In the CBS poll that has Bush’s approval at 37%, another suprising figure sticks out. Asked to specify America’s most important problem, more respondents pointed to President Bush than to terrorism:
U.S. MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM
War in Iraq
Now 18%
9/2005 13%Economy and jobs
Now 16%
9/2005 14%Gas/oil crisis
Now 5%
9/2005 9%President Bush
Now 5%
9/2005 5%Terrorism
Now 4%
9/2005 6%
With numbers like that, you wonder why they don’t just pull out a trumped-up terror threat against a major American city.
People, wake the fvck up.
October 7th, 2005 at 12:51 pmThat is funny shit.
So, speaking of using a terror threat to take the lime light off of Karl Rove, did anybody hear today that Washington said that they just passed the terror information, but felt that it was “doubtfully credible.” Meaning it was a bunk report to make people all jumpy.
October 7th, 2005 at 12:51 pmA ray of hope: The problem isn’t Bush, but the people who elected him — and the scales are falling from their eyes!
October 7th, 2005 at 12:52 pm#1 Trumped up indeed: “A discarded soda bottle filled with an unidentified green liquid was found at the station during morning rush hour.”
Since when is a discarded bottle of Mountain Dew in the subway even noticable, much less a cause for panic?
October 7th, 2005 at 12:54 pm#4–when your numbers include a 37% approval rating….
talk about crying wolf….this is absurd.
October 7th, 2005 at 12:55 pmThere was nothing to this non-event. All signs point to a bunk political move.
October 7th, 2005 at 12:57 pmFully expect another major disaster any day now. The Cheney adminstration can’t risk these poll numbers for long, it may expose their utter fraudulence.
October 7th, 2005 at 12:57 pmThe numbers couldn’t have happened to a better administration. They deserve these numbers. They really do.
October 7th, 2005 at 12:58 pmThese numbers mean we’ll soon see a 500 billion dollar spending bill to fight the ‘war on bush’.
October 7th, 2005 at 1:24 pmCan we dance in the street? The poll ratings keeps going down, down, down.
October 7th, 2005 at 1:36 pmDamn buckfish, do you have to post that on EVERY thread?
I mean, give us a LITTLE credit.
I’m not sure if those here who are saying this is no big are defending bushco or just don’t care. Let me pose you all a question:
October 7th, 2005 at 1:37 pmIs this systematic & organized extortion/ransom money laundering (from willing corporations no less) less damaging to a democratically elected government than a president recieving blowjobs from an intern? Yes or no please & why.
It’s raining indictments…
Looks like the start of a fun weekend — not only is the new Wallace & Grommit movie opening today (with a cracklin’ 95% approval rate at Rottentomatoes.com ), but the conservative loonies are just getting more and more troubles heaped on their …
October 7th, 2005 at 1:41 pmkindness,
Who cares about a blowjob. I think that anybody who thinks Clinton should have been impeach for a blowjob needs a blowjob. Our government trying to impeach Clinton over a blowjob made our country a laughing stock around the world.
October 7th, 2005 at 1:42 pmWould be nice to claim people more worried about Bush than terrorism. Sadly, given the poll’s error of +/-4%, we get
Bush: 1 to 9%
Terror: 0 to 8%
kind of a wash.
October 7th, 2005 at 1:47 pmWhether it is “more” or “almost as much” it still states that Bush is a big fricking problem. No need to split hairs.
October 7th, 2005 at 1:51 pmSpudge,
“I think that anybody who thinks Clinton should have been impeach for a blowjob needs a blowjob.”
…now that’s funny!
October 7th, 2005 at 1:54 pmJOB APPROVAL: 37%???????????????
That means 37% of Americans remain asleep. To those still in a stupor, have some java and WAKE UP!
And watch 12 minute preview of “Rove’s War”.

October 7th, 2005 at 2:08 pmSpudge Boy – I’m with you. I just wanted to see what the righties think. My guess is that if their overlords don’t tell them what to think, they don’t know what to think beyond the reflex liberal bad, conservative good gurgle.
October 7th, 2005 at 2:14 pmAnd 45% considered “other” to be the biggest problem. Just what might that be?
October 7th, 2005 at 2:21 pmTrue that.
Here are your republican talking points for today:
Guns=good
Beer=good
War=good
Stealing money=who cares
Abortion=bad
Religion=good
Muslim religion=bad
Death penalty=good
Corruption=who cares
Insider trading=who cares
Pot=death penalty
October 7th, 2005 at 2:23 pmSpudge #21 – Important to point out that Religion to the Bushies is only good if it doesn’t contradict The Holy Word – of Bush, that is.
They have concerns about people of many, many faiths, including many Christian Denominations.
And, let’s not forget just how terrified they are of agnosts!
