If he hears a loud chorus from the left, all saying “Bye!” that will let him know he should stay - to defy the left and not give them what they want. So shhhh!!!!!!
#13 - you’re missing the point. The Democrats enable this temper tantrum. So yes, Teddy is the headline, but don’t b*tch to me about deficits when you vote against something as basic as this.
I think that simply voting for that bill is not indicative of whether you support pork or not. It provided money for too many critical services and has been delayed too many times. What we should really be looking at is who includes the most pork. As a party, it is the Republicans- evidence is in budgets since 1984 (10 years of Dems, 10 of Repubs). But there are individuals of both parties that undoubtedly stand out. And Stevens is one of them. If he decides to leave, good riddance to all of those who want efficient government.
Hey Ned whaddaya make of this? http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001939.htm
She’s going to need some comforting after this comes out…here’s your chance, starch your best brownshirt…
“you’re missing the point. The Democrats enable this temper tantrum.”
We ‘enable’ the temper tantrum? Sounds like your AA work is creeping into your posts. If you believe holding politicians accountable for ‘pork spending’ is ‘enabling a tantrum’, no wonder you’re such a screwed up lying bitch.
Speaking of that - where’s the APOLOGY YOU OWE FOR LYING! I PROVED YOU LIED - YOU NEED TO MAKE AN APOLOGY TO EVERYONE HERE! But then again, just like you try to blame democrats for the tantrum of a republican - clearly you have no morals, shame or accountability! You truly are republican lying scum!
“when you vote against something as basic as this.”
I didn’t get a chance to vote on anything you stupid piece of sh!t and I don’t agree with anybody that did vote to pass it. I was shocked and apalled that this sh!t was passed. And I am mad as hell. How the hell can you continue the way you do without being mad as hell at you freaking republican reps. the way I am at my democrat reps.?
Not only will democrats happily vote to trim this pork, we’ll be even more happy to field a democrat to run for his seat. It should make the next election even more fun! Keep it up porkers!
And NED, where’s the APOLOGY YOU OWE FOR LYING! I PROVED YOU LIED - YOU NEED TO MAKE AN APOLOGY TO EVERYONE HERE!
#17 - Ann is taking heat over judges. She is speaking the truth and I commend her. As for Coburn, whey don’t you look at the substance of what he is doing positive, rather than rail him on his social conservatism.
She’s like all ‘fans’, she can’t separate her own insignificance of sitting on the sideline, with actually playing the game. It’s part of the delusion!
Where’s the apology. I showed you were wrong on the Kerry testimony. I showed you were wrong when you claimed Kerry outed an agent.
YOU LIED - APOLOGIZE FOR BEING A LIAR! But then again, as a bush republican, you clearly are psychotically incapable of admitting your failures aren’t you?
Yelling that the restrooms of OK high schools are filled with lesbians and forcible sterilization is social conservatism? I’ll stick with batshit crazy.
I think Ann Coulter may be under fire for being a lying hypocrite. Apparently they don’t like her interpretation of Christianity at ‘her church’ - maybe they would be more forgiving if she showed up once in a while and put some of those speakers fees in the collection plate. You know, a bit of ‘render unto God’
Most of the time I think you people are nutty libs. But in this case, I agree. Let him resign. And “don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” When is there going to be a fiscally responsible person in ANY political office? Slick Willy did fair (give him credit for balancing the budget, let’s also give credit to a Repub Congress) when it came to budget issues, but not near what is needed. And the Repubs in today’s Congress, with the support of Pres Bush, are spending our money like drunken sailors! (No disrespect to sailors intended)
Fed spending is completely out of control. There is no accountability. If a private contractor accepted an offer of X dollars to build Y, but wasted most of that money, he would either be out of business or footing the remainder of the bill. Not in our government. This happens at all levels like our elected officials get eat up with a bad case of the tax money stupids immediately after taking office. They simply shift monies or raise taxes, or impose a “fee” which is nothing more than a tax.
A good way to get a grip on this is to enact the Fair Tax. A consumption tax, in other words. The rich buy more stuff so they pay more taxes. It will not fix everything, but it’s a start. Google “The Fair Tax Book” or look it up on Amazon.com so when you blast me for suggesting the idea you will not look like a fool.
What you fail to recognize is that the PNAC/NeoCon/Nazi group that now control this administration believe that bankrupting the federal government will prevent future social programs from being implemented. They are INTENTIONALLY bankrupting us.
You say you run a business, that’s like you running up all the money on your credit card limits to prevent your wife from spending money on new shoes. I’m sure some poor stupid dope has done this, but something tells me that dope isn’t you in this case. And yet these are the people that ARE conservatives in our era. I know many republicans don’t agree or even know this is the case - but it is the reality of your political party. It’s a sad sad state that your movement has reached!
The ‘consumption’ tax actually isn’t fair, because most wealthy people would simply use corporate and offshore structures to ‘lease’ goods, or similar tax shields that would mean they pay even less. That entire proposal is a red herring unfortunately.
#34, just a quickie, “give him credit for balancing the budget, let’s also give credit to a Repub Congress” Was that budget balancing exercise done in 1993 or was it in 1994 after the mid-terms when Newt “Got cancer? OK here’s your divorce papers” Gingrich took over?
Consumption taxes are not progressive, they are generally regressive. So if we agree on fiscal indiscipline - how about rescinding the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and then saving $4b a month by leaving Iraq?
