How can Bush pick a person that was not a judge? Who is this Harriett Miers? I guess it is who you know not what you know.

  2. Andrew says:

The supreme court is different from other courts. Not all justices have been judges. Many have been senators. Chief Justice Taft was best known for being a former president.
    Some have been Attorneys General.

Rehnquist was never a judge, but was a very capable justice.

A Justice should be a good writer, researcher and philosopher; and be familiar with how laws are made.

Miers may have other flaws, but not being a judge is not one of them.

  3. Bobby says:

Miers has been shrub’s atty for a long time. She knows where the bodies are buried. Maybe she does the Jim Beam runs in the middle of the night for him.

  4. Zookeeper says:

    No paper trail…

  5. BalRog says:

#2: Your point about Rehnquist is well-taken, but the bit about Taft falls a little flat.

In point of fact, Taft had a long and distinguished judicial career before he ever entered politics. Besides that, it was widely known before he ever ran for Prez that he *really* wanted to be a Supreme Court Justice. Famous quote as Cheif Justice: “I don’t remember that i ever was President.”

  6. Pablo in Mexico says:

This woman does not need a mud fence to hide behind – she is the mud fence.

A shrub loyalist and apologist, the shrub want her on the court for one purpose and one purpose only.

She will be a sure vote for the hiding of his presidential papers. I doubt if any of the shrubs doings will become public.

A library to him, shit it would be empty. He dont even know what a library is. Maybe Laura does, but not he.

You see, Bush knows that after his failed presidency is over people, who were formerly friends and allies, will be trashing him, in other words telling the truth aabout his pitiful administration. He does not want any documents available to any of these people. Hence Harriet Miers.

  7. Jim Crow Laws Employment Law Us Supreme Court says:

Jim Crow Laws Employment Law Us Supreme Court

I can not agree with you in 100% regarding some thoughts, but you got good point of view
