risk before 9/11. Geez, I wonder why this information didn’t surface during the 9/11 congressional coverup?

    ryan -
ok, so i can relate to conspiracy theories too…so thought i would share this:

    http://tomflocco.com/fs/OlsenArrested.htm

“French and American intelligence agents have arrested Barbara Olson, the wife of a former Bush administration official, a few days ago on the Polish-German border, according to agents close to and with knowledge of the incident.”

i would like proof before belieiving this, but it is interesting.

  16. Ryan Neat Says:

    right of you,

If this is true, all I can say is

    HOLY FUCK!

This certainly implies that 9/11 was an inside job doesn’t it? Well the PNAC always said that the country would need an attack to create the environment necessary to bring on the NeoCon revolution. It sounds like they got impatient and simply engineered it!

    All I can say is:

    WOW, HOLY CRAP BATMAN!

  17. Jim Says:

For you mister #5 “Any trolls want to defend this criminal some more? What a bunch of stupid schmucks!

    Comment by Ryan Neat”

Not to burst your bubble… BUT did you really read the list??

    (Bobbie Archie Maxwell, Lansing, Mich.

    Offense: Mailing a threatening letter; 18 U.S.C. 876.

Sentence: Sept. 6, 1962; Middle District of Georgia; 12 months probation.)

What do you see? This person was sentenced in 1962! In fact, ALL of these people had already been sentenced and had either served their time or paid their fines.

This was a matter of having these removed from their police records.

It is not as if he was letting people go free without paying their consequences.

While this is a non issue, I do admire the level of attention everyone is giving GW. My only advice is to pick your battles better than this one. I don’t want us Libs to look like losers by crying over spilled milk!

  18. to the right of you Says:

    jim -

i think this is a ‘connection’ issue. there are many felons who do similiar stuff, but since they have no connections, their records are there for life…i dont see an issue with it, besides that

as you said, most, if not ALL were through with their sentences…which doesnt make it bad (in terms of them finishing their sentences)…but the ‘connection’ part bothers me…i could think of many people who deserve this same attention, and are held back because of their past records.

i wonder if there is 1 name in there that will really raise eyebrows.

  19. Ryan Neat Says:

Part of paying one’s consequences is the stain of the guilty plea and it’s removal of the right to vote. If GeezassW believes in the important of removing this stain from people’s lives, there are 5 million former fellons that have paid their debt to society and could use a hand.

Although I’m sure they’re not GOP rangers who BUY their citizenship, so they’ll get buttkuss from this corrupt crony!

“While this is a non issue, I do admire the level of attention everyone is giving GW. My only advice is to pick your battles better than this one. I don’t want us Libs to look like losers by crying over spilled milk!”

It shows how he’s for sale, and is corrupt - I find it highly relevant - as I’m sure the majority of americans would!

  20. Ryan Neat Says:

    right of you,

So far flocco is the only person who’s reporting this information. It could be someone just yanking his chain, so keep watching to see if it’s just a good hoax, or the real thing.

I’m a skeptic on this. I want to believe in the better nature of people and that the reichwingers wouldn’t be this insane or desperate - but in light of the fabrication of evidence to wage war on Iraq, I’ve shifted much of my skepticism TO the administration.

Considering how they have put NO energy into tracking down Osama, clearly bush didn’t feel threatened by him. GeezassW is a simple (stupid) man who’s mostly petty and vengeful. Since he doesn’t obsess over Osama, then clearly he doesn’t blame him in that maniacal and insidious way GeezassW does - so therefore it makes me question whether there wasn’t governmental knowledge and coordination of the event. I’m just looking at the psychology of the man and his actions - and it looks VERY suspicious to me…

  21. Ryan Neat Says:

Oh, and there’s usually no border patrols between EU countries - which makes me HIGHLY suspicious of flocco’s story. I suspect it’s someone just having a good jab at the administration…

  22. Georgie 'Drug Habit' Says:

Actually #17 Jim, it does make a difference in today’s three strikes world. Clean the record and they can get arrested two more times, for free! Yay!

  23. Ralph Mugutzup Says:

Me thinks GW is clearing spaces for the hoards of his followers that will need brick rooms!!!

  24. Jim Says:

    “..stain of the guilty…”

I am Christian Liberal (don’t flame), and that means I believe in forgiveness. If you look at the dates and “sentences” you can easily gleen that the true actions could not have been so severe. Seriously, these people seem to not deserve a scarlet letter or even one of three strikes.

“Possession of tax-unpaid whiskey” Bootlegger for petes sake!

“Mailing a threatening letter” Uh, LOL I suppose since snail mail is more personal than the threats I’ve seen here.

“Embezzlement by a bank employee” Two years Probo, probably a teller who slipped a hundy!

By far the only true deserver could be “Property damage by use of explosives and destruction of an energy facility” May be the stretch.

At any rate… no issue in my book since ALL Presidents have a laundry list each year, similiar to this one.

And just for in case their are right wing Christians trolling… REAL Christians wage PEACE!

    Cheers!

  25. Dartanyon Says:

Tweety looked like he wanted to crawl over the desk and blow DeLay this afternoon. What a nauseating suck up of a perfomance.

  26. Innocent Bystander Says:

List means nothing to me. It would be interesting to see a bio and how these cases warrant Dimson’s personal attention, though. There are millions that could benefit from this largesse, why a select few? Seems like something done in countries with a monarchy, not with modern democratic governments (or what passes as such today).

  27. Cee Says:

Call me crazy, but I don’t think this is an example of reonciliation or mercy.
I’d venture to say this is the work of Karl Rove. He’s setting the stage for the president to pardon him (and others) at some later date. The administration can say that, oh yes, they have a history of using the power of presidential pardons.
    Cee

  28. Narc Says:

I am Christian Liberal (don’t flame),

Nobody here would flame a true Christian, Jim.

  29. wisedup Says:

#27, Cee,I think you have it right. What is bushie up too????…ahhh…getting ready to let his cronys off the hook later.

  30. Sharon Cox Says:

Remember Rove and all the Bush buddies spend all their time doing little things to keep our heads busy while they empty our pockets and strip our rights……Blessings

  31. progressive and proud Says:

I told y’all he is Fristory. Line ‘em up, we are cleaning house. HA!

  32. QrazyQat Says:

The explosives and energy facility guy’s story:

    **
Harvey and several others who planned the explosions were United Mine Workers members. The UMW had waged a strike against the mine since 1984, when company officials had refused to sign a union contract.

In June 1989, a non-union company called Mountain Minerals leased the mine. Shortly afterward, a small bomb went off near a bridge leading to the mine, but did no damage.

A few months later, another bomb destroyed a mine ventilation fan, according to company officials. That night, someone went inside the mine and destroyed electrical power boxes and conveyor belts, company officials said.

Eventually, 11 people were arrested and charged with a part in the bombings and vandalism. Harvey pleaded guilty to destruction of property by use of an explosive device and destruction of an energy facility.

At Harvey’s sentencing, U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Hallanan said Harvey was a “minor participant” and a victim of a “tragic, tragic situation.” Still, she said he had no right to resort to violence, and sentenced him to 25 months in prison on each of the two counts against him. The sentences ran at the same time.

Too bad he couldn’t have slipped Mumia in there while he was at it - or Frances Newton… oh, but they’re black, never mind…