Bahaha, move on? This site is a ‘progressive’ site, I suggest you take your own advice unwelcomed moron! Or are you here to spread your racist and classist propaganda again? Of course you are, that’s why the whole bogus ‘consumption tax’ is being touted.
We disagree on the motive but the outcome is still the same. I would love to see social program funding drastically reduced, but even if keep the social funding the same a remove all the pork, that would help.
Man, never fails. Single out a Republican pork spending premodonna or a Republican Senator’s aide who wants to impale judges to NeD and he immediately responds with “your shit stinks too.” Of course it does, we’re talking about politicians.
That’s okay. While you’re busy deflecting valid criticism we’ll regroup, and hopefully, those of us who post here will remember everything we’ve admonished your party for and hold our politicians a cut or two above the muck in D.C. instead of deflecting responsibility for the people we help elect with mealy-mouthed counterpoints.
“Stubain, don’t mind Ryan. He’d be a decent poster if he dropped the schoolyard tactics.
Comment by Lesly”
When I want shit out of either you or Stubain, I’ll squeeze your heads. Any progressive on this site is 10 times the poster either of you morons are. Both of you push strawmen like the wizard of oz in a fire sale!
There’s a direct correlation between poverty, education and social welfare spending. Those idiots who believe it’s good to cut social programs need to travel more. I’ve been to countries that do and don’t provide government spending - even countries with supposedly high GDP based on industrial output. Any moron who thinks they want social programs cut is an idiot!
Stevens sounds pretty insistant about this. I think it would be interesting to know if Stevens or his associates own much property near the bridge to nowhere.
Hey, Stuban #34, don’t pay any attention to Ryan Neat in #56. He’s just frustrated with you. Probably the sly way you threw a punch at the “nutty libs” and topped it off with a mention of “Slick Willy” all in the same breath. Really, though, your shit is a little thin, Stuban. Most of us rightwingers have found better scapegoats to blame for everything, like regurgitating “Schummer” or “Biden” everytime a new problem comes up. And boy, you sure do hear their names all the time lately, too, heh, heh.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but those social programs you want cut—-was that like the $10 billion the Republicans said today they want to cut from Medicare and Medicaid for our elderly and disabled citizens over the next five years? Or like the GOP blocked the raising of the minimum wage for our poorest workers, to a lousy $6.25 an hour, while letting Halliburton and other corporations pick the pockets of the taxpayers? Or the gutting of the budgets of EPA, Forest Service, BLM, Park Services, and on and on are what you are talking about? I mean, that is what we are doing, you know, at a time when the market is supposedly doing so very, very well. I shudder to think of the cuts if the economy REALLY does go down.
Back to subject of this article. Senator Stevens is a rightwing conservative, just like you, and he would cut all the social programs in the lower 48. That is, just as long as he isn’t called upon to sacrifice ANYTHING for Alaskans. Are you aware that citizens in Alaska pay no state tax? And that they all get (every Alaskan citizen regardless of age) an oil check EVERY year? This year it was lower than usual, only a little over $1900 cash to supplement their incomes.
And guess who is going to build Sen. Steven’s $250 million dollar bridge while we struggle to put gas in our cars? You got it, pal.
#19 “we’ll be even more happy to field a democrat to run for his seat.”
Good luck. Alaskans like elected officials who bring home large projects. Who wouldn’t?
#62 “Stevens sounds pretty insistant about this. I think it would be interesting to know if Stevens or his associates own much property near the bridge to nowhere. ”
Ketchikan (where the bridge is going in) is the home town to our Governor (former Senator) Murkowski. Perhaps it was a friendship gesture, or perhaps something that Murkowski had in the works while he was in DC (pre 2002)? Either way, whether your a Democrat or a Republican… Alaskans benefit from having Stevens in office.
#63 “This year it was lower than usual, only a little over $1900 cash to supplement their incomes.”
You need a fact checker there fellow blogger. It was roughly $850 this year (a little more last year). The exact amount is tied to overall market performance (the fund is fairly well diversified), and oil revenues. We do pay property taxes, and many communities have sales taxes ranging from 4 to 7 percent. If you had a clue as to the fraud being perpetrated by social service providers (the corporations) you’d be in favor of reducing funding for social welfare programs too.
And so what if Alaskans do receive this payment, it is coming from oil that is pumped out of Alaskan ground?
And so what if Alaskans do receive this payment, it is coming from oil that is pumped out of Alaskan ground?
There’s nothing wrong with a surplus. Now why don’t you tell your Senator you want a bridge so badly you’re willing to part with that check so the federal government doesn’t have to build it for you?
Face it this guy is spending a couple of hundred million bucks to see to it he and his friends make a few million bucks. It would be far cheaper to give Stevens and his top five contributers 1 million each and forget about building the bridge for no reason.
I like your grit, captain, and thanks for correcting me on my $1900 claim. A paltry $850 hardly covers the cost of gas this year. You guys up there ought to complain to Stevens or vote for a democrat. In 2000, when Bush came to office, it was $1963 for all residents.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but your statement that “so what, the oil is coming out of Alaskan ground” sounds a little selfish when you want the rest of us to help build a needless bridge to nowhwere. I mean, last time I checked Alaska is a part of the United States and many here would suggest you are no more intitled to free money than any other citizen in Amercica. Of course, when I lived up there at Eagle River, I was much more rightwing and certainly took my checks from the government, all the while bitching about the scumbag welfare people getting a handout down in the lower 48.
