“The special counsel in the C.I.A. leak case has told associates he has no plans to issue a final report about the results of the investigation, heightening the expectation that he intends to bring indictments, lawyers in the case and law enforcement officials said yesterday.”
Yes.. Fitzgerald is so set on doing something that he may not even put out a report on his findings.
“By signaling that he had no plans to issue the grand jury’s findings in such detail, Mr. Fitzgerald appeared to narrow his options either to indictments or closing his investigation with no public disclosure of his findings, a choice that would set off a political firestorm.”
Surprising to see the New York Times consider the possibility that Fitzgerald won’t indict anybody.
As for a political firestorm.. Bush switching his deodorant causes a political firestorm amongst Democrats. Who cares?
“In recent days, Mr. Fitzgerald has repeatedly told lawyers in the case that he has not made up his mind about criminal charges.”
For the latest PlameGate news, briefings, timelines, statutes and other essential documents, including this weekend’s New York Times coverage of Judith Miller, see:
“Mr. Fitzgerald has repeatedly told lawyers in the case that he has not made up his mind about criminal charges.”
This could just as easily mean he hasn’t made up his mind WHICH charges against WHOM he will make. Considering that he’s called in multiple people for ADDITIONAL testimony, having made up his mind before all evidence is in wouldn’t seem either prudent or even reasonable.
You’ve got all excited about something that doesn’t say anything remotely close to what you say it does!
As for giving others advice on being disappointed – just remember to take your own advice!
Besides Gary, you forget Paula Jones. When there’s a will there’s a way, and Fitzgerald isn’t the end of the trail. You’ve gotten your hopes up all for nothing you little partisan weasel!
For months now, ambassador Joseph Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame, the covert CIA agent unmasked by the White House, have been preparing to file a civil lawsuit against the Bush administration officials who disclosed her identity and scuttled her career.
“There is no question that her privacy has been invaded. She was almost by definition the ultimate private person,” said the couple’s attorney, Christopher Wolf, of the law firm Proskauer Rose, on Monday. “Suffice it to say, they have been substantially damaged, economically and personally.” He said the couple would make a final decision on filing a lawsuit after Fitzgerald has completed his investigation.
If they do sue, Wilson and Plame could be the first litigants to depose senior White House officials since Paula Jones, an employee of the state of Arkansas, opened a can of worms by suing President Bill Clinton for allegedly exposing himself in a Little Rock hotel room. In a deposition for the Jones lawsuit, Clinton lied under oath about his relationship with another woman, Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern, triggering his impeachment by the House of Representatives and the disclosure of oral sex in the Oval Office. “The questions can range far afield. You can ask all kinds of stuff,” said Gilbert Davis, an attorney who represented Jones in her sexual harassment lawsuit. “You can start free-wheeling with all kinds of discovery methods.”
Fitz is giving them all an opportunity to sweat and cut deals. Indictments are coming, and Rupperware knows it. After the deals, there will be even more indictments. he just gets off on sowing the seeds of doubt. He’s got nothing else to do.
Half of America rejected your candidates. Much more than half of America rejects them now. You won’t even place or show in 2006 or 2008. See ya there, maybe.
A New Tidbit on the Plame Affair
by Larry C. Johnson
Had lunch today with a person who has a direct tie to one of the folks facing indictment in the Plame affair. There are 22 files that Fitzgerald is looking at for potential indictment . These include Stephen Hadley, Karl Rove, Lewis Libby, Dick Cheney, and Mary Matalin (there are others of course). Hadley has told friends he expects to be indicted. No wonder folks are nervous at the White House.
For those who don’t know Mr. Johnson, he’s the former CIA agent who knew Plame, and who’s debunked all of the smears of the reichwing as political and unpatriotic hackery. He’s a TRUE patriot, unlike the treasonous republicans who compromised american security for partisan agendas!
Why do you guys (and girls) even bother to argue with freeper trolls? They’re syncophantic partisans, you’re not going to convince them that they are wrong. Stop using precious bandwidth and database space letting these fools bait you with redicuous arguments. Just ignore them and they’ll go away.
Gary – since Fitzgerald hasn’t said ANYTHING to the media or the public regarding whether or not he’s going to bring down indictments, it seems quite unusual that you think you know for certain that he hasn’t made up his mind yet. You’re taking Rove’s lawyer’s word, which – surprise surprise – is simply another red herring talking point to distract from the fact that there appears to be ample evidence that Karl Rove and Scooter Libby perjured themselves. As indicated in another post, not having made up his mind probably means he’s giving people an opportunity to flip and testify for the prosecution.
Unless his story under oath was completely different than the one he was selling to the public, then it’s pretty obvious that he perjured himself. It’s even more ovious that Scooter Libby did. These are the two closest advisors to the president and the vice president. Your facade is wearing thin.
Will you still be gloating when top adminstration officials are indicted? When it becomes clear that the President and the Vice President were aware of what was going on? Perhaps the prez didn’t know til afterwards, but we do now know that Rove told him he was involved two years ago – which makes his flip-flop on how he would handle a leaker all the more apparant. Cheney obviously knew what was going on at the time. These people massaged intel and misled the world to get us into their war – smearing a critic is but child’s play to them.
Will you be gloating when the White House Iraq Group is finally exposed for the war propaganda machine that it was, cherry-picking intel to make a case for an unprovoked, amoral, illegal, and disastrous war?
Somehow I imagine you will still find a way to live in fantasyland. If you continue to support the administration now, even after the cronyism, the lying, the flip-flopping, and the sheer and utter incompetency is so obvious to the rest of the world, then there’s little hope of you joining the reality-based community.
#18, au contraire, Mr. Rupert, Larry Johnson is a very credible source, having worked many years in the CIA, trained with Valerie Plame, knowing her only as “V.”
Trolls are funny. They spend all day pouring over hack websites and then run here to tell us all about their new spin on the truth. They think they come armed with information but fail to realize we already know everything they will say. Trolls are very predictable.
The trolls aren’t even trying anymore. They merely repeat verbatim what they read elsewhere. C’mon gang, at least TRY to form words of your own.
Jeff Gannon, oh ppppleeease!!!

October 19th, 2005 at 12:00 amYeah.. I read that Fitzgerald isn’t decided on indictments yet.
You can’t just go from undecided to decided when dealing with 22 indictments.
You all will be extremely disappointed, like you were on the night of November 2nd, when America rejected your candidates.
