FEMA staff warned Brown

By Judd Legum on Oct 20th, 2005 at 1:29 pm

FEMA staff warned Brown

that people were dying at the Superdome. 3 hours later, Brown’s press secretary wrote to colleagues complaining that Brown needed more time scheduled to eat at a restaurant: “He needs much more that (sic) 20 or 30 minutes. We now have traffic to encounter to go to and from a location of his choise (sic), followed by wait service from the restaurant staff, eating, etc. Thank you.” (Via TPM)

Why should Brownie care? Bush don’t care about what was happening!

  2. progressive and proud says:

Brownie, you’re eating a heck of a sandwich.

  3. The Northeast Dilemma says:

I think they warned Blanco and Nagrin that people were dying too.

If you live by the sword of the federal govt, you die by it. If you want help those people, you would preach independence and not race baiting hate.

  4. progressive and proud says:

    That’s N A G I N. You stupid troll.

  5. Brian says:

    Negligence. Criminal.

  6. Brian says:

NED still defending federal response when EVERYONE ELSE has jumped ship. I think you just like to be heard, NED.

  7. Brian says:

Abortion and Disaster recovery are federal matters. Neocons know it. If abortion is given to the states, then equal protection of the laws becomes the issue. And if the feds rule against the wishes of the people, it’s the end of democracy.

  8. Gary Kleppe says:

    Who’s Brownie’s press secretary? Quayle?

  9. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Brian – I am not defending the federal response. Everyone is to blame for what happened down there, including you and me. Katrina was not just a federal disaster, it was a cultural one too.

This Blame Bush nonsense is fun, but at the end of day, it doesn’t really solve the problem, now does it?

  10. Spudge_Boy says:

“I think they warned Blanco and Nagrin that people were dying too.

If you live by the sword of the federal govt, you die by it. If you want help those people, you would preach independence and not race baiting hate.”

Ha NeD, guess what. Chertoff came out yesterday and said that he encountered no problems with either the governor or the mayor of NO. When asked if he had the same opinions about what happened as Michael Brown stated them and Chertoff said “I cannot endorse those views.”

In other words, nobody should be defending how Michael Brown handled Katrina, not even you.

    Moron.

  11. Spudge_Boy says:

“This Blame Bush nonsense is fun, but at the end of day, it doesn’t really solve the problem, now does it?”

Actually it does, but you are too stupid to see that.

    Idiot.

  12. Brian says:

Blaming Bush is a crucial part of the solution.

  13. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Spudge – when did you embrace Chertoff? That’s news to me.

Ask any normal citizen what they think of Blanco and Nagin and you’ll get your answer. When Blanco is soundly defeated in 2007, that will be confirmed to.

  14. progressive and proud says:

We tried to “solve the problem” but were hampered by you voting in criminals. Thanks.

  15. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Brian – that’s interesting and actually funny.

  16. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#14 – you were going to replace our criminals with yours. That doesn’t solve the problem.

  17. wisedup says:

Did you say Fun? We all could find better things to do, but making our gov. RESPONSABLE, is not fun.

  18. progressive and proud says:

I disagree. Your criminals are meaner and much more devious. You have an agenda and no one is to get in the way. That is why you don’t see infighting, because only a very few are actually playing this game. No one is scared of a democrat or an independant. But to a repub people, as you can see and is becoming obvious to all, are expendable and can be torn down. I don’t like the behind the scenes crap. Where is the transparency?

  19. Dennis says:

Don’t let this info, or any other info cloud the view of the real cause of the problems here. Bush appointed this man the head of FEMA knowing he had nowhere near the expierence needed to do the job. For those that will say Bush didn’t know, I say it was Bush’s job to know! This is what caused a bad sittuation to become the human disaster it became.

  20. dano347 says:

Comparing blow jobs to to treason? LOL

  21. dano347 says:

How is ned going to spin it if the Fitz investigation finds Bush and Cheney responsible? Better start now, ned, and beat the rush.

  22. The Northeast Dilemma says:

PP – Obviously, I disagree. AND you haven’t been to a right-wing blog lately if you think there’s no infighting.

When it comes to politics, both sides are guilty of trashing each other for political gain. But, someone always wins and that’s where we seem to part ways in this blog. It’s not some conspiracy or McCarhtyism or some powerful force that we cannot control. It’s that Bush, as sad as this may sound, is the more acceptable solution right now. Just like Clinton was in the 90s.