By the way, the Million Dollar Bridge built and abandoned after the quake of 1964, did Cordova ever get the “essential” highway to connect it to Anchorage, or is the town still waiting on more pork to finish the “essential” project? Just wondering.
#70 “did Cordova ever get the “essential†highway to connect it to Anchorage”
I think Cordova is fighting about the Alaska Marine Highway. The state has been playing a bit of a shell game with the various Southeast communities in regards to ferry stops and schedules. No road connection that I know of.
#70 “sounds a little selfish when you want the rest of us to help build a needless bridge to nowhwere”
Yep, it’s safe to say that Alaska as a whole is a fairly selfish state. But individually there are many many open and giving individuals. However, there is an extreme shortage of progressive types up here. So please, if you have progressive tendencies and are interested in changing Alaskan politics by all means come on up. There’s room for everyone.
And FYI, I drive by Eagle River on my way home every night…
You are OK, Captain, and a good natured and seemingly honest man. Of course, as a redneck myself, I like your balance and enjoy good input. As for Alaska, I really loved it there, and still hold it close in my thoughts. I was lucky enough to travel nearly the entire state and saw much of it.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but before I go to bed, or pass out or whatever, I have always wondered how the residents of Talkeetna could tell the difference between a “hippie” and a resident. I swear, they both looked the same. Too bad for you, though, too. You still have to put up that porkdipping dipshit senator of yours.
I’m sure the Eagle River is scenic but what does that have to do with the fact that the bridge for no reson is wildly wasteful? And I must reiterate; who will profit?
“The ‘consumption’ tax actually isn’t fair, because most wealthy people would simply use corporate and offshore structures to ‘lease’ goods, or similar tax shields that would mean they pay even less. That entire proposal is a red herring unfortunately.”
Comment by Ryan Neat
What a non-argument. First, what evidence do you have to conclude that leasing goods or other tax shields would keep the wealthy from paying a sales tax?
Second, the rich pay accountants obscene amounts of money to find tax loopholes. If the tax code leans so heavily in favor of the rich, why not go to a tax system that COMPLETELY eliminates the poor from paying any fed taxes and lays that burden on the portion of the population who buys more stuff?
Here are the highlights of the fair tax…
Workers would get to bring home their paycheck free of fed taxes. No income tax, Medicare tax, social security, etc.
The consumption tax is imposed at the retail level.
Every citizen is paid a rebate for the amount of taxes that they would be expected to pay on the necessities of life every month, based on the size of their household.
Since all embedded taxes on goods bought for business on the wholesale level are removed, goods bought by consumers are largely unchanged, even after the consumption tax is imposed.
It would eliminate the IRS and eliminate filling a tax return every year. Thus making paying taxes far easier to pay and easier to understand.
All pensions and 401K monies could be withdrawn tax free.
Here is a list of the taxes that would be replaced: personal, estate, gift, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes.
In addition, the fair tax plan would make business in American so profitable and Americans would have so much more money to spend that companies would bring their businesses back here rather than oversees because many companies left and went oversees due to the extraordinary tax burden they have to face under our current tax system. It would also keep American companies and American jobs in America.
“What a non-argument. First, what evidence do you have to conclude that leasing goods or other tax shields would keep the wealthy from paying a sales tax?”
A non-argument? Bahaha. You’re such a FOOL. Leasing is one of the largest used tax loophole wealthy people already use - I know I use them myself. You’re just a moron!
“Second, the rich pay accountants obscene amounts of money to find tax loopholes.”
Simple solution is to simply remove tax loopholes that are not productive for economic growth you moron. Not to mention the fact that those taxloops ENCOURAGE INVESTMENT. If you tax consumption, you disincentive investment. It’s the EXACT OPPOSITE of what should be done from a psychological and an economic perspective.
” If the tax code leans so heavily in favor of the rich, why not go to a tax system that COMPLETELY eliminates the poor from paying any fed taxes and lays that burden on the portion of the population who buys more stuff?”
Except for the fact that the majority of the income of the poor goes to personal consumption! You also disincentivize consumption - this is one of the reason we have a gasoline tax to fund other public transportation projects.
I have a degree in economics - not only is your proposal UNFAIR, it’s just plain stupid - just like you are.
“Like I said. Schoolyard tactics.
That’s a good dog, Ryan.
Comment by Lesly”
I play to my audience. Besides, considering the heroes of the reichwing are Limbaugh, OReilly, Coulter, etc., it’s clearly the ONLY tactics your party understands. Like I said, I play to my audience. Ever noticed how polite I am to polite people - well you wouldn’t - it doesn’t fit your ‘frame’.
So here’s a little math for StubbornStupidStubbain. I know you only finished high school, and this might be rough for you, but you should actually work out the math on a ‘deal’ before you take it. I’ve mets lots of scam artists that love to meet a nouveau rich arrogant jackass like you. You’re fresh meat!
Consider this:
Person A makes $250,000 a year, lives in a $400,000 house, and has three kids
Person B makes $50,000 a year, lives in a $150,000 house, and also has three kids.
Under the current tax code, person A pays the following (approx)
