“[Scooter] Libby’s lawyer, Joseph Tate, has not returned reporters’ phone calls for several days. Neither has Ari Fleischer, the former White House spokesman who testified early in the case and was present on a July 2003 Air Force One flight on which a memo that included information about Plame was circulated.”
Guess these guys must just be busy.
October 15th, 2005 at 3:35 pmIf I were them, I would be hiding out too. Might be time to get one’s personal affairs in order in case one might be “away” for a while.
October 15th, 2005 at 3:51 pmMarie, let’s hope it’s a good long while for them all…Blessings

October 15th, 2005 at 4:10 pmThey’re too busy looking for the real leaker.
October 15th, 2005 at 4:31 pmBush’s silence is the biggest disturbance. Is he waiting to see what they have on him before he publicly cares?
October 15th, 2005 at 4:42 pmBRIAN
I know that bushie was in on this matter by some degree but you can bet dollars to donuts rovie boy is covering up for him just like bushie boy has been covering up for rove.
This SECRET memo abroad AF1 tells me a lot. I was wondering where the name of Plame got into the mix, but I think this clears that all up.
Colin Powell had the memo, and I will bet that everyone on the plane except for the press read the thing.
October 15th, 2005 at 4:58 pmFrom the Sat. (of course) NYT, “The Miller Case”: “Neither man asked Ms. Miller detailed questions about her conversations with Mr. Libby.
Both said they viewed the case as a matter of principle, which made the particulars less important. ‘I didn’t interrogate her about the details of the interview,’ Mr. Keller said. ‘I didn’t ask to see her notes. And I really didn’t feel the need to do that.’
The fact that Ms. Miller’s judgment had been questioned in the past did not affect its stance. Mr. Keller said.”
So AFTER the Jayson Blair scandal – which resulted in the resignation of Keller’s predecessor – “The default position in a case like that is you support the reporter”?
October 15th, 2005 at 5:14 pmPablo in Mexico,
What do you think the odds are that the CIA complained about more than just Plame? Surely the CIA didn’t go the the Justice Dept. and just say “Yeah, an agent has been exposed by someone, we don’t know who. Could you look into it? Thanks.”
I think this is why it has taken so long and that reporters went to jail and top cabinet people resigned and Powell talks about shame and on and on and on….
October 15th, 2005 at 5:39 pmthe nyt has finally decided to try its hand at honest reporting on the judith miller/plamegate mess and give judy some time to think in the bargain…

October 15th, 2005 at 5:40 pmAfter all, this memo made the jump from the CIA to one person. Surely that shouldn’t be too hard to figure out.
October 15th, 2005 at 5:44 pmAnd it has been a long time since we heard ANYONE trying to discredit Plame as a legitimate undercover agent. This is the real deal. I’m bracing myself for the reality that Fitz might not indict anyone. What do we do then? Go on knowing there is a treasonous spy in the WH?
“And it has been a long time since we heard ANYONE trying to discredit Plame as a legitimate undercover agent. ”
Brian,
The reichwingers still do this. MightyWindbag & MrWrong (same person?) both tried this already this week. The reichwing fascist spin machine always tries to muddle and obscure the severity of their crimes – that’s what criminal types do!
October 15th, 2005 at 7:16 pmI suggested to another poster the other day that not only could Libby be charged with obstruction but his lawyer could be too. According to Millers lawyer (Abrams) Tate assisted Libby in manipulating the legitimacy of Libbys waiver.
Hmmm, Tate is in hiding.
October 15th, 2005 at 9:52 pmthey’re not hiding, they’re still out there looking for those damn weapons of mass distraction I mean destruction! they gotta be out there somewhere….
Book ‘em, FItz, five counts, perjury, obstruction of justice, release of classified information, etc etc
October 16th, 2005 at 12:23 amlooks like we haven’t heard the last of the now-retired Ari “Your presence has been noted in the building” Fleischer… he seemed to jump ship right as this stuff was beginning… what does it mean???
October 16th, 2005 at 10:26 amWhat has came to light today is that Libby told Miller that the release he signed was coerced (by bush) and for her to ignore it.
I still wonder why Golton visited Miller three times in jail. Could it be messages from Libby?
October 16th, 2005 at 10:38 amWho’s Golton Pablo?
October 16th, 2005 at 11:51 am… The best part ( for me ) is the whole thing ‘ came together ‘ on July 8th – that’s my birthday ! Oh , weasley lying BushCo . – how did you know this was JUST what I wanted ? A gift from y’all that’s been giving me more JOY , with every day that passes ! … ;)