AND behind the scenes crap – that’s where you have trust a little. FDR did alot of behind the scenes crap too. We’re a nation at war.

  23. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#20 – Actually, Clinton hands were just as dirty as Bush’s. It’s just the media went nuts over Lewinsky. AND that wasn’t the comparison – I was speaking of Kerry. I truly hate the man.

  24. afterthought says:

This troll is REALLY not worth any bandwidth at all.

    Old saying (paraphrase):
    A normal man learns from his mistakes;
A wise man learns from other’s mistakes
    New addition:
Winger trolls don’t learn at all

  25. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#21 – here’s something to ponder. If Bush is the devil you claim he is (and there’s evidence to that), then don’t you think the Bush Admin would have already nailed Fitz? Of course, if he wasn’t one of them they wouldn’t have to.

  26. The Northeast Dilemma says:

    Fitz is a neocon.

  27. Kevo says:

It is obvious from this tragedy (FEMA’s post Katrina response), and the above item on Mr. Brown’s eating preferences, that the Bush Administration has embraced the Sun King form of democracy. If only we commoners could learn to eat cake! -Kevo

  28. The Northeast Dilemma says:

You know what, I take it all back. I’m sorry, I have these fits of rage where I can’t control my impulses.

I think I might be slightly schizophrenic, but I can’t afford to go to doctor to get treatment. Maybe I should have voted for Kerry so at least I would have health care.

  29. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#28 – we’re reduced to impersonation, now? That’s real mature and honest.

  30. dano347 says:

AND behind the scenes crap – that’s where you have trust a little. FDR did alot of behind the scenes crap too. We’re a nation at war.

    Comment by The Northeast Dilemma — October 20, 2005 @ 1:58 pm

So now the spin is “historical perspective”? We’ll all see how good president Bush was IN THE FUTURE?

That is good to know – because in the present, he’s quacking. Bush “did a lot of behind the scenes crap”?
Oh, yeah – the BEHIND THE SCENES LEAKING OF CLASSIFIED INFO FOR POLITICAL PAYBACK! Please give an example in which a democrat did anything even remotely as damaging to the country as this.

  31. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#30 – Clinton slashed every critic he ever had, usually lead by his wife. This phony indignation over the leak is nonsense. John Kerry outed a CIA agent at Bolten’s hearing. Where were you on that?

  32. dano347 says:

“Actually, Clinton hands were just as dirty as Bush’s. It’s just the media went nuts over Lewinsky. AND that wasn’t the comparison – I was speaking of Kerry. I truly hate the man.”

That’s rich from someone who constantly refers to others as “Bush haters” -as if it were an irrational response. So you can “hate kerry” and be fine mentally – but “Bush haters” are just irrational cranks? Pot=Kettle (both are black)

  33. dano347 says:

John Kerry outed a CIA agent at Bolten’s hearing. Where were you on that?

    Comment by The Northeast Dilemma — October 20, 2005 @ 2:09 pm

    Source?

  34. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#32 – I admit it, when it comes to Kerry, I can’t see straight. At least Clinton was a good liar. Kerry highlights everything that is wrong with the Democratic Party. The myth that Kerry wasn’t mean enough is a good one. The guy is an attack dog.

Push someone like Russ Feingold and you won’t have these problems.

  35. Ryan Neat says:

    NED,

Why didn’t apologize for the lies I corrected you on yesterday – are you starting to spread new ones today about Kerry? And aren’t we talking about CURRENT administration failures? You’ll have your turn to criticize democrats when we kick you out of office next time. Stay on topic you little stupid highschool girl.

Why do you keep blaming New Orleans for the failures of FEMA? Why are you so irresponsible? You won’t take any accountability when you are TRAPPED on spreading a lie – just like FEMA won’t take any accountabilities for their failures. Every time someone points out your failures – you come back with – but they where the real failures! Get a clue you irresponsible nitwit!

    FEMA SCREWED UP
    REPUBLICANS ALWAYS SCREW UP

    It’s what you do!

And stop spreading more Kerry Lies. You KNOW they’re smears – if they were true the REPUBLICAN administration would have launched an investigation. When you didn’t control all 3 branches, you might have had an excuse for such irresponsible slanders – now it’s just pathetic and psychotic looking – just like your whole party!

  36. dano347 says:

Still no source for that Kerry slur, ned?

  37. The Northeast Dilemma says:

God, I need a job. all I do is troll on this site and start rediculous arguments with people who are smarter than me. There must be more to life than this.