SS: $5600
Medicare: $3600
Federal Tax: $35,000
Total: $45,000 (approx)
Person B pays:
SS: $3200
Medicare: $800
Federal Tax: $0
Total: $4000
Now, if we go to a “23%” sales tax (FairTax) and make a few assumptions, like the fact that Person A will have alot more of his income going to “investments” than person B. We could plausibly come up with the following.
Assumptions: Person A spends 100,000 / year to live, Person B spends all 50,000 to live
New “FairTax” is:
Person A: $23,000
Person B: $11,500
But this comes to a total of $34,000, which is far less than $49000. Since we can’t tax more, we have to assume that person A must spend more on “taxable” items and that my assumption of $100,000 was off. At least $15,000 in taxes more, which is $65,217.39 more spent or a total of $165,217.39 spent.
This yields final taxes at:
Person A: $38,000
Person B: $11,500
or a shift of $7,500 from the wealthy person to the poorer person.
How again is that “Fair”???
There’s a sucker born every minute, and oh so many of them register republican!
#73 ‘Too bad for you, though, too. You still have to put up that porkdipping dipshit senator of yours.’
At least you know how he operates, and what you can expect from him. He’s pretty shallow, but he has done well for Alaska from a strictly financial perspective. As for the hippies… I’ll take them over the meth freaks any day.
#75 ‘I’m sure the Eagle River is scenic but what does that have to do with the fact that the bridge for no reson is wildly wasteful? And I must reiterate; who will profit?’
I for one will profit. The bridge will save me 40-60 minutes per day on my commute. I’m sure you see no value in this, but I do. I’m not alone. The Matanuska-Susitna Valley is one of the fastest growing parts of the nation, and is far and away the fastest growing part of Alaska. There is a real land shortage within the Municipality of Anchorage. A bridge from Anchorage directly to the Mat-Su Valley will open up access to a lot of land for development of homes. As it is now young couples are screwed when faced with purchasing a home in Anchorage.
Some of you will say “then pay for the bridge yourself.” If a bond is needed for this project I would vote for it. If a bond is not needed, I’m sure you will be very happy to know that your tax dollars are actually making lives better for some Americans, even though it is not profiting you directly. Happy now?
#81 ‘Wouldn’t a commuter barge or ferry have been just as effective, or is there already one there?’
It hasn’t been done, but there has been talk of it. I think there is just too much traffic.
Your issue of effectiveness is rather vague. What do you assume the bridge will be effective at doing? I’m hoping that the bridge is effective at increasing real-time accessibility between Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley, and increasing housing options for families living in Southcentral Alaska. I don’t believe a ferry would do this.
One issue that doesn’t show up on the radar is that the Mat-Su Valley is the gravel capital of Alaska. We supply most of the gravel in the state. Right now the train and trucks are carrying gravel from our pits to communities north and south. The bridge would shorten the distance that gravel needed to be hauled into Anchorage (the largest consumer of gravel). This could possibly reduce the cost of building in Anchorage, and will definitely save $$$ for companies transporting freight from Anchorage to the Mat-Su and even up to Fairbanks.
There is also talk that the Alaska Railroad is going to kick in to have the bridge accomodate a set of tracks. Again, this would be good for hauling freight, and might even lead to a light rail connecting Anchorage to Mat-Su.
Effective meaning solving the problem in a way that is quick but also more affordable. If the traffic is high, than your project sounds like it’s not pork frankly. It’s the other bridge that I’ve heard all of the complaints about - not the anchorage one.
Frankly I hadn’t heard anyone complain about the anchorage bridge before it was mentioned here today - by you incidentally. Follow the link on this story, it specifically mentions Gravina, not Anchorage as I understand it.
Actually progressives are a little smarter than you give us credit for :)
You know we can distinguish a reasonable project from a truly wasteful. The anchorage politics sounds more like good governance, whereas the gravena seems like utter wastefullness and bad governance! When I think of Pork, I think of the second situation and not the first. I’m not opposed to the government spending money, but unlike the so called fiscally conservative republicans who really mean (don’t give my money to poor black people), I believe in the real definition of it. Make your money work for you, and for it to be as good of a value as possible! That’s TRUE fiscal conservativism - and not the bullcrap that cheap semi-literate morons of the reichwing spread.
“Simple solution is to simply remove tax loopholes that are not productive for economic growth you moron. Not to mention the fact that those taxloops ENCOURAGE INVESTMENT. This is just further evidence that you are ignorant of the fair tax and oblivious to any ideas outside the nutty lib mentality. You created a very presumptuous example and didn’t apply the fair tax’s principles to them. I added the fairtax.org link so you could educate yourself but it seems you didn’t bother.
You have an economics degree, huh? Congratulations. I suppose that makes you an authority to the utmost. An economics degree does not make you an expert, and by no means does it make your positions the right one. You are a presumptuous little nutty lib, aren’t you?
“Ever noticed how polite I am to polite people - well you wouldn’t - it doesn’t fit your ‘frame’.”
Comment by Ryan Neat
You didn’t say this to me but this is, none the less, a big load of dog squeeze. I have been nothing but polite to you despite your vile and vicious personal attacks on me and my family. I will not stoop to your level. That’s called class.
“Stubain,
Bahaha, move on? This site is a ‘progressive’ site, I suggest you take your own advice unwelcomed moron! Or are you here to spread your racist and classist propaganda again? Of course you are, that’s why the whole bogus ‘consumption tax’ is being touted.