October 7th, 2005 at 2:43 pmkindness #12. Sexual activities of the President has no place in things political. It cost our nation dearly to entertain such discussion during the Clinton Bashing years…
And, by the way, it seems many conservatives have made Clinton Bashing #1 on their “to do” lists again recently. What is that all about?
I wasn’t a big fan… but jeeze!!! Get real.
October 7th, 2005 at 2:51 pmThom,
The righties are bashing clinton again because they got nothing else. It’s a clear sign of desperation — which I laughingly point out everytime they do it. They are under 2 mistaken ideas: 1. Anything bush or the repubs do that is unethical or illegal doesn’t count because Clinton was worse, and 2. That we give a rat’s ass about Clinton. They seem to think that bashing clinton will make us throw or keyboards on the ground in a rage, but that is pretty laughable. Most of us don’t worship clinton like they worship bush.
And Kindness,
If bush got a few blowjobs in his office, I think he, and we, would be a lot better off.
October 7th, 2005 at 3:02 pmI bet the 37% have such a specific agenda (anti-abortion, prayer in school, lower taxes, no welfare programs, etc.) that even a complete failure like bush will continue to have their support. He’s the only chance they have to move their agenda. They don’t sweat the fact that he’s a total failure in every aspect of managing the country, it’s just part of the package you get with bushco.
October 7th, 2005 at 3:12 pmJamie #24
It would be a sign of desperation if they weren’t so
egocentric. They don’t have the perspective to be desperate.
They don’t react to polls unless FOX hands them a favorable one. They don’t react to protests because they really believe their way is the only way. And, they believe they are accountable to none of us.
October 7th, 2005 at 3:41 pmBush himself is the big problem. With his spiky booz soaked brain cells and coke habit he has this “my way or the highway” attitude, he devided the country with “your either with us or against us”. The nut bag forms conclusions with out fact’s, always has, then looks to his yes people to try and make up facts. He is a looney and many of the repubs. are as well….Blessings
October 7th, 2005 at 4:47 pmRead between the lines. The distraction helps Mayor Bloomburg, because he was getting negative press for ducking a debate in Harlem. But the diversion does not help the President this time. Because the source of the terror threat is from Iraq–and that’s new. That is why Washington is poo-pooing it. A domestic attack originating from Iraq would be a complete repudiation of the “fly paper” theory in Iraq. It is only a matter of time before the blow-back from our invasion of Iraq comes home to the US, just Russia and Chechnya. The administration is just desperately hitting the snooze button.
October 7th, 2005 at 7:09 pmWar Protest – Nov 10 2005 Take a day off! – Please Read
If you feel, as the majority of Americans and people throughout the world do, that the war in Iraq is wrong, and you wish you had a way to show the Bush Administration, the Government of the United States, and the world, how you feel about it, then join us in our world wide walk out on November 10th 2005.
Show the world how you feel, and just how many of us feel this way. Let’s drive the point home by taking away from them their most precious item; money.
On November 10th 2005, unless you hold a position which people rely upon in the event of an emergency (you work at a hospital, a firemen, policemen etc), don’t go to work. Try not to drive your car; don’t watch T.V.; don’t use the internet. Stay at home. Read a book. Play with your kids. Engage in a hobby.
Plan a vacation day at work. Call in sick. Use your best judgment on how to take this day off.
If we don’t get their attention this way, we’ll just do it again, until we do.
If the people speak, and speak together, they have to listen.
Please email this to as many of your friends and colleagues as you wish/can.
October 7th, 2005 at 7:40 pmTake the war protest thread. Put it in an email, send it to your friends.
Post it on Craigslist in the Community/Politics section.
Title it: War Protest – November 10, 2005 – Take a day off!
We can’t post the same thread more then once, and there are only so many ways to say it.
Post it on all your blogs!! GET THE WORD OUT!!
October 7th, 2005 at 8:06 pmDarn it Smedley, you guys picked the same day as us. We thought Nov.10th would be the day where we would show our support for the War effort. We plan on showing this support by making sure we all makes it to work that day, even if we are a little ill. No car pooling either, we’ll all be driving individual vehicles wherever possible. Oh yeah, and we will just keep doing this every day too, until you guys start to pay attention and listen to reason.

October 7th, 2005 at 10:58 pmIn the eyes of the world the biggest terrist of them all is GEORGE W. BUSH.
October 8th, 2005 at 9:33 amOkay, feel free to look like a dick, Terry.
October 8th, 2005 at 10:17 amYou do realize that only about 40 percent of Republicans and 30 percent of Indys/Dems support the war, right? I’m not saying you’re a dick, just that a lot of people will think you’re a total goon. It could get pretty hostile.