  38. Brian says:

The Neocon phenomena lasted about as long as Clay Aiken.
Want to cause a Evangelical Schism? Nominate one to the supreme court. Ha!

  39. The Northeast Dilemma says:

  41. The Northeast Dilemma says:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A45280-2005Apr11.html?nav=hcmodule

This article headline says it all. Just like Rove may have outed a CIA agent.

PP – grow up. I know it’s you posing as me. Why do I bother you so much?

  42. Spudge_Boy says:

    #13

    NeD,

I was not endorsing Chertoff. I was pointing out to you that there isn’t any republicans backing Brown anymore. You are the only one. Stop backing somebody who is clearly incompetent. I understand you wanting to defend the republican party. You just need to realize when your own party is no longer in somebody’s court any longer.

  43. Anti Warhol says:

NED you’ve got some serious problems with rage and self-loathing. Why do hang around on a progressive blog and start arguments with people you don’t know or respect?

And from one post to the next you completely contradict yourself. I think you might be right about that schitzo thing. There are probably free clinics you can go to, no?

  44. Brian says:

    NED-

NOONE knows what you are talking about. Now what happened? Bolton was in trouble again? And Lugar snitched an agent?
Is that what happened? Come again?

  45. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Spudge – I am not defending the indefensible. I don’t happen to agree with Chertoff that Nagin and Blanco were innocent.

  46. dano347 says:

This article headline says it all. Just like Rove may have outed a CIA agent.

The headline says “may have”, not “did”, as does the article – so when did you hear about the CIA asking Justice to investigate this most-serious assertion?

I’m sure that they (CIA)are all over this, I mean, this is serious stuff! Since it was reported back in April, I sure we’ll be learning the details any day now.

  47. Ryan Neat says:

    Brian,

No one knows it, because it’s a reichwing blog fabricated event – like most of them are. They constantly come up with these outrageous claims against either Clinton or Kerry that are just complete and utter lies.

When you point out that they’re lies, like I did yesterday with NED – they just bring out yet another lie to replace it. It’s like a waterfall of human excrement.

So NED you have Zero Credibility. You haven’t been able to put a single fact on this site that wasn’t debunked in minutes. I DEMAND AN APOLOGY FOR YOUR LIES, SLANDER AND TREASON!

  48. Ryan Neat says:

    dano347,

The wapo posted that story because a blog fed it to them. It was debunked within hours. The PUBLIC bio of the ‘outed’ agent lists his job at the CIA. This is very different from Plame who worked for a ‘cover company’ and was not listed as a CIA agent.

  49. Ryan Neat says:

Apologize for your LIES NED – DO IT NOW!

  50. Spudge_Boy says:

    #45

NeD, then you are also saying that you don’t agree with one of George Bush’s appointments in the Department of Homeland Security?

  51. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Ryan – just like you have no proof that Rove outed anyone. You have already tried and convicted him.

  52. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#50 – I don’t agree with that position he took. I think Nagin and Blanco were in over their heads. No pun intended.

  53. dano347 says:

“The wapo posted that story because a blog fed it to them. It was debunked within hours. The PUBLIC bio of the ‘outed’ agent lists his job at the CIA. This is very different from Plame who worked for a ‘cover company’ and was not listed as a CIA agent.”

I know, Ryan. But I couldn’t help myself – is there a “Troll Bashing Anonymous” where I can get help?

  54. Spudge_Boy says:

    #52

Could you also agree that just about everyone was in over their heads when it came to Katrina response?

  55. The Northeast Dilemma says:

I have said as much. It was a bi-partisan disaster.

  56. Ryan Neat says:

“Ryan – just like you have no proof that Rove outed anyone. You have already tried and convicted him.
Comment by The Northeast Dilemma ”

Huh? How do you come to that conclusion? Wow, you’re REALLY delusional.

    1) The administration leaked – the who is fitzgerald’s job to find.
    2) We do know that Rove DID leak, it’s been documented publically by several reporter’s statements, the question is if he KNOWINGLY leaked.
    3) Plame was an active covert agent who was INTENTIONALLY outed in order to discredit wilson.
    4) None of this changes the fact that the story you printed WAS A LIE – JUST LIKE YESTERDAY.

How do you justify your lies? Are you that mentally ill that you can’t see lying is wrong? Clearly you are!