Comment by Ryan Neat
“Unwelcome moron” and “Get a life loser!”? How classy. So much for the open sharing of ideas. I am acutely aware of what kind of site this is. That is why I am here. I am not arrogant enough to think my ideas or positions are 100% correct. I come here to share ideas. Gasp! I know it’s hard for you to believe your enemy could be humble and civil.
I already responded to your fairtax nonsense on the other tread. It’s just idiocy. Simple math proves it shifts the tax burden to the poor. Go spread your filth and nonsense and scams elsewhere, where people are stupid enough to believe them.
Your ideas aren’t only not 100% correct they’re not 1% correct. The fairtax (steve forbes rehashed nonsense) is just an attempt to shift the tax burden onto the poor and middle class. And economists who are worth a grain of salt have already dismissed it as a HORRIBLE idea.
And I’ve already have enough of your ‘idea sharing’. It consists of ‘poor(black) people are lazy and stupid’. You’re just an idiot and a transparent racist/classist. In otherwords, you’ve already been singled out as a ‘moron’ with an attitude. You aren’t civil, your selfish.
“And I’ve already have enough of your ‘idea sharing’. It consists of ‘poor(black) people are lazy and stupid’. You’re just an idiot and a transparent racist/classist. In otherwords, you’ve already been singled out as a ‘moron’ with an attitude. You aren’t civil, your selfish.”
Comment by Ryan Neat
I can understand why you have had enough. When I make so much sense that you can’t argue a legitimate point, I wouldn’t want to discuss things any further either.
‘poor(black) people are lazy and stupid’
Please, go find where I wrote this (copy and paste if you have to) and let us all know. You wrote it in quotes as if you copied it but you and I both know I have never said this. Never. This is all you have to argue with? Personal attacks and blatant lies? Typical.
“The fairtax (steve forbes rehashed nonsense)”
Here, again, I have to correct you because you are simply ill-informed. Steve Forbes is in favor of the flat tax, not the fair tax. Someone with an economics degree should know this.
You call me a racist? I am not a racist by any stretch of the imagination. This guy is racist…
“And then finally I want to say that we need one idea, and we’re not thinking about a solution to the problem. We’re thinking about all these other things, but we’re not dealing with a solution to the problem. And we have to start to think about a solution to the problem so that these young brothers and sisters who are here now, who are 15, 16 or 17, are not here 25 years later talking about these same problems.
Now how do I know that the white people know that we are going to come up with a solution to the problem. I know it because they have retina scans, they have what they call racial profiling, DNA banks, and they’re monitoring our people to try to prevent the one person from coming up with the one idea. And the one idea is, how we are going to exterminate white people because that in my estimation is the only conclusion I have come to. We have to exterminate white people off the face of the planet to solve this problem. *tepid applause* Now I don’t care whether you clap or not, but I’m saying to you that we need to solve this problem because they are going to kill us. And I will leave on that. So we just have to just set up our own system and stop playing and get very serious and not be diverted from coming up with a solution to the problem and the problem on the planet is white people.”
This is NC State visiting prof Kamau Kambon. He’s really trying to bridge the racial divide huh? Don’t believe me? Here’s the link.
The fact you are a racist is clearly established. Your posting of quote from a ‘black racist’ to demonstrate you are not one, is passive aggressive, and only further proves the point. The John Locke Foundation is just another smear and fear republican partisan hack website in North Carolina. Of course they would have to try and print the one case of a racist black person, to offset all of the bigots that run the joint!
As for the forbes issue, that’s why I said ’steve forbes rehashed‘. You should really improve your reading comprehension. While the forbes flat income tax shifted the burden, the sales tax is EVEN WORSE and even shifts it further. It’s not only rehashed, it’s served with a side of fried turds!
You’re an idiot - my asseessment is only further proven by this posting!
“The fact you are a racist is clearly established.”
Comment by Ryan Neat
Ryan, I challenge you to copy and paste comments of mine that “clearly” establishes me as a racist. You can’t. When a nutty lib realizes they are beaten in an argument their next tactic is to drop the “racist” accusations. To use this as a way to prove a point is the easiest (and most despicable) route because they know it’s a taboo subject that’s not politically correct to talk about when you are white. You screaming racism sounds much like Sen. Joe McCarthy screaming “communist!”
“As for the forbes issue, that’s why I said ’steve forbes rehashed‘. You should really improve your reading comprehension. While the forbes flat income tax shifted the burden, the sales tax is EVEN WORSE and even shifts it further. It’s not only rehashed, it’s served with a side of fried turds!”
Comment by Ryan Neat
Let’s look at the definition of “rehashed” shall we?
re-hash verb
1. to bring forth again in another form without significant alteration.
2. to discuss again
The key phrases here are “another form” and “without significant alteration.” You imply that the fair tax and the flat tax are similar and just reintroduced in another form. This is simply not true. The fair tax and the flat are so different they can barely be compared. Isn’t it nice to be a nutty lib and make up words and meanings to fit your position? Also, here is what I wrote to you just the other day:
“You nutty libs… I get a chuckle out of you every time you open your soup coolers. I said that my father WAS poor. I never claimed he IS poor any longer. He did exactly what I say poor people should do, take your lumps and keep moving forward. Learn to comprehend what you read.”
Comment by Stubain — October 16, 2005 @ 2:09 pm
It seems you like to steal material with the “reading comprehension” comment. Very original of you.
I will have to hand it to you for the “fried turds” bit. Perhaps you do have a sense of humor.
“You’re an idiot - my asseessment is only further proven by this posting!”
Comment by Ryan Neat
Again, the only thing you prove is that when you can’t adequately defend your nutty lib arguments you immediately go to plan B and scream racism, attack people personally, and continue your vile and vicious hate speech.
“Government can’t ensure that black kids will become nuclear physicists.
The work that blacks need to do in Washington today is to reduce government interference with black individual lives, families and communities to solve our own problems.”
Stubain believes that black people should fend for themselves, and that the government shouldn’t be a tool to protect them. I wonder how the victims of child abuse, rape or any other criminal or discriminatory practice might feel about this laissez faire soft on crime and soft on abuse stance might feel. I’m sure you believe that fair access to education to give that child the opportunity to become a ‘nuclear scientist’ is racist, but Clarence Thomas is there precisely because of this - as are many prominent CONservatives who now belittle the system. Nothing like a newly religious convert to not recognize the world in it’s true reality!
You’re an idiot and a bigot. You want to remove all protections that the government provides in law enforcement and social justice and replace it with social darwinism. This is both bigoted and frankly what one would expect from a reichwing moron! Thanks for proving what an idiot you truly are to everyone!
I still say, you’re an idiot - because of what you write is idiotic. Get smarter, write smarter, argue smarter, and I’ll stop calling you an idiot!
FYI you shouldn’t get your panties in such a bunch. Your criticisms of others attacking ‘personally’ just looks truly hypocritical - but then again aren’t all CONSERVATIVES eventually proven as hypocrites? So far you’re batting 1000 loser!
“When federal entitlements were mentioned, your first response was that black people just need to work harder. You’re a RACIST - end of discussion.”

