Plame said her husband was former ambassador and was knowledgeable in mining which would come in handy in investigating whether the rumors of Iraq seeking yellow cake were true. Wilson came back and said it’s not happening. The neocons went ahead anyway and Bush mentioned the debunked documents in his SOU speech in 2003. Wilson went public after that and finally wrote his op-ed and went on MTP in July of 2003.