  57. Ryan Neat says:

“I have said as much. It was a bi-partisan disaster.
    Comment by The Northeast Dilemma”

No it wasn’t you stupid housebound fatass. I already posted proof that he was a KNOWN agent with a field assignment. This is ENTIRELY different from a covert agent you dingbat moron!

  58. Ryan Neat says:

    NED,

    APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR LIES!

  59. Gary Kleppe says:

Wow, even Neddy seems to be distancing himself from the Republican leadership. They are really going down. I only hope we’ll still have a country left afterwards.

  60. Ryan Neat says:

“I don’t agree with that position he took. I think Nagin and Blanco were in over their heads. No pun intended.
    Comment by The Northeast Dilemma”

That’s true, they shouldn’t have trusted FEMA to do its job – it’s a republican run inept organization. I agree that they Blanco and Nagin overestimated federal preparedness in this NATIONAL disaster.

  61. Ryan Neat says:

    Gary,

Ned’s just a cheap liar. She lies daily, we constantly catch her in the lies, and she comes back and prints more lies. It’s really kind of pathetic in a nerdish sort of way.

  62. Brian says:

NED’s looking for data to support his postition. Problem is he gets played a fool by his own proaganda machine. Then it’s too late to say “I’m sorry”.

Give unto NED what is his…

  63. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Ryan – The Administration was defending itself against a charge that Wilson was sent by Cheney’s office. The issue of whether they knowingly outed her IS THE CASE that has to be made. AND Joe Wilson was not concerned about his wife’s status when he took to the airwaves to smear the Administration. IT WAS POLITICAL.

You might get obstruction or perjury, but you will never get outing a CIA agent.

AND if I were you, I would also ask why this “ruthless” Admin is so chummy with your hero Peter Fitz?

  64. Ryan Neat says:

    dano347,

The ‘may’ turned out to be a ‘not’, because the agent in question was in fact a ‘public agent’ of the cia, not a ‘covert’ one. The entire story is another bogus reichwing non-headline. They just spread this crap to try to discredit Kerry/Clinton and anyone they disagree with. When you call them on their lies, they don’t even apologize (like Ned) and just try to shift the subject to another lie, or another strawman argument.

That’s what propagandists always do – keep shifting the subject as you dismantle their frame. They can’t stand and fight, because their lies are indefensible, just as their complete immorality is!

  65. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Ryan – it’s ok for you to smear the Administration. ANY attempt to defend themselves is an act of McCarthysim. Double standard ring a bell??

  66. Spudge_Boy says:

    #63

Actually NeD. Joseph Wilson didn’t know his wife was a covert CIA operative. That has already been stated by Wilson. SO, the “Wilson didn’t care..” statement is incorrect. He found out when Novak published his article.

  67. Ryan Neat says:

“Ryan – The Administration was defending itself against a charge that Wilson was sent by Cheney’s office. The issue of whether they knowingly outed her IS THE CASE that has to be made. AND Joe Wilson was not concerned about his wife’s status when he took to the airwaves to smear the Administration. IT WAS POLITICAL.”

Wow, so many lies, in such a short space. This entire paragraph is one giant framed strawman.

    1) It has been PROVEN that Cheney’s office was involved with the Niger issue.
    2) Why would a man who’s wife is a COVERT agent have anything to fear from an ‘honest’ government. He never mentioned his wife’s name, so unless the government was willing to do something ILLEGAL, he had nothing to fear – and that’s what happened!
    3) We already know that the BushCo crew KNEW she was an agent – yet a simple bio check would have shown she worked for a private company. Duh – she’s covert. Only a retard like you wouldn’t put the pieces together – so either their inept (clearly a possiblity) or they broke the law – also likely.

“You might get obstruction or perjury, but you will never get outing a CIA agent.”

Bahaha, so now miss NED who can’t even get a simple fact straight is an attorney and an expert on federal law? Bahaha – that’s AMUSING!

“AND if I were you, I would also ask why this “ruthless” Admin is so chummy with your hero Peter Fitz?
    Comment by The Northeast Dilemma”

Oh, and here goes yet ANOTHER RAT HOLE NONSENSE. I’m not even gonna bother with yet another one of your lies.

JUST APOLOGIZE FOR SPREADING THE LIE. KERRY DID NOT OUT A COVERT AGENT – APOLOGIZE NOW YOU LIAR!