Sorry, Ryan. You can’t keep your lies straight. If I said it like you claim, PROVE IT.

You can’t be serious about this. I mean really, talk about a weak argument. When I say “nutty libs” it’s a term of endearment. When you call me a racist (only because it’s your last resort) and a loser (among other vile things) it is meant to be vicious and hurtful. The difference is that I am light-hearted and you try to make people feel inferior to you. I will not take the bait. Nice try, though.
“Stubain believes that black people should fend for themselves, and that the government shouldn’t be a tool to protect them.”

Are you implying that blacks can’t do for themselves and NEED government to protect them? Boy-oh-boy, did you just step in it up to your ankles.
“You’re an idiot and a bigot. You want to remove all protections that the government provides in law enforcement and social justice and replace it with social darwinism.”

Repeating a lie does not make it true, Ryan. Prove that I wrote these things. If I have said these things like you claim, then prove it. Again, you can’t because this is another example of the “argument of last resort” nutty libs go to when they can’t prove (or defend) what they say.

You used my material earlier today and I called you out on it (no response, of course) and here you do it again. Imitation is the best flattery, I suppose.
Why not steal my material, based on the crap you’ve posted, clearly you have nothing original. And your ‘claim’ that I use your material is just more of the self grandizing lies you’ve posted. You’re an idiot, and the only value you have to offer here is to show how idiotic, how out of touch, and how irrational you and your racist retarded red state morons are!
You can fvck of you hideous excuse for an redneck!
This link is a perfect example of what I am talking about on the topic of the poor, working poor and personal responsibility. This guy didn’t make excuses when things didn’t go his way. He didn’t blame anyone or point fingers. He took the situation for what it was and moved forward. It was neither luck nor government “hand outs” that helped this guy out of bad situation. It was his own determination, work ethic, and resourcefulness and his lack of excuses that got him back on track. “When all you have are lemons, make lemonade.”
[…] Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) (you remember, the guy who threw a tantrum on the Senate floor when the Coburn Amendment asked him to redirect money given to him for a $223 million Alaskan bridge to nowhere to help the relief effort from Hurricane Katrina) refused to have oil executives swear an oath to tell the truth before a Senate Committee hearing yesterday. […]
[…] In 2005, Stevens helped slip in legislation to begin construction on the “Bridge to Nowhere,†earmarking over $200 million for a bridge to an island home to 50 people. When an amendment jeopardized funding for the project, Stevens threatened to resign. […]
Go ahead and resign, Porky.
Do you second that, NeD?
October 20th, 2005 at 5:24 pmDon’t let the door hit you where the good lord split ya.
Bye fvcker!
October 20th, 2005 at 5:24 pmBy all means, Ted. Resign away! And take that idiot Don Young (a member of the “Old Timey Beard Club”, thank you TDS) and his “Way” with ya!
October 20th, 2005 at 5:29 pmOh please!
October 20th, 2005 at 5:32 pmIf he hears a loud chorus from the left, all saying “Bye!” that will let him know he should stay - to defy the left and not give them what they want. So shhhh!!!!!!
October 20th, 2005 at 5:32 pmBeat it Stevens!!! Alaska is up there with NJ in corruption.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:39 pmDon’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out!!!
October 20th, 2005 at 5:42 pmPlease don’t go!! Not.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:44 pmI’ll type up his letter of resignation.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:48 pmLet him go!

The only Democrat to vote against this pork was Feingold. UM - that should tell you something.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:50 pmI’ll pack his bags for him as well, and buy him a one way ticket back to Alaska. And it would be good riddance.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:52 pmAnd see here NeD, we do not like any democrat that voted for this pork either. They are just a bunch of republican lites.
But, this story is not about any democrats. It is specifically about Ted Stevens.
Nice try at derailing again.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:54 pmThere goes his kickbacks from the construction companies. That’s most likely why he’s so upset.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:56 pm#13 - you’re missing the point. The Democrats enable this temper tantrum. So yes, Teddy is the headline, but don’t b*tch to me about deficits when you vote against something as basic as this.
October 20th, 2005 at 5:56 pmI think that simply voting for that bill is not indicative of whether you support pork or not.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:04 pmHey Ned whaddaya make of this? http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001939.htm

