David Safavian, the Bush administration’s former chief procurement official, was indicted today by a federal grand jury on five felony counts of “making false statements and obstructing investigations into high-powered Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff,” the AP reports.
OOPS!
October 5th, 2005 at 5:28 pmIsn’t this old news (meaning I thought I read this last week)?
October 5th, 2005 at 5:29 pmNo, he did the perp walk two weeks ago, this is the indictment resulting from that arrest.
October 5th, 2005 at 5:31 pmI am honestly amazed at how corrupt the GOP is.
October 5th, 2005 at 5:33 pmI mean, yes I lived through Nixon, but still,
so much corruption and as always there is likely
much, much more that has been thus far effectively
covered up. Have these people no shame?
It is an embarrassment to the American people.
The laws are biased against lawbreakers!
October 5th, 2005 at 5:39 pmI believe this corruption is SO much worse than anything Nixon did. It’s seems deeper ingrained and more widespread. And no one take responsiblity for themselves anymore.
October 5th, 2005 at 5:40 pmWow. So, supporters of King George, just how corrupt do they need to be before you reassess your loyalties. Eh? LOL!!! :-) :-) :-)
This is serious s**t. He’ll not go down alone (unless Karl is the only other “man” in the room). David will sing like a bird. Count on it.
Impeach Bush NOW! And make sure there’s a paper trail come next election.
October 5th, 2005 at 5:40 pm“Mr. President…” [Cough Cough] “Pardon Me”
“OK”
October 5th, 2005 at 5:46 pmJCGW,
“Impeach Bush NOW! And make sure there’s a paper trail come next election.”
I’m thinking this is what Miers and Roberts will help
October 5th, 2005 at 5:48 pmthe Cheney administration avoid.
#9 – afterthought: EXACTLY! Miers is beholden to corporate interests. Roberts is just another Bush crony.
We the People stand for this? It’s all sooooooo sick.
Why aren’t people taking to the street the way the French have? Maybe we need to go out on strike and shut down the transportation systems in the US to get our “representatives” attention long enough to make them realize what needs to happen.
Impeach Bush NOW!
October 5th, 2005 at 5:58 pmYes JCGW,
October 5th, 2005 at 6:06 pmI would have thought the people would be on to
it by now, but maybe instead I am understanding
how the German people stood by while so many
vile things occured.
“History teaches that grave threats to liberty
often come in times of urgency, when constitutional
rights seem too extravagant to endure.” – Thurgood Marshall
#9,10,11
October 5th, 2005 at 6:12 pmThe corruption is growing far too wide to contain under the White House roof. We must write letters to the editors, we must contact our representatives, we must do all we can to rid the nation of Bush & Co.
Thurgood Marshall was right — the the Bushies are following the history lesson. This IS how Hitler was able to rise to power.
Here’s a handy collection of Republican scandal resources:

October 5th, 2005 at 6:12 pm#9 – Yes, one wonders whether her only relevant(to Bush, anyway) qualification for the position is that she has been both his personal and professional attorney.
October 5th, 2005 at 6:36 pmRemember that the blacksmith bends the iron with repeated blows of his hammer, then he heats the iron again. Persistence and unrelenting pressure is the key.
October 5th, 2005 at 7:04 pm(Crisis Papers)
The rumor mills are flying that 22 indictments are coming down soon in the Plame case.
Rove has been absent from presidential functions the past week or so.
In the 22 count, I hope that Bush and Cheney are among them.
Roberts is already showing his bias for the administration. In the current right to die case he pounded the attorney for the people of the state of Oregon, but only asked the government attorneys 2 uestions.
Maybe after all these indictments, we can impeach the supreme court.
October 5th, 2005 at 7:35 pmjesus, afterthought, and marie – not sure where I stand on this – i’d like to think i would be a part of it – not sure how much good it will do, but i wondered if you’ve heard of this:
October 5th, 2005 at 8:01 pmhttp://worldcantwait.org/
might be worth a look see…
A little YaHOOOOOOOOOO, the big one I will save for the rest of the regime…..Blessings
October 5th, 2005 at 8:49 pm#18, I have heard about the 11/2 date and plan to investigate it further, probably do my little part. Wouldn’t it be great if that national demonstration day falls right after numerous indictments are handed down against this administration?
October 5th, 2005 at 10:38 pmTick…tick…tick…
October 6th, 2005 at 9:23 amThe question is will Safavian roll and squeal his weasly black guts out like the dude who gave intelligence secrets to the Israeli’s? Will he be the first domino to bring down this corrupt line? I hope so, but I expect this gang of criminals we have running the country to try something to get out of it.
I keep hoping that the American Justice system is still alive, and that she’ll kick these SOBs in the chones.
October 6th, 2005 at 9:44 amI figured they would probably sacrifice Abramoff. He isn’t an elected official and garners no votes. However, they have been really slow to do this and the repubs will always roll on one another to save their own fanny. Just no honor among theives anymore. They are one step below the mob.
I suppose there are heaps and piles of dirt Abramoff has on these criminals. Maybe he will come out to save his own fanny. But then, him making a killing again as a lobbyist seems not too likely. Who would trust him anymore with secrets?
Tisk tisk, it is SO HARD being a crook these days.
October 6th, 2005 at 10:11 amSquealing will occur. As said before, no honor. Secondly, there are no major repercussions for snitching. Its not like you’re going to get domed at the Olive Guarden if you sell out some low-level thugs in the money-laundering scheme.
