In July 2003,

“White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove told President Bush and others that he never engaged in an effort to disclose a CIA operative’s identity to discredit her husband’s criticism of the administration’s Iraq policy,” AP reports. Read what we already know about Rove’s involvement here.

why am i not surprised! it’s called PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY!!!

  3. Eric says:

it is a joke. corruption has taken hold and the people do not, can not, or will not see through the veil of deception. in this man’s same breath he will probably deny that he had anything to do with Ann Richards whisper campaign, or John McCain’s whisper campaign. Better yet, he will probably deny the planting of a bug by himself to influence the voters. then deny the leaking to the press and the FBI being used as chess piece in a political chess match. corruption has taken hold and corruption leads to dissolvement and a breakdown no matter what government, what religion, what side, or what country

  4. bunsk says:

“Hey, George, you know when we were discussing what to do about that Wilson guy? I never did that!”

  5. Sharon Cox says:

The Bush regime and Rove have declared war on the american people. We the people can unite and fight back, through peaceful means. Cut them at the pockets, no buy, conserve on our own and stop work day’s. We can do this and we can win. March, unite and get even with these liers and thieves……Blessings

  6. Audience says:

We found Dubya’s speech writer – ie, trying to convince the rubes to protect a group of criminals in power.

    http://www.ess.uwe.ac.uk/documents/stalin1.htm

Incidently, did anybody else notice how he dropped the fake ‘man of the people’ style of speaking on Thursday?

People have always said that he changed his speech after he lost his first election. But we should do a side-by-side comparison with the press conference this week and the Thurday speech, just on the rich prep from HBS trying to pass as a cowboy.

War Protest – Nov 10 2005 Take a day off! – Please Read

If you feel, as the majority of Americans and people throughout the world do, that the war in Iraq is wrong, and you wish you had a way to show the Bush Administration, the Government of the United States, and the world, how you feel about it, then join us in our world wide walk out on November 10th 2005.

Show the world how you feel, and just how many of us feel this way. Let’s drive the point home by taking away from them their most precious item; money.

On November 10th 2005, unless you hold a position which people rely upon in the event of an emergency (you work at a hospital, a firemen, policemen etc), don’t go to work. Try not to drive your car; don’t watch T.V.; don’t use the internet. Stay at home. Read a book. Play with your kids. Engage in a hobby.

Plan a vacation day at work. Call in sick. Use your best judgment on how to take this day off.

If we don’t get their attention this way, we’ll just do it again, until we do.

If the people speak, and speak together, they have to listen.

Please email this to as many of your friends and colleagues as you wish/can.

  8. Sharon Cox says:

Yah! I saw him and he looked more like a mad dictator than any speech I have ever seen. His sickning coment’s of Miers are getting to be to much for me, he sounds like he is trying to sell his mother the idea Miers is a saint or wonderful whore. Maybe both. His total comitment to the war is getting to me to. Lousy speech writer, who ever it is.. I’m for shut down of the country, marching and screaming. If the holiday sales dive, gas glut on the market and a few other things like that were done we could show our country and the world we can take our country back..Blessings

  9. Duplex Dude says:

We have seen reports, particularly after Hurricane Katrina, that President Bush’s aides are weary of giving her bad tidings.

Now, if that is true, one wonders how a President can be effective.

I can’t imagine that any occupant of the Oval Office would be so knowingly negligent like the President appeared to be the first few days after Katrina. It most likely points to ill advice and/or lack of truthful information from aides.

The Karl Rove debacle is yet another milestone along that same road.

Having said that, if aides are afraid of speaking the truth, it is of Bush’s own doing.

  10. Duplex Dude says:

I really meant “…giving him bad tidings.” LOL

  11. Zappatero says:

I guess the President thinks it’s OK that his staff lies to him. Willful ignorance is the word for him.

Ethics, accountability, responsibility — Republican values on parade.

  12. Joe Sixpack says:

Some of you lefties would suggest that the president’s main man is a lying little chickensh*t. Perhaps even make a reference that he is as lowdown and dirty as Cheney and Scooter Libby. Or call him a sneaky, unethical little bastard. Being a rightwinger myself I can’t say that.

But correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t it fun to watch him get bitch-slapped for a change?

  13. Jay says:

    Joe Six,

I get a kick out of all your posts, even though you’re obviously a staunch conservative ;) It’s especially entertaining when you engage the wingnuts. Keep up the good work.

  14. Marie says:

Bold lies! What purpose do they serve in continuing to deny this to the public? Do they think we will suddenly think that this last denial will change our minds?
The man is a slimy political hit man, protoge` of Lee Atwater.
Shut up, Karl. If you can’t tell the truth, shut up.

  15. SpudgeBoy says:

Hey everybody, did you guys see Bill Maher last night? OMFG Anne Coulter and Chris Hutchinson were ripping on Bush. And I don’t mean in a sneaking “we are trying to use reverse pyschology” way either. They were straight up calling him a moron.

Bsuh is finished. He has lost his zealots!

  16. afterthought says:

I know this will sound paranoid, but
as the GOP house of cards really starts
to fall, we better keep an eye our for
“crisis” induced martial law. They are
laying the groundwork using H5N1 and
Katrina. I would have never considered
such treason possible, but this crew
    has proven capable.
Tinfoil hat? Maybe, but look how far
we have traveled so far with this bunch.

  17. SpudgeBoy says:

    afterthought,

That wouldn’t surprise me one bit. That is whwne I will use my second ammendment rights. I have and will bear arms against any outside or inside foe. It is what I swore to do when I joined the military.

