When President Bush nominated John Roberts for the Supreme Court, I was excited. Finally, a pro-life nominee at a time when we controlled the Senate and could assure his confirmation!

But then, John Roberts, now Chief Justice John Roberts, failed to meet my, and I expect your, expectations. He had no record on the life of the unborn. I thought this was cowardly of Bush who had told us all that he would nominate Justices in the mold of Thomas and Scalia and then when he had the chance, did not do that.

Or maybe he did. I donâ€™t know about you but this â€œyouâ€™ll be impressed with himâ€ wink, wink business isnâ€™t nearly as bold as I expected.

And now he gets another chance to nominate a pro-life Justice and again, he goes for a weak option in Harriet Miers.

This â€œtrust me, wink winkâ€ business isnâ€™t going to work. Is President Bush ashamed of being pro-life? Why does he nominate Justices that are clearly too ashamed to be honest with the public.

Clearly, President Bush has waned from his faith and he needs our help. Please pray that President Bush finds the courage and conviction to show the liberals that he is boldly pro-life and confirm to us all that Harriet Miers is pro-life.

Finally something has united both the right and left! It seems no one likes Miers. Her only apparent qualification is that she has devoted too much of her adult life to the President. Of course, presidents of all parties have put cronies on the SC bench occasionally for over 200 years but that doesn’t mean we should accept this one. Roberts at least was exceptionally qualified. Maybe both sides can agree to defeat Miers and get a qualified candidate. It won’t be someone of the idealogical tilt you want but at least they can have some actual experience.

Darn it Smedley, you guys picked the same day as us. We thought Nov.10th would be the day where we would show our support for the War effort. We plan on showing this support by making sure we all makes it to work that day, even if we are a little ill. No car pooling either, weâ€™ll all be driving individual vehicles wherever possible. Oh yeah, and we will just keep doing this every day too, until you guys start to pay attention and listen to reason.

War Protest – Nov 10 2005 Take a day off! â€“ Please Read

If you feel, as the majority of Americans and people throughout the world do, that the war in Iraq is wrong, and you wish you had a way to show the Bush Administration, the Government of the United States, and the world, how you feel about it, then join us in our world wide walk out on November 10th 2005.

Show the world how you feel, and just how many of us feel this way. Letâ€™s drive the point home by taking away from them their most precious item; money.

On November 10th 2005, unless you hold a position which people rely upon in the event of an emergency (you work at a hospital, a firemen, policemen etc), donâ€™t go to work. Try not to drive your car; donâ€™t watch T.V.; donâ€™t use the internet. Stay at home. Read a book. Play with your kids. Engage in a hobby.

Plan a vacation day at work. Call in sick. Use your best judgment on how to take this day off.

If we donâ€™t get their attention this way, weâ€™ll just do it again, until we do.

If the people speak, and speak together, they have to listen.
