Democracy was put on hold yesterday as indicted ex-Majority Leader Tom DeLay twisted arms on the House floor to ensure passage of an industry-backed energy bill.
This energy bill should be a lightning rod for the Democrats, an opportunity to stand up and fight the way that the GOP did their bidding yesterday and once again trumped the rules and flexed their corrupt muscles. There are no excuses for missing this opportunity to say NO to massive giveaways to Big Oil, and NO to another bill that does nothing to move forward on alternative fuels. These are the leaders of our country and greedy, shortsighted profit-driven governance jeopardizes our future. These a**holes are playing games with my kids futures. WTF! Once again the Dems that vote in favor are exposed as complicit in the drive toward kleptocracy. No excuses!
I agree Jay. Now is the time for the public that can, show our will to fight back. Time for the shut down’s in consumerism, no work, no buy, stay at home and keep boycoting untill we get there attention. If we could rally lot’s of independent truckers as well this could work…..Blessings
War Protest – Nov 10 2005 Take a day off! – Please Read
If you feel, as the majority of Americans and people throughout the world do, that the war in Iraq is wrong, and you wish you had a way to show the Bush Administration, the Government of the United States, and the world, how you feel about it, then join us in our world wide walk out on November 10th 2005.
Show the world how you feel, and just how many of us feel this way. Let’s drive the point home by taking away from them their most precious item; money.
On November 10th 2005, unless you hold a position which people rely upon in the event of an emergency (you work at a hospital, a firemen, policemen etc), don’t go to work. Try not to drive your car; don’t watch T.V.; don’t use the internet. Stay at home. Read a book. Play with your kids. Engage in a hobby.
Plan a vacation day at work. Call in sick. Use your best judgment on how to take this day off.
If we don’t get their attention this way, we’ll just do it again, until we do.
If the people speak, and speak together, they have to listen.
Please email this to as many of your friends and colleagues as you wish/can.
Democrats will somehow manage to lose this as a lightining rod… this willl fade as all the other cons and scams from this Admin and their minions. The true problem now is that the Dems are to weak and ineffective to tackle the take-over. What we need is a true leader. Not from the left or the right… but the middle… is there a Moses in the house???
I thought the protest day was Nov. 2nd. That one is being arganized and backed by some serious groups. Do you have a link to the details of your walkout?
Jay, I haven’t seen anything on my other sites about the Nov.2 march. Why coulden’t we all corodinate along with a peace march on the same day.Get as many groups as we can to join together in a take back america, stop the war. stop the corprate take over’s etc; Where did you get your info,?….Blessings
Did you guys watch Bill Maher last night. It was incredible. Anne Coulter and Chris Hutchinson were taking shots at Bush and they weren’t even lead by Bill. They said that stuff without being tricked into it.
It is a glorious day. Bush is going down. He has even lost his crazy right wingers.
Although they still defended the conservative republican party, they are no longer in love with Bush.
Sharon, I like your ideas. No work, stay home, don’t spend money. I’m taking the 2nd off.
As far as staying home, I’m going to still go out and enjoy myself but I will do things that are free like hiking in the woods.
I will attend some haunted houses for halloween but I will only attend ones that are being offered by organizations that I support such as the Jaycees.
I will eat in restaurants but only those that are family owned and not run by corporations.
I will walk or bike whenever I can.
I will only consume beer that is not brewed by Anheiser Busch. I prefer Icehouse anyway, or MGD.
All necessities such as food and clothing will be purchased from local stores that I know for a fact do not support the Pug party.
Good suggestion Marie. My husband and I offered to help a World Relief Organization. The board was asking for suggestions on how to raise funds to keep their boutique (free stuff for people with less) open. We suggested a spagetti dinner. (I did one with the scouts before and it was very sucessful) Dave has a culinary degree and has agreed to the role of head chef.
This took place by just talking to a woman in line at a store. It’s amazing what can happen when you simply share conversation with folks.
After the pugs threatened the owner of “Spokes” in Danada for helping the anti war bike tour, Dave and I went to meet the owner. We offered him our support and assured him that we would bring new business to his store.
I thought of another. With the holidays approaching do your best to purchase gifts online from sites that do not support the pug party. Help keep the little guys afloat.
Susan, yes I do have a sugestion, if you can take a girl friend along. Maybe viset a thrift store and look for interesting little things for holiday gifts. A friend and I went to good will today and bought beautiful baskets for gift giving. We are going to fill them with home made and local made items. Enjoy every minute of your day..Think Danny Kay said life’s a canvas, throw lots of paint on it. Something like that…My friends and I are going back out again, it’s great to find all these great things for a fraction of new and do our part, like recycling….Blessings
You know there’s going to be a lot of shenanigans timed for the 2006 elections, too, to keep these thugs in power.
There’s no way they’re just going to lay back and lose control of the government.
Whether it’s bird flu epidemic, marshall law, economic collapse or just an ordinary stolen election, if the Dems want to get back in power, they are going to have to really fight for it.
I’m trying to get this war protest off the ground. I’m posting it as often as I can and as much as I can through CraigsList and email. But there is only so much I can do by myself…
If you would like to protest the war, by simply taking the day off of work on November 10th 2005, then please take my post off of this site that starts with “War Protest†and post it in as many places as you can. CraigsList, blogs, email, everywhere. Just take 10 minutes to help me get the ball rolling, and then take the 10th of November off. That’s all it would take. Anymore help beyond that which you think would be helpful, is greatly appreciated as well.
Just goes to show you the hogs are still at the trough, and still led by Boss Hog.
