Heads in the sand.

“A newly released report published by the CIA rebukes the Bush administration for not paying enough attention to prewar intelligence that predicted the factional rivalries now threatening to split Iraq,” USA Today reports.

Let’s all hope this doesn’t lead to civil war.

  2. anon says:

This part of the article is also interesting:

“In an ironic twist, the policy community was receptive to technical intelligence (the weapons program), where the analysis was wrong, but apparently paid little attention to intelligence on cultural and political issues (post-Saddam Iraq), where the analysis was right.”

What’s that sound I hear off in the distance….could it be….the Fat Lady warming up?

  4. kindness says:

We needed the CIA to tell us this? Duh!

  5. Citizen80203 says:

Maybe the White House can use Iraq as a road map for their own internal civil war. Rove can play the Iraqi Prime Minister and Card can play the insurgency. So what rolls are Bush and Chaney playing?

  6. $hrub says:

Civil War, Shmivel War, gimmie all dat Oil.

  7. Citizens Against Drunk Presidents says:

It’s called “selective reception” when you only hear what you want to hear. When “leaders” like Shrub surround themselves with cronies, idealogues, criminals and male escorts (Jeff Gannon) they cease operating in the realm of reality. The Neocon Fascist Cabal even admitted as much when they proclaimed that they could create their OWN reality!

  8. rene levy says:

The shi…. must be hitting the fan .Perhaps it’s the reason W is taking so many trips to pause for pictures with little black girls , firemen , policemen , local officials , declaaring there is hope for NO ,more fooling of the people . What , no bull horn ? Just plain bull .

  9. Zookeeper says:

How could the White House pay attention to any CIA report when they never read anything? Even today, after all that’s happened during this administration, I would bet they don’t read half the sh*t they’re sent. And we’re supposed to be SAFER?

  10. Brian says:

I wonder if the CIA has had other complaints to the justice dept that we are unaware of.

Seems to me exposing Plame was open/shut case.

The REAL CIA I believe has issue with the neocons…

  11. Noodles says:

That is what happens when you follow the “Completion Backwards Principle”.

  12. Brian says:

    …and vice versa.

  13. Dumb Fox says:

#11 – Recall with Watergate it was ultimately the FBI that f*cked Nixon… could be with Plamegate the other agency f*cks Bush.

  14. Brian says:

    #14

No doubt. If Plame fails it will be something else.

You know how many guys there are like Michael Scheuer? Smart people who left CIA because it was being raped and beaten into submission?

    Read “Imperial Hubris”.

  15. Marie says:

So we all knew this anyway. I think this is symptomatic of everyone associated with this administration snapping and snarling at one another because everything they touch has turned to crap and it’s flowing out the door and into the street now.

  16. progressive and proud says:

Speaking of reading, the books that will be written about these criminals will be many. No matter what happens to them legally, morally they have been found out and historically, they will be known forever. Great legacy, guys.

The WH actively ignored any intel that conflicted with their myopic world view and spent over $200 million of our tax dollars in a propaganda campaign. Look into this report from Colonel Sam Gardiner that details over 50 misrepresentations, lies, and outright propaganda from the WH.
    http://www.indybay.org/news/2003/10/1653148.php

WHIG (White House Iraq Group) is and always has been the key to unraveling the lies of BushCo. in regards to the lead up to the occupation of Iraq. It’s what Fitzgerald has been going after all along and finally the MSM can no longer ignore just how big this series of indctments may be.

While progressives in the U.S. are hoping that maybe, crossing our fingers (and toes), someone, anyone, might get indicted an international coalition is looking into the request of Amnesty International and may be charging war crimes against the majority of the BushCo. in the near future. Which is essentialy meaningless, except for the “piling on the monkey” effect, MSM won’t report on it and even if BushCo. is found guilty it just means BushCo. can’t ever leave the country as the U.S. doesn’t recognize the International Court. Extremely concerned about the International Court BushCo. went so far as to demand that any reference to the International Court be removed from the Iraqi constitution.

  18. afterthought says:

I think it is becoming clear that:
    1) Buchco knew there was no case for legitimate
    case for invading Iraq
    2) The weapons inspectors were finding this out
    3) The post-war planning would show how difficult
    things would be
    4) So they covered their ears while rushing
in yelling “I can’t hear you”

  19. Randy says:

Yes and if Al Gore were president right now you think we wouldn’t be in the mess you claim we are? I have seen people post that 9/11 was a conspiracy plan developed by the Bush administration to create the need to attack Iraq. Yes, Al may have dropped a few bombs on Afghanistan to shake things up, but I can guarantee you, that Al Qaeda would have struck again and again during his tenure. When are you dumb bastards ever going to see the light?

  20. Passerby says:

    Randy has a good point.

I think we’re getting to a point where the Democrats will have to openly state a “equal application of the laws” stance when dealing with Muslims we buy oil from.
    See how long that lasts.

  21. jparker says:

Randy, the folks who speculate about whether Bush had a hand in 9/11 are of the same extreme ideology as people who speculate about what a person who wasn’t elected would have hypothetically done in response to hypothetical attacks… all in an effort to turn heads away from the REALITY of where we are now.

Are you getting my point? Or am I just being dumb?

  22. progressive and proud says:

Clinton sure stopped a MAJOR plot by stopping them at the Canadian border. I suppose Bush decided to try something different. Oops, he was wrong. Remember whose watch 911 happened on?

  23. Marie says:

P&P the righties never seem to recall that Clinton foiled that plan. They are too concerned with whether his fly is zipped.
That’s the righties, though, preoccupied with sex — I think it has something to do with their strict upbringing leaving them with distorted thought processes.

  24. progressive and proud says:

You are right, Marie. Their total obsession with sex and who is having and with who sure takes up a lot of their time and energy.

Good grief stupid repubs – just have it and shut up. Well, after you clear up that acne and get some lasik surgery. Or, maybe just hop in the back of that a.pick up or b.SUV and have at it. We promise we won’t care who you do it with, just don’t tell us, it’s none of our business.