Oh, Sen. Coburn is batshit crazy: http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0915-32.htm
Rampant lesbianism in OK high school bathrooms. I have, er a friend who saw that movie, I think.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:05 pm“you’re missing the point.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:07 pm#15
“when you vote against something as basic as this.”
I didn’t get a chance to vote on anything you stupid piece of sh!t and I don’t agree with anybody that did vote to pass it. I was shocked and apalled that this sh!t was passed. And I am mad as hell. How the hell can you continue the way you do without being mad as hell at you freaking republican reps. the way I am at my democrat reps.?
October 20th, 2005 at 6:07 pmNED, get your meds out.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:09 pm#17 - Ann is taking heat over judges. She is speaking the truth and I commend her. As for Coburn, whey don’t you look at the substance of what he is doing positive, rather than rail him on his social conservatism.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:09 pmSpudge,
She’s like all ‘fans’, she can’t separate her own insignificance of sitting on the sideline, with actually playing the game. It’s part of the delusion!
October 20th, 2005 at 6:09 pmBye, Ted. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

YOU LIED - APOLOGIZE FOR BEING A LIAR! But then again, as a bush republican, you clearly are psychotically incapable of admitting your failures aren’t you?

Feel free to encourage him to resign anyway even though he got his way (and Don Young’s. Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
October 20th, 2005 at 6:16 pmTOTALLY SWEET!
We get a 3fer… We get rid of Stevens, We stop building a $220 Million bridge for 50 people, and we get some funding for Katrina victims.
WOOO HOO!
October 20th, 2005 at 6:18 pmYelling that the restrooms of OK high schools are filled with lesbians and forcible sterilization is social conservatism? I’ll stick with batshit crazy.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:18 pmRyan - be happy ned actually has some fiscal integrity. Ethical integrity may come when he grows up.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:20 pmI think Ann Coulter may be under fire for being a lying hypocrite. Apparently they don’t like her interpretation of Christianity at ‘her church’ - maybe they would be more forgiving if she showed up once in a while and put some of those speakers fees in the collection plate. You know, a bit of ‘render unto God’
October 20th, 2005 at 6:22 pmBuh-bye, Ted!
October 20th, 2005 at 6:25 pmMost of the time I think you people are nutty libs.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:26 pmkindness,
Hehehe, thanks for the words. Actually I’m THRILLED, this administration is imploding, and I rather enjoy poking at the little reptiles these days :)
October 20th, 2005 at 6:27 pmClean House
October 20th, 2005 at 6:27 pmStubain,
What you fail to recognize is that the PNAC/NeoCon/Nazi group that now control this administration believe that bankrupting the federal government will prevent future social programs from being implemented.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:30 pmDon’t even bother, Ryan. We all already know you think I a fool. Move on…
October 20th, 2005 at 6:30 pmStubain,
The ‘consumption’ tax actually isn’t fair, because most wealthy people would simply use corporate and offshore structures to ‘lease’ goods, or similar tax shields that would mean they pay even less. That entire proposal is a red herring unfortunately.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:31 pm#34, just a quickie, “give him credit for balancing the budget, let’s also give credit to a Repub Congress” Was that budget balancing exercise done in 1993 or was it in 1994 after the mid-terms when Newt “Got cancer? OK here’s your divorce papers” Gingrich took over?
Consumption taxes are not progressive, they are generally regressive. So if we agree on fiscal indiscipline - how about rescinding the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and then saving $4b a month by leaving Iraq?
October 20th, 2005 at 6:31 pmStubain,
Bahaha, move on? This site is a ‘progressive’ site, I suggest you take your own advice unwelcomed moron! Or are you here to spread your racist and classist propaganda again? Of course you are, that’s why the whole bogus ‘consumption tax’ is being touted.
Get a life loser!
October 20th, 2005 at 6:32 pmRyan,
We disagree on the motive but the outcome is still the same. I would love to see social program funding drastically reduced, but even if keep the social funding the same a remove all the pork, that would help.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:36 pmMan, never fails.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:40 pmStubain, don’t mind Ryan. He’d be a decent poster if he dropped the schoolyard tactics.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:41 pmDemocrats step up, there may soon be an empty Senate seat!
October 20th, 2005 at 6:43 pmCongress should immediately appropriate 20 trillion dollars to anybody who wants some money for whatever reason they have.
Tom Delay coughs up ten grand for bail. If he didn’t have it, he’d be an honest man. Right now, he’s a big fool.
Ted Stevens resign and move back to Alaska? Not a chance. Ain’t gonna happen. Warshington is the place to be for these nutjobs.
October 20th, 2005 at 6:46 pmAll BS aside… How do I make my name a link to my home page?