“In the eyes of the world the biggest terrist of them all is GEORGE W. BUSH.
Comment by Pablo in Mexico — October 8, 2005 @ 9:33 am”
Paul, Thank you for concisely demonstrating the general stupidity of Progressives.
October 8th, 2005 at 3:35 pmWhere were these slow learners last November when it counted?
October 8th, 2005 at 4:20 pm#36
Thanks for once again proving just how stupid and blind and deaf you are.
I am the International Marketing Manager at a large technology company. Pablo is right on the money, whether you choose to believe the truth is your own choice.
The world is very angry with Bush right now. They don’t like him one bit.
If you choose to wrap yourself in the comfort of thinking what Pablo is saying is incorrect, that is your own stupidity.
Have anice day moron.
October 8th, 2005 at 5:09 pmBush’s call for a military role during national disasters or a possible flu-epidemic quaratine role strikes of an attempt to prepare for martial law in this country. sound far-fetched……just start thinking about it. the chips are falling in place and the bush administration is not finished with their agenda.
October 8th, 2005 at 9:00 pmThanks SPUDGEBOY for the backup. Aphrodite needs to change her diaper again, its been about two weeks. Too much shit does start to stink.
I live in Mexico and you ought to hear the comments on Bush. They all think that his is a terrist. They dont like his buddy Fox either.
The Mexican elections are in 2006 and they are having their nominating elections going on now. The Fox party, called PAN has yet to get a person on the ballot in any city, state or national referendum to date.
The PAN party is the party of the rich catholics in this country, and they have failed miserably to fulfill their promises of a better life for the people of their country.
Sounds a little like Bushlandia, does it not?
October 9th, 2005 at 10:45 am#39 – Hola Paul – As our resident “expert” on all things “south of the border” please tell us ALL about the PRI – they were in power for approx 75 years and fostered the corrupt political and drug cartel machines so prevalent (and deadly) today. PAN is just as bad – both parties have contributed to the deadly corruption of the political culture. Don’t believe me – google for information which relays the fact that Mexico is one of the deadliest environments for newspaper publishers and honest cops. Adios!

October 11th, 2005 at 1:13 amPondering a better and braver America…“You can’t call it terror if you’re not afraid of it.”
…Bush boasts endlessly that “freedom is on the march.†But it looks as if the only place democracy in America is marching is toward oblivion. Bush plays origami with the constitution and we stand back and let him because we are very afraid. People died for these liberties and we hand them over to a rank amateur who couldn’t find WMD or Osama or a rat in his own inner circle. That scares the bejabbers out of me.
FDR led us out of a depression, conquered the hideous evil of Nazism and inspired our “greatest generation,†even as he receded into a wheelchair. I would like to suggest that Bush channel FDR’s “nothing to fear but fear†message, but the sad reality is that he couldn’t shine Roosevelt’s shoes. Bush’s cache is cooked. He can’t even channel the 9-11 Bush anymore…

October 11th, 2005 at 12:38 pmTHIS JUST IN – - Osama’s #2, al Zawahiri, just sent a letter to Zarqawi in Iraq. I will translate the relevant portion for you:
“My dear lieutenant – greetings! You are doing a good job, but we suggest you stop bombing the mosques and schools. We do not want luke-warm Muslims to turn against us with great ferocity. You are hurting our reputation. Our goal, with dear friends (and allies like “the Schmuck, Susan, etc. ad nauseum), is to pressure, and ultimately force, the removal of US forces from Iraq. (From my university studies in Egypt, I understand an old communist infidel applied the term “useful idiots” to these idiots.) After the removal of the US and “coalition” troops from Iraq, we will conduct a world-wide jihad against the infidels – it will be just a matter of time before we can achieve our ultimate goal- the destruction of Israel. Praise Allah.”
October 12th, 2005 at 1:14 pmBuckfush – What a GREAT sense of humour you have!!!!!!!!! Visited your hilarious website – bad news, Tom Monaghan (Dominoes Pizza is not losing sleep over your boycott.) But the MOST HILARIOUS assertion you make:
October 13th, 2005 at 5:32 pm“We will put conservative Republican economics on the same ash heap as we did communism.” AS WEEEE DID?!!!
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The father of modern Republican economics, Ronald Wilson Reagan was the reason communism fell. The only crying I saw when the Soviet Union collapsed was done by whiny “progressives” – who stupidly were convinces that the Soviets provided a watch-dog balance to the evil US. Buckfush – I had more respect for your arguments before you demonstrated your shallow lack of historic honesty
It’s sad that the environment is not even on the list or are we so oblivious so as to allow our water and air to be stolen by the ridiculous?
Are we addicted to the problem or the solution? What’s making us need so many drugs? Why are the health care costs so high?
