Breakin’ the law.

By Judd Legum on Oct 1st, 2005 at 10:56 am

Breakin’ the law.

“Federal auditors said on Friday that the Bush administration violated the law by buying favorable news coverage of President Bush’s education policies, by making payments to the conservative commentator Armstrong Williams.”

  2. SpudgeBoy says:

    Sweet!

I always thought something more should come out of the “News” pieces that were made. This is more good news heaped up on top of the already staggering pile of good news the right has handed us this week.

  3. Zwack says:

    And the outcome is…

    That they’ll ignore this…

    Sad but true.

he takes great pride in breaking our laws and the international laws ,yet noone seems to want to do anything about him….
Lets Impeach The S***b**** and get our Country Back ..

  5. Patriot says:

In the history books this will be just as bad as the illegal war. This is Stalinesque.

  6. reasew says:

Smoking gun..bush signed contract..bush broke the law..he has committed a crime..”The President, … of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
Is it a high crime? Inappropriate use of funds; use of government funds for personal gain…
A CEO would be in danger of losing his job and/or going to jail if he inappropriately used company funds for personal and illegal purposes. The CEO president should be held to this standard.

  7. Patriot says:

Rove is now working on the official portrait of Bush that we will be graciously awarded to hang in every room of every building in every town and city in the good old free USA.

  8. Patriot says:

“He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderatanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.”-Orwell

It is time we returned the favor! But it was a very good week!

o the shrub broke the law. We know that, now what?

  11. samzidat says:

” Today, in George Bush’s America, the media are more and more coming to resemble Pravda, Isvestia and Gostelradio during the Stalin regime…essentially owned by ten giant conglomerates”

“A University of Maryland study recently disclosed that a majority of Bush supporters in the 2004 election believed numerous falsehoods…These false beliefs testify to the failure of the news media to report accurate information to the public.”

My father used to say, that there are two kinds of people who can legitimately be conservatives Republicans.
    1. The rich, who profit by the status quo.
    2. The mentally impaired, now any Republicans reading this post may feel free to classify themselves

  14. Marie says:

    OK, Another Friday afternoon release.
They break the law — they lie, they reward cronies, they conspire; they invade countries, they break treaties; so what happens now? It will be just more of the same. They consider themselves above the law; “so what,” they say “wanna make something out of it?” they shrug, they sneer, then they smugly go about their daily business, knowing full well that while they are in control, there will be no meaningful consequences.
Until we rise up against them and hold them accountable for their crimes, nothing will change.

  15. Sharon Cox says:

I agree Marie and thank you for posting. Now what to do to make a definate impact and rally the sleeping americans.? ….Blessings

  16. Sharon Cox says:

Marie, on a diffrent thread you mention Tularemia, what is that.?…Blessings

  17. Bobo The Conservative Clown says:

I just found out that Bozo was a liebral! I had to change my name!

  18. Marie says:

Sharon, I answered the other post. It’s an airborne biohazard.

  19. Skid says:

This will be swept under the carpet like most everything else until we the villagers light our torches, grab our pitchforks and storm the castle walls. That’s when the corporate cronies will try to strangle us even further in order to protect their leader and investments.

  20. Daniel says:

They are STILL in business with Armstrong?? This government is even dumber than I had initially thought!

I figured they would continue paying people off, but I really didn’t expect them to go with someone who’s already been caught.

Now I’m not surprised if they decided to use Armstrong even after this massive Republican downfall with DeLay, Frist, etc. I mean, you would think that with all the troubles now, they wouldn’t dare try anything illegal right now. But it looks like they would.

Unfortunately however, I think they won’t have too much of a problem tricking the American people more. I was just reading Raw Story’s report on a Tom DeLay poll, and it’s not as if a majority of Americans think Tom DeLay did anything wrong.

    Have a look: http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Newsweek_Monday_39_percent_see_DeLay_1001.html

  21. Susan says:

Daniel, this statement from Raw is the very reason why the word Republican has become a very dirty word….

“78 percent in GOP want DeLay to stay

  22. mike says:

Not to make light of a serious story, but is the title of this post a reference to Judas Priest? That’s pretty cool (and I’m a dork…)

  23. Skid says:

  25. Ryan Neat says:

The remark that stuck with me the most was from the GAO report which said:

“In a blistering report, the investigators, from the Government Accountability Office, said the administration had disseminated “covert propaganda” in the United States, in violation of a statutory ban.”

COVERT PROPAGANDA clearly describes the Reichwing spin machine AND the MSM at this point. How sad they are that their message is soo poor they must lie and pay to have it presented.

  26. Susan says:

And too bad for them (Reichwing spin machine and MSM), nobody believes a word of their nonsense. (except the mentally challenged)

  27. Jesus Christ God of War says:

A “covert propaganda” campaign by Bush &Co? Color me surprised!

When will Americans WAKE UP and realize they’ve been duped?

Hold on. Wait a moment. It sems like they have woken up. Bush’s rating has now exceeded 66% AGAINST him. Take a look at Zoby’s polling site on-line.

Are there enough law enforcers left in the country who don’t worship Bush &Co. to be available to arrest and jail the GOP goons who currently occupy the Monkey Palace? I sure hope so. We will need to call upon their services shortly.

  28. Jesus Christ God of War says:

A “covert propaganda” machine? Is this Germany 1936?

Gads, it sometimes feels like it! :-(

  29. gary jarvis says:

The main stream media may have gone past the tipping point in their exuberance to redefine the meaning of democracy. Why can’t they see that this pursuit of power in this fashion leads to a blind alley.
Are they prepared for the confrontation after they are trapped?

  30. Keith H. says:

Hell, I thought they bought all of their news coverage.
I mean, if you watch it for a minute, there’s no doubt who’s payin’ for it.

  31. xristim says:

When it was first revealed that Administration-packaged “news stories” were being used without disclaimer, the President (1) denied it was happening, then (2) said it wouldn’t happen any more, then (3) said the legal eagles said it wasn’t illegal if there was a disclaimer — then apparently proceeded to continue the practice, still without disclaimer in many instances.

The Chief of the Counterfeit Compassionate Conservative And Oh Yeah By The Way Conspicuously Caucasian Caucus and his Dither of Dolts hold us in such contempt that they see no bar to their doing as they damned well please. They all have skills as creative liars but have a fatal failing — they sometimes forget to coordinate the tale, and they sometimes forget what they said (individually or collectively) the day before yesterday.

So long as a large enough segment of the population continues to sit like bobble-head dolls, nodding before their TV screens, dutifully tuned to Fox, the Chief and his Dither ARE, in fact, able to get away with it…for very long periods of time.

    They’re a truly scary lot.

  32. Innocent Bystander says:

I guess the propanganda was so heavy, it broke the catapult. When it comes to State Media, Stalin and Mao had nothing on these guys.
