Judith Miller is free.

“She was released after she had a telephone conversation with the Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby … [who] reaffirmed that he had released Miller from a promise of confidentiality more than a year ago.” (Via Atrios)

I wonder if this was part of the on-going “negotiations” we heard about three weeks ago?

Any ideas on where the Grand Jury is on the topic of Valerie Plame and her outting by the WhiteHouse?

  2. wisedup says:

Yessssssssssssss, now how many more to go. FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, ‘the ship is sinking’ bushie…

  3. Alvord says:

So the story is she had a phone call with Lewis Libby who gave her his permission to break her silence. Right. That could have been done months ago. Who is going to get the real story about what just happened and what is going to happen next in this case?

  4. afterthought says:

Did she have to promise to not lie, I mean write….
well same difference for her, anymore?

  5. Marie says:

Something is pending here. Ninety days lafter she went to jail, she has a phone call that causes her release. So now she will talk? Is the case wrapping up anyway? Is it going down without an indictment and therefore she can talk and it won’t matter? Was a deal made?
No matter what – someone must be held accountable for the exposure of a CIA operative.

  6. Keith H. says:

Look for her to have a fatal automobile ‘accident’ soon.

  7. nobody says:

Weird. WaPo has a headline up with no story, and the Times so far has zilch.

Why after all this time would Scooter talk to her now?

  8. The English Guy says:

    Judith Miller, Free At Last

    Judith Miller was just released.
Interestingly, she was released after a telephone conversation with the Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, Libby. She left the jail late Thursday afternoon. As Eschaton commented, there was a typo, and it …

  9. Freep this! says:

Judy’s out! She’s gonna sing! More ham sammiches to be indicted to lunch!

A special appetizer! Pictures of the freepazoids on the 24th! All 40 of them! What a bunch of dorks!

  10. Freep this! says:

    Libby was the source!

  11. Ryan Neat says:

I’ve never seen so many MAN TITTIES in all my life (and I mean that literally and figuratively!). Wow what a pathetic wad of poop that crew is!

  12. nobody says:

Headline disappears from WaPo. Curiouser and curiouser.

  13. Skid says:

Now what is up BushCo’s sleeve? Something here stinks, and its not just Ms. Miller’s reporting and choice of associates. Did it take this long for Libby, Rove and Bolton to devise a scheme?

    I have a bad feeling about this…

  14. Clyde the Ripper says:

She got out because Cheney got new knees! He sure as poopoo is doing his bionic $6million thing now! See http://www.storytimedolls.net/mmff.html

  15. Andrew says:

I don’t see it on WaPo, NewYork Times or CNN.com…

Maybe it’s not true? Vicious rumor? Practical Joke?

  16. Andrew says:

Ok they just showed her leaving the jail on CNN so I guess I believe it now. They just said she called her “source” but they didn’t say it was Libby.

  17. Marie says:

#9 All I can say is WOW! What a weird collection!

  18. Marie says:

Libby has been identified as the source. NYT. + Phil. Enq.

  19. nobody says:

I don’t like it. Something smells. Do they think they’ve found a way to bamboozle Fitzgerald? Is Libby going to take the fall? I tell ya’, they’re up to no good.

  20. Deck says:

They were advised to get it all out now. Dump (release) all documents with bad news, just stop stonewalling, becase there is no point in it. All the dirty laundry is going to come out in the wash. The Abu Grhaib photos, Judy, everything. I forget who I heard advise this one of the networks. It was Pat Buchanan or Charlie Cook, but the point is, they are going to let it all hang out and hope that we have short memories. Stonewalling anymore is going to hurt them in 2006. There is the hope that the next supreme court nominee, a right winger, and the ensuing fiight over that, will obscure all this, and work to their advantage. That’s it.

  21. Chewbacca says:

Let’s see, W said he would fire the leaker, then he said he’s fire the leaker if a crime was committeed…. Libby works for Cheney, I believe–and W works for Cheney (deep breath) …How can W fire a co-worker? No, wait, maybe W works for Rove…and Brownie resigned but still works for FEMA…and Chertoff, an Israeli citizen, is working where this week? and doing what? Gawd, makes my head spin!

  22. Jennty says:

#22 Yea, I can see that tactic. Get all the shit out now so it will be forgotten by the time of the 06 elections. It is, unfortunatly, a viable tactic with the Sheeple we have in our electorate. Collective memory is the size of a gnat. It’s the only reason the Repubs have gotten away with half the crap they pull. It’s sad. I pray it doesn’t work, but after watching what these bastards have been getting away with for the last 25 years, I don’t hold out much hope. If Nixon had the pansy press we have now, he’d a got away with Watergate, just like Ronnie did in Iran-Contra.