  18. Joe Sixpack says:

Thanks for the Bill Maher update, Spudge. I usually watch Bill Maher (just to keep myself up on what the
left is laughing about), but missed it last night. I’ll make sure to catch it. I bet you and the other shameless libs here enjoyed watching Ann Coulter tear into Bush. Us guys on the right wouldn’t think it so funny.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’ll bet you a frothy brew that Sean Hannity had a fit watching his punch tear into our leader. I mean lets face it, we may not be seeing Coulter any time soon on Fox News hawking a book.

I do have one serious question I can’t figure out. Does being anorexic make you a bitch, or being a bitch make you anorexic?

  19. fireonthemountain says:

At this point in the Bush Presidency it should be obvious. It is so easy to see through their plan. Rove will be indicted or implicated and this is the White House’s leak to distance the President.

  20. the Dane says:

    Hmmmmmm

what ‘the left” is laughing about…

    Let me see…

The entire Bush Administration and his presidency.

    That about covers it.

  21. SpudgeBoy says:

I had a huge smile on my face hearing Chris Hutchinson say “George Bush said ‘trust me.’ I trusted that al Qiada was connected to Saddam, I trusted him that Iraq had WMDs. I will NEVER trust him again.” that is not the exact quote, as I only saw it once, but it was pretty freaking close to that.

Other than Katrina, September and October of 2005 will go down in history as the greatest months ever.

  22. Skid says:

Watch ‘em all go back to clutching BushCo’s apron strings when the next “attack” on US soil is implemented. Is it just me or is it just a little too quiet here on the western front? Never underestimate corruption.

  23. Hank says:

Hey! I just heard on television that Boy George got caught with cocaine.

Oooops—Never mind. It was the other one.

  24. Marie says:

The Maher show was good last night –
Ann Coulter is p-o’ed at Bushie.
Andrew Sullivan, the blogger, was the main guy last night, as was Ben Affleck and Salman Rushdie. I don’t often agree with Sullivan, but he always makes a coherent argument that makes me think a little more. He was quite passionate last night, particularly about religion. Although I saw the show, I will catch the HBO rerun on Tuesday.
(Christopher Hitchens was the guy last week — I think he is a drunk.)

  25. Jon says:

Access a complete collection of the Rove/PlameGate articles, briefings, timelines, statutes and other materials here:

    “The Rove/PlameGate Scandal Center”

  26. Prometheus says:

Now, now. Drinking isn’t Hitch’s problem. He’s just a pompous ass and a chickenhawk, in both senses of the word. He likes young boys, too.

  27. katy says:

um…please excuse…i may be missing something – but, i watched maher last night and don’t remember hutchinson on the show…coulter, yes – jeesh…ick…
could you be confusing him with andrw sullivan?

and, was anyone else (pleasantly) surprised with ben affleck’s delivery of his opinions? …who knew? no offence meant, by the way……

  28. SpudgeBoy says:

    #26

Andrew Sullivan. Yes, That is who I was calling Chris Hutchinson. But, you are correct.

  29. Jamie says:

OMFG — This morning, my kid sister (she’s 15) and I dusted off our old copy of “Blazing Saddles” and enjoyed it thoroughly. When the scene came where we are introduced to Mel Brooks playing the governor — he’s wearing a jacket that says “GOV” on the back in big, white letters — my sister said, “OMG that’s bush!!!” Then we laughed about how bush should wear a jacket that says “PREZ” on the back.

Then I got to thinking. the GOV in “Blazing Saddles” IS bush!!! The AG, “Hedley LaMarr” actually controls everything — including the gov — because the governor is a cross-eyed idiot. Switch the gov with the prez and the AG with the VP — AND THAT’S OUR OVAL OFFICE!!!

So should anyone really be surprised that bush is out of the loop, so to speak. I don’t think so.

  30. Marie says:

I am smiling just thinking about that movie.

  31. Jesus Christ God of War says:

This thing about Rove telling Bush he wasn’t involved in Plame’s outting is rather like Bill telling Hillary he’d not had sex with Monica.

    Nobody died when Clinton lied.

Only problem is, when Rove lied, many CIA agents were exposed and too many were murdered for their part in the on-going undercover activities overseas. Making Rove’s little lie, what?, treason? Ya. That’s it. Do we still hang traitors? Get a big rope and strong cross-beam. Queen Rove is heavy.

  32. Smedley D. Butler says:

I need your help, very badly.

I’m trying to get this war protest off the ground. I’m posting it as often as I can and as much as I can through CraigsList and email. But there is only so much I can do by myself…

If you would like to protest the war, by simply taking the day off of work on November 10th 2005, then please take my post off of this site that starts with “War Protest” and post it in as many places as you can. CraigsList, blogs, email, everywhere. Just take 10 minutes to help me get the ball rolling, and then take the 10th of November off. That’s all it would take. Anymore help beyond that which you think would be helpful, is greatly appreciated as well.

I can’t do it without your help.

    Please.

    Thanks

  33. Sharon Cox says:

Smedley, Please stop, there is already a big protest in the works. The world can’t wait is having one on Nov. 2…There is only so much people can do. Pick another date, start over….Blessings

JCGoW, you know, lots of people bandy about the term Treason. I don’t think you know what Treason IS. Go look it up. It’s the ONLY crime called out SPECIFICALLY in the Constitution. Art. III sec. 3. It’s very very specific. This case does NOT meet that specificity.

I want to see Turdblossom go down too. This shrill shreaking doesn’t do us any good. It just makes us look as irresponsible as Coulter and her crowd. So stop flinging treason around as though it’s some trivial thing. It’s not. The founding fathers didn’t think so, that much is certain.

  35. Jamie says:

The CIA didn’t exist when the founding fathers wrote the constitution.

  36. average cost says:

just a quick hello and congratulations to your nice website ! i’ll visit you again!
