But at least democracy is on the march in Iraq!! While we burn borrowed dollars (from other non-Iraq war supporting countries) American is becoming a third world country. The haves and the have nothings. What a wonderfully compassionate prez. The terrorists have won and bushco doesn’t even know it…. As promised, they have destroyed America, perhaps not by physical attack, but by destroying the spirt and hope of millions to have a good life and be sucessful and bushco was their agent of destruction.
You can tell where his loyalities are. The poor gets screwed and we spend $200 million a day of our taxpayers money on an illigal war. This is very sad.
We need to take America back from these cronies.
How about we don’t build the “bridge to nowhere” in Alaska. How about cutting the other 5,999 pieces of pork in the transportation bill.
A long time ago when I was 19 or 20 I found myself with no home or job and I used food stamps to get by until the situation was fixed. If I didn’t have the food stamps, I would have starved.
How does somebody get a job or find a new house while they are starving?
Food stamps are a teensy tiny spec on the budget of this country and these jerks want to cut them.
It appears that this is the type of country
the majority of American voters want.
There may be some fraud in the recent elections,
but clearly a large number of people actually
want this sort of government.
This is what I find really, really sad.
As Walter Cronkite has said, Americans at this point in history seem incapable of choosing the right people to represent them in Congress. Too busy, too lazy to do the research, who knows why this is true. Leaders should be insisting on cutting the pork from the energy bill.
All good posts, the one about the bridges to no where make’s me think that by the time this bunch of liers and thieves are done there won’t be any people up in Alaska to use those bridges. Another off point thing is the request from Bush to use the guard and declare martial law with the guise he might need them if the pandemic does happen. Just a thought here folk’s but the way these nazis are they could create the pandemic and then control all the rest of us that survive with that very martial law. If any one of these things happen we will be unable to inpeach or anything else. Rove’s brain is working over time these day’s. These guy’s need to be jailed now….Blessings
#10 Sharon, Let’s hope we don’t have “MARTIAL LAW”. This is very scary. We won’t have any blogs on the internet. I am sure they the right wing Repubs nuts would like to shut us up.
Feeding the destitute means less than getting rid of things that discomfort the mega-rich like the estate tax, the capital gains tax, the retarded trillion plus tax cut, and on and on. The right wing ultra-religious psychos are forgetting something: Jesus didn’t say you could treat the poor like living garbage, he just said they’d always be with you.
They ought to read James or Jeremiah. You know favoritism? Well, the big guy doesn’t care for that. At all.
Mary,In response to your diffrent posts, I agree we need to take back our country, but it is taking to long and a lot is going on that is preventing that process. Next who are we going to get to help us run it.? I don’t know about Feingold or any of the wannabees right now. We aren’t getting much from our own party these days, infact I think they are all on vacation. What’s with that.?.And finelly Bush wants to have the power to install martial law, at will, using the bird flu as the possible case for that.He asked for it today…..Blessings
Mr. Compassionate Conservative is a phony.
He likes to talk about his faith and compassion, but he is a spoiled rotten rich kid who never grew up, and now he has enormous power.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone to think that he and his party would cut programs for the poor, the sick, the children and the elderly in order to advance the Republican agenda.
Poor people don’t count. Kanye West was right.
“Since 2000, the ranks of the poor have increased year by year by almost 5.5 million in total. Even optimists see little prospect that the number will shrink soon despite a renewed debate on poverty prompted by searing television images which laid bare a fact of American life rarely exposed to global view.”
This is what republican values bring – this and:
“Poverty is a universal problem, as is inequality. The world’s 500 richest people, according to U.N. statistics, have as much income as the world’s poorest 416 million.”
And this…
“For the third consecutive year the rich got richer. In this, the 24th annual edition of The Forbes 400, the collective net worth of America’s wealthiest climbed $125 billion, to $1.13 trillion.
All but 26 people on our roster are billionaires. ”
When the rich keep getting richer, and the poor keep getting poorer – that’s achieved through selfish exploitation and irresponsible cronyism and banana republic mismanagement! These kind of social injustices lead to revolutions, but then again the sort of people who exploit the poor tend to have no allegiance to country or people, and would simply try to ‘leave with their money’ if pressed. This is why they are usually so socially dangerous to civilizations… The ‘wealthy looters’, tend do to the irreparable harm to societies, not the poor ones…
We can not stop our attempt to wake up the public, indeed the world, that untill every one here and in the world are no longer hungry, we are all poor and hungry. In body or spirit…Blessings
We must not rescind tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%! Even with reconstruction of the Gulf coast, exploding deficits, war in Iraq and Afrghanistan and the need for social services, tax cuts are more important.
I guess
When people are desperate due to the cuts in program funding that Bush proposes, he will need an excuse to impose martial law. He’s already setting the stage for it with the anticipated bird flu pandemic.
The military has announced that they are relaxing standards for enlistees. They don’t need a high school education, and if they don’t quite pass the mental test, that’s OK too.
Now, picture our streets full of desperate citizens and armed military troops who would have (up till now) been rejected for service.

October 5th, 2005 at 1:58 pmIt seems one way to get funding for domestic programs would be to start a civil war.
October 5th, 2005 at 1:59 pmBy slashing the food programs for the poor, Bushco plans to save money by reducing the surplus populations, ala Scrooge.

October 5th, 2005 at 3:10 pm#10 – Regarding the pork in the transportation bill, here’s what was on TP regarding those who aren’t willing to turn it back to the people: http://thinkprogress.org/2005/09/20/chief-porker/
Another frightening item regarding a pandemic, we’re one step closer to letting the bugs out: http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/conditions/10/05/1918.flu.pandemic.ap/index.html
I don’t trust Washington with this one…
