There is not a single editorial or op-ed about DeLay’s indictment in today’s Washington Times. Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist writes about the threat of avian flu. (HT: Hotlinesub req’d)
Liberals are mistakenly under the impression that a media outlet such as Fox or the Wash Times present a story with no bias unlike the rest of the media. Their claim to be fair and balanced is really an attempt to level the playing field with the rest of the liberal-biased media.
I think people on on to the “fair and balanced”
lie.
I also think people are on to the “rest of the liberal-biased media” lie as well.
Media today is like the federal government, in both cases it is
silly for conservatives to complain when they control everything.
Republican corruption, patronage and cronyism in the Bush White House, in Congress, in state houses and on K street are turning the United States into a sad parody of the stereotypical South American banana Republic.
For the details on Frist, Delay, Ney, Brown, Abramoff, Reed, Safavian, Allbaugh, Myers, Majoras, Cooney, Cheney, Rove, Schwarzenegger, Taft, Noe and Fletcher (just to name a few of the miscreants), see:
Randy…where are you coming from in the #1 post? Kinda contradictory don’t ya think?
Good point #4. Karl’s machine has been running full guns already…could be approaching overload. Might take a while to get to this one. Love to be a fly on the wall in some closed door sessions.
Something to think about. If Karl’s team takes it’s time on DeLay. It might just mean he’s expendable and/or being left to fend for himself. If someone of DeLay’s stature is taking a back seat- BushCo might be in damage control overload just trying to save Bushes presidency. I think the ship of fools is taking on more water than it can bail.
My bet is that the WH smear machine will come out blazing. This is a Texan and bushco’s pal. Bushie never admits being wrong and he will not allow the big dog to be taken down without a fight. He’s important to the repubs and they will defend him to the end. Besides, this is a nice distration from Iraq, Supreme Court, Natural disasters, out of wack national budget, social security, health care, on and on. . . . Expect the repubs to continue to cast this is a Democratic smear tactic against a “fine American.” Soon we’ll hear how the dems can’t win at the polls so they now resort to slinging mud and using a Texas DA to do what the voters refused to do…put them in charge.
Ahh yes, that famous liberal media bias…..so who was it that carried the water for all those powerful liberal interests again? Russert? Nope. Matthews on Harball? Nope, wasn’t him. Stephanopolous? Scheiffer? Brian Williams? I think not. Oh yeah, Dan Rather, the poor slob that got lynched for reporting the truth about Bushie in the drunk, deserter years.
THERE IS NO LIBERAL MAINSTREAM MEDIA.
THERE IS NO LIBERAL MAINSTREAM MEDIA.
THERE IS NO LIBERAL MAINSTREAM MEDIA.
There, now that I’ve repeated it three times, the wingnuts should start to catch on.
Southwest, Earle was being Swifted as soon as Fox News could get the talking points distributed. Check Media Matters for details. NPR this AM had Earle’s back this morning: Earle is a career prosecutor, this is his last case probably, he is an idealist (fancy that) and is dedicated to keeping money out of politics because of its corrupting influence.
“Liberals are mistakenly under the impression that a media outlet such as Fox or the Wash Times present a story with no bias unlike the rest of the media. Their claim to be fair and balanced is really an attempt to level the playing field with the rest of the liberal-biased media.”
Bahaha, so you claim that their ‘bias’ is in fact legitimate? Are you even aware that virtually ALL american media is owned by 7 large and conservative companies? Are you aware that those corporate heads DICTATE which stories are allowed and not allowed to be covered? Were you aware that several reporters have ADMITTED (2 last week) that the editors decide the stories, and that fear and intimidation rule reporters?
Of course you weren’t, you’re too busy watching those ‘biased’ outlets that claim they are leveling the playing field. But had it ever dawned on your stupid brain that if they were ‘leveling’ the playing field – they would simply print the truth even when it harmed your side? That’s what the media USED to do, and that’s why republicans hated it. It wasn’t because it was liberal, it’s because the truth usually favors liberals!
You would rather live in delusional lies than have a free press that prints truths uncomfortable to you. That’s psychotic. That’s republican. That’s YOU!
I,ve got your fair and ballanced. The big bold headline to the AP story on the indictment in my local “San Diego Union Tribune” — “DeLay rebuts indictment: “It’s a sham”" Unfortunatly I’ve gotten used to right wing papers that don’t know the difference between the front page and the editorial page.
Dan
Guys, the webpage boston.com which is affiliated with the Boston Globe (trashed by the right as New England’s little NYT….even owned by the Times if I’m not mistaken), yesterday had a local Democratic politician on its front page as the Delay story broke, with a picture. The story was about how she was involved in some political dirty dealings (campaign finance if I’m not mistaken). Quite prominent. The much less prominent sidebar story was the Delay indictment. It was an unbelievable considering the difference in the stature of each. It was a crystal clear example of how the “so called liberal media” spins and deflects attention from the corruption of the GOP. Liberal media my ass!
Big business is now running not only the media but the country as well. I feel like this last 5.5 years has been an unimaginable nightmare that won’t end and worse yet, was never suppose to be able to happen in America, too many safety stops. Well here we are, isn’t there a way to legislate and limit control that business will have in our future? Can’t we better define the sandbox they get to play in and what they can own? Why is no one holding the media accountable for the lack of reporting or for reporting distortions as in Faux news? They are driving everyone interested in the truth to the internet as a news source. In 10-20 years there will be no need for MSM.
What kind of perverted logic is that in #1?
A newspaper can’t print anything negative about a Republican, keeping their readers in the dark, because they are balancing out the rest of the media? What!!??!
Randy poses a really twisted logic with that one.
Now that Karl Rove has stopped peeing blood, he is working overtime in preparing talking points for Bush, Rumsfeld, Frist, Delay, Abramoff and Cheney. Someone should tell him that Hughes’ points are not working. He will have to edit hers too. Until he gets all these points copied and distributed to Blankely and Rev. Moon, the Wash.Times will remain paralyzed.

September 29th, 2005 at 11:21 amRandy you liar. You were saying you were gonna leave this blog last week. What are you still doing here.
It appears you have no higher ethics than our ex-Majority Leader DeLay.
Grow up dude.

September 29th, 2005 at 11:46 amLooks like they’re falling back to their favorite control tactic – fear. Only 59 deaths in two years? Maybe they should work on ending the war first.
