Bush Plays Hide-and-Seek on Choice
Today, at President Bush’s Rose Garden press conference, a reporter asked him whether he ever discussed the issue of abortion at any point over the course of his long relationship with Harriet Miers. Bush ducked the question, saying: “I have no litmus test. It’s also something I’ve consistently said. There is no litmus test.”
When pressed by the reporter about the specific issue of whether he ever talked about abortion with Miers, he answered with an exaggerated untruth: “Not to my recollection have I ever sat down with her.”
Just a few minutes later in the same press conference, Bush said:
And I know her. I know her heart. I know what she believes. She knows exactly the kind of judge I’m looking for. And I know exactly the kind of judge she’ll be.
We already know that as president of the Texas State Bar in 1993, Miers urged the American Bar Association to reconsider its pro-abortion-rights stance. Her own former campaign manager said Miers opposed abortion rights while running for Dallas City Council in 1989. In 1991, during his confirmation hearings, Clarence Thomas suggested he had never had any discussions on the issue of Roe v. Wade. Forgive us for being skeptical, but why is Bush so afraid of disclosing his Supreme Court nominee’s views on abortion?

Hell, George probably didn’t even know Ken Lay well enough to have any idea what was going on in Enron. Osama was probably the only member of the Bin Laden family that George DIDN’T know most of his life or do business with.

When Clarence Thomas was in law school that was bar none the most debated topic and he denied speaking about abortion. Ever. And we all know what a jerk he turned out to be. Same with Roberts. We let them get away with throwing up a stealth pick. Never again. When she invokes attorney client privilege we’ve got to nail her to the cross on it. “What is she trying to hide?” should be the mantra.

MIERS IS FOR FULL CIVIL RIGHTS FOR GAYS AND LESBIANS IN 1989 – Miers filled out a questionaire from the Lesbian/Gay Political Coalition of Dallas while running for the Dallas City Council in 1989. In it, she supported full civil rights for gays and lesbians and backed AIDS education programs for the city of Dallas.

Also thought it was interesting, my cable TV on several channels had adds running to give Bushes choice an up or down vote 2 full day’s before he chose this Miers person. Listening to his latest sweet talk,Bush sounded like he was telling mama about his lover. Sounded sickening. The Repub. mafia is working over time on this one. Just because he threw out a woman is not enough reason to pass her, but what bad news awaits if she is not passed and the indictments are slow….Blessings
