Harvey and several others who planned the explosions were United Mine Workers members. The UMW had waged a strike against the mine since 1984, when company officials had refused to sign a union contract.

In June 1989, a non-union company called Mountain Minerals leased the mine. Shortly afterward, a small bomb went off near a bridge leading to the mine, but did no damage.

A few months later, another bomb destroyed a mine ventilation fan, according to company officials. That night, someone went inside the mine and destroyed electrical power boxes and conveyor belts, company officials said.

Eventually, 11 people were arrested and charged with a part in the bombings and vandalism. Harvey pleaded guilty to destruction of property by use of an explosive device and destruction of an energy facility.

At Harvey’s sentencing, U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Hallanan said Harvey was a “minor participant” and a victim of a “tragic, tragic situation.” Still, she said he had no right to resort to violence, and sentenced him to 25 months in prison on each of the two counts against him. The sentences ran at the same time.

I am Christian Liberal (don’t flame), and that means I believe in forgiveness. If you look at the dates and “sentences” you can easily gleen that the true actions could not have been so severe. Seriously, these people seem to not deserve a scarlet letter or even one of three strikes.

“Mailing a threatening letter” Uh, LOL I suppose since snail mail is more personal than the threats I’ve seen here.

“Embezzlement by a bank employee” Two years Probo, probably a teller who slipped a hundy!

By far the only true deserver could be “Property damage by use of explosives and destruction of an energy facility” May be the stretch.

At any rate… no issue in my book since ALL Presidents have a laundry list each year, similiar to this one.

So far flocco is the only person who’s reporting this information. It could be someone just yanking his chain, so keep watching to see if it’s just a good hoax, or the real thing.

I’m a skeptic on this. I want to believe in the better nature of people and that the reichwingers wouldn’t be this insane or desperate – but in light of the fabrication of evidence to wage war on Iraq, I’ve shifted much of my skepticism TO the administration.

Considering how they have put NO energy into tracking down Osama, clearly bush didn’t feel threatened by him. GeezassW is a simple (stupid) man who’s mostly petty and vengeful. Since he doesn’t obsess over Osama, then clearly he doesn’t blame him in that maniacal and insidious way GeezassW does – so therefore it makes me question whether there wasn’t governmental knowledge and coordination of the event. I’m just looking at the psychology of the man and his actions – and it looks VERY suspicious to me…

Part of paying one’s consequences is the stain of the guilty plea and it’s removal of the right to vote. If GeezassW believes in the important of removing this stain from people’s lives, there are 5 million former fellons that have paid their debt to society and could use a hand.

Although I’m sure they’re not GOP rangers who BUY their citizenship, so they’ll get buttkuss from this corrupt crony!

i think this is a ‘connection’ issue. there are many felons who do similiar stuff, but since they have no connections, their records are there for life…i dont see an issue with it, besides that

as you said, most, if not ALL were through with their sentences…which doesnt make it bad (in terms of them finishing their sentences)…but the ‘connection’ part bothers me…i could think of many people who deserve this same attention, and are held back because of their past records.

i wonder if there is 1 name in there that will really raise eyebrows.

What do you see? This person was sentenced in 1962! In fact, ALL of these people had already been sentenced and had either served their time or paid their fines.

This was a matter of having these removed from their police records.

It is not as if he was letting people go free without paying their consequences.

This certainly implies that 9/11 was an inside job doesn’t it? Well the PNAC always said that the country would need an attack to create the environment necessary to bring on the NeoCon revolution. It sounds like they got impatient and simply engineered it!
