You had to know that Uncle Dick was the original source. If the scant info that’s surfaced is an accurate indication, Powell had the top secret document on Air Force One containing the goods on Plame/Wilson and only Shrubya and Uncle Dick were privy.
Can Fitzgerald nail him on it though. That’s to $300billion question. This would be the bombshell necessary to blow the whole thing up. Keep your fingers crossed fellas/ladies, looks like Wednesday will be the day.
The NY Times article (”Cheney Told Aide of C.I.A. Officer, Notes Show”) and a host of other key articles, briefings, statutes, timelines and documents, see:
So the info originated with Tenet at CIA, got bumped up a level to the Veep who has the authority to know, but at this point in the story the info can’t go back down again (to Libby/Wurmser/Hannah/Feith/Rove) without it being a crime by Cheney…..right?
Yes Jay, it looks like Cheney Cheneyed himself good! And so wonderful if they can make it stick… but there’s always the Presidential pardon to worry about. Let’s hope they have similar notes on George!
It is not the knowledge that is important. All of the participants in the bushco had the proper clearances to have that knowledge. The problem comes in when that information is passed on to one who does not have the proper clearance, i. e. any one outside the government without a specific clearance, e. g. Novack and Miller. This, per se, is only a problem for the individual that released the information, maybe. The crux of the situation, however, is in the discussions, conversations, suggestions, et. al., that preceeded that release. If two or more members of the bushco, up to and including DUHbya, were party to any of the above where Wilson, Plame, and providing that information to an outside uncleared individual were discussed then all present are guilty of conspiracy. They all do not have to be present at the same time. If DUHbya so much as said “Get that SOB,” meaning Wilson, to anyone who directed or acted upon that direction then all concerned, including DUHbya, are looking at some hard time in Kansas. The “Nazi” defense, (I was only following orders!), aptly named in this case, is not a valid defense. They are all gone!
That’s odd. Last week Powell was quoted as saying a report he gave to dumbya on AF1 in spring of 2002(or was it 2003?) listed Plame as CIA and her husband as Joe Wilson. Powell went on to say that only 2 people saw that report. Dumbya & Cheney. So, whatever.
Big Time in the Big House? I hope that the federal Pen has a good heart and knee surgeon.
October 24th, 2005 at 10:14 pmNow that this is out, there are two questions:
1) Is this the smoking gun, or just wishful thinking?
October 24th, 2005 at 10:21 pm2) If Dick knew, did Dubya know as well?

October 24th, 2005 at 10:26 pmYet another reason why Cheney’s face is on the poster of “America’s Most Wanted Republicans.”

October 24th, 2005 at 11:48 pm#11, You have accurately summarized the case here. These staffers all had security clearances; the issue is one of conspiracy.
