Senate committee votes

to include drilling in the Alaska wildlife refuge in a massive budget proposal, “assuring that drilling opponents won’t be able to use the filibuster to thwart oil development there.”

  1. Marie says:

They sense they are going down so they will desperately attempt to pass every foolish thing they can before that happens.

  2. Zwack says:

Can we get this changed back again?

    Please?

    Z.

  3. JimB says:

Another senator can try to add an amendment to strike it. Not sure if that has any reasonable chance at passing, given the makeup of the senate. Write your senators, folks!

  4. Sara says:

And unfortunately they will succeed. It will take decades to undo the stupidity of these past five years.

  5. Zwack says:

Who was on the Energy Committee and how did they vote?

Would telling our own senators that they just lost our vote help?

    Z.

  6. Sharon Cox says:

All these pukes we have in office make me sick. We have been fighting this issue for some time and they will stop at nothing to cut, drill and kill everything for oil and power. Even when they don’t need it, their desire is to distroy. With Pombo and Bush were realy have a total nightmare for our country, people and the world. Next stop our parks. All these people should be in jail for treason. If Fritz doesn’t hurry up maybe we need some kind of international tribunal, is that possible.? Any ideas any one.?…Blessings

  7. Praxxus says:

Yay! If this goes through, they’ll have that 1.5 years* of oil out of the ground by 2040! Thanks, congressional asshats!

    *Based on 2004 oil consumption.

  8. Concerned Conservative says:

    Best news I’ve heard today!

Yes! Yes! What is taking Fritz so long? Shouldn’t he have made the indictments already? Are you serious? You want to turn over the investigation to some international tribunal? You are really whacked out. You need help. See your shrink now. Don’t wait.

  10. JimB says:

If that’s the best news you’ve heard today, CC, it truly is a lousy time to be a Republican.

Looking at the state of current events, I could see how the possibility of this minor victory could be the best news for you!

  11. Sharon Cox says:

Ryan, I was asking a question. No I don’t need a shrink. I am beginning to wonder if we are going to get rid of these guy’s or if all the media and Fitz is just a hipe to keep us busy thinking we may get them out. There’s more buzz than action and given the way thing’s are going(worse every week) on all front’s ecanomical and enviromental I am loosing faith that anything is going to get done……Blessings

  12. good vibes says:

now my day is ruined! Bush hates planet earth and I hate him

  13. Mary Poppin says:

I AM SAD THAT WE CAN NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP THIS. EVERYONE COULD STOP WORKING FOR A DAY THAT WOULD GET THEIR ATTENTION. WRITE OUR SENATORS AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES IN CONGRESS. THEY DON’T LISTEN TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ANYWAY.

  14. Ryan Neat says:

    Sharon,

That was Mr. Wrong pretending to be me. He’s been doing that a lot lately. If you read anything that looks ‘atypical’ of me, you can be assured it’s more rightwing lies and misrepresentations attempted at smearing and denegrating me. In otherwords typical childish reichwing nonsense!

  15. Sharon Cox says:

    Thank’s Ryan. Hay mr.wrong, get stuffed….

  16. Sharon Cox says:

Mary, how about we start a letter writing campaign and ask all here to help us. Get some feed back of what the majority want said and set a date to bury the email lines. We need to hurry on the date though cause they are killing us in the house and senate with these bills and appropiations. First thing we need to do is demand the rich get taxed. Almost 8 trillion debt is unforgivable, stop the war, another unforgivable and the most important..Pick a date, let’s do it, while we wait for Fritz let’s do something constructive. What to you think?……Blessings

  17. The Muse says:

    I tried to tell you…

From: “Environmental Disaster: Republicans get Protection in Endangered Species Act.”

…Meanwhile, environmentalists were also said to be concerned about a mysterious section in the GOP’s new Endangered Species Act that creates a special one-million acre terrorist-proof “Green Zone” in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The earmark provides $14.6 billion for Halliburton to manage the project…

    But nobody would listen!

  18. Jennty says:

Might as well drill it, damn global warming is destroying that ecosystem anyway.

I recently read an article about how the melting of the permafrost may make it impossible to drill up there as the equipment will sink into the newly formed marshes.