  68. dano347 says:

    Comment by The Northeast Dilemma — October 20, 2005 @ 2:33 pm

Stories highlighting the petty ways of Bush Administration cronies – that they detail people to handle such momentous efforts as SCHEDULING LUNCH AT A RESTAURANT while others suffer – doesn’t equal a
“bi-partisan disaster”. Where Nagin and Blanco assigning people to this task also? How does this article’s assertions show that this was a ‘bi-partisan disaster”.

  69. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#66 – sure he did. AND he’s not a liar either and Bush 41 really “liked him.”

  70. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Ryan – apologize for lying about Bush stealing the election. Liar. LIAR. LIAR.

    Where does this get you?

  71. Brian says:

I’ve noticed NED change over the months. Her language style and delivery have changed. You can tell she goes through periods of intense self education. NED truly is an open book, and you can tell her opinions are not wholly hers, and not well rooted.

Didn’t you get the Memo? AnnCoulter and the other conservative republicans say McCarthyism is good. So I guess that makes what we’re doing heaven sent!

A smear is based on a lie – that’s what you do. The truth is based on facts – that’s what we do. The REPUBLICANS started this investigation you retarted little girl. If there is nothing there, the investigation wouldn’t have been started. The only SMEAR is the crap you pulled. You live in SUCH a fantasy world. You clearly don’t even know what common english words mean – it’s hard to imagine you were actually educated in the northeast – it just doesn’t fit!

  73. The Northeast Dilemma says:

“Ryan – apologize for lying about Bush stealing the election. Liar. LIAR. LIAR.
    Where does this get you?
    Comment by The Northeast Dilemma”

    Let me count the resources.

    1) Diebold machines are KNOWN to be insecure – CERT has security warnings specifically on them.
    2) 2 OHIO ELECTION OFFICIALS HAVE ALREADY BEEN INDICTED.
    3) Exit polls show Kerry won – exit polls are considered so reliable our PENTAGON uses them in foreign elections.
    4) Widespread voter irregularities were reported nationally that were consistent with a stolen election.
    5) INTERNATIONAL voting monitors charged a rigged election.

Shall I go on? See a smear is based in non-facts. All of these are facts that all point to the same conclusion. And there are MANY more.

  75. Spudge_Boy says:

    #69

No he did not. Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t make it true.

It was nice talking to you when you were sane. You remember, five minutes ago. Let me know when you come back to reality and I will talk to you again.

Bahaha, is that why everything you post is verbatim from some reichwing smear blog? Bahaha, stop projecting your psychosis on everyone else. We all know you aren’t mentally stable!

  77. Brian says:

MoveOn.Org is alittle too left for me. But you helped make my point.

  78. Ryan Neat says:

    So people.

Can we let our resident LYING BITCH just go away, and we concentrate on the story again?

We did a good job showing she has NOTHING but lies. Lets concentrate on the problem here.

When Brown was informed PEOPLE WERE DYING, all he was worried about is dinner.

    That’s just an insane idiot!

  79. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Ryan – you have no proof on your Diebold claims. Just more smear. Exit polls were rigged by Zogby. You lost because all you do is smear.

  81. Marie says:

I saw the Email (MSNBC) that was sent to Brown detailing the horrors in N.O. and I also saw the reply. Apparently this all went to Congress too because Senator Susan Collins (R) was interviewed and said she was appalled.
This fits in with Chertoff blaming everything on Brown yesterday — no one in high places will accept responsibility — they all point fingers at others. The low-to-mid level people are always the ones who blow the whistles.

    “Just more smear. ”

Funny, coming from a girl who’s posted multiple smears in the last few days that I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY DEBUNKED. And yet you have not debunked a single item I’ve posted!

“Exit polls were rigged by Zogby. You lost because all you do is smear.”

You smear zogby, and then accuse others of smearing and therefore losing. Irony thy name is republican propaganda!

Exit Polls From Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International:
The Exclusive Source for Election Day Information

The major news organizations hired Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International to conduct the official exit polls for all 50 states and the District of Columbia for the 2004 elections.

Zogby wasn’t even involved in the ‘official’ exit polls – they ran their own you stupid dingbat! And guess what – the zogby polls MATCHED the official ones, yet the ‘official’ results didn’t match ANY exit polling. That’s called fraud you lying smearing rat feces!

Northeast crazy girl is more like it!

  84. Ryan Neat says:

    NED,

What’s wrong, you don’t believe the federal government now? You know it’s run by republicans – are you saying you don’t trust republicans anymore? Well they are liars and cheats, but clearly they have no incentive to lie about diebold.