When I want shit out of either you or Stubain, I’ll squeeze your heads. Any progressive on this site is 10 times the poster either of you morons are. Both of you push strawmen like the wizard of oz in a fire sale!
October 20th, 2005 at 7:36 pmThere’s a direct correlation between poverty, education and social welfare spending. Those idiots who believe it’s good to cut social programs need to travel more. I’ve been to countries that do and don’t provide government spending - even countries with supposedly high GDP based on industrial output. Any moron who thinks they want social programs cut is an idiot!
October 20th, 2005 at 7:38 pmAnd usually the folks who want social programs are just white supremacist morons (eg. stubain) who don’t have the balls to plainly speak the truth!
October 20th, 2005 at 7:39 pmTyped too fast. That should have read
“And usually folks who want social programs cut are just white supremacist morons(eg. stubain).
October 20th, 2005 at 7:39 pmLike I said. Schoolyard tactics.
That’s a good dog, Ryan.
October 20th, 2005 at 8:27 pmStevens sounds pretty insistant about this. I think it would be interesting to know if Stevens or his associates own much property near the bridge to nowhere.
October 20th, 2005 at 8:34 pmHey, Stuban #34, don’t pay any attention to Ryan Neat in #56.
October 20th, 2005 at 8:37 pm#19 “we’ll be even more happy to field a democrat to run for his seat.”
October 20th, 2005 at 8:43 pmI’ll take that to be some very nice lots. Thank you
October 20th, 2005 at 8:45 pm#63 “This year it was lower than usual, only a little over $1900 cash to supplement their incomes.”
October 20th, 2005 at 8:53 pmcaptain_menace wrote:
There’s nothing wrong with a surplus. Now why don’t you tell your Senator you want a bridge so badly you’re willing to part with that check so the federal government doesn’t have to build it for you?
October 20th, 2005 at 8:56 pmOh, I didn’t know the lots were that nice!
October 20th, 2005 at 8:57 pmFace it this guy is spending a couple of hundred million bucks to see to it he and his friends make a few million bucks. It would be far cheaper to give Stevens and his top five contributers 1 million each and forget about building the bridge for no reason.
October 20th, 2005 at 9:17 pmI like your grit, captain, and thanks for correcting me on my $1900 claim.
October 20th, 2005 at 9:18 pm#70 “did Cordova ever get the “essential†highway to connect it to Anchorage”
October 20th, 2005 at 9:32 pmYou are OK, Captain, and a good natured and seemingly honest man.
October 20th, 2005 at 9:55 pmSounds like a good deal to me, we get rid of two losers at the same time. See Ya asshat.
October 20th, 2005 at 10:11 pmI’m sure the Eagle River is scenic but what does that have to do with the fact that the bridge for no reson is wildly wasteful? And I must reiterate; who will profit?
October 20th, 2005 at 10:38 pm“The ‘consumption’ tax actually isn’t fair, because most wealthy people would simply use corporate and offshore structures to ‘lease’ goods, or similar tax shields that would mean they pay even less.
Here is a link so you can see for yourself.

October 21st, 2005 at 12:34 amSo here’s a little math for StubbornStupidStubbain.
October 21st, 2005 at 12:51 am#73 ‘Too bad for you, though, too.
Happy now?
October 21st, 2005 at 1:04 amCM,
Serious question here.
Wouldn’t a commuter barge or ferry have been just as effective, or is there already one there?
October 21st, 2005 at 1:37 am#81 ‘Wouldn’t a commuter barge or ferry have been just as effective, or is there already one there?’
October 21st, 2005 at 1:54 amEffective meaning solving the problem in a way that is quick but also more affordable.
October 21st, 2005 at 2:04 amRyan Neat
You are correct. This amendment was only for the Gravena bridge.
I guess I always assume that people think of the two bridges as being the same.
October 21st, 2005 at 2:32 amCM,
Actually progressives are a little smarter than you give us credit for :)
October 21st, 2005 at 2:38 am“Simple solution is to simply remove tax loopholes that are not productive for economic growth you moron. Not to mention the fact that those taxloops ENCOURAGE INVESTMENT. If you tax consumption, you disincentive investment.
Get a life loser!”
October 21st, 2005 at 1:32 pmI already responded to your fairtax nonsense on the other tread.
October 21st, 2005 at 2:12 pmAnd I’ve already have enough of your ‘idea sharing’. It consists of ‘poor(black) people are lazy and stupid’. You’re just an idiot and a transparent racist/classist. In otherwords, you’ve already been singled out as a ‘moron’ with an attitude. You aren’t civil, your selfish.
October 21st, 2005 at 2:13 pm“And I’ve already have enough of your ‘idea sharing’. It consists of ‘poor(black) people are lazy and stupid’. You’re just an idiot and a transparent racist/classist.

October 21st, 2005 at 3:25 pmStubain,
The fact you are a racist is clearly established.
October 21st, 2005 at 4:18 pmPlease suspend your possibly short attention spans long enough to follow the comment thread in the previous Stevens related message:

October 21st, 2005 at 6:30 pm“The fact you are a racist is clearly established.”
October 21st, 2005 at 6:38 pmWhen federal entitlements were mentioned, your first response was that black people just need to work harder. You’re a RACIST - end of discussion.
October 21st, 2005 at 6:56 pm“Government can’t ensure that black kids will become nuclear physicists.
October 21st, 2005 at 7:09 pm“You nutty libs…”StubainTheHypocrit
FYI you shouldn’t get your panties in such a bunch. Your criticisms of others attacking ‘personally’ just looks truly hypocritical - but then again aren’t all CONSERVATIVES eventually proven as hypocrites? So far you’re batting 1000 loser!

Comment by Ryan Neat
Repeating a lie does not make it true, Ryan. Prove that I wrote these things. If I have said these things like you claim, then prove it. Again, you can’t because this is another example of the “argument of last resort” nutty libs go to when they can’t prove (or defend) what they say.
“FYI you shouldn’t get your panties in such a bunch.”

Classic lines… Since you use my material, can I use yours?
October 21st, 2005 at 10:04 pmWhy not steal my material, based on the crap you’ve posted, clearly you have nothing original.
October 22nd, 2005 at 12:49 amRyan,
This link is a perfect example of what I am talking about on the topic of the poor, working poor and personal responsibility.
